San Carlo Cicchetti- Covent Garden in City of London, Westminster

Everything was perfect. Italian small plates are a great idea!!! Garlic bread, ceasar salad, pollo milanese, risotto, and fried zucchini. So good. Our selected wine was just ok (pinot grigio). The service was great. Food started slow and came out fast at the end. Excellent!!

Visited San Carlo Cicchetti on two occasions. The first time we were happily accomodated, although a late evening booking, and experienced excellent meals. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and two of our group had a 'seafood stew' which were enormous and contained a large variety of beautifully cooked seafood. Our second visit was for lunch and I had monkfish with a seafood sauce which was absolutely delicious. The sweet was a 'sharing dessert' - a selection of small portions of every sweet on the menu; they were all terrific. All of this along with very good wine and friendly, efficient service has ensured that a third visit is guaranteed.

Booked for my wife's special birthday on 24/10/2024. Sat at the table and proceeded to place an order with the waiter (who later advised that he was the manager). I was told that we could not order the separate starters we opted for, as the kitchen was preparing four set starters and we would have to choose from these ??????? Obviously we declined and left the restaurant without eating. Never have I come across such stupid behaviour from a restaurant employee. On leaving the restaurant we were asked by another employee, why we chose not to eat there. They could not believe what they were told. Fortunately for us, we revisited the Fishworks restaurant where we dined the night before, and we had a superb meal, with excellent service from staff. I have no hesitation in giving the Fishworks a 10/10 rating, and the CICCETTI a rating of 0/10.

Went there for my birthday, had a very pleasant time. The food is delicious and is good portion as well.

We did not have a good experience at Cicchetti as, although we have very good service from our lovely waitress Maria, the food was not good and one of our dishes never arrived.

Whilst the service was good, the food was disappointing. I met up with a friend for lunch and we ordered five dishes between us. We ordered prosecco rose which we both noted was cool rather than cold, but neither wanted to make a fuss. When the sauteed spinach arrived, we had to return that, as it was full of grit and could not be eaten. All the dishes, with the exception of the broccoli, (that we ordered to replace the spinach) arrived luke-warm. The food was very average and uninspiring. Added to that, the ladies' toilets were dirty and smelly at 12pm opening time. One of the issues with the location of the toilets is they are right next to one of the entrances to the restaurant and are actually in the foyer of the entrance. They can be easily accessed by members of the public. They had a candle burning, but the ladies' toilets smelled like urine and did not look or smell like they had been cleaned even though the restaurant had only opened.

What can I say? Italian tapas! What's not to love? Food was great, lots of choice. Staff were friendly and efficient. Will definitely go again

We visited early evening on a Saturday. The restaurant was packed which I always think is a good sign. Our waitress was very friendly and explained the dishes come out as and when they're ready. We had the sharing seafood to start and some pizza dough mozerella sticks. The kitchen had forgotten we requested no scallops so she took it back and brought extra calamari. The prawns were absolutely huge! I'd ordered the lemon sole and my husband beef, with potatoes and broccoli to share. I'd finished mine at least 15-20 mins before his beef arrived, despite chasing long before. By which time of course the sides were cold. Whilst I get the mezze style concept, you wouldn't expect one dish to arrive by itself so far after everything else. We sent the beef back as it was just too late. The food was good but it seemed a bit chaotic. The poor waitress was clearly trying her hardest. A tall guy who presume is the manager had quite a go at her on the restaurant floor

Pasta was spot on. The pizza was worse than the pizza you’d buy from Aldi and raw. Small plates and price throws you a bit. Overall a disappointment

We finished our meal still hungry, and we'll never go there again. When we sat down, the waitress told us the dishes are "medium sized". This was an excuse to serve small dishes at a high price. We had 5 dishes, 4 of them cost more than 10 pounds. None of them was at a legitimate size, or tasted good. 1. Calamari dish includes exactly 6 pieces 2. Pasta Bolognese barely includes meat, only sauce. 3. Pasta Norma tastes like pasta with ketchup 4. Garlic bread was thin and a bit burned 5. Carpacio had exactly 4 pieces To make things worse, the waitress kept trying to make us order more stuff. She kept asking if we want water, more drinks and more food. We declined again and again, it was annoying and made us uncomfortable. To sum it up, this place was expensive for no reason, with bad service

We passed by the restaurant and as it looked cozy and with many guests we went in for dinner. As for the starters the arugula salat on the bruschettas were not fresh and the tomato slices in the buffalo mozzarella were extremely thin. The pasta in the bolognese was overcooked and the lobster ravioli tasted more of fish than lobster…all in all quite disappointing.

