Salvis Deansgate Square in Manchester

£26 for 1 pasta dish is criminal. Likely I won’t be returning. There are cheaper and better places out there. Seriously can’t get my head around this massive 44% price increase.

The atmosphere is nice, but the food is very bad. We tried four different pastas and they were all very bland and tasteless. Prices are high and not even reasonable for the quality you get. Will not go again.

Will start with the good, food was great delicious and authentic. But the service was atrocious. We went on a Saturday afternoon and we were 1 of 2 tables so really no excuses. We had to request service a number of times. Wine was warm and not a cheap bottle. Rude a number of times.

So, we’re here again. Pulled into the outside seating by the sun and then lured into the main restaurant for food. Great decision. The antipasto were delicious - calamari and courgette - on the money. Although my wife suspected the accompanying sauce might not have been home made, it still worked. The arancini artuffo were bang on. So, let’s move onto why we came here. The pizza. We were not disappointed - it was thin crusted, the base a mix of savoury and sweet dough - and the topping a bespoke mix of my wife’s choice - margarita base, artichoke and salami. Cooked on the golden mother of all pizza ovens. Boom! Best pizza we’ve eaten in Manchester. Because I’m a sucker for desert - or had to be the Tiramisu. Lovely. Come for food and stay for the friendly service . Bellissimo!

It's a bit tricky to get to Salvi's at deansgate at the minute due to construction work, but once you are there, the ambiance is great, the staff is very helpful, and food is delicious. Lots of vegetarian options and even fish. Definitely worth a visit.

This place has the best service we’ve ever experienced — truly outstanding! My friend and I come here often for the delicious pizza, and every time the atmosphere is just amazing. Everything about this restaurant is simply top-notch. All staff is so friendly, Laura creates such a cozy, welcoming vibe that you feel like you are visiting friends, not just eating out!

This is for a friend’s birthday. It was booked on a nice large 12 person table. The food is decent, I personally tried the most expensive dish the lobster spaghetti. The lobster is really tender and nicely seasoned but could provide more value if the whole lobster is served instead of half. Really beautiful location. (Majority of mains are between 16-20)

Stopped off at this little bar restaurant on a hot day and it turned out to be a brilliant choice. I sat out in the beer garden with an ice-cold pint — it’s a real sun trap, perfect for relaxing. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and even though I only had a drink, the food smelled absolutely amazing. It’s also a great spot to sit back and watch the area around you grow, with buildings going up all around. A lovely mix of atmosphere, sunshine, and good vibes — I’ll definitely be back, next time to try the food!

Just ate here this evening, would never come back. Service, although I understand they are busy, they are not friendly at all. I ate the pasta ragu - do not order was literally penne and chopped tomatoes, and nearly £20. Wish I had gone to pizza express up the road.

I can't begin to describe how amazing my experience at Salvi's was. My husband took me here for Mother's Day with our 2 boys. The service exceeded our expectations, everyone was very attentive and ensured we were happy. It was such a lovely evening. The food made me feel like I was in Italy, very authentic dishes. I requested additional items on our dishes that weren't on the menu and they were happy to make this. The gentleman who assisted our table (he had just got back from a 2 weeks trip to Australia), he was the best!! Unfortunately I forgot his name, I should've wrote it down. He was the BEST and made our experience memorable. I would certainly recommend this place, we can't wait to return.

We went in on a Monday night so the place was dead, so I’ve had to rate the service as excellent but to be fair the staff were extremely friendly. I had a pizza but can’t remember the name but it was delicious, nice and thin and full of fresh ingredients. The prices were very reasonable for Manchester. I would definitely go again.

Went for dinner for mother day on Sunday 30th March 2025 me my wife and two kids My wife love Italian so she opted for salvis and they did not disappoint she said she felt like if she had visited Italy it self , it’s a must try you won’t regret it and potion size a great as well

Salvi’s is one of our favorite spots in Manchester. As someone who often travels to Italy, being at Salvi’s always feels like a little trip back — from the authentic atmosphere and friendly staff to the incredible food. The team was so welcoming and accommodating. I can’t wait to return soon!

I was pleasantly surprised to find authentic prepared dishes. Tasty and packed with flavour. Good portion sizes and probably the best tiramisu I’ve eaten. Their cheese focaccia was a good size but most of all the mozzarella was fresh and tasty. No cream in their dishes this is proof in the pudding it’s authentic. Great service and beautiful relaxing atmosphere. Love the house Chardonnay light refreshing but most of all it’s 40% discount. I will definitely take friends to enjoy a group celebration and wonderful ambiance.

