Shockingly, the owner's daughter side glanced me to another worker when I asked where a drink was on the menu! Her eyes opened really wide and rolled slowly towards a waitress. Like i was some kind of "weirdo". At that point I decided to up and leave as I was appalled at such rudeness and unprofessionalism. And I wouldn't recommend working as a bartender here as the girls working there were really bitchy and unhelpful and sabotage your chance. Although there's plenty better job opportunities out there.

San Giovanni’s has an understated luxurious atmosphere. Me and my partner went on a Sunday lunch time - all the staff were polite and timely. The menu was varied and had some delicious veggie options. The goats cheese bruschetta was to die for! As well as the chocolate bombe - I was a little apprehensive as I have been underwhelmed by this dish in other restaurants, but the combination of chocolate and raspberry does not disappoint! This is not the usual place me and my partner would go - as it’s a bit more up market than we would usually go. For us, it was a nice place for a special occasion.

Wonderful meal, lovely service.What can I say. I had the Fillet steak Rossini and it was just outstanding. The service was great so attentive without being too intrusive. Bravo San Giovanis.

I would highly recommend anyone to go San Giovanni, the food is 10/10, drink menu is upto date! The staffs are amazing, always available to help with any questions, the atmosphere is top notch, no single fault during my visit.

Really a meal of 2 half's. Arrival: beautiful venue, attentive staff & straight to our table. Attractive table layout & wide choice on menu. Drinks & Starters prompt & amazing quality & taste..... then down hill, all 4 main courses were below standard & not what was both advertised or expected. It seemed as though the waiting staff started to ignore us when overhearing that the food was not good. At no point did anyone come and ask if all ok (although did number of times in the starter) had to call someone over to ask for a other drink, no comment on collection of plates (when evident that some meals were not eaten fully). It was such a shame and marred my birthday celebrations. With others in my party being food critics (off duty), it was a poor experience overall. With the prices I would have expected a lot better & have eaten (as you can see from my review history) better (and cheaper).

5+ star service every time, with the most incredible food around.

Amazing! If you haven’t been go! The food is delicious and scenery is beautiful! I had the Penne Dorate, they come out with pepper and parmesan. My meal always goes cold before I get to finish it but not this one, it was hot throughout. It was so flavourful and creamy and staff were very attentive. I’d drive 40 minutes everyday to have more if I could!

The food is to die for. The service was also great and I enjoyed my time here. Would definitely recommend

I got food poisoning a week ago and was so bad that at one point I was was going to be taken in to hospital for observation. I spoke to the manager Giorgio who told me it would be difficult to prove and would need to take samples and go through a lab - no apology I note. He advised I write an email detailing what had happened, which I did and received an email from a director. She again did accept no blame and sympathised at my 'tummy upset'. Diminishing and deriding my experiences. Her argument being that as they'd informed their suppliers and no other customer had been ill combined with being highly rated previously then my accusation obviously could not been genuine. At no stage did I ask for any compensation only that they took heed of my experience and refund what I'd paid for my meal. Disgraceful experience and a place I will never be returning to. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Waiter was not friendly, we ordered tbonesteak with skin on fries, we became fries after 15 min after steak . And skin on fries was not in the prise with steak. I wish to see more smile and friendliness from staff.

Stunning. From the moment you drive into the car park from the minute you leave. Everything was perfect. Absolutely stuffed to the brim and the quality is honestly on the next level. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend for any special occasion, such a beautiful setting. Special nod to Giorgio for his warm welcome and making my husbands 40th birthday celebrations even more special! We will be back!!

Portions large. Food quality not as high as expected for the pricing. Service good. Lived in Italy for a year and expected slightly better of the food (smaller portions with better presentation, flavours and quality). Overpriced.

My steak was lovely, however my wife’s lasagne had obviously been reheated one time too many and she’s had food poisoning for the last 36 hours

Excellent food as always. Great range of fish dishes, including Sea Bream and halibut, chicken, steaks and lamb. Every dish is cooked to order so can take a little while but the wait is well worth it. Vegetables cooked to perfection with slight bite and great taste. Not cheap, but the quality of the food, service and setting make it good value. Never disappoints.

A Fantastic waterside Italian restaurant set in stunning surroundings, the food was excellent, I had lobster thermidor for my main & my wife had fillet steak medallions with a parmesan blanket & to say it was fine dining wouldn't be overrating it, beautifully presented & served by friendly staff this culinary gem is definitely not one to miss!

