Put too much salt on the chips and some of the chips weren't fully cooked

Have eaten here a few times. Food is great, and the ambience is lovely. The team are extremely hospitable, and the Al fresco dining is lovely in the summer, and they have heaters for the colder evenings. Eating or just having a drink a lovely place to go

Ordered from here lots but for the first time we ordered via JustEat who failed to deliver so the restaurant delivered to us instead when they didn’t have to! (saving our Friday night!) Thank you so much! Great Fish & Chips!

Lovely little place and friendly

We were in Aylesbury visiting our Daughter when she abandoned us to go to a wedding…..Having to fend for ourselves I decided to check out the local cuisine and came across Salt & Vingar. Be it a little expensive, the food was great. Highly recommend and we will be visiting them again when we C our daughter again next Tuesday…: )

Delicious fish and chips! We have usually had take away but decided to eat in and glad we did. Fish was fresh and chips were perfect.

Absolutely amazing service and so helpful

I ordered online again to order for myself and my 2 children. I ordered Peri Peri chips amongst other fish dishes and when I got home the Peri Peri chips again didn't have any Peri Peri salt on them!! I mentioned this last time to Raj and he assured me thus wouldn't happen again but here we are again! The chips were all limp and soggy in the first place! I messages them through their website, they looked at the message and couldn't be bothered to respond to it! This is what they care about their dissatisfied customers....PATHETIC!! I won't be going there again. There are far better fish and chip places in Aylesbury that are far better and don't rip off their customers, like Cod Father or Ocean wave.

The family and I visited Aylesbury on the way home we googled fish and chips and found these guys. We were able to sit in and the food was great. The owner and staff were so friendly. You can even have a beer and ice cream. They all made the children so welcome, thanks for a great visit and we would pop in again when we pass through.

Fancied a fish and chips after work, ok had to wait to be cooked but it was fresh tasty non greasy and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ordered on Just eat - with an offer. Order accepted. 30 minutes later, cancelled without explanation. Called up, they said it wasn't then and to just order again. Went to order again, price gone up as offer not the same, yet still ordered again. 30 minutes later order cancelled *again* with no explanation. Avoid.

I've noticed a significant price increase.. I understand that.. But... I can get much more value at Wetherspoons and Bon a petit now.

Great food and lovely service from Raj! We had a nice evening in the sunshine while enjoying a yummy meal. Family of 8 we accommodated very nicely.

My husband recently bought pie and chips for lunch on the way home. The food went straight through the bag and ended up on my lap. The chips we could save were hard and not cooked. Not impressed at all.

Friendly staff, food cooked fresh, so took 20minutes to arrive, but was worth the wait. We had cod and chips, cod and a bap, curry sauce, child’s poppin chicken and chips and a burger and chips. Cod was big, batter crispy with loads of meaty fish. Chips and burger nice too, plus 4 drinks. Came to £55. Would definitely go back.

Highly recommended by locals, although I consider myself an ex local, cautiously leaving a review in case I get the pitchfork treatment! Have had a takeaway a while ago midweek and service was slow so interested to see what this would be like. The owner has put significant effort into diversifying outside of just being a fish and chip shop, by offering outside eating, cocktails, breakfasts. I was curious to see what it was like. We saw a waitress and asked about a table. Was told just to sit. I took 2 menus off her, she had a pile of 6, she asked if I could take one only and share as that’s all they had. Some what surprised and wondering if this was a theme? We decide on our meals and waited for service. Another server bought food out to the table next to ours so called our to ask if we could order. Either she didn’t hear me or was already busy, as the lady behind us said it does get busy and to order inside which we did. Food took a while. We were late for the cinema. Saving grace was that food was ok. Nothing special. We had 2 small cocktails, children’s portion of cod bits and fish cake with chips, beans, curry sauce and roll. Food arrived piecemeal with delays between each course arriving which made our meal take longer. Asked to pay straight away so we could get it. It was a Friday and it was busy. Would I return? Maybe. Is there potential? Definitely! Just sort out the lack of menus, slow service, small drink portions. Bill came to £31. It’s not a restaurant, more of a cafe.

