Sam 'n' Ben's in Swansea

We are so lucky to have sam and Ben's in the village . Lovely food and service

I ordered chicken with spinach and mash. My wife ordered ribs and chips. We waited an hour for the meal which was not the end of the world. The time was 6pm and the restaurant was not particularly busy. When the food arrived I found the chicken difficult to cut and the breast was chewy (overcooked). I complained. To my amazement the manager brought a steak knife to cut the chicken. Naturally I was not happy and sent the meal back additionally the spinach on top of the mashed potatoe was probably not drained and made the mash watery. I was asked if I wanted a replacement not wanting to wait another hour I declined. We shared my partners meal which was good. At the end when I was presented my bill I was shocked that my rejected meal was charged in full. I complained and was told it was policy to charge and the manager offered a 10% discount only on my meal. I was not amused but paid the bill not to cause a scene. The manager then declared that I would probably not want to return. I left disappointed by the food I was served and the attitude of the manager.

Absolutely gorgeous food tonight. Did feel as though we had outstayed our welcome at 9pm. If we come again I think obviously 6.30pm on a Sunday evening was too late which was a shame for us.

Had a burger there the other evening there was an unidentifiable flavour and an awful slimy texture I was told by the staff that they do not refund even if the meal is barely touched

First visit to Sam n Ben's tonight. Came to watch the awesome White Leather play. Hannah from the restaurant made a special effort to greet us and we really appreciated her remembering why we were there and giving us such a good view of the stage. Although we only came.for the band we will be back for the food. Juicy pork belly, stacked burger so high it felt like it should come with a Mission Impossibly theme tune....all with 'proper" chips. Also tried the cocktails. Yum! Well done to all and thank you for a great evening.

Food quality 10/10 Staff 10/10 Service 10/10 Fabulous place to eat great home cooked food ,prebooked a table to be sure to get in , starters were amazing ,my steak was cooked to perfection and my partner had braised beef which also was cooked till it fell apart ,few drinks also and was very reasonably priced for our choice of food .would definitely recommend anyone to try this place . Well done Sam'N'Bens

First time having Christmas day dinner out with very high expectations but... The food was exceptional really very nice although waiting 40 minutes between a starter and main was disappointing to say the least. Especially when you're rather very hungry. Now service I can't complain at all very lovely and helpful. You know when you set your sights on Christmas and don't get it well this was the place. On arrival our table was a table with the only noticeable Christmas touch was our red napkin. That's it. No table cloths, or crackers (have to bring your own), no lights twinkling away, nor Christmas music on. All very dull really. Has quite literally put me off eating out on Christmas day again. Now as I mentioned the food was very nice and couldn't fault the meals although having more than two sprouts on your plate, and maybe some Christmas red cabbage could've added that sense of spirit to the occasion. Some parsnips a little harder than needed but food was good. No real complaints there. All round was pleasant enough, just missed that magic.

After eventually finding a place to park as everywhere around is double yellow lines with only a small number of parking spaces at the front We had to sit in the bar as restaurant was closed but wasn’t told this on booking, apparently restaurant is closed on a Wednesday even on the run up to Christmas All ordered different meals, mine was gammon with egg and pineapple with chips. Arrived without the pineapple and no greens. Gammon could have done with a bit more cooking My friend ordered bbq chicken and chips, again arrived no greens. Chicken was a bit tasteless and he left most of it on the plate, which is not like him His wife ordered salmon with thyme and lemon, fish was ok but the broccoli with it was cold. Waitress was told but nothing happened My wife had salmon with garlic which she said was ok Only the ladies had dessert at £6:85 each but had to pay £1:50 each for one scoop of ice cream After paying our bill we saw that the restaurant. which was closed for eating was now open for drinkers. Sorry but I don’t think we will be going back again

We went there for Sunday lunch it looked and was loverly and clean when we orderd our food it took about half an hour to come that’s fair enough when it’s going to be fresh and not “STEWED “ so the 3 of us opted for the lamb dinners we had plenty of meat the ROAST POTATOES I think were frozen the carrots the Cabbage was RAW just couldn’t chew it I did say to the lady it wasn’t cooked and she just said Ohh!! the mash peas were loverly the Broccoli was a touch off RAWNESS and slightly under cooked I was looking foreword to going there but it’s a NO NO FOR US it wasn’t cheap either at £13.95 for Lamb I tend to judge the food a bit harshly but I think not this time,I must say the New In in Clydach is still the BEST AROUND and it’s only my opinion but I don’t think the Gravy was HOMEMADE either ( but that just my opinion)

Lovely place , GREAT FOOD , I had the mixed grill and it was all fantastic but couldn't finish it as there was so much , thevwife had the salmon and apparently that was perfect also . A must visit

The food and service were excellent. It did take an awful long time for our food to come but staff were very apologetic and took our first round of drinks off the price. Food was well worth waiting for though.