Our first time eating here. It was incredible ! (Coming from someone who has been to Napoli and has high standards!) friendly attentive staff, Gabriele was wonderful.

Came here for valentines and didn’t realise i was going to have to keep my winter coat on it was that cold. The food was really good, so much pasta i couldn’t finish, that and the fact it went cold quite quickly. Im all for a bit of atmosphere but when i cant even feel my fingers it draws the line. Their was a a lovely jazz trio, however due to this the door to the ‘indoor’ / ‘outdoor’ section of the restaurant was left open so i sadly became really cold really quick.

I ordered the risotto which was absolutely horrendous hated it couldn’t even finish it the only decent thing about this restaurant was probably the pizza and i wouldn’t even go back to eat the pizza came to Manchester for a day and probably picked the wrong restaurant plus the waiters weren’t really in a good mood all of them

Racist middle aged Asian server. Absolutely shocking temperament and sullen look on his face. Rude and obnoxious. Table next to ours had people drinking with their feet up. Worst Salvi’s restaurant of all the three. Disappointed and a total waste of time and money.

Fantastic food especially the lobster pasta, for the quality you get id say it’s very reasonably priced also. Will be back for sure

They were surprised when we arrived even though we had made a reservation. We had to wait for a table. We were seated in a corner by the toilets away from the main tables. Service was slow. The staff were focused on the main area - not the corner by the toilets. Had to ask for drinks order 3 times. A number of desserts were unavailable when we were ordering. There were people vaping at the table next to ours- not challenged by the staff. Poor experience overall unfortunately.

Dined many times at Salvi’s in the corn exchange. The Deansgate square restaurant is just as good. A more modern spacious restaurant, there is a more open feel to the place compared to the corn exchange. Things to try. The octopus and nduja is probably their star dish. It’s fantastic. Also the fennel sausage with Friarielli is a must try too. My tip. Order the octopus as a starter portion and have the fennel sausage as a secondi. Well stocked deli too in the corn exchange. Stock up when you visit

We were sever by Luigi… he was really attentive to our needs and provided an excellent service. I cannot believe we haven’t eaten here before now… the food is absolutely fabulous! We have really enjoyed our evening… highly recommend…

Lovely restaurant with great staff. The food arrived quickly and lived up to what was expected. Our waiter, Owen, provided us with great and attentive service, 10/10. Highly recommend for folks that like italian/international cuisine with a quiet, calming atmosphere.

Came for a birthday, 15 people. Staff were not overly friendly, did not ask the table what drinks we want, didn’t ask how the food was. The gnocchi, had more tomato’s than gnocchi to the point that she finished eating and the bowl was still more than half full. My pasta was tomato based however it tasted like tomato paste I could taste no garlic or anything it was just spaghetti (which wasn’t stated) and tomato no other flavour. Another person had the calzone, he had to scrape loads of cheese out and hide it under some dough because the sight of that much cheese while trying to eat it was sickly, the calzone also had only cheese and tomato. Personally I don’t like unisex toilets either and that’s what they were. As a woman I just don’t feel comfortable, this part isn’t a complaint just a warning as I know many other women don’t like this.

The food here is decent, the décor is pretty, although the music can be a bit too loud, similar to other restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, I’ve had disappointing experiences with the wine on two separate visits. On a previous occasion, I was served the wrong wine and was told I must have been mistaken, even though I can tell wines apart from their taste. And on my most recent visit, my first glass of wine had a dead fly in it, which can happen, but the replacement glass had a really unpleasant odour, and this time, like on my previous visit, the staff member told me they thought there was nothing wrong with it. While I appreciate that the staff did replaced the wine the first time and removed it from the bill the second time, the thing that left me bitter sweet was that they also argued with me each time. This felt unprofessional and left me reluctant to return. I appreciate the gestures to resolve the issues, but the lack of acknowledgment of my concerns was disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback as an opportunity to improve its service.

Delicious pizza and fantastic service!

Heard a lot about this Italian restaurant, located in the new Deansgate Square area. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is friendly. We felt very welcomed. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and very tasteful, however the issue I had is that the food is not as good as I’d hoped or expected. Three of the dishes ordered on the table, the Pasta Polipo N’duja, the Ravioli Del Giorno (ravioli of the day) & the Branzino Sorrento, were all covered with exactly the same tomato sauce with cooked whole cherry tomatoes. Because the sauce was used so liberally on all 3 dishes, it felt like I ordered the same dish 3 times. Also the sea bass I ordered was under-seasoned, and the skin was soggy (from the sauce) with an unpleasant texture. On a positive note, the portion sizes are very generous indeed & no risk of leaving hungry! Also my friend ordered the Pizza Margherita and said it was very good. He also liked the cooking of his fillet steak, however he didn’t enjoy the taste of the red wine sauce on it. I’d recommend that the restaurant should consider rethinking the sauces they’re using on their recipes and possibly start experimenting with different alternatives.

