Nice fish and chip place in Chingford Mount. Apparently its been there for about 50 years: oops that should read nearly 100 years so its a proper and very local institution. Food is good although I find portion size, especially chips to be far too big for me but I'm sure plenty of customers will appreciate that. If you're nearby go in as it's much better than formulaic chicken, burger, kebab joints which seem to be everywhere.

Excellent! Cod and chips was spot on and the owner even gave me a piece of chicken to try on the house which was also very good. Staff really friendly with smiles on their faces and I'm really looking forward to going back soon. Keep up the great work!

Lived on this road for years and never went in until today. I left pleasantly surprised as the staff was very friendly, I was left with an impression that they are proud and really like their workplace. The thing which stood out to me was the cleanliness in the shop which was to a high standard. The chicken burger was spot on just perfect. Chips were good too but the portion was huge and i dont like throwing food away but i had a moment of nostalgia when i seen these chunky chips wrapped in paper. Overall 10/10 for this hidden gem. Had fish and chips last night. As you know the cost of living has changed, don't want to sound old but back in my days, feeding a family of 3. You gave 20 and got change back😄 however this shop the price was worth it, the chips was fresh and a large portion could definitely share. The cod was juicy and not too oily. Well worth it, I would recommend 👌

This used to be the best fish and chips around. I used to buy from here at least 3 times a week but now the people behind the counter have changed and the food is now smaller portions and the price has gone up twice. They don’t change the oil as often and I’ve found red hair in my food twice and a fried hair once. There used to be a friendly young guy behind the counter and since he left, this chip shop is not worth going to.... And that picture of David Beckham is from many years ago when the food was top quality.

Love this plaice. Seriously though, great bunch of people doing fresh food. Could do with a vegan option and had a word with the owner and it might well be happening.

This fish and chips is better than the one in Westminster next to the London Eye. I ate a whole fish, was full and did not even feel heavy afterwards. Talk about quality fish!

My friend Goes here fish and chicken chingford mount road, Guys talk to him, I even spoke to him, doesn't understand, I got 1 chicken and chips, stupid, poor service, Illegal, he ask for £5, for the chips £2.50 i gave him £5, he gave me £2.50 back, I told him to give me fresh chicken big piece, he took half an hour to give the chicken, and paid £2.00, and gave back £0.10 change.. No NHS Discount.. That's Illegal.. The UK laws changing in 2022 New year bringing revised rules on everything from divorce and electric vehicles to plastic packaging, impulse buy aisles in supermarkets and customs controls

Definitely the BEST chippy in Chingford. There’s something on the menu for everyone. The chips are perfect, ( lovely and fluffy in the middle). I love that I can buy a small (OAP) portion. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous. If there is a negative it would be there’s no delivery service. I was unable to go in person during lockdown and shielding and had to try try others who always fell short of the standard offered by’ Chicken and Fish’.

Wow the Food Was Delicious, i had cod and chips with mushy peas , i have never tasted mushy peas before i would highly recommend it , not forgetting the onion vinegar and pickled onions Yummy. 10 / 10.

When I back in Chingford I have to go to the original. The mount is always changing with different shops opening and closing but one place survives. One thing is for sure that Fish and Chicken always delivers food and over the counter service a high standard. Plus the workers are friendly and informative. I got a huge chips and a very tasty chicken, mushroom pie, mushy peas and curry sauce all for a great price. 🏆 ✌️ 💪🏼 Looking forward to next time. ❤️ 🐟 🍟

Previously thought thus was a great fish and chip shop but cider and chips was poor, chips were all crispy and hard, fish was skinny and a bit hard.

Amazing chippy! Always great service from the chaps that work here, all food is cooked to order with the exception of some of the popular menu like sausages which are ready to go. Everything is cooked to perfection, chips are crispy and golden and the pricing is okay.

Over over rated. No ways would I give this above a 2* no ways: I dont know how people can give this place 4+* surely they ain't have a good fish and chips. Dont get me wrong the staff was very friendly and the shop was clean. But the fish N chips for me was a flop. The portion size was huge but the taste was not there for me. I'm sorry but there was no taste at all.

Ordered a couple of portions of chips for takeaway and had to wait half an hour! Wasn't that busy so it shouldn't have taken so long. To add insult to injury, the young guy serving put his hand on the inside of the polystyrene tray to pick it up before filling it with chips. Had to throw the chips that were touching the tray away when I got home. Do not think this is a good thing to be doing anytime, especially not now with Covid-19 running rife! Sad because the chips we did have, were nice.

Tried the haddock and it was delicious! Fresh, good size fillet with really crispy batter and the chips were really good, too. I also ordered some nuggets for my daughter and she approved of them, as well. The shop doesn't limit itself to haddock, only. Apart from the cod, scampi etc... They offer chicken, ribs and various sausages. There is also a choice of butties and kids menu, too. The staff were quite busy at the time, yet I was acknowledged and served quickly. One thing that you don't see often these days is the relationship between patrons and staff. This was my first visit here, but for the 10 minutes I spent in, I realised that many of the other visitors were regulars and you could hear them cracking a joke or two with the guys and gals behind the counter. Overall, I think I've found another gem in Chingford and I'll definitely be returning soon.