Very bad attitude from manager. My sister paid the bill with £140 in cash and after incorrect change being given, the Manager said she only paid £120. Eventually sorted but no apology and they kept us waiting for ages. Begrudgingly repaid the correct change and walked off. Disappointing after otherwise a lovely meal.

Overall, I was disappointed. The atmosphere and waiting staff were superb, not so the food however. My breaded veal was thin, dry, hard and not overly flavoursome. I was provided a steak knife to get into it! My (x3) prawns were OK, but not outstanding given the price. A friend's pizza was very slow to be served...and was then dropped by the waiter right by the table. Another friend's french fries arrived after everyone had finished their dishes and plates were ready to be cleared away. I understand to expect London prices in a tourist area, but this was not worth the money. Essentially this is tapas, but at main course prices. One last thing about the torn / worn seating material on the long bench, this doesn't give a great impression and needs to be replaced!

Great Italian spot! They’re very busy though which makes you feel ignored at times. Food is excellent!

Went there with my daughter & baby , the staff were just so wonderful. Food was yummy , Tapas style but generous and good variety. We left full and their wines are lovely too. Look forward to returning soon.

No stars was not possible. I went through the back way with my mother. Asked for a walk in table for 2 and was advised yes thats fine please go to the front. I spoke to lady at the front smiled stated sorry I don't have a reservation but if I could possibly have a table for 2 that would be great. It was around 4ish so not busy. I walked through the resturant so there were loads of tables especially just for 2 people. The bar was practically empty. The lady just looked at me and stated sorry I dont have ANY tables for walk ins especially at this time. Not at the bar either. She didn't also give me any possible waiting times. She just wanted us gone. Very unwelcoming and clearly have a niche clientele. Which is not me... Hijaabi and Arab.

We echo the small portion size comments of other diners but the food is spectacular. The venue does get very noisy and the tables are very crowded. This is a perfect stop before the theatre as they have a menu designed for the occasion- and any night out that would include tapas here is a special occasion.

Recently visited a lovely Italian restaurant with a tapas-style menu. The food was outstanding—full of fresh, authentic flavours—but the portions are quite small, so it's best if you're in the mood to sample a variety of dishes. While perfect for a light meal, I'd recommend it more for lunch, brunch, or a special occasion rather than a hearty dinner.

You never go wrong with cicchetti

Lovely food, love the tapas idea of the menu we got to try some new things as well as dishes we knew we would like. Friendly staff too.

Lovely evening out, only slightly spoiled by our overeating. The truffle ravioli is delicious! The seafood platter is pretty good, the squid was still tender and the scallops were juicy. The cannoli were massive. The restaurant is slightly different as they serve small plates designed for sharing. They recommend 5-6 plates between two. We had 5 plates plus a desert each and that felt like too much.

Showed up before the theatre with no reservations and they were packed and they still accommodated a table for 4 and provided excellent food and service. Great for vegetarians.

I have dined at Cicchetti’s Covent Garden several times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience everytime. I especially enjoyrd the ravioli aragosta and the calamari. The spaghetti carbonara is just wow!!! Just one thing needs improving PLEASE the espresso is far to weak and watery is without crema and it MUST be served in a demi tasse. Where would you be served an espresso in Italy served in an English cup ? No where !!!!

We went for dinner here a couple weeks ago and the food was amazing. Sadly a couple of the options we wanted were sold out but that speaks more on the quality of the restaurant because it was very busy. We got seated at the back so it was hard to find a server and it was quite loud for us but then again it was very busy so can’t complain. We definitely ordered too much (I recommend 2 per person at the most) but it was all delicious. Only thing I can fault was that the service felt rushed and they weren’t the most patient but then again they were busy so that’s probably why :)

We were delighted to be able to return to Cicchetti in Covent Garden as our first time some years back had been very positive. This time, we were less impressed. Our waitress was the best bit. She was friendly and genuine. Some aspects of the food were not as good as we had remembered; our water was served luke warm and the bread was stale. Pasta and pizza were good, as was dessert.