Lovely food however service extremely poor. Nobody came to take our order after seating us until we grabbed someone's attention. Waiter asked if we wanted desserts before we had had our mains. Nobody cared to ask if we were enjoying our food and staff tried to clear the table before we had finished. A 10% service charge was added, which we decided to remove. Many other tables who were ordering more expensive food and drinks received a much better service. Unfortunately the toilets were in a dire state which contributed to a poor overall experience. A staff member was informed of the failings as we left and directed us towards the owner or manager who said "we will do better tomorrow" in a rather sarcastic tone.

We love Salvis. Our favourite is the Corn Exchange location but this one is more pram-friendly as there aren't any stairs. Not much atmosphere as it was very quiet and this venue has a less cosy feel but the food was great as always.

The most unfriendly manager you will ever meet, the restaurant was empty. We asked for a table they said we needed to pre book, we where made to do this on our phone whilst standing by the doors before we could be seated to a table.. Once we where seated it didn't get any better, very flexible with the menu and rude about it too.. Never going back

Two weeks ago my boyfriend and I celebrated our wedding commitment in this place! The pizza, wine and desserts were very delicious; The place, attention and atmosphere, excellent. It was definitely a perfect place to close such a special day.

I had very high expectations for this place and I was disappointed. The food tasted okay and the pizza was thick and bland. Very expensive for what it is. I probably wouldn’t return. However the restaurant was comfortable and clean but toilets need checking more often.

Wonderful experience, highly recommended if you want a real taste of Italy . We were served by Laura and the wonderful staff there. Olives and Foccacia were really good .Pasta Vongole was sublime. My wife had the Mussells Soup which she really enjoyed Came again for lunch OCT 24 pasta was super tasty… I was missing Italy as usually do two trips a year so this made me feel right in the foodie heaven that is Italy. Great Deli too !!!We will definitely return soon due to the great staff and Ambiance and of course real Italian food

Went to meet my friends there who were visiting . The door was locked on them after their drinks were served, I was escorted through the restaurant ,to which I thought it was strange. Very unwelcoming .

RODENTS. Took my girlfriend here for what we thought would be a nice dinner, but it turned into an unpleasant one. While we’re eating, we spot a mouse running through a hole in the wall. We told the waiter, and he acted all concerned at first, but when we asked if this was normal, he said of course it isn’t and then we noticed him and his colleague actually laughing about it, indicating the frequent occurrence of this situation. Then the mouse ran out again, and he just goes, “there’s nothing I can do, this happens in restaurants.” This is supposed to be a nice place, not some cheap fast-food joint. I told him this wasn’t OK, but instead of apologizing, he says, “it’s a mouse, not a rat,” as if that makes it any better. I’m not in pest control, but I’m pretty sure rodents in restaurants are a big no. When I tried to explain how unhygienic this was, he kept saying “it happens in hospitality” and even tried blaming it on customers, saying the mouse must’ve come in through the front door. Meanwhile, I had already told him it came from a hole in the wall. Absolutely ridiculous. If you care at all about cleanliness, avoid this place.

Amazing Place with amazing prices and absolutely lovely staff. The service is incredible, so helpful and very friendly!! The food is honestly some of the best food i’ve had and honestly can’t wait to come back. No complaints on any of the food!!

I can’t lie, the staff were trippin, we asked for Bread and olives and they charged us £18, crazy prices for some carbohydrates! One of our parties food came 30 minutes after everyone and was the wrong meal! Some of the staff were friendly and some of them would ignore us, wouldn’t go back, it’s a shame as we heard good things

I was travelling with my family from Brazil to England, and Salvis was the first place that we ate when arriving in Manchester. We loved the Food and hospitalitty of the place.

Food is excellent. But unfortunate additions to the bell. Like adding vat to the total price, and adding obligatory service charge. I know that vat usually included in the price of the menu but what happened was not good. Imagine our bill around 59 based on the menu but had to pay 77. See attached bill

I went today at 3pm and it was closed… what a waste of time walking there. Update your opening times information!!!

I love it here, I took some colleagues for dinner as I knew they’d enjoy it. I’ve been several times with my boyfriend before. The staff are always fabulous and so gorgeously friendly! The food is phenomenal, I highly recommend the arancini tartufo, burrata and the pasta nonna teresa.

