Hi I've used sams for years. Slowly they have gone further and further down hill .Going back 20 years they were best of the best down station Rd, for take away and eating in .Slowly the standard dropped massively .They can't cook chips they continuously got orders wrong with know apology for years ,to the piont i was threatened at my door for complaining and band .obviously I had enough and one day made my feelings clear this ended up in my ban .so years later I ask friend to pick me up a cod burger as this was a favourite of mine .God I wish I never had this burger turned up first 5 mouthfuls pure batter , this thing they sent me ,well my anonymous friend picked me up was massive 3 times the size of the cod burger I loved with a slice of cheese lettuce and mayo .it was a batter burger oil that had been used for Maybe 10 years disgusting I was ill for two days .I put this down as worst fish and chip on earth 🌎 .I give this 1 star but its really a hell of a lot worse.

Ordered a meal to eat in. One of the staff decided to start moving tables & chairs. Bashed into where I was sitting whilst I was eating. Absolute racket slamming down chairs and totally p***** me off. Left half the meal and will not be going back !!!!

Just had the biggest piece of cod ever! Batter was crispy and tasty and not at all greasy. The cod was freshly white with no bones to be found! Only downside was the price - £12 for a piece of fish without chips!! Get what you pay for eh? Throughly enjoyed my supper - will return! Watch out Wilsons this is far superior!!

My regular go to. Great quality fish and LOADS of chips. Unless you eat huge portions a normal portion of chips feeds 2, large portion feeds 3. Friendly accommodating staff, always willing to cook fresh if you ask.

We visited Sam's fish & chip shop on Station road in Chingford in the hopes of getting some good comfort food. We got the opposite. I ordered a medium cod and a large portion of chips. The portion of chips was the size of a small and mostly consisted of hard greasy the potato ends, rather than nicely cuts chips that would be expected from a traditional chippy. When I queried it the young girl serving me was extremely rude and refused to listen or entertain anything I said. Perhaps she felt entitled because I had alredy paid so she thought she could give us what she wanted, who knows. The more senior members of staff were busy, and so I felt powerless to do anything about it. We also ended up with an extremely dry piece of fish. It was dry to the point of being tough! Not good enough!! Especially when paying £9.50. Not only have the prices gone up, the portion sizes have gone down to match. I know that many restaurants are feeling the pinch with inflation etc. but the customers are too. If customers decide to still support restaurants despite the pinch, resturants should show their gratitude by providing good service and good food. After all, many local restaurants and shops have closed over the last 18-24 months. Local business is important. But they have now lost ours. We will not return. If you want great fish & chips visit Michael's in Leyton. They are fantastic and consistent with their quality.

This is an excellent Fish and Chip shop and the food is really good. My husband and I have used this fish shop for a very long time both picking up and having home delivery. The home delivery is always on time and the delivery man is always very pleasant. The food is cooked to a high standard.

been feeding us for years, fresh fish and great portions of chips. Very friendly and welcoming. No pretentions, just fresh food, during the lockdown they put a table across their entrance and continued to serve us that way.

Since Lockdown have used Sam's delivery service, weekly. After several deliveries over many weeks, now I can honestly say every fish n chip meal has been spot on! The best Skate in town and huge portions. Will continue with Sam's. Keep up your standard!

Decided to try a different takeaway for our fish and chips, and so glad we did. Ordered at the shop via their takeaway service, and had plaice, haddock and cod all with chips. All the fish was absolutely delicious along with lovely chips. Very generous portions, freshly cooked and a fab service received from the staff. Will definitely come here again. Thank you!

We had a family fish and chips lunch and loved the Fish & Chips and service. Due to the recent Covid situation, we called up 15 minutes before, then walked down and collected. Very easy, and food was delicious, fish fresh and batter was crisp.

We were looking to buy fish & chips to take away, so I phoned Sams in advance and placed our order. Twenty minutes later I arrived at the shop to collect it. They were well organised and had everything ready (no problems with distancing), and well wrapped so it was still nice and hot when we got home. The portions were very generous and the food was delicious – we particularly enjoyed the plaice and the rock salmon. Will buy from them again, and I would definitely recommend.

Cannot believe that they have charged me £3 for sauces on a £10 order. This is really terrible practice. Come on guys!

Lots of hot chips but the fish was poor. There was a large covering of greasy batter and the fish was small dry and grey. Not impressed.

When the fish and chips finally arrived they were cold and greasy.they took ages because the delivery man either lost his way or was given the wrong address.No excuse as I live a turning off the shops address.