Its a shame. San Giovanni used to be excellent. Its now gone downhill. Its far too loud to think now, impossible to have a conversation. Service was inattentive and unhelpful.

Very disappointing evening. Visited for my daughter’s 18th birthday. On arrival ordered drinks in the bar Drinks arrived all good Started drinking drinks and a member of staff comes over and asks for Id for my daughter. She didn’t have it with her but explained she was 18, didn’t have her physical id but had digital copy. She says No problem. Then rudely interrupted by the male bartender who comes over and grabs the drink. Speaks to us like children. Says she can’t drink in the bar without a physical copy of the id. This is fine but don’t just take the drink. Didn’t even offer to take an order for an alternative drink so she sat there for the next 15mins without a drink The same rude Barmen then decided to dress down the waitress in front of everyone. Time and a place! The food was very good apart from there being a spider in the pasta which was replaced. This would have been a one star review had it not been for the excellent service received upstairs in the restaurant The guy downstairs needs to take a look at his attitude and management should take him to task.

Went for an anniversary, however not the romantic evening we had planned due to poor service and long wait for a server to take our orders. Front of house staff very attentive and friendly. Table waiter however was very rude, even shaking her head when there was a question over the ingredients in a dessert (they didn’t know if the cheesecake had gelatine in). Food was fresh and ok value for money. Overall a fancy setting, you get what you pay for in terms of food and the night will depend on who serves you!

Over-priced mediocre food. Service is unfriendly and slow. I went there for my wife’s birthday and was thoroughly disappointed. They couldn’t cook a well done steak and when it did finally arrive my wife had finished her meal. Steak was fatty and cheap. Don’t waste your money on this place as you will be very disappointed. I heard a rumour that one of the staff smiled once, but I’ve never seen anyone smile.

A truly stylish and elegant evening. The person who seemed to be in charge was charming and confident. Turned out he was a new employee! All staff were efficient and pleasant. Food, veggie, was very good. More biscuits are needed with the cheese! More lighting in the car park would be helpful. All in all, very good indeed and worth the expense.

I've been here to dine on many occasions for a family get to gether about 9-12 in our group sometimes. Lovely surroundings in the countryside by a river. The service here is fabulous nothing is too much trouble for the staff so thank you. The only negative thing I can say is the food is only mediocre nothing great to write about its just OK.

Visited on a Friday early evening for a meal with the family. The drive in towards the restaurant looks quite special, with a modern looking building and grand entrance gates leading to plenty of parking. The food is expensive but we couldn't fault it. Very well presented tasted fantastic. I had the brie stuffed chicken, wrapped in ham, and it was absolutely superb. I also liked the Asahi on tap. The one thing that let the experience down was the service. It was incredibly slow, and there didn't seem to be any particular reason for it as the restaurant wasn't full, and there was plenty of staff around. We had to get their attention several times and then sit waiting for someone to come back. The staff weren't rude, they were just inattentive and spent time laying cutlery on empty tables, rather than looking after guests. So, it put a dampener on the evening and I wouldn't visit again because of the service. I expected more based on how expensive the food is.

I went here with family on the 22nd September for a birthday meal. Walked in and the service was prompt and we was quickly seated in the bar area, and our drinks orders were taken. Shortly after, we were seated upstairs at our table. Now I personally love that the staff took a while to come to us after we were seated because I feel like restaurants like this one, you're there for the experience of dining there (unlike some restaurants which are designed for you to eat quickly so they can get more customers in replacement of you) It allows you ample time to look through your options and decide what you might fancy to eat, but I can understand that this may be a downside to some people. This isn't a cheap place with mains ranging up to £45 (and even higher depending on your choices) but the quality of the food is impeccable and you definitely get what you pay for. Yes, meals are simplistic and don't have much to them, but they are incredibly flavourful for what you're getting. Overall, the restaurant has a level of class which many restaurants lack. Expensive? Yes. Will you be paying a lot of money? Potentially yes (depending on how you view money and value for money in relation to food) but it is definitely a place in which you'll have a wonderful evening. There's a level of confidence which is visible by the way they operate.

Not answering the phone for bookings and when turned up, although the place was completely empty, they said it was fully booked.