Visited in a large group on a weeknight recently, atmosphere was nice and the service was great. The food did take a little bit of time to come out (we were a large group however so this can be expected), however when it did it was fantastic. Everyone had something different from the menu and it was all great! No one had any complaints at all. Definitely recommend.

We are five ladies who came today for the first time, food was amazing plentiful and piping hot, staff were very friendly and attentive. Added extra bonus of live music later in the afternoon.

Based on other reviews we must have caught them on a bad night. We ordered three meals, Burger and chips, fish and chips and "Bangers and mash". The bacon on the burger was too hard. My wife's fish and chips was okay, however the mushy peas poured out of the container like soup. The biggest disappointment was the "Bangers and mash", which is normally one of my favourite pub meals. It came in a sort of bowl, the mashed potatoes were watery as was the gravy the sausages were adequate, but nothing special. All this was topped with three battered onion rings that had very little onion and a large handful of watercress!!! I felt that this dish had been put together by someone who'd never actually seen "Bangers and Mash"

Staff not friendly,don't know how to make cocktails. When ordered a Turkish delight gin , came with a different flavour gin when asked about this they said had run out as where they could have said this when ordered, & when questioned about it why not told as there could have been an ingredient in the one brought ,could be dangerous their reply was or well and walked off .

Always a pleasure to visit - great music, tasty food, good selection of drinks and really friendly staff. A great place for meeting friends, taking the family for a meal and just enjoying a night out.

Booked a short notice table for 9...unknown area to us..was getting married following day,, so close to the venue...beautiful food..everyone enjoyed.. staff were so helpful when my son was having a meltdown..showing us the garden..and remaining calm whilst he was having a tantrum on the floor..usually I'd just straight away leave some where..because I'm worried about other people..we managed to have a beautiful meal without further tantrums..thank you all. Deffo travel up again for food.

Really great service and friendly staff with lovely food. I'm a very picky eater and asked for several alterations with my food order, no bun with the burger for example. There was absolutely no problem with the substitutions I requested and the food was really delicious. The portions were great too and sadly I didn't have enough room for dessert. Highly recommended, I shall definitely return.

A comfortable establishment with friendly attentive staff. We had the traditional Sunday Roast which was exceptionally good and served hot. We finished off with the desert of the day which again was very good indeed. A very nice house wine. We have had the delivered Roast dinner on a Sunday and again what can be said but perfection.

Party of 8 and staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Food was lovely but big portions yet reasonably priced. Band playing was great and atmosphere joyful.

Visited last night 5th March.....absolutely beautiful meal and service.....their peppercorn sauce and chips were just gorgeous.......Pina Coladas weren't, bad either...nor the house wine. Thoroughly enjoyed our couple of hours there....very relaxed and comfortable.......we will be back.

Food ok but overpriced. Hospitality could be better. Didn't offer coffee or desserts, even though on the menu. All they did is ask if we wanted the bill. Wouldn't rush back.

Just had my first Sunday lauch at Sam 'n' Ben's and would most def say this is the best Sunday lunch i have eaten out for a long time, i have eaten many Sunday lunches in many Resturants but this is the best by fsr..

Have been here 4 or 5 times in the last year and every time the food was stupendous and the staff lovely. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced. Interior decor beautiful.

I received the best 4 dinners I could have wished for. The delivery man was so fast I was unable to tip him . The meals were the highlight of our Xmas day and there was enough food for Boxing day meal too !!! Well done and we will be booking a meal from you again in the very near future

What an amazing place, the food is outstanding and the staff couldn't do enough for you. My partner had nacho's to start, gorgeous but huge portion, I had brie wedges. Our mains were huge, my partner had the biggest burger ever, I had the 16oz ribeye which was cooked perfectly, the best blue cheese sauce and the chips.....they are to die for! Will definitely be back, but will give the starters a miss as meals are large.

Brilliant food. Staff are friendly and helpful however the parking is virtually non existent but dont let this put you off. Even while social distancing and following pandemic safety protocols the meal was enjoyable and the environment did not suffer. We would highly recommend and our date night proved to be a huge success.