I just had to write a review as it’s the best local fish & chip restaurant. Way much better than Wilson’s down the same road. It may look more like a cafe then a restaurant but to eat in is just as lovely as to take away. The food is always served fresh and the staff are just so lovely and welcoming you can tell it’s a family business. One of the guys that works there- not sure if it’s the owner is always so friendly and always gives my children a chip lolly which they love. They always make the fish fresh while you wait and the portions are great. Everyone must try Sams :-)

Usually use Sams have done for years cod tonight was grey woolly and stank of amonia never again.went in bin.

This is my go to chippy in the area.I have been coming here for years and over all the time I have been a customer I have found the fish and chips here to be consistently good.It's always very clean here, the servers are friendly and they always cook whatever I ask for from scratch (usually a cod & chips).

Love it here in our traditional visit once a year for the Chingford concert. Portions are a good size. Chips nice and cooked well. Service is friendly. We will be back.

Had a carry out fried chicken and chips here recently.The chips were lukewarm,soggy and had obviously been cooked some time previously and kept in the worktop warmer.The chicken was ghastly,greasy to the extreme,as were the chips incidentally.I would be reluctant to let my dog eat this,never mind a human being.

First visit here. Haddock greasy with a sour after taste. Chips soggy and tasteless. The female waitress whom I assume was part of the owner/management team, was miserable, just put things down on the table without a greeting or smile. Definitely would not return.

There's nothing better than piping hot chips with salt, vinegar or in my case, ketchup, when it's cold outside. I've checked and these chips are fried in vegetable oil not oil used for the fish so it's good for vegans like myself which is great. They even dig out the small crispy bits that I favour over the large chunky chips, if they have them. Staff are always fast and efficient and it's a popular haunt for locals all year round.

having now tried chips from here 3 times, we have decided this will be our fish and chip shop after finding other local shops unsatisfactory with the quality of their food. Our latest outing we ate in and the sausage and chips were freshly cooked and steaming hot,

I usually pop in very late after work when they're winding down and still they're friendly and serve up tasty food (and usually add in some 'extra' too!) at a very reasonable price. Would recommend. Just one comment though - need to keep the lid closed on the chips as they can cool down quickly otherwise! All in all, I'll continue to pop in late!

Sams are great for a great pit shop lunch or a takeaway dinner!The guys that work there are always welcoming and great with my son, they never forget your face and always make an effort to say hello.Not had a disappointing meal from them!

I ordered fish and chips from Sam's and I have to say it was the best I've had in a long time. They always give you good portion sizes and the bonus is the staff are so friendly :-)

To eat here is to enjoy one of the UK's national dishes at its best. The fish is very fresh (not frozen), delivered daily, and cooked to order, so when it's served, be careful not to burn your mouth, because it's very hot. Real chips, too, not the skinny variety. Greasy? Nah. It's all cooked at such a high temperature that the food doesn't get a chance to soak up any oil. Could do with a healthier drinks selection, though, and stuff sticks to the plastic table coverings. Other than that, indulge yourself.

Sams is good value fish and chips, they have plenty of other options available such as kebabs and pizza... Perfect if you and the family fancy different things. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are very big, great value for monday. The fish is always cooked fresh and the cod is massive! The staff are always very lovely and ready to help.There is the option to eat in or takeaway and they accept orders over the phone which can save time, especially on fridays when the que is out the door. Overall this is a great chipppie, best in chingford, very reasonable and friendly staff.

I have visited Sams Fish and Chips store since I was 11 and have always loved there Fish. They make them fresh and you can always swap the fish with a large olive salad which I always do as a healthy dish☺. Friendly staff and excellent service at all times even when they are super busy.

Always come here for my post-yoga class chicken shish, the food is always very fresh and well cooked, the staff friendly and attentive. Have also had fish, chips and various other menu items, always lovely. Allow yourself an extra 5 minutes to get freshly cooked food.

Great place for pretty much anything from Kebabs to Pizzas. A regular haunt for me when I can't be bothered to cook! The staff are friendly and if you call through you can skip the line. The mixed kebab is enough for two people!

This chip shop is absolutely excellent. The staff are really helpful and witty, the place is immaculately clean and tidy selling quality chips and fish. The food is delicious with a range of different things to have from little small snacks to big meals. Very good supper for kids lots of chicken nuggets and fish fingers. We are always greeted so nicely when we visit and is now our local fish and chip shop.
