Saltaire Bar and Eatery in Leeds

Poor service and very expensive

Typical airport eatery, overpriced, busy and lacking in refinement. On this occasion, I just had a hot drink, but it's not a pleasant experience, more necessity.

Food ok. A bit pricey. No interaction from serving staff when delivering the food order. No one asking if all ok . Not even a glance from the clearing staff. £25.00 for a fish finger sarnie and a drink. First and last time for me. Just my opinion

LBA has a lot of work to do to improve it's standards, Ceaser Salad was a cheap breaded chicken fillet deep fried and plonked on some lettuce with what tasted like leftover bacon from breakfast

Without doubt some of the rudest staff I've ever experienced in hospitality. I had the misfortune of having to order at the bar as the online ordering wouldn't work. Staff members were swearing at each other, speaking to each other like crap, not looking at customers when they were being served, seeming to relish being out of certain items. Just awful. In contrast. The waiting staff were lovely. The food was fine. Go elsewhere if you're at Leeds Bradford!

£7.40 a pint and others served before me....

Had drinks before a flight on a Sunday afternoon, never seen the bar area so empty.

Incredibly average sausage bap and expensive.

Visited early at around 4am & felt the staff were unfriendly and certainly not enjoying their jobs - food passable but we come here out of necessity rather than choice.

The main chef was extremely rude and disrespectful l. He was swearing across the whole restaurant at the wait staff while she was on her break. He was berating and degrading her regarding a order that hadn’t been collected by another member of staff! Humiliating her in front of a full restaurant! This is completely unacceptable and disgraceful!

Full breakfast was stone cold, yet quick. Poor quality sausages and beans. And the tea I ordered never arrived. Poor

Don't expect much in an airport terminal but the service here is shocking. Firstly the app for ordering kept crashing and put two holding debits on my bank. When the food eventually turned up (it wasn't busy) the drinks did not arrive. After waiting 30 minutes for the drinks (no drink with the food) I went to ask the bar. The bar maid could not care less and decided to serve someone else who was hanging around. Eventually drinks turned up but probably would not if had not complained as no one cared.

Allowed me to order a breakfast (at £17). Only then to say I couldn't have it because they stopped serving it 45m earlier. One person on the till so had to wait while others in front were sorted for the same issue. Then won't get a refund for several days but still had to fork out again for another (slightly different) breakfast. Why was it on the menu in the first place if I couldn't have it. Why couldn't you just have cooked the full English instead of the one I ordered. Staff unhelpful. Only one person on bar serving a whole line of other people trying to fix their mistake.

Inability to customise order online led to a less than enjoyable breakfast experience. It's exactly what you don't need after half an hour stood in security lines.

Very expensive beer - £8 is too much

Ordered breakfast which was nice but drinks didn’t arrive ! Had to go and get them ourselves once we had eaten. Not a good service especially as the restaurant was only up to 50% capacity.

Comida fría y cara. Fue lo mismo a principios de este año, pero pensé que una segunda oportunidad era lo razonable. Uso regularmente el local Saltaire, que valoro altamente.

Lovely place but very expensive

Like most airports, prices are hugh but quick to order and quick service. Nothing special about a breakfast.

Food not very nice. Small breakfast, good portion but poor quality. Ordered breakfast 8 am ish but clearly most items on the plate had been sat under lights/in bain marie for some time. Poor quality sausage (almost cold), bacon luke warm, beans dried out an hidden under solid an cold fried eggs, cheap hash browns barely warm, etc etc. Slightly grumpy server but then I would be grumpy if I had to run this food out.

I fairly enjoyed eating jere at Leeds Bradford. The service was excellent and the food came really quickly. The staff were all lovely here and willing to help if you were in need. The atmosphere was really loud because Leeds United had just bet Plymouth Argyle. There were men shouting to others and it was a bit crazy.

Nice bar at lba...service is good,but difficult to get a seat...as ignorant people put bags on seats instead of letting people sit down...still worth a visit though

Alway pleasant atmosphere but as expected at certain times very busy & nowhere to sit, same as all airports prices not for the faint hearted, so no dig at Saltaire bar, same every bar & airport bars.

The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I will definitely be going back next year to have some more of their fantastic food.

Didn't have any food, only 2 Capachino .

I ordered the chicken skewers with rice and coleslaw, but it looked like something a five-year-old threw together and then microwaved. The taste was just as bad as it looked, which is shocking considering the price—£18! Honestly, it felt like daylight robbery. Save your money and grab a sandwich from WHSmith or hit up Burger King instead.

I'm giving 1 star purely for the tea and coffee which was adequate if not extortionately priced. The table was cleared but they didn't clean it and the staff looked as miserable as the food. The food was over priced so we ordered cheesy chips which was a mistake. Disgusting, sloppy, cold, frozen chips mess. Inedible. It came quicker than it took to make the tea. Avoid like the plague!

Good airport service with a quick service and decent food quality

There is limited choice for food at the airport so expect to pay, we had two teas and toast costs around £16 jam etc costs extra, it's an airport so atmosphere is what it 8s.

