Pizza Express in City of London, Westminster

We arrived bang on time for our 5.30 reservation, to be greeted and taken downstairs and sat in a table in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by pretty much empty tables. Compared to upstairs which was bright and lively ( and not full...) I could only describe downstairs as bleak. We ordered relatively quickly but I had to ask three times for tap water, I was incredibly thirsty and was on the verge of pouring my own glass (!) when my daughter asked for a third time and it finally came. The dough balls arrived very quickly, followed swiftly by the pizzas. As we were only half way through the dough balls they took them back and kept them warm. They returned with them about 10 minutes later and they were tiny ...also very over seasoned and greasy. All in all very disappointed, and wish we had gone to one of the many different restaurants in the area.

Ordered a vegan option that wasn't really available but they catered for my choice anyway. Great abd helpful staff

We had two hungry and tired children and a dog in tow - not a great combination when so many places are not dog friendly. The team set us up on an outside table, pizzas were ordered and peace ensued! We received friendly service, delicious, quickly served food and the bonus of kids eat free 😃

Pretty woeful. 5 meals (3x children 2x adults). Eating pre-theatre. If I wasn't time constrained (had to get to the theatre) id have returned my pizza (mushroom) as it was tepid. Only 2x of the children's meals turned up with the other meals and by the time it did eventually show up the rest of the meals were nearly complete (I ate quickly to preserve the little heat in it). The staff were pleasant enough but not enough of them for a busy pre-theatre crowd. I get the impression it could be much more efficient with a few more staff. As I say, was pre theatre and was looking for a good quality relatively quick meal. This was not it.

Brilliant service from Ioannis today. Particularly useful bringing kids food as soon as it was ready leaving them no waiting time between courses.

We booked short notice online, which had not been received by the FOH welcoming gentleman, but despite this, they were eagerly able to seat all 8(!) of us at the height of the pre-theatre rush... well done 👏. I had been here some years ago, but the restaurant is still in great shape and ideally located. We were downstairs in the piano lounge, which is a good space for private hire. Food was to expected high standard and service was good - a little slow but given the full capacity, was hardly surprising and acceptable.

Great visit to this PE. Sat promptly by the manager on duty. Our food arrived in timely manner however there was a longer blonde hair baked into the pizza. The manager apologised profusely and we had a replacement in just a few minutes. We joked about it eliminating all of us at the table, including the manager. He even applied a nice discount on the bill as an apology which wasn’t necessary. We had the BBQ burnt ends and it was cooked to perfection, possibly the best romana base I’ve had from a PE. Will most definitely be back when I’m visiting London again (from Ireland)

Service was very fast and the staff was friendly even though the place was packed . We thought we would be short on time since we had to go to the theatre afterwards, but no, we even had time to spare. would recommend!

I can't give my opinion on the food because they didn't let us in directly claiming that they were late in the kitchen and when we told him that there was no problem in waiting he insisted that we not go in. There are too many restaurants in the area to go to this one.

Very nice and tasty, just a bit loud.

It was a pleasant lunch with friends. The waiter was super attentive, in a good way and very friendly. Our vegan salad was a little bland, but still nice and healthy.

Amazing service and food was really nice, it did get quite empty though and that made the atmosphere a 4 star but still amazing, would recommend.

Visited with a school group, pre-booked. They were fast with the food, and though it was basic options for us as we were a 50 strong party, it was good. Manager was lovely.

The restaurant is good, the pizza is sweet and delicious, but their service is very bad.

We were served by Binoy who was great, took our order promptly and continued to check in to make sure everything was ok. Plenty of seating downstairs which included a piano which although no one was playing when we visited, it makes a nice touch.

Great Pizza and you know what you are going to get. Very busy restaurant but we hadn’t booked but they fitted us in on Thursday evening. Service was exceptional very friendly waitress who deserved the service charge!

Goda pizzor som finns i två olika storlekar. Helt OK pris för att vara en "riktig" pizzarestaurang. Fanns även fler maträtter, exempelvis sallader och pasta. Det gick även att få vegan-meny om någon önskade. Goda drinkar, bra och trevlig personal. Rekommenderas!

Very lively atmosphere and our waitress Magda was particularly good

Booked a table, as had everyone else. Queue out of the door. They were clearly overbooked and understaffed with no one manning the front of house. Manager came over and began to argue with a customer who asked about their booking. Clearly no customer care and the manager needs some conflict resolution training. A simple "sorry we are busy would have de-escalated the situation but he proceeded to vent at the customer for "I only have two legs" not a good look. Never made it to our table and neither did several others who walked out after his outburst after waiti for 20 minutes with staff just walking past the queue forming at the entrance. Shameful.

I don't normally write Google reviews (should get better about that), but I really wanted to share how positive an experience we had with this place! Food was delicious, but more important than that was the friendly, fun, and welcoming energy of the staff. Sasha in particular was amazing. We were 7 hungry adults and 2 children with no dinner plans, and she was the epitome of service with a smile. HIGHLY recommend her and this place for anyone looking to relax and really enjoy their meal with no fuss.