Salvi’s use cheese made with animal rennet. But they mark items on their menu that include cheese as vegetarian. If you are a vegetarian or eating out with a vegetarian, avoid like the plague. They are claiming that items are vegetarian when they are not, which is disgusting.

I had an unfortunate experience at a restaurant recently. Initially, they listed a seafood stew for 35 pounds on their menu, but there was no seafood pasta available. However, when I requested seafood pasta, they kindly offered to prepare it for me. Generally, one would expect the pasta to be cheaper than the stew, given the difference in portion sizes. Surprisingly, the pasta was also priced at 35 pounds, making it the most expensive dish in this modest restaurant. This price seemed excessive for the offering. So the question is, do you think the pasta in the picture is worth 35 pounds?

Lovely restaurant, food and service. Unfortunately the overall experience was quite underwhelming…the main courses arrived within seconds of us finishing the starters. Felt more like ‘fast food’ than a relaxing dining experience. Would visit other Salvis locations over this one.

Best Italian I had in Manchester, so far! The pastas are amazing, the pistachio cake is out of this world and the service is excellent. A true Italian experience and a must go restaurant.

Went there on my birthday and it was amazing , the staff were 10/10, service was great (helps if you’re Italian and understand their jokes as most of the staff is). I normally don’t eat much when I’m out, however the food was too good for me not to finish! Definitely recommend!

I would 100% recommend the pasta cooking class with Anna at Salvi’s. She is so attentive, kind and patient with a great sense of humour. She gives you so many tips and tricks that will help you make the pasta at home. Thank you Anna!

Very unhappy with the service at this restaurant. We had a booking which we showed up 15 mins late to due to travel delays which we let the restaurant know before hand. Our first waiter nonchalantly shrugged off (and marked us as unattended). He was very rude, not waiting for us to show us to our table and practically throwing our menus on the table. Other waiters did somewhat make up for it, but felt very uncomfortable throughout our experience.

Fantastic restaurant, had an evening with Gennaro Contaldo, service and staff were polite. Lovely atmosphere unbelievable food a wine, couldn’t ask for more.

Had a fantastic visit at Salvis! Highly recommend the calamari, and my pasta was excellent too. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Although prices are on the higher side for an Italian restaurant, overall, it was a great visit. We booked a table, and would highly recommend this as it was quite busy on a Wednesday night

Went for a meal at New Years, we were asked to wait as the person that eventually greeted us said people weren't leaving on time. We got taken to the outdoor area where a loud entertainer was singing. It was so loud I had to shout through my meal, which was plonked in front of me while the waiter shouted over to another table filled with his friends. The food was passable but was clearly microwaved and was both hot and cold. After waiting 20 mins for the bill, me and my partner went to the bar to pay. Would not go again.

All the servers we encountered were lovely if somewhat rushed and a bit inattentive. It was a busy Saturday night but I think they could have done with an extra server or two as many tables were left waiting for long periods. We had a bit of a wait after we were seated and for our main but otherwise our service was generally pretty timely, just not as attentive as we'd hope. We ordered our food and drinks a little while after we were seated but after that we weren't offered any water or asked for further drinks orders once our food started arriving and it was a bit difficult to catch the attention of the staff. Once we asked for the bill we were given a complimentary limoncello which was a nice touch to end the meal. The atmosphere was bright and busy but it was overly loud with live music playing over the top of everyone's conversations, so it was a bit overwhelming and difficult to be heard even sitting right next to one another. The music was very nice, brilliant singer, just too loud, I'd have preferred it to be a bit more in the background to give a more relaxed atmosphere. The food was hit and miss, the arancini starter was a bit small for the price and underseasoned, my partners pasta de nonna Teresa was delicious, rich and flavourful, but my buffula pizza was nothing special, I was hoping for a good portion of fresh buffula mozzarella considering the pizza was several pounds more expensive than their standard fior di late margherita pizza, but it was just a few small melted blobs dotted around the base with the tomato sauce which I found a bit disappointing. The pizza dough was very good though. Overall we felt like the menu was not that diverse, just the same ingredients repeated across a number of different dishes, which were definitely overpriced for what they were. Also I think the kitchen/bar may have had a problem with fruit flies because I had several drowned in my aperol spritz and there were more flying around while we were eating. Overall, it wasn't bad, just wasn't worth the money and wasn't suited for a relaxed dinner for two and I don't think we would go back.

