Fantastic little Italian restaurant just outside the Corn Exchange. Haven't been for a couple of years but the food was just as good as ever. Mixed platter for starter and a variety of pizzas and pastas kept everyone happy. Great food, good value for money and Luigi the waiter looked after us very well

Had an amazing waiter called Luigi who made the experience amazing, as he served us with a smile and made us all laugh with some great jokes couldn’t ask for a better waiter and experience and food was also amazing, it made me feel as if I was in Italy #weloveluigi #luigiisdabest

My partner recently started working in Manchester and it’s not somewhere we’d normally go. Till Salvi’s l. What started out as him bringing home meats and a cheeky cannoli has turned into a monthly visit once we realised they also did food. We find ourselves craving their pizza and will hop on the train the travel 67 minutes just for it. It is also the best tiramisu I’ve ever eaten! The staff and wonderful, cheery and very helpful. The fact you can see the food being made and see each chef taking immense pride in each dish is a joy to see. The semi low lighting and music creates an intimate atmosphere. We really do love this place. Again thank you to the Staff and Chefs for this little slice of heaven in a busy city centre! 😁❤️

I have been there loads of times and I was always happy with the food and the spectacular service, especially from Lorenzo and Ezio. They make you feel at home every time! Also whenever I have food there I always love it, and I can tell it's an authentic neapolitan cuisine.

Really disappointed by our visit here on Sunday. I had had this place recommended by a family member and so I was really looking forward to it. Sadly the food is overpriced for standard Italian food and quite small portions for what you are paying. Between us for two starters, one pasta main, two coffees and half a lager we paid £55. I was a little shocked that the burrata starter with tomatoes is actually with one lone tomato, sliced into quarters. Perhaps they were running out. I don’t like plates filled with rocket to try and make it look like there is more on the plate than there is. The food we had tasted good but not special for the cost. It was overly warm in there which was uncomfortable and the toilets were unloved and not well cleaned, they need a good clean in the corners and the toilet roll holders refilling properly not just odd loo rolls dotted about. It’s a shame as I had high hopes, but I won’t be able to recommend this to others and won’t visit again. I assume they may be struggling to make ends meet and so are scrimping on the food and hiking up the prices. A very sad 3.5 out of 5

Disappointing. I was so looking forward to real italian well cooked food but it just didn't meet expectations. As someone who comes from Southern italian roots I know I could have done better. The ingredients tasted fresh and good quality but the seasoning and intensity of flavour were missing. £65 for 2 plates of bland pasta, a bit of bread and undressed salad. On a good note the house red was very good and service okay.

I’ve been here twice in the last week. Got sat a table outside both times and then left for over 15 minutes both times. I would u destined if they were busy but they only had a couple of tables in. One day I will get to try the famous Salvis.

To start, I have been salvis many times before having the same food and came today as a treat as we really loved it on our previous visits however we have left very disappointed. Today's food was quite something else, we both had the octopus and nduja pasta and i honestly could've made better myself with ingredients from aldi as the quality was shocking. The octopus although albeit usually a little chewy was dry and tasteless. I've had this dish every time I've been before and it was nothing alike what I have usually had. If you had gave me this and asked me where it was from I wouldn't have even said it was from the same resturant. For £17.50 hardly had any pasta, and the pasta used is not what was the same in the past, usually it is large tubes (old picture no 3 attached.) The sauce tasted like tinned tomatoes i wouldn't even say there was salt or pepper on it, there was no nduja present at all or any taste for that matter. The tomatoes that I could see in it weren't cooked. I must say the starter was fine taste wise however for £30 was a rip off. I looked at others pictures of this and can see bread included but we had nothing of the sort. The service again was not great, although the staff were polite when taking our order. We had water glasses on the table with no water offered, with the starter no side plates were brought and no parmasan offered with the mains. I wouldn't recommend, not sure how they stay open and charge the prices they do as it was extremely poor. I get the impression they are trying to cut corners and costs whilst charging the same. I am so gutted as we were looking forward to this for weeks!

Tonight was absolutely fabulous! I’ve known Lorenzo for a long time, but seeing him in action as a chef was a delightful surprise. The freshness of the seafood was exceptional, and it truly felt like a taste of home in Italy. Every dish was a testament to his skill and passion, making the entire experience unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy authentic, top-quality Italian cuisine!

If you like Buffalo Mozzarella this is your destination. I love this restaurant and the fact it has a shop too!