Just finished off my Sunday Lunch for the 3rd time. I must say this one was outstanding 👌 Fresh veg, beautiful gravy and dessert 🍨 beautiful. Can't wait to visit in person A

This place is literally around the corner from where i live and i've never been there. I still havent because of Covid but had a takeaway. Homemade Steak and Ale pie, mash , gravy delivered for £8. I have never seen a pie so crammed with succulent meat. Restaurants can and do get away with using cheapo quality meat in pies, not the case here, absolutely delicious and delivered on time too

Sunday lunch delivery during lockdown. Well what can I say. It’s faultless and delivered to your door hot. Choice of meats. Mashed & roast potatoes. Swede carrots broccoli cabbage parsnips Yorkie and stuffing with a separate container of very tasty gravy. & a pudding 👍🏼 Only lived here a short time but will definitely patronise this establishment when things get back to normality. Thank you all at Sam n Bens for your hard work during these difficult times.

Hi all just had a meal delivered from Sam n Bens , Clydach. Cheese Burgers fries and a side of giant onion rings. Arrived on time and it was really good, cracking brown home made chips, good quality burger and fresh. Thanks guys we will be ordering again. Support these local businesses they need us and guess what we need them.

You cant hate the food here. Potions are good food is cooked lovely. Never had issues having a meal here.

Went for Family Birthday. Really good organisation as there were over 20 of us. All starters came out together and were lovely. From prawn cocktail, mussels, salt & chilli chicken, garlic mushrooms. All very good. Same with main all served within 5 mins. Ribeye steak, smothered chicken, fire cracker salmon, mixed grill. Well presented and very nice.

An excellent afternoon of great tasty food ( Sunday lunch ) followed by live music. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

Food is fantastic and Ive had meals from the west coast of America to the Eastern Mediterranean. Selection is varied and catered for most pallets. Yes as some reviewers have said on here it is and was rowdy but it is 1st and foremost a pub and not pretending to be anything else (business have to make a living, lots of good restaurants have closed due to lack of trade). We had a selection of the burgers and was very pleased. The onion rings are like nothing Ive seen or eaten before. Huge and tasty, the onion not to strong and the batter not oily or overcooked. Real fresh chips as well. Value it spot on. If you want silence go to church, if you want a great meal go here. Will definitely be back

Went with family members on a Sunday 4 of them are of the menu and 2 of us opted for the Sunday lunch We requested the lamb but told it had ran out ok that can happen we were then offered Turkey beef or pork we opted for the Turkey, was then told the Turkey had all gone. We had the beef when it came the roast parsnip was rock hard and they had run out of Yorkshire pudding the gravy tasted like it was gravy granules and hot water. The beef was really tough I took it home for the dog. It was an awful meal . However the band no salad were brilliant and made up for our disapointing sunday lunch .

Booked a table here in the restaurant but found the place was a rowdy pub. This is fine as long as you charge rowdy pub prices but this place charges like it was a nice restaurant. If I'm paying these prices I expect somewhere for a quiet meal not to be drowned out by drunken, loud, idiots. All in all, a bad experience not to be repeated. The food was fine but this place just needs to decide what it wants to be. If the answer is "a restaurant which charges restaurant prices" then they need to keep the rowdies in a separate bar area away from diners. If the answer is "A rowdy pub", that's fine but stop pretending to be a restaurant, forget about nice food (and prices) and just do burger and chips.

Lovely welcome, great atmosphere, didnt have food this time, however when we have it was faultless.

What a find, visited this evening with friends and it's fantastic. Food portions are huge and the coffee is massive. Food is spot on and service is excellent. If you're in the area this place is a must. well done!!

Great meal and atmosphere, lovely staff , always helpful , on Sunday you can have Sunday lunch or order from the grill menu , Friday night is music night , come and give it a try , you won't be disappointed .

Considering we were there for two special birthday occasions and had already given our food order prior to our arrival you would have thought steps would have been taken to ensure our food would have been given at a reasonable time. The tables were not served as people arrived and in the end we waited for our starter for 1 and half hours and then dragged out for the main course it was a complete disaster. With food and drink the total cost came close to £350 and not even an apology or kept informed on the situation. Such a shame maybe we will have a reply here and an explanation as to what went wrong.

I am never one to complain however I feel that last night was a complete disappointment and I wouldn’t want another family to waste their time or money if they plan on going as a big group.

Nice enough but the drinks are too expensive.