Nice location and a surprisingly large restaurant yet still manages to have a more intimate, cosy feel. Would suggest booking, certainly if a weekend as can get busy as we were lucky walking in and being able to take the only outside table which worked well. Concept consist of ordering multiple smaller plates (think along the lines of Tapas) yet obviously an Italian restaurant. Food was decent, some dishes much better than others, for example we particularly enjoyed the sea bass baked in black salt. Portions aren't massive and so be aware as with Tapas costs can mount. Staff friendly and accommodating, couple of gaps in knowledge encountered but they do have a substantial menu to deal with. Overall an enjoyable experience that we'll return to in future. Cost wise we didn't have lots of dishes and it came to about £65 each but did include a bottle of wine and I had a liquor coffee, so not cheap but there again not extortionate for the area and quality.

Don’t go there!! Quite simply, we asked for a quiet table for 2 at midday having pre-booked and were offered a corner table. There were 2 other people in the place then as we deliberately booked to eat early and have quiet time. I asked if the very close-set table next door for six was booked and the waiter said it was not. So, a noisy party of six people promptly arrived after our food had been served, who told us they HAD pre-booked, which ruined our lunch and long overdue catch-up. It was also dishonest of the restaurant.. Seriously, do not visit this restaurant unless you want to be surrounded by noise, arrogant staff and a total lack of service, focus or communication. I very rarely Write negative reviews but Ciccetti’s really deserve this. Never again. Also, over-priced and they do not bring out the set menu (advertised at the door to get people in!) unless You specifically request it.. say no More..

Personale eccellente. Non appena arrivati nonostante il locale fosse pieno ci hanno accolto e trattato come a casa… Un piccolo angolo d’Italia a Piccadilly circus… Buona carta dei vini e pietanze di qualità sopra la media… Da ripetere certamente…come d’altro canto abbiamo fatto!!!

Have been here 3 times in the last year and everything has been 1st class. We brought family over from Italy a couple of days ago and they were greatly impressed saying the restaurant was the genuine article and as good as anything back home. I love the consistency of the food and it is really one of my favourite places to eat in London or anywhere else for that matter. Simple, uncomplicated, flavoursome food at reasonable prices.

Had a 6:30 pm reservation, they told us we had to move or leave within 50 minutes because they had a big table coming in. Hostess rude. Management rude. Don’t waste your money.

The service and atmosphere was great but the food was an absolute let down. I don’t think you can call this Italian food. The lobster pasta tasted like they had poured Heinz tomato soup on top of frozen ravioli. The carbonara was overcooked so the egg scrambled. The pasta in the aubergine baked Norma was completely undercooked and raw. All the sauces tasted like they got it straight from a can without any seasoning or flavour. For the prices I would have expected a higher standard, rather than Tescos ready meal quality. Really disappointed and won’t be going back.

We had arrived a bit ealier than our booking and was immediately greeting by a lovely hostess who had told us the table wasn't availble yet and will have it ready as soon as possible, in the meantime we got to sit at their beautiful bar with a large selection of drinks and were given menus to browse while we waited. The gentleman behind the bar was very patient with me as I tasted some wines to see what I would enjoy and chose one that I loved practiaclly right off the bat. We eventually had a conversation with a gentleman called Fabrisio (i hope i spelt that correctly) Who we made aware of our plans for afterwards as it was a special occation. He was prompt with taking our orders and making sure that we'd have our food ready as soon as possible to make sure we weren't on a time crunch, and had a lovely conversation with him in french. The wine and cocktails we're lovely and the food was gorgeous. All the staff we had chatted to that evening were cheerful, were an absolute joy to talk to and each bought their own individual energy to the restaurant making it such a warm and enjoyable environment. I didn't get many photos because we were enjoying our meals far too much. The portions are very healthy and the chefs know what they are doing and are incredible. 10/10 will definitely be coming back again!!