We had a lovely meal in Salvi's this evening. It was lovely to walk downstairs into a very cosy restaurant space where the food was prepared fresh in their own giant wood fired oven. My wife was glad she opted to share the Focacia starter as it was enormous!! She throughly enjoyed her Puttanesca and I was delighted with my Pancetta and Pistachio Pesto Pasta. Perhaps the only thing better than the food was the service. Well done to all on a wet Wednesday evening. I can only say I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Went to purchase mortadella and other meats from the deli. The two Italian men working there spent 2 minutes mocking me in Italian. I managed to pick up most of it as speak reasonable Italian. Last time I go there as it’s has been consistently rude / arrogant staff that clearly don’t like non-Italians. Looking at the reviews this is a common theme. If you are thinking of using the deli, I’d order online with a reputable importer. Don’t give these xenophobic company your hard earned cash

Avoid! It’s like a sauna, needs much better (if any) air conditioning which put me right off my food. To make that worse, no ice was given with tepid bottled water. Wrong drinks given twice. Bad customer service. Staff surly when bespoke request. ‘No we can’t do that.’ No apology given. I thought they were joking at first. It annoyed me which also put me off my food. Won’t be going back.

Recently refurbished but Salvi’s was deserted. My partner and I had a pizza which was very average. My son had carbonara which he said was very good. Disappointed.

Pre booked for 40% discount offer. Offer was not honoured claiming it had to be booked at least the previous day. The Carbonara was horribly over peppered, to the point of actually spicy, obliterating and other flavour. Horribly overpriced at that.

The food is wonderful with excellent service in a cosy setting. A lovely place to enjoy with friends. We’ve been 3 times and look forward to returning.

This is one of my favourite places for Italian. The food is always very tasty and it has a really nice atmosphere for a city centre. We asked if they had garlic bread as it wasn't on the menu and they were happy to accommodate. The gnocchi is so tasty for a simple dish. Service is great and all the staff say hello and thank you when leaving.

Good friendly service from all three staff who dealt with us; nice place, but disappointed in the food. Had the Stagioni and Vesuvio pizzas between four and antipasti starters which were brought with the mains. Not good. Would try again, but not a pizza next time. I've had so much better from my local takeaway at half the price. Be aware, gratuity @10% added automatically to the bill. This is irritating. It's not the US.

What an absolute gem in the centre of town. The pizzas and pasta are fantastic, cooked to perfection. Old school Italian restaurant vibes add to the atmosphere.

An Italian friend brought us here for a great supper. There were other Italian families coming in too so that tells you this place serves authentic food and drinks I had pasta puttanesca . It was delicious. My wife had pasta with a pancetta and pistachio sauce. - would like the pancetta / guanciale cooked more so its golden brown delicious , The service and ambience was great.They have a Deli also which has LOTS of imported pasta types I have never seen before. Went for Birthday lunch on Monday with my sister, waiters were polite and attentive, atmosphere/ambience was spot on. Decor is well suited and makes you feel like you're in Italy. Not had food this good since visiting Rome last year. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu 10/10.

Amazing food and service! Nicola was on top and always prompt and attempt to any details.. we had a delicious Linguine with seafood.. the taste of the seafood was 100%. I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at this Italian restaurant, thanks to Salvatore! He is hands down the best I've ever had. Quite disappointed, last came to Salvis about 3 years ago pre COVID, was very excited to come again as I thoroughly enjoyed it last time. Ordered a burrata for starter (my favourite dish and what I was looking forward to most) and when it arrived it we cut into it and it didn't seem to have any cream in it, it was just like a standard mozzarella. Spoke to the waiter who was quite rude and told me it was a burrata despite me pointing out it wasn't like any I'd has before. Was then told that they didn't have any Italian ones left but that it was still a burrata. The table next to us who were Italian said the same when theirs arrived but we're greeted with the same response. Very disappointed as it was completely different from any I had in Italy, Rudys or even the m&s food down the street and it cost much more than all of those. Despite this the pasta we had for the main was excellent. We just found the service ruined the meal overall.

Usually have a good time here, but this time around was quite depressing. Slow service, poor atmosphere, bland food. Was my parent’s anniversary - had made a note on the booking too, but received no acknowledgment. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

The food was good as always, but the prices on the menu are old, so when you ask for the bill, it's much higher than you'd expect. When I complained about this, they said the menu is old and not updated with the new prices, they told me there is nothing they can do if the owner doesn't update the menu. It's not fair at all!

Nice enough but pretty standard restaurant. It's independently owned, but it had the same atmosphere as a chain, which felt disappointing. Extremely overpriced. Service was ok, but bought the mains out before the starter, not sure what happened there... felt let down on this place unfortunately.

I feel liked I been robbed paying for food here. Bad service, bad food and bad atmosphere. Food arrived cold and it flavourless, my sister and mum had the seafood pasta and most of their mussels and clams were close and the ones that were open were cold. My pizza had no flavour plus we had to ask for the pepper and parmesan cheese to put on the pizza. And don’t bother with the overpriced starters. I put on the booking it was my sisters birthday and she received no acknowledgment. Dead atmosphere in the downstairs bit of the restaurant, you can get better service in the ikea restaurant and that is saying something. Avoid this chain restaurant, overpriced and over hyped. Un'accoglienza 100% italiana! Nicola é stato gentilissimo, abbiamo chiacchierato tanto e ci ha consigliato piatti squisiti. Due piatti di pasta con porzioni che in Italia non si trovano più (davvero abbondanti) e buonissime. Qualità molto alta della materia prima. Gran parte dello staff é italiano! Molto molto contenta. Da provare per chi passa da Manchester.

