Felt we had to give it a try with it Bering a favourite of Peter Crouch and close to our hotel, found it quite disappointing

This time - we've been here several times - we were disappointed. The Tikka Massala sauce was okay, the lamb in it was clearly overcooked. And the head waiter was unfriendly. There are better places to go.

We get a takeaway occasionally. Last time it wasn't great and I thought it was a one off but this time was the same. The keema peas was mainly peas with a lot less meat plus it looked and tasted completely different to what we have come to expect so I guess the chef may have changed. The Kashmiri chicken was ok but lots of sauce and not much meat. Overall the food was ok but it has definitely gone downhill.

Food was just OK . But sadly there's no competition in Pitshanger as far as curry restaurants are concerned. It wasn't the best experience from a customer service point of view either. The 'Front of House' really needs to smile and make you fell welcome. He just seemed interested in the money. Sadly the evening was ruined by being placed down the stairs with another few couples who , like us , had to face a barrage of foul mouthed men who seemed to treat the place as a drinking establishment . It's an E2 bus to Northfields Avenue for us in future where there are quite a few friendly proper Indian restaurants.

The best Indian in tooting. Traditional setting. Amazing tasty food (big portions for a great price). Lovely staff & BYOB. This Indian is of the beat and track of tooting high street and has been there for 30 years and counting! Perfect if you want a imitate date night or fun with friends & family.

We had a takeaway of keema peas bhuna, Kashmiri chicken, rice and a peshwari naan. The keema peas portion was smaller than we are used to and it was a little bit bland. Also in the chicken dish there was less meat and plenty of banana. It wasn't quite as nice as we have come to expect.

Have been coming here or having take-aways (this review is for a delivery) for years and I'm afraid the standard is too inconsistent. Sometimes it's good, other times really poor, as my meal was at the weekend. Simply not properly cooked and poorly packaged so everything leaked.

Absolute rip off, waiting for takeaway got a beer and soft drink 10 pounds. 5.50 for beer 4.50 for J2O. Beware! And the TA food was mediocre, nice nan but tandoori chicken dry and king prawn buhna was a joke, maybe 1 prawn cut into 10 pieces if lucky! Avoid, owner is an idiot! Poor staff look downtrodden. We had the Samrat special chicken (very good), and the chicken tikka masala (even better). The rice and poppadoms and associated dips were delicious, the naan was possibly slightly overly crispy. Otherwise, very attentive service and reasonable prices. I can’t wait to go again

We haven't eaten in for a while though we have had occasional take aways. Three of us came in and had poppadoms followed by various currys, rice and naan breads. The naans were s little burnt but aside from that the food was very nice. The service wasn't great though, they didn't seem that happy to see us as we didn't have a booking plus they just are not very friendly plus our waiter made a couple of errors as he didn't seem to understand English well

Recently ordered a simple takeaway - Curt telephone manner and when I collected it the member of staff I dealt with was surly and unfriendly. Won’t be bothering to go there again. The prawn puree was lacking in much taste and the prawns were tough. The rest of the meal was fairly nondescript.

One of the many good things we have found in recently moving to Pitshanger is being within walking distance of Samrat. We had heard that it had a good reputation but, having now been twice, can safely say it serves the best Indian food in Ealing (which is saying something as Zayka’s is excellent too). Really subtle flavours and absolutely delicious.

We placed our order an£ after an hour we asked where our food was( no one bothered to come and explain the delay) they apologise for the delay as they were very busy, ( every table had been booked, so they should have known what staffing they needed) the food arrived after 1.5 hours it was very oily and not very flavourful . The samosas and the onion bagies were very good , but that was all . I would not visit here again

I came here to eat in with friends having booked a table a week ago. The first thing that struck me is that they did not appear to have reserved a table at all but luckily there was space at the rear. In most Indian restaurants the waiter would pull the table out and help you sit down - but not here. When asked for drinks I requested a lassi but the waiter said he was new and did not know if they did them - but he didn't go and ask. We waited rather a long time to order food but the food came quite quickly and was excellent. I have generally found the service a bit lacking here which is a shame as the food is lovely.

Estaba realmente decepcionado.

Visited Friday evening and was greeted and seated quickly and efficiently. Popadoms and drinks served promptly and order taken after a short delay. After approx 45 minutes of waiting for mains I asked several times how much longer we would be waiting. Eventually I was told 2 to 3 minutes and it was served after about 5 minutes. At that time there was no apology for poor service. There was no problem with the food - in fact it was very good. When we were preparing to leave a member of staff did apologise for the delay in getting food to table. The restaurant was busy with seated customers and customers collecting take-away meals. The priority did seem be to service take-away customers although we did note one couple who appeared to have waited about an hour for food.If you visit Samrat try to avoid the table to the left of the bar as you will have a constant stream of staff making there way to the bar and a large group of customers gathered around the bar waiting for take-always.