Very disappointing, avoid this place. I confirmed a reservation 17/9 with someone who seemed very rushed on the phoned but assured me my reservation for 7pm 18/9 was at the Deansgate location. Fri evening I called to say we were running late, new to the city, we underestimated the traffic, dropping my daughter to university, I was hoping I could provide a very good restaurant experience for her. When I called to revise the time they could not confirm my reservation, but assured me 18/9 7.30pm was fine. We arrived a party of 3, only to be ushered off to the side by an older lady, we were told there were several tables just about to finish up. 5 min later the lady came to say it would be only 2 min further. We never met her again, 30 min later we were brought to an outside garden styled area, that had no heating and was quite cold. Service was very slow, for attention drinks etc, 30 min later we got out starter at 8.30 We waited another 50 minutes no sign of our main course arriving, I had to go outside at 9.20pm to put more money in the meter nearly 2 hrs up and our main course had not arrived. My order eventually arrived, the ribeye a very thin cut, more like a thin piece of veal, unfortunately it was grizzled throughout no flavour as you expect a marbled fat, flavourful ribeye, ( Costato Manzo Piemontese ) see photo of menu attached came covered in a paste like tapenade, absolutely nothing else on the plate, at the cost of £35 plus service charge 10% , wow . My daughters had a gnocchi dish and the other dish a Ravoli which they said was watery no flavour. I think the staff felt sorry for us, as 2 staff came over after the meal and apologised and they knew situation for 2 hrs we waited for our main course and we never heard from them during our long wait , finally we paid out bill £151, an older waiter came by he apologised and offered us a glass of prosecco, virtually forced it on us, we were deflated and no mood to engage with him about the appalling service , food and prices and the audacity to include a 10% service charge for 3 person table. The only thing I can say was our saving grace, for the last hour in this garden styled area a Music DJ came on and blasted out music at a completely outrageous insane level, we were thankful we were at the opposite end of the room. I was glad to leave, on our way out the lady who greeted us on our arrival, did her best to ignore us and pretended not to see us. The only thing I can say is there is a lot of pretence going on in this restaurant, please do yourself a favour and avoid this place.

The pasta and the pizza and the risotto was lovely couldn’t ask for more the staff and the manger very kind and funny and warm hearted would recommend to everyone and anyone.

Awful experience, food was okay but the service was abysmal. They got both my starter and main wrong and took ages to bring them. They also forgot about multiple of our drinks orders. As other reviews have said they seem to be highly understaffed. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone, for the price the service should be much better.

When we got to Salvi’s a blonde hair middle age women was very friendly on arrival she seemed very welcoming. From that we had false hope and was all downhill from there unfortunately. Once seated we waited to be served. The waitress with dark hair in a phoney tail and glasses took our drinks order. But the room the menus away from us after telling her what drinks we wanted! Then waited over 10 minutes for a drink, even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy for a Saturday night. Once the drinks arrived we let the women with red hair and winged eyeliner know about the issue. To which she said she would resolve it and never came back when we made eye contact with her she walked off the other direction… After another 10 minutes we had to ask again. A different waitress served us to which she said “ah do you even need the menu or do you want me to take your order now” at this point we had already been waiting over half an hour. And the tables next to us had been served. A waiter then brought the wrong food to us and when placed on the table he had started to walk off before we could tell him it wasn’t ours. He then turned back around and huffed and took the food away. A while after this we waited for our carbonara was brought to us by a women in a blue suit she was okay. We had asked for all our food to come at the same time, we then had to wait over 10 minutes for our pizza. We overheard a gentleman tell the women at the table next to us that they had stopped making pizza’s?? When the staff were all very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. The customer service was abysmal. It was our anniversary and it completely ruined it for us and left feeling robbed! And they had the cheek to put the service charge at £5! She was cocky when we paid for the bill and said to come again.. which we will not! I left very upset and made a special day a memory I want to forget and now £60 down which is a waste for the experience we had! We were on time for our 8pm reservation but then received an email saying we had missed the booking? Please for anyone looking to eat here don’t waste your time or money! There are far more nicer places in Manchester to go to!

Fantastic veggie pizza thank you

We went to a 30th Birthday party, we both had a bowl of pasta which was very filling and full of flavour, the bar staff was excellent dancing with guests and chatting having a laugh while constantly working hard serving food and drinks. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and great food.

The food absolutely amazing, the staff are nice, especially the Spanish guy( forgot his name), he is lovely

Well up to their standard - interesting interior & clientele - even a doggie diner to pet. What more can you ask.

Would highly recommend here for a meal. The food was fabulous, the service was spot on and the atmosphere was great. Accommodated our party with 2 small babies too. No complaints at all, would definitely visit again.