The restaurant has very tasty food, and the thing that I liked the most is that the orders are hot

We were looking forward to visiting this restaurant for a while. Place was fine, restaurant located downstairs. Starters were fine and had no issues. We ordered a cheese ravioli and a margherita pizza. Simple dishes, you'd think couldn't go wrong even if you tried. The ravioli was extremely salty and we couldn't finish the dish. When getting through half of the pizza, I found a piece of hard plastic which was worrying. We raised this with the waitress who said she'll let the kitchen know. You'd expect them to inform the manager and let them know that the table wasn't happy and that they found something non food related (huge issues if I'd have swallowed it). But it seems the service is definitely not up to standards. We asked for the bill and when brought over, we were surprised to see the initial mains were still on the menu. We raised a complaint and eventually the manager came and in all fairness he was professional. He wasn't even aware of what had happened which shows a severe lack of communication amongst staff. He acknowledged the issue and removed one of the mains and the service charge. Ofcourse we won't be returning here, but we hope that standards Increase ten-fold for future customers. Not a fan of leaving negative reviews, but if they don't get told, they'll never improve.

Outside of Italy, best Italian food I've ever had. What else can you say?

This gem is hidden in plain sight! You go down a flight of stairs and it is like going through a portal to Italy. There is the family business vibe; the open kitchen with the oven just sitting there perfecting the pizzas and calzonis; the casual Italian you hear only among insiders; and then comes the food. It hits you with all the flavor: from the just-so-right ripened tomato; the all-you-can-wish-for garlic; and the bless-that-cow cheese. Everything was superb. What a great Italian restaurant!

me and my boyfriend come here every couple of days for usually just a coke and snack and have had an amazing experience every time. the guy that serves us every time goes above and beyond every time we come (he even dried our seats with a paper towel outside because it had just rained) couldn’t recommend enough - this is now officially our local 😊 it’s also an amazing place for people watching/ just relaxing after a stressful day. 5 stars from us 😄

One of the most authentic Italian food in Manchester. The portion was big and the food was fresh and tasty. We had an amazing service thanks to Rafaella, she was very welcoming, kind and explained the menu very well. Will definitely visit again!

I went in for the deli. Picked up some San Marzano pomodori, cannoli, quality pasta and mortadella. The choice is good, service was excellent and I will definitely go back (mortadella was amazing!)

We would give this place 6 stars if we could. Came in last month and my Italian boyfriend was very impressed 😍 portion sizes are so good and the food is to die for - get the pasta with pistachio pesto and thank us later. Service was top notch too, lovely staff! We’ll be back! 🥰

Amazing food and service. The restaurant is located underneath a food shop selling only Italian produce. Everything is home cooked and feels very Italian and authentic

Extremely snappy staff. Shouting at us that a certain wine wasn't by the glass despite it being on the menu. Ordering our starters/mains and 20 minutes later having to reorder them because the server hadn't put order through and lost the pad he'd written it on. Brought us an incorrect starter and asked why we wouldn't just eat the one that was incorrect after saying they'd just ran out of the correct one. No check backs on food or drinks (ergo no chance to tell them one of the mains was so peppered it was inedible). Asked for water 3 seperate times and it never arrived. Had to ask for the bill twice and card machine twice (the card machine never arrived either and eventually had to just leave cash and go). took over 90 minutes just to get mains. 2 out of 3 mains were nice but one was 90% left on the plate and a server didn't even think to ask what issue was. Service was just so completely horrific. Servers need trained in common courtesy as well as common hospitality protocol like putting orders through when customers have ordered, bringing water, learning the menu and drinks list as well as doing a check back. I realise places get busy and people get fed up but your prices reflect you think its a high standard restaraunt so act like it.