We ate here on a Friday evening. The service was extremely slow for everyone, food took more than an hour to arrive, and many people were complaining. They were quick to bring us new drinks though. The food itself was nice but there wasn't much sauce with it, which was a shame as I like to dip the naan bread into curry sauce. The price was quite expensive, especially as they stick on a 10% service charge automatically to the bill. I thought this was quite cheeky, especially as the service was so slow! Pitshanger Lane has everything which is good if you like convenience but bad if you like choice. If you can't be bothered to head into Ealing or Greenford for a curry, you have to go to Samrat. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Despite having an 8 o clock reservation we weren't seated until 8.15. I didn't mind this but the restaurant isn't big consequently we were in the way of other diners and the solid stream of people picking up takeaways. When we got our table we ordered and the food took an hour to come, fortunately it was delicious. The chicken balti was flavourful and the lamb special consisted of 4 huge chops. Loved the Saag aloo as well. The breads were a tad doughy but still tasty. Go for the food but be mindful that you might be kept waiting!

The food is always good in here but we always seem to have an 'issue' with the management. The last time we ate her (1 week ago) there was a number of diners in - This was 6.15pm on a Friday evening - but hardly what you would call busy. We had to be elsewhere for 7.40pm and ordered immediately. By 7.10pm we were chasing the order (but needless to say they were very attentive at topping up the drinks) - We even paid ahead of the food arriving so that we could eat and leave....Now.. there were 8 very close friends who paid for this meal - 6 with cash 2 on a card - The money was handed over with the cards and taken away. When the manager came back to take the final balance on the card, the cash was suddenly £15 short! We disputed this but the manager was having none of it and brought the cash back from behind the bar!!!!! We reluctantly threw in another £10 but apparently this was not good enough. Having spent £220 in the space of 90 mins the manager was not prepared to forego the £5....Never again will we eat here. Granted, the food is lovely but the lack of people skills, the slow speed of service but speed of topping up the drinks and getting the bill to you makes you realise that there are many better places to eat - especially in Pitshanger Lane where there are lots of eateries

I hadn't eaten here for a few years, but it seems that the decent quality I first encountered has not diminished. A fairly standard menu for Indian cuisine, but the chef seems to know his stuff. Lovely sauces, and not too much ghee, good heat in the vindaloo, and a reasonable wine list. The Dahl Tarka (lentils) was a tad bland, and I am always a bit wary of the quality of meat and prawns underneath that heavy spicing in Indian food. But overall I found theirs to be tender and tasty. I didn't realise they were related to my regular local, the Jubraj, but they stand up well by comparison. Proprietor Islam looked after us very well, and if I am in the area again I will for sure return.

Actually we had a similar celebration about 2 years ago and we were very pleased to find that both the food and the service remain of a high standard. The menu includes a fairly large range of dishes with something for everyone - including vegetarians and people who do not want a very spicy curry.Since we were in celebration mode it did not bother us to wait quite a while between our starters and the arrival of our main dishes. The restaurant was not busy so I was beginning to wonder why, on a Friday night? However, all of us chose different dishes and all of us were very peased with our choices. I chose a cooked cheese in tomato sauce, feeling like I wanted a real change. The sauce was truly rich in tomato and the cheese delicate. The plus side of this review is that this restaurant serves probably the best Indian food in Ealing and the waiters are extremely polite; the decor and table settings are fine and the food portions are good. However, a number of issues spoil the dining occasion. We were "welcomed" by the owner who sneered at us and looked as though he was going to say "why don't you guys find somewhere else to dine". Perhaps he always expects trouble from 4 middle aged guys who are merely out for a good meal. The first course arrived on time but after an extraordinarily long time, the mains appeared; this was only after questioning the waiting staff several times as to whether the kitchen was up to the task. When we heard other tables also complaining we realised why - the restaurant appeared to favour its takeaway customers. We were constantly being persuaded to buy more wine; was this to cover up the delays in the kitchen or were the delays actually engineered so that we would drink more?At the end of the meal the bill arrived (promptly, of course!) and we had the dubious pleasure of the owner hovering over us while we counted our the cash - the only time he gave us his attention after that wonderful welcome. We handed over the due amount and duly left, by which time the owner was handling what appeared to be another complaint from another customer.Would we go again? Not under the current management.

It’s amazing and lovely experience today with this Branch and the combo Breakfast served here was so delicious with authentic taste. Our family cherished after a long time delightfully and reminded our old memories and the fantastic aroma of Chennai. All the credit goes to the head of Southall branch operations. All the staff well groomed, kind and helpful. Keep rocking Southall. God bless.

If its just about the food, this place deserves 5 Stars. Each and everything we ordered right from daal, paneer, manchurian was super delicious. Service was great too, extremely humble people. price is decent too. Interiors might not be the best but food is the best here. Highly recommended.

Food was good, waiters attentive but starters took a long time but after that everything was OK. Only gripe I have is that one of the waiters was wearing a baseball cap whilst serving food. Not very professional !