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service is friendly. However, the overall dining experience was disappointing. The calamari was bland and only saved by the dip; it was also slightly chewy. The gnocchi wasn't bad but lacked flavour and was on the blander side as well. Additionally, the portions are much smaller than expected, leaving us hungry. While the tapas style of serving dishes as they are ready is a fun concept, it can be stressful if you are short on time. It also means that if you have different dietary preferences, not everyone can eat together. The wine selection is good, but they couldn't tell us which ones were vegan. The portions and lack of taste make the price points for each dish too high, in my opinion. I think there are better places to eat nearby.

Love this place! The food was excellent, and the appetizer-style theme of ordering many portions shared by the table works great for a family of five.

Had a lovely lunch here with my family to celebrate my daughter's graduating Art school. The food was amazing with the truffle ravioli being a particular favourite. The staff were all lovely and the atmosphere was great. My only criticism was the wine mark up, way more than it should but overall a lovely place to eat

I recently dined at San Carlo Cicchetti in Covent Garden and had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was chic and welcoming, and the service was attentive. The Italian small plates were delicious and perfect for sharing. It's an ideal spot for a pre-theater meal or a casual lunch in a vibrant part of London. Highly recommend!

Waiters were great. Restaurant was lovely food was great. I love the fact that once the food was ready it would come out no matter the order and it was loads to sharing plates so we all had a taste of each other’s meals really great concept. Very fair price too for the quality of food received.

My friend suggested I go here and I'm so glad she did! The staff was so kind and attentive at the Covent Garden location. This was the last dinner of my trip and what a way to end it! I love the tapas idea, it allowed us to try 3 different items and they were all very delicious. Today my girlfriend and I decided to go to this restaurant, we live in London and we’ve been few times to other Cicchettis before, so we decided to try even this one. A young lady was our waitress, and from the very first moment we felt really uncomfortable: when she took our orders we initially asked her for an advice, but she started judging our food preferences, making us feel as we ordered too much food. If I have to be honest this made both of us feel really embarrassed since there were other people next to us. Later on, when the food arrived it wasn’t even that much, since Cicchetti’s dishes are not usually big, so we felt disappointed by her suggestions. If we knew this before, and if she actually knew how to advise people, we definitely would have order something different and not waste the money with something that we thought was completely different from what she told us. Anyway, in the future we will avoid this restaurant. I also recommended this restaurant to my friends before, but after today I will never do it again. No one should ever comment on clients’ food preferences, shame on you if you allow this kind of behaviour by your employers.

Our party had a variety of food here. Meat, Fish, Pasta and Pizza. We all agreed it was delicious. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere too. I’d definitely come again.

Service was efficient and friendly with the usual underlying hint of insincerity. The dishes were inconsistent in quality e.g. melanzane Di parmigiana was excellent for the first portion, but when a follow up plate was ordered, a dish with a thick tomato sauce arrived, devoid of aubergine. Company was great and everybody enjoyed their desserts. Over priced for average food is a fair assessment of our visit.

Hey PEOPLE!!! Coming from someone who has traveled the world for 30 years and eaten the best places from street food to high end... THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST DISH FOR SEAFOOD LOVERS.... SEA FOOD LOVERS!!! It's called Tagliolini CRAB AND CAVIAR..... Let me explain: It is fresh caviar and crab with pasta. The flavor is AMAZING!. The flavors keep coming in your mouth for 2 mins after!!! LOVE IT..... Like a POSH FISH N CHIPS :) Come try it and YOU'LL KNOW...

A nicely decorated Italian restaurant. It is definitely pricey so make sure you're able to afford it before you go in. The menu is essentially small plates that are priced like premium big plates. We paid about £5 per ravioli on our plate - that's right, must be some of the most expensive mouthfuls I've had in my life. Nevertheless, I will it was delicious and the interior is very nice as well. The staff were friendly but could have been a bit more attentive to us given the stature of the restaurant (according to the pictures, Mark Wahlberg has been here). If you want a fancy Italian and are prepared to pay for it, this might be the place for you. I personally think it's not actually worth the price though.

This Italian restaurant was one of the best places I've ever eaten! I came here with my sister to celebrate our birthdays. The service was impeccable - the staff were very welcoming and had really stunning decor. It's definitely Instagram worthy! One of the best dishes I loved is the mushroom risotto. I couldn't believe how much flavour was in this dish considering that it was vegetarian - even when I couldn't eat anymore. I also ordered a peach white wine which tasted surprisingly fresh. Highly recommend those who love a great dining experience that is welcoming with fantastic quality food. I can't wait to come back soon.