I don't mean to come over all 'Yorkshire' but £23 for two acceptable cappuccinos and two mediocre bacon rolls is expensive by anyone's standards. It may well be that they are simply passing on the airport charges. Nevertheless for this kind of money I expect something a bit better - but there is not a lot of choice. We were there at 5am and the place was rammed( early October as well, so hardly the height of the season - the airport just doesn't have the infrastructure to support the passenger numbers.

Food was surprisingly good but £40 for two mains a cup of tea and half a lager is eye watering profiteering from a captive market

Hard to get a table. In app ordering was not good. Servers didn’t even speak. Drinks ok but food is not good and is too expensive.

Muy mal servicio. Todo el personal parece que no quiere estar allí. Un montón de personal haciendo muy poco, con solo uno sirviendo a los clientes en el bar, con una cola de clientes y sin apreciación por el tiempo de espera del cliente. Sin contacto visual, sin sonrisas. Aprovechando una audiencia cautiva con precios extremadamente altos y mucho personal que tiene una vida fácil. El personal habla entre ellos mientras los clientes esperan ser atendidos. Emplear a alguien que se preocupa y puede ejecutar un servicio eficiente y eficaz.

Very poor service. All staff look like they don’t want to be there. Lots of staff doing very little, with only one serving customers at the bar, with a customer queue, and no appreciation for customer wait time. No eye contact given, no smiles. Taking advantage of a captive audience with extremely high prices and lots of staff having an easy life. Staff talking amongst themselves whilst customers are waiting to be served. Employ someone that cares and can run an efficient and effective service.

Annual pre flight pints always a pleasure

Ordered poached eggs instead of fried Fried were very nice though You ask for a tip before the food has even come!? What am I tipping for???? It's basically a rip off but you've got a captive audience ......

£57 for fish and chip, a coffee and a coke! That’s should be illegal! How can you live with yourself

Hugely overpriced mediocre food, I know you pay a premium in the airport but jesus, £67 for something worth, if I was being generous, less that 25 quid. And our order was slightly wrong. STAND AND DELIVER!! Give a tip though because always remember the guys doing the work are not the ones who get the profits.

Well 21 quid for a cheap burger and and some Iceland flat chip things, I asked for vinegar. They had run out. The tables had not been cleaned, typical captured airport trash food and charge a fortune. This would cost 5 quid at the local pub 1 mile away.

We ordered breakfast and coffees and asked a waitress to clean the table, which never happened! We had to go, find a bit of blue role and wipe the table. All crockery and cutlery was dirty and greasy, food was overcooked and very chewy. Not a good start of the morning!

The staff were lovely, there was a slight misunderstanding and they gave us a free drink as an apology. Would highly recommend for the great service

Even by airport standards this place is overpriced and food awful. Poached eggs were snotty and under cooked. Mushroom , 1 was cold. Bacon undercooked and maybe boiled vs grilled. I've eaten at Gatwick in the peak times and got better food than this.

Mesa no despejada o limpiada del comedor anterior, tuvimos que quitar la vajilla sucia nosotros mismos. La superficie de la mesa era pegajosa y sucia. La comida fue extremadamente decepcionante. Ensalada lateral con hamburguesa desnuda era una cucharada de col rallada, una rodaja muy pequeña de tomate y una rodaja minúscula de cebolla. Nada más. La hamburguesa de pollo estaba demasiado cocida y seca. Chiis mal cocinado. Porciones muy pequeñas, muy sobreprecio.

Nice cheesy chips, HOWEVER someone misplaced a PIECE OF SEASONED WOOD in the sweet potato fries. bit right into it thinking it was a fry. Service lovely though.

¿Por dónde empiezo? Llegó y se encontró numerosos tableros de mesa tambaleándose. Finalmente encontré una mesa menos tambaleante. Fui a pedir comida, y noté que todas las áreas del piso no habían sido barridas ni limpiadas por un tiempo, asquerosas y repugnantes. Mi esposa estaba convencida de que encontró una pulga, sí una pulga, en su tobillo. Esperó por comida durante 20 minutos, cuando solo llegó un plato de pasta. Preguntó sobre las otras 2 comidas y parecía haber confusión! Plato de pasta dijo que estaba cubierto con parmesano. Sin parmesano. Preguntó al camarero y dijo que no había queso con opción vegana. Nunca pedí opción vegana. Después de 35 minutos todavía no hay otra comida. Procedí al bar para pedir un reembolso ya que en esta etapa estaba fumando. ¡La factura de 3 platos y 3 bebidas, 1 sidra, 70 libras! Gerente reembolsado por los platos que no habían llegado pero no hay disculpas reales, sospecho que esto pasa mucho. Y la impresora no pudo imprimir la confirmación del reembolso. Desafortunadamente los restaurantes del aeropuerto tienen una audiencia capturada, así que no sienta necesidad de un buen servicio, parece. Huelga decir que no volverá y asegurará que otros sepan sobre esta experiencia.