Very pleasant location for a pre-meal drink, followed by a superb meal. All 4 of us had starters which were top quality and also generous portion sizes. My main of risotto al frutti di mare and calamari starter were as good as anything I have eaten in Italy . The chef certainly knows how to cook seafood. Service was brilliant, and a good choice of drinks. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had.

Booked a table at what was once our favourite restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. 2 years ago, we had cause to complain about a rude and discourteous waiter. I have numerous emails apologising and assuring us that he would be taken off front of house duties until he met their high standards. We have been back several times since with no issues. However last night we had the misfortune of being seated by this waiter again. My first annoyance was the fact that instead of going behind me to place my side plate, he just leant straight across me with his arm in my face, in between myself and my wife. He then took our order. My wife ordered her favourite go-to meal but got the words round the wrong way. He belittled her by looking at her and corrected what she was ordering. We asked for a green salad but asked that it contains no Rocket as neither of us like it. Our meals were served by lovely staff and were constantly asked if we required further drinks etc, As our mains were served, the salad was put in front of us, full of Rocket, and for the 1st time since taking the order, he was standing behind the waitress. We refused the dish, and it was duly replaced At the end of the meal, the manager asked if everything was OK and I told him it was not. I relayed what had happened and the fact that this same waiter was supposed to have been retrained/ disciplined for the exact same thing from a previous visit, #Rocketgate, only the other time he held a bottle of water against my face when I asked if it was chilled. The manager apologised, but as we were leaving, he attempted to make excuses for his waiter, saying "he's not a nasty man it was just his way". I replied if that's his way, then he shouldn't be in this profession, let alone front of house and that we will not be returning. Again the manager Georgio apologised and we left, as we told him we will never be returning.

Fantastic food with fabulous service in a dining room with great views. Prices are quite high as one might expect for such a good experience.

What a wonderful meal we enjoyed here on Wednesday 31st July 2024. The food was amazing and the service impeccable. Our table of 5 was very well looked after. The staff were very welcoming and superbly attentive, yet never overbearing. We were given plenty of time to enjoy our meals and drinks. I called ahead to order a bottle of Prosecco for the table on arrival, and it was ready for us, with the waitress poised to serve this just after were we seated. The restaurant was busy, and yet our meals were all served in good time. We were never made to feel rushed or otherwise. The portions were generous and the menu extensive. Great quality food and at a very good price too. This was my first visit, and I will most certainly be returning. It was well worth the hours drive from our home.

Everyone seems to rant and rave about this place, and so I thought I’d give it a go. I must admit, given the price and the quality of food, I was slightly disappointed. -The location is beautiful, there’s no doubt about it, truly breathtaking and superbly decorated, real class. -Drink choice was excellent, slightly overpriced but a nice upmarket range -Starters; all, excellent! Would recommend the Cozze (mussels) -Main course - disappointing. We waited over 30 minutes after our starters, and the wait staff apologised due to the back log in the kitchen (on a Monday night they can’t cope???). The food came and it was slightly bland. It lacked any real flavour and speciality given the price and location. I must admit, the meal I had at Amore Mio in Nuneaton was much, much better (and a fraction of the price). -Service was nice, staff were friendly and attentive to drinks etc, nothing special, but nothing lost. A friendly team! -Location, location, location!! If this wasn’t in the location it was, I doubt it’d be half as busy because the price and food quality don’t reflect the end product and expectation. Overall - a friendly but overly priced restaurant in a nice setting, with distinctly average Italian food. Don’t rush here.

Truly tasty food. Good quality. Much nicer setting when sun is shining but still a nice place overall. Service could improve a tad. If you want to take service to that next level you need to train waiters on interactions. Overall very happy. Have been 3 times.

We went here as somewhere special for our wedding anniversary. Starters were okay and the best part of the meal, but I feel thathe food is overpriced and not that good. I had the fillet steak and lobster. The steak had stringy sinew running through it, which was difficult to cut and the lobster was overcooked. My husband had fillet steak which came swimming in a plate of peppercorn sauce with that many whole peppercorns that my husband had to keep spitting them out into his napkin. Presentation is not a priority, I had brown lettuce in my garnish and I feel that they have become complacent in belief that every plate of food sent out is perfect and will hear nothing different. I will not be returning, I've had better pub food at a fraction of the cost. You live and learn!