Lovely restaurant but tables too close and too small for lots of small plates. Food was delicious apart from soggy broccoli which we sent back. Service was a bit slow … we got our wine but had to ask for water at least 3 or 4 times.

Expensive prices for small dishes that are not really worth the price. Very mediocre food that doesn't look aesthetic either. Arancini stuffed with peas? When it says it's full of cheese and beef. A restaurant too bright for an evening restaurant. The waiter did not know how to recommend us the cocktail.

The sea bass is just spectacular. Loved the service.

Very very disappointed. Everything lacked flavour. Arancini had no beef ragu inside even though the menu states it is ‘filled’ with it. Ribeye was disappointing (0 flavour). I was expecting small dishes but 2 olive sized fish pieces for a ‘medium’ dish was surprising. Also didnt like the fact that i had trays of hot food constantly over my head. The Panna Cota was delicious though and the only positive for me.

Lovely Italian food with wonderful staff, special mention to Miriam who went above and beyond. Highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly and efficient service. We tried small plates as rather encouraged in that direction but with the exception of the sea bass which was delicious they were a little disappointing especially the breaded chicken. Excellent wine.

As always lovely food. Have now been there 7 times in total. Despite the fact that they write, that you have tabled for 2 hours, when you make the reservation, this time we were kicked out by a waiter after 1.5 hours because they had another reservation for the table. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

I enjoyed the concept of Italian Tapas very much! Every single dish was absolutely amazing. The service was very attentive. A beautiful restaurant. Looks small from the outside, but is actually very big inside.

Used to be better, ravioli lacked sauce and flavour. Pasta bolognese was over cooked. They didn't know how to do a traditional Italian Macchiato ! Service not what we expected from an Italian restaurant. Wanted more Italians and atmosphere. Disappointed as have previously enjoyed.

I went there with some mates, we didn't have a reservation, even though it was rather busy, but they made room for us. The inside looked very nice with photos on the wall signed by celebs. The food was really nice, I had some pizza and carbonara, my mates got some seafood .

Really very disappointing. We were told that good would come out at different t times not together. Very annoying. Had the pizza which was very dry and tasteless. Chicken Milanese my friend had was better. Waitrose tried to tell us what yo have. Had to prompt her several times for our drinks and water.

When we arrived we were greeted and then promptly made to wait while the lady took a phone call, eventually another member of staff saw us and saw us to our table. The waiters were very friendly and welcoming and couldn't fault them. The actual restaurant has a nice feel to it and is bright and clean, there are some dated pictures on the wall of celebrities who have dined there but I wouldn't return. The food is overpriced and average. We were informed that the menu could also be made into tapas style plates so we could share and try several dishes which in theory was a good idea. As my companion wasn't able to eat much we decided to share a main course but as a traditional main not tapas. But they brought our food put as if it was. The bruschetta arrived along with one of our veg main side dishes, followed by the other our other starter. Then our other veg main side dish of spinach. Barely finishing our starters our main course of fish skewer arrived. We were sharing, what was described as prawns (plural), scallops (plural) and monkfish. As it turned out we split 1 prawn, 1 scallop and 1 cube of monkfish between us and for £17.95 we were not about to order a second. After we had finished everything our side order of roast (not roasted) potatoes arrived which were very underwhelming too.

The service was average, the food was appalling. A colleague ordered the chicken and it was completely raw - the staff were mildly apologetic however it is really not good and enough, and it’s also dangerous. The £25 rib eye steak was thin, chewy, and small. Such a shame, I’ve walked past this restaurant many times and often thought how nice it looks from the outside. All show, no substance.

Great food and service was fabulous. We were a table of 8 and with folks that are not quick on the draw with their choices. The staff were super patient and it was a lovely meal. The restaurant is very busy but not so much that it compromised the attention to our table. Definitely recommend.

I had pasta&lamb with tomato sauce, I didn't find any particular taste, tomato sauce without any taste, otherwise the restaurant was very nice, fast and pleasant service, my friend had scallops which was very good 😘