Got the food within 2 minutes of ordering. Still waiting for drinks 10 mins later. Very expensive.

GLUTEN FREE on menu…..Nothing was too much trouble- my child is Gluten free and the menu does allow for gf options. However, the staff went out of their way to ensure all was fine including a gluten free fryer and checking exactly what went in and ingredients too. Couldn’t have asked to more. Chef even came out to speak to us and offered suggestions. Thank you made my daughters day 💚

**updated - we stupidly decide to visit for drinks August 2024 ... Our daughter that has Coeliac Disease asked a random girl on the bar for the Allergen Awareness menu after a manager told her to. She was quite frankly rude!! Clearly no understanding of allergies. Complained to a manager. Probably won't do anything but avoid this place! Especially if you have any kind of dietary requirements!!! Not the best start to our holiday!!! Cheesy chips that didn't include actual cheese!!!! Just a very thick cheese type sauce. Only highlight was the kids fish and chips! No vegetarian topping option for the chips. Only vegetarian chili served as a main overpriced meal!! Malibu and coke had to be returned as coke was flat. Probably wouldn't return for food!! Katsu chicken chips were okay. Hubby described his breaded chicken with chip shop curry on the top. Chips topped with bacon which was very salty! Not brilliant.

Well overpriced and rubbish food, even for an airport.

£70 for 4 breakfasts, poached egg was hard, bacon was fatty and Mushroom was overcooked. Scrambled egg was dry. Orange juice was mostly ice cubes and no tea spoons provided for those that ordered hot drinks.

Very helpful Jack actually come out of the bar to help us find a seat as we had two young children with us

Ordered two mini breakfasts - one vegetarian and one normal. The vegetarian was ordered because of a sulphite allergy, which is usual in normal sausages but it's not in vegetarian. When the food was delivered, it was not stated which one was which. By the time we managed to clarify which breakfast was vegetarian, the food was stone cold. Your staff need to ensure people are told which plates are which, especially in the day and age of food allergies. It's extremely serious stuff. We are not impressed.

Typical airport bar/restaurant. Drinks were delivered soon after ordering. Food came shortly afterwards. £54 for what I can say pretty below average food. Sweet potato fries were well Don and the naked Korean chicken burger was as dry as my flip flop!

Expensive and poor quality food. Waitress spilled milk, cleaned up but didn't bother to bring a replacement 😂

Worst service from the girl with bown hair, very very rude, no please no thank you, when I asked for a receipt she rolled her eyes and stomped off handed me the receipt and walked off without acknowledging my thanks for getting it. Servuce was friendly and attentsuve but the English breakfast was average and the coffee ( americano) terrible. Also the small tables near the window were wobbly. As a solo traveller I had to get a table number before ordering. By the time I had placed my order the table had been occupied by others

Ordered Cumberland sausage mash peas and gravy. Hand on heart one of the worst meals I have ever had, I wouldn't have inflicted it on my dogs. The powdered mash was disgustingly dry and grey in colour. The Cumberland sausage weren't they tasted worse than those you can buy for a £1 for one hundred of them from Heron foods. There where no peas so they gave me "extra gravy" I wouldn't be lying if I said the extra gravy was a tablespoon full. Awful experience and all for £15

Nobody wipes or clears the tables even if you tip. The place is really grubby and 5.50 for a pint lol. The picture is an £18 meal. Around 12 chips and one of the worst chicken burgers I’ve ever had the misfortune to try. Please just eat on the way

So arrived hoping to have some nice food before flying to Lanzarote, the vegan options were dyer! We ordered chips and gravy thinking it's a good staple but honestly it was like eating styrofoam/ Lego with a tiny trip of gravy! How can chips and gravy go so wrong? £5.99 too 🙄

Cold food and warm water! My very expensive breakfast was barely luke warm. The poached eggs were cold. We also ordered 2 bottles of water on a Buxton water deal, and they were warm!

Ordered half a craft beer and a ceasar salad. Arrived a cider and the overdressed wilting lettuce on a scladinglly hot plate. The staff were nice but perplexed by my request for the beer I ordered and a cold plate for the salad. Really spoilt my meal and I was stressed before my holiday. My wife's bacon sandwich was very fatty and my small breakfast was cool. No drinks appeared so a polite young man sorted them for us. Why doesn't the management sort out this place, too many poor reviews over a long period of time!

Ordered 2 breakfast buns and 2 cups of tea, had to submit a down payment and sell my kidneys just to pay for it £35!! Like WTF🤬

1200 lunchtime only 3 flights out not busy but the level of service is shocking 6 people behind bar & that person was on his phone don’t bother ordering on the app last time was 30 minutes & my plane was called before service & took 5/6 week chasing emails to get £15 for 2 beers refund back , place is clean just a shame service is slow poor

Awful tasteless sausages, stale mash that had a skin on top - microwaved?? Hard peas that had barely been cooked, accompanied by bland thin gravy. Two of the sausage and mash with 2 bottles of cider over £40!! Absolute rip off merchant's!!