Fantastic took parents here both are over 80 and thought it was wonderful. They enjoyed everything and want to go again. Glad I introduced them to this wonderful place. Will definitely be back again. Food was good not great, the place is pretentious as it gets though, make sure you're dressed accordingly! We got upsold olives which cost £5, I'd have never ordered if I didn't think it came with the bread. We ordered the bread and got asked would you like olives with that, so I said sure, expecting a couple on the side not a portion of 20 costing as expected for 20 olives really. Also asked for water on the table which is normally free but because they brought out bottled that was also £5. My partner loved dining here, I said I don't want to go back. If you like posh dining and aren't fussed about the cost of things, you will most likely love this place.

This is such a lovely place we have been so many times mostly for special occasions. We sat outside on the balcony. It was stunning, perfect food, perfect weather, perfect evening.

San Giovanni's is our absolute favourite restaurant. While it is fairly expensive I think the quality of the food and the experience more than justify it. Certainly somewhere to save up for and go for a special occasion or a really nice date night. The T bone steak is my personal favourite whilst my wife adores the goat cheese tart and duck tagliatelle. On a warm summers evening a meal sat out on the balcony is nothing short of bliss and something you should request as long as you don't suffer from hay fever. I've been many times and will continue to visit.

Excellent food, wine and service in a beautiful location. Had lunch on the balcony with a view of the lake - fab!

The booking time I made was confirmed, only when we turned up, we got told we were 2 hours late... Turns out they had booked us in at the wrong time, not a great start but was a weird reaction, and made to feel like I was in the wrong. Starters and mains were very good. We both enjoyed those. Ordered a tiramisu to finish up and has got to be one of the worst I've experienced. 100% was bought in frozen and defrosted with a fresh sprinkle of chocolate powder. It was tasteless, dry and the texture was way off the mark. 1 star removed for the booking problem, and not because of the mistake, because of the hostility. And 1 star removed for the excuse of a tiramisu. I think that's more than fair for my review. Would we return? Yes, but not in a hurry.

Such a stunning restaurant, and a really lovely place for either lunch or dinner. We had a very relaxed lunch - stunning food and some lovely non-alcoholic cocktails.

Great experience, lovely staff, nice variety of Italian food, very well prepared and served. Location is great, views over the lake, terrace, bar and table service outside. Downside is the small parking area and the lack of online table booking possibility.

went here a few weeks ago and was very underwhelmed, didnt like the atmosphere lots of staff hanging about made us unwelcome. starters not a patch on san carlo in leicester town. mains were pasta they were large portions and tasty but i had a hair in mine they then made me another one but by that point i was full and partner was finished eating. didnt feel that they cared much for the inconvenience it caused and still made us pay for all food at the end, didnt realy apologise appropriately. i would not go here again. we love italian food but this place was not for us. pretentious!

Very disappointed in the food and overall service/experience. Table wasn't ready at the time we booked for and it took almost an hour to get our starters, both of which were very bland. Main courses also left a lot to be desired, the seafood risotto sounded beautiful ,but with 6 gritty mussels,a single tiny inedible langoustine and 4 small pieces of overcooked squid it was not upto scratch. Whilst the venue looks great and does have makings of something wonderful, it lacks so much of what could make this place special. Staff didn't seem interested in asking how our meal was and we were ignored when commenting our thoughts on the food and just offered a desert menu, we should have left there and then, as the desert we did order was again bland and overpriced for what tasted like microwave pudding. All style with no substance.

San Giovanni restaurant and bar which is located in lovely Atherstone area, it is an absolutely amazing gorgeous stunning place, the views across the tranquil lake is a sight to behold, you eat on the balcony, you can eat outside on the terrace or you eat inside overlooking the lake. This is definitely a place of class, the welcoming hosts is worthy of royalty, the decor is charming and befitting of a king or queen. The food selection is impressive, the service is attentive, relaxed and friendly. The food is freshly cooked, tasty and flavoursome, the portion size is just right. I seriously can’t fault this place, yes it’s not cheap, but it’s seriously quality and can’t wait to celebrate another occasion or just make one up just to return again

Nothing special! Food 5 to 10. Services 3 to 10. Expensive for what you get. If you go for drinks only is ok. The Aperol was made perfect all the rest a delusion!