Visiting from out of town, from the moment we walked in staff was very accommodating with our large party. Located right in theaterland, this restaurant is delicious and friendly staff that make you feel welcome. Pizza was amazing! Thin crust cooked perfectly. They have a different variety for everyone. Average food, nothing remarkable. The waiter who served us was the worst. From the first moment the service was terrible. In the end he tried to please but when he saw that we didn't tip him his face changed completely again.

Andrea and her team looked after our school party so well and went the extra mile to make sure one of our pupils had a lovely birthday treat! Would recommend to anyone and especially to those teachers organising a trip. They catered really well for all dietary requirements.

This is the best Pizza Express I've been too. Restaurant has a good atmosphere, all staff are very friendly and accomodating (especially our waiter Ioannis), and the food is delicious.

A big fan of pizza express but this one is letting the brand down, never received a glass for the beer (even after reminding the waiter who just grinned) never received the water ordered for the table, wasn’t given fresh cutlery after starters but luckily (!) we were served our main meals on top of the dirty starter dishes still sitting on the table so had to reuse the cutlery from that, wasn’t checked on once, wouldn’t return

Very helpful team and quick service. We were pre-theatre so timing was important for us - would recommend for pre-theatre eating - very convenient location. We had one normal pizza and one glutenfree vegan pizza (sadly smaller than the normal but tasty).

I’m a Pizza Express gold tier member however was not impressed by my recent visit to the Saint Martins Lane restaurant. Visited between the 2 Harry Potter shows so had a limited timeframe. Solo, so seated at a breakfast bar facing the wall (felt like second class citizen). Serivce slow, pizza not to usual standard. Doesn’t feel like it gives the same service as Pizza Express in other cities, perhaps management are aware they will always be busy anyway due to theatre land location.

A place to eat pizza and pasta but without more.

Went there after winning a gift voucher as a prize in a work competition and was glad I did! Friendly host / manager who was open about staff shortages and may be a delay in service (we didn't notice any issue!). Pizzas and starters tasted great and service was friendly. Only negative was ladies toilets were in need of a little TLC but obviously didn't affect the meal. Will be back!

We ate there by chance, it is a chain and there are many in the city. Normal food, good pizzas. The place is cozy, the only thing is the tables are quite close together and you are very close to the people. The treatment of the waiters and waitresses was excellent, I would say the best thing about the place. The price, as in all of London, high for what it is.

We had dinner in Pizza express St Martins lane today. We had Calabrese pizzas and a few drinks. Pizzas were very tasty recommended by our waitress Magda that was a star. She made our day with such a a great service. She was so caring and attentive with our daughter. We highly recommend this particular pizza express. The decoration was amazing 🤩. Well done 👏 👏👏👏 We are definitely coming back!

Had a nice dinner till the last part where we were just finishing up our drinks and the hostess came by to put some table top on our table and didn’t even say anything. It felt like she wanted to chase us out or trying to prepare the table for the next guests but there were lots of empty tables around then.

We had a quick stop for Sunday lunch in between part one and part two of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I booked a table in advance on Pizza Express official website. We arrived a bit early but there were plenty of tables and we were offered one straight away. I ordered BBQ chicken Romano and it was delicious. My pizza was large and tasty, crusty on the edge and juicy in the middle with big pieces of chicken, lots of cheese and my favourite sun dried tomatoes. We were served by Andrea, she was friendly and kind to us, made us feel welcomed and relaxed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the decor was fresh and artistic, we had a wonderful time and I will definitely recommend this restaurant as a great option for lunch.

Had a lovely trip to Pizza Express in London on St. Martins Lane. Ervin and Giorgio were on our table and were a fantastic pair of waiters. They found us a table quickly and we we had ordered our food within 5 minutes. Great food and the Pollo Pesto Pasta was a real treat! Thank you!

Your standard Pizza Express, but on steroids! 😂 That's just a factor of being in the West End; most people are in a hurry trying to fit in a meal before/after a show (as were we), and I'd definitely suggest booking! Super busy but usual Pizza Express quality, just a shame that they were out of two of the veggie options.

Tasty pizza but the server was very rude when we asked for water then again when we said we didn't want to see desserts. I was about to ask him for the coffee menu but he didn't give me a chance. Forgot the table next to us drink order so had to remake it, then when we asked for the bill he didn't give us a chance to even look at the bill before putting the card machine right in front of me. Watching us the whole time we did the payment, including when clicking yes or no for the tips (I don't personally like doing tips via card machines) then seemed annoyed when we asked for the toilet. Ruined the whole, otherwise lovely, experience.

My wife and I went to this Pizza Express o n Saturday 2nd March. Our olives and drinks arrived quickly but they seemed to forget about our food order as people in larger parties arriving after us had their orders before we had ours. The floor manager spotted the problem and the food arrived shortly afterwards. My wife's pizza looked nice but my calzone and salad looked like it had been thrown together without much thought.