Been here before but it didn’t live up to same standard. Pasta wasn’t seasoned well. Lacked salt & overall flavour. Ordered pistachio cake but they only had lemon so I ordered that but then they drizzled pistachio sauce over it? They didn’t have mint tea which was on their menu either. My americano was tiny for £3.50 I was shocked & not amazing. Friend ordered forest fruits panacotta & was instead given pistachio panacotta served in a glass?? Very weird. Waitress was nice but they took ages clearing table, bringing bill over & then taking the bill. I don’t think I’ll come back

C’è molto da scrivere di questo posto ma riassumendo… La location non è proprio delle migliori, quando entri sembra una botteghina poco invitante e poi giù c’è il ristorante ma non speciale Passiamo al menu.. Dei piatti italiani così buoni all estero credo di non averli mai mangiati. OTTIMI e davvero abbondanti (parola che in Inghilterra non conoscono) Preso una carbonara a livelli di quella di Roma (e sono serio), e pasta con pistacchio e pancetta molto buona Anche altri piatti alla vista erano davvero ottimi. Forse solo la pizza pecca un po’ Camerieri e titolare italiani, carini e gentili. Una nota leggermente (ma solo leggermente) negativa è il prezzo Per la qualità dei piatti davvero tanta roba però anche per gli standard di Manchester erano un po’ alti 3£ per un caffè davvero una follia Qui paghi il fatto che mangi ITALIANO 🇮🇹 Però tutto sommato un pranzo OTTIMO e davvero consigliato

The first pizza in the UK i have had and can genuinely say I felt like I was back in Italy! Amazing little hidden Gem in Manchester. Stupefacente !

Booked a table here online which was easy to do. We did turn up about 10 minutes early to find the restaurant very busy, we waited for our table and given a glass of Prosecco which was a nice touch. Once at the table, had to wait around 20 minutes to order, mains were served before our drinks. Drinks not served until half way through the meal. We both had carbonara which was a very big portion size, however found it to be over seasoned with too much pepper which just was overpowering. May be better to add less seasoning and guests can add extra seasoning to their desired taste. 10% service charge also added to the bill even though there was only two of us eating. We were given the bill but after waiting for a while for card machine, we actually had to go to the bar to pay. We asked for the service charge to be removed as we did not feel we experienced good service. Cocktails expensive £9.50.

Shocking service, Walked out due to it, So went in no one came to sit us down, 5 later someone came to sit us down, fired the menus at us not Karen’s dinner at all here, Another 10 min past no drink or food order and people getting drinks ahead of us who came after Walked out as a Italian this is worse then your classic Italian food service !!!

First time eating here today. Has a great outside area that catches the sun, if you feel it's too cold to eat outside then there is inside space downstairs. The service and the food were excellent. If you are in Manchester l can recommend you pay this place a visit

The staff are friendly and the food is quite good, though nothing that special. Prices are higher than they should be (6.50 for basic desserts), and they slap on a 10% service charge too.

The girl who serves and takes the orders need better speak in English.... I have asked 4 times for a water in the end up our experience I finally got it. I also asked a pizza for a starter with no artichokes she couldn't understand me and came twice checking what I don't want on pizza and she keep asking if I don't want mushrooms ( mushrooms is my favourite thing eat). When finally after 20 min she got it that I don't want artichokes.... My partner and I ordered pizza for a starter to share and pasta for a main. I have explained to the waitress that we will have a pizza to share and pasta after we finish ... when pizza came the waitress said that pasta is on the way I was like on my God! I explained again how we want our meal sk she managed to sort it out with the chef... How CAN I EAT PIZZA AND PASTA AT THE SAME TIME Oh MY GOSH. ALL THE CERVICE WAS something that I never experienced but the food was fantastic buy as I said service was tragic!

I believe one of the best Italian restaurants in Manchester especially for pizza and pasta. If you are in city center, this restaurant will be good choice to try their cuisine and give your feedback. The staff are very friendly and cooperative

Dos entrantes, cuatro principales, dos postres a compartir, tres tercios y tres pintas y dos cafés solos, BUENÍSIMOS, 30 Libras por comensal. VOLVEREMOS.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They greeted us quickly and we got seated quickly however we had to ask for menus. Drinks were on the pricy side £9.50 for an Aperol Spritz. The food was of good quality and came well presented. They did ask us if we wanted some water for the table, to my mind I thought this would be free tap water, however they charged us for a large bottle of water. Also there is a 10% service charge at the end of the bill. I didn't particularly agree with this as there were only two of us and they never asked us to put it on the bill.

Absolutely fantastic. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff but THE FOOD!!! Wow. We had the sharing platter and some bread and oil for starters between 4 of us and there was leftovers, it was huge. Everything was delicious on the platter. The mains were all incredible- perfectly cooked and decent sized portions. The shot of limoncello at tye end was a nice touch too. Thank you for a lovely evening- we'll be back again!

Really moody staff today at lunchtime. Overpriced dishes. Then bought some meats from the deli and the server didn’t use gloves or wash his hands. Then took my cash as payment and didn’t wash hands again after cash handling. Moved straight into next customer. I won’t be returning

Very nice Italian restaurant with amazing food. Both the pizza and the pasta are very tasty, big portions. At dinner, they usually also serve you with Limoncello at the end of the night. Truly Italian experience. The shop towards the exit is a nice touch and you can buy some great sweets or other authentic products.

Went in for some deli meats and cheese and left 90 minutes later, friendly staff and great cocktails, thanks to Ryan for keeping us entertained and our glasses full
