The basement smells of the sewers. The waiter was rude to the customers and the music was awful and too loud. This is the worst Pizza Exprrss I’ve been in. Will not be going back to this one

The food was good, you can’t really go wrong with pizza. However, the service struggled, though not due to the servers themselves. We arrived pre-theatre and were seated in the basement, which was nearly empty at first but filled up within 15 minutes. With only two visible servers handling everything from orders to drinks, it was clear they were stretched thin. We noticed several guests looking around for service, some even getting up to find a server. The staff did their best, with one server constantly apologising and chasing food through his earpiece, but it was a tough situation. Despite this Management/Reception kept seating guests. Would recommend reviewing staffing, especially during peak times.

The Pizza is as good as one expects from Pizza Express however I went for the jazz in the piano lounge. I love the Jazz at the Dean Street branch however this was completely different. The piano and singer are positioned so that 1/3 of the room can't see them and of the tables that in theory did have line of sight they are laid out with half the seats with their backs to the performers. And the singer wasn't sufficiently amplified. As a result people didn't stop talking during the show which was consequently virtually inaudible. Really this was live background music even though advertised as a show and must have been very disheartening for the performers. Very disappointing.

I had an incredible evening at Pizza express St Martin’s Lane! The atmosphere was absolutely enchanting, with the soothing melodies of the piano setting the perfect tone for the night. The staff were warm and attentive, ensuring we had a memorable experience from start to finish. The food and drinks were exceptional, crafted with care and bursting with flavour. Day in London with the family and we fancied some pizza! Food excellent Atmosphere amazing But some of the staff were not friendly. The waitress that served us was delighted and friendly.very welcoming. Deserved a big tip. However, servers that were not serving my table never smiled and one waiter even pushed past me - no apology either. This was a shame because the lady serving us was very welcoming and the restaurant itself was a wonderful experience, but the people/staff make the place an experience worth every penny.

I ordered a margherita pizza. As everyone knows: cheese, tomato and basil. There was no basil. We had an Aperol Spritz. Since it was so good, we ordered two more, but those came without orange! They ran out too!

Vegetarian pizzas are always great at Pizza Express in particular the one with goat cheese and caramelized onions. BUT service and atmosphere at this particular location is below average. They should work on this. I am disappointed with the management.

We went to visit Pizzaexpress in 80-81 St Martins Lane for lunch this afternoon.We weren't sure where we wanted to dine for lunch but chanced upon this place after visiting Covent Garden. We are glad we certainly chose this place. The atmosphere was amazing. It was spacious and cozy. The staff was super friendly and I must give kudos to one member of staff by the name of Ahmet who served us. He was very polite, courteous and friendly and served up some amazing food. I had the garlic Prawn Pizza which was simply stunning. I highly recommend this Pizzaexpress. It was a horrible, dull and rainy day and visiting this establish for lunch certainly took away the gloomy weather.

I had planed this meal for New year's Eve for months. My family from Spain were over and every time they come to London we go to Pizza Express, they love it. However this time it was a big disappointment. The pizzas were cold, and the service was very slow. When I complained the barman said in a very sarcastic tone that he will bring me another pizza, but that one was also very cold. It was horrendous, we were left thinking we paid a fortune for a very bad meal. Never again!

Gran ambiente y muy ocupado en Nochevieja. El personal era muy acogedor y amable. A pesar de que nos dijeron que había una larga espera para la comida, nuestro entrante llegó en 10 minutos. Luego tuvimos una deliciosa pizza de fiesta de Navidad y una botella de Chardonnay a un precio razonable. La comida estaba bien presentada y perfectamente cocinada. Los baños dejaron mucho que desear, pero eso sería lo único negativo.

Quick service, poor effort on food. Salad was mostly cos lettuce and stale croutons. Desert was older than the croutons. Staff were pleseant food was not .

Shocking customer service. Told to wait maybe 15 mins for a table and up to 45 mins for food. Absolutely no problem waited and then 15 mins later she comes back and says actually no there isn't a table. No one else waiting was told that. When asked why it had changed she said she never said there would be a table. Just say straight away if you can't accommodate people. Whilst waiting she let someone in who claimed to have just booked...yet no reservation recorded and they were seated straight away. Went to Bill's who found us a table and served great food.

I came here a few days ago with my girlfriend and the food was good as you'd expect however the staff and service were horrendous, when paying for the bill we used a discount which was invalid and the lady serving us was absolutely horrid in her attitude when my phone was taking a minute to load and tried to belittle us in her tone and voice and use of sarcasm when we were trying to talk with her. She brought another employee over to us to explain in front of us how "these people won't listen" when we were calmly trying to explain that we were students. Never coming here again👎

some of the members of staff here were patronising when it came to paying the bill, explaining things continously in a condescending tone as if we didn't already understand what was meant, and overall, we were charged unfairly for what we ordered which means this branch certainly will not see us coming back again because we felt unwelcomed and cheated by the system 😡

Very slow service, ended up being late for the theatre.... Not sure why they accept so many bookings if they can't have the staff to serve. Food was lovely though but we had to absolutely rush it down in the space of 5 mins

Worst service ever. Rude staff. Bad food. Deplorable opening hours for central London. Stay away. There are better pizza places in Soho.

Thus is the first pizza express that let us down. We visited hoping for a quick bite before the theatre. We had about 1.5h. Upon being sat down, our food order was taken and the drinks arrived promptly. We never saw any food arriving even though I've asked 3 different staff members - none of the gave us any update. When after 1 hour of waiting, we said we are leaving, and we'll pay only for drinks. Again, it took a while to get the bill. Poor experience - seems the staff doesn't get the "express" in chain name.

Absolutely appalling experience here. Came here to say under a large reservation of students, all paying separately. We were refused use of the company wide 25% off student discount with no explanation. Additionally, the service charge added on, which was absolutely not deserved as many people did not receive their starters and sides until all meals were finished with, as well as some people not even getting there’s at all, was unable to be removed. When I told him my total, I was told that was my total without service charge and I needed to add it on. I then stated that I wasn’t willing to pay that, being a student already denied a student discount along with the lack luster service, and was told it wasn’t optional. The explanation seemed to be that parties bigger than 7 have to pay service charge. This is untrue, as stated on the website, with parties bigger than 7, although the service charge is added automatically, it is optional and able to be removed. This didn’t seem to be the case, leaving one of my friends having to pay £40 for a pizza, a drink and a starter that came 10 minutes after she’d finished her main, and was STILL made to pay service charge. For what service ?! Highly frustrating experience with a lack of communication.

Lovely evening downstairs at the piano lounge. Gio was amazing he made our whole evening. Always on hand whenever we needed something. Pianist was really good, Recommend for a lovely meal out in central London. Also the biscoff cheesecake was unreal. 🍋 💛gio 💛

Llegamos bang a tiempo para nuestro 5 . 30 reserva, para ser recibido y llevado abajo y sentado en una mesa en el medio del restaurante rodeado de mesas prácticamente vacías. Comparado con arriba, que era luminoso y animado (y no lleno...) Sólo podría describir abajo como sombrío. Pedimos relativamente rápido pero tuve que pedir tres veces agua del grifo, tenía una sed increíble y estaba a punto de servir mi propio vaso (! ) cuando mi hija pidió por tercera vez y finalmente llegó. Las bolas de masa llegaron muy rápido, seguido rápidamente por las pizzas. Como solo estábamos a mitad de camino de las bolas de masa las tomaron de vuelta y las mantuvieron calientes. Volvieron con ellos unos 10 minutos después y eran diminutos... también muy condimentados y grasosos. En general muy decepcionado, y desearía haber ido a uno de los muchos restaurantes diferentes en la zona.

My friends and I went to London on a school trip and decided to eat at Pizza Express and that was a really great choice. We were able to enter without a reservation and there were 8 of us, so that worked out great. And then we met the waiter who was really great: Yash. He was very nice and helped us very well, when we wanted a photo he took it and he kept us informed about the promotion/sale they had on the pizzas. Definitely a good and safe place with tasty pizzas <3

A stark contrast to my last visit to a Pizza Express (Upminster). Went on a Wednesday, was nice, quiet, not too many people and i could hear myself think. It was nicely fitted out and seemed to have a piano bar downstairs. No Ubereats or delioveroo drivers wandering around. Food arrived hot and on time, up to the usual tasty standard. Our Waiter Binoy was very polite and think a lot of waiters and waitresses could learn a lot about common courtesy from him. Keep up the good work Binoy!

Pretty woeful. 5 meals (3x children 2x adults). Eating pre-theatre. If I wasn't time constrained (had to get to the theatre) id have returned my pizza (mushroom) as it was tepid. Only 2x of the children's meals turned up with the other meals and by the time it did eventually show up the rest of the meals were nearly complete (I ate quickly to preserve the little heat in it). The staff were pleasant enough but not enough of them for a busy pre-theatre crowd. I get the impression it could be much more efficient with a few more staff. As I say, was pre theatre and was looking for a good quality relatively quick meal. This was not it.

We booked short notice online, which had not been received by the FOH welcoming gentleman, but despite this, they were eagerly able to seat all 8(!) of us at the height of the pre-theatre rush... well done 👏. I had been here some years ago, but the restaurant is still in great shape and ideally located. We were downstairs in the piano lounge, which is a good space for private hire. Food was to expected high standard and service was good - a little slow but given the full capacity, was hardly surprising and acceptable.

Great visit to this PE. Sat promptly by the manager on duty. Our food arrived in timely manner however there was a longer blonde hair baked into the pizza. The manager apologised profusely and we had a replacement in just a few minutes. We joked about it eliminating all of us at the table, including the manager. He even applied a nice discount on the bill as an apology which wasn’t necessary. We had the BBQ burnt ends and it was cooked to perfection, possibly the best romana base I’ve had from a PE. Will most definitely be back when I’m visiting London again (from Ireland)

Service was very fast and the staff was friendly even though the place was packed . We thought we would be short on time since we had to go to the theatre afterwards, but no, we even had time to spare. would recommend!

I can't give my opinion on the food because they didn't let us in directly claiming that they were late in the kitchen and when we told him that there was no problem in waiting he insisted that we not go in. There are too many restaurants in the area to go to this one.

We were served by Binoy who was great, took our order promptly and continued to check in to make sure everything was ok. Plenty of seating downstairs which included a piano which although no one was playing when we visited, it makes a nice touch.