They have just started opening for breakfast so I decided to try it this morning. I had the traditional breakfast and can highly recommend it. Great value for money with tea or coffee included. You can't go wrong for £6.50. I'm a regular visitor for fish & chips and the breakfast menu is a great addition. Raj and all the staff are always very welcoming and provide a great service.

Went to try out the new breakfast menu. We had the Traditional breakfast and the Vegetarian breakfast. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options available. Eggs cooked as requested. Tea/coffee included. Will definitely be returning to try the Breakfast Wraps.

Upon purchasing a takeaway meal of fish and chips, I encountered an issue with the quality of the food. Initially, the chips were disappointingly soggy. However, upon requesting a replacement, the server promptly provided a fresh serving of hot chips, which was a commendable gesture. Despite this, the overall experience was marred by the subpar quality of the cooking oil used. It emitted an unpleasant odor, reminiscent of plastic, which raised concerns about the ingredients' quality. This experience has led to a feeling of unwellness, which is distressing. It is my hope that, even if it necessitates a slight increase in price, the establishment will consider sourcing higher-quality ingredients to ensure a more enjoyable and safe dining experience for their patrons.

great food as always however way way way too pushy with this new app they’re trying to push. made my experience really quite uncomfortable and awkward. spoke to another customer about it who said they were told they ‘had to’ download it to put an order through… not cool s&v!

Only time I’ve ever seen a fish and chip shop serve the fish & chips loose and dumped in a bag on top of one another. No container. Just loose in a bag. When I queried this the young girl behind the counter looked surprised and told me that people have to ask if they want a container. She still didn’t offer to sort it out or anything. Fish and chips were nice though just would’ve preferred them not dumped loose in a paper bag.

We used Salt & Vinegar for our Fundraising Quiz. I contacted Raj beforehand to arrange delivery, total orders and cost. Raj and his team were extremely professional and delivered a first class service. We would defiantly use Salt & Vinegar again. Thank you!

Go for the fish as chips stay for the beer

Arrived in Aylesbury with a half hour to grab some dinner before a gig - a chippy- perfect. This is so much more than a chippy! We were greeted with smiles and made welcome, found a table and served by a happy staff. You can see the great community vibe with staff and customers chatting and laughing together. Great food, fab little bar, delicious fish and non greasy chips. Just perfect. Sadly we are not local or I’d be there every Friday evening! Thank you x

Went for a meal in the restaurant with my family and was greeted by friendly staff. The staff were very attentive and all had great attitudes. The fish and chips was perfect and the portion sizes were very generous. Cannot fault anything at all, an amazing fish and chips restaurant!

Changes hands to become a more modern chip shop. Plenty of variety, good service and even has a bar if you need it.

The worst fish, spam fritters and curry sauce we have had from them the chips were really good. Fish dry and small spam fritters dry and tge curry sauce was curry flavoured water. We love this chippy and hope its a one off.

We have had loads of food from salt and vinegar what has happened. The fish is dry the spam fritters are dry the chips are good and the curry sauce is like water. I rated salt and vinegar the best chippy in Aylesbury but very poor.

We were expecting the worst after a really long wait for a Just Eat driver. But the food when it arrived was obviously very fresh. Very clean and really tasty. Portions could have been a little bigger, though the kids meal was generous. The batter on the fish ans sausage was very light sand crisp without beinh greasy. Looking forward to trying the restaurant rather than a take away. Overall really pleased so far.

Slow takeaway service that led me to believe they were completely cooking to order. I heard the microwave ping a few times whilst I was waiting It was only when I got home that I realised what they were doing. They were microwaving my food. I ordered two sausages and chips. The sausages were fine. The chips were barely cooked. Some were raw potato. Yet the chips were hot They microwaved the chips! Disgraceful. Will not be going back

Fish and chips were lovely! Really nice. Unfortunately the mushy peas were very watery and weren't edible.

Lovely gluten-free fish and chips but only on a Wednesday

My wife and I ordered yet another lazy take away fish and chip supper tonight and once again, the food is amazing! Perfectly cooked fish and chips, delivered by a friendly Deliveroo rider Well done team!

Ordered takeaway; quoted 10-15 min wait which would be reasonable on a busy evening. I actually gave them about 20 mins before going in; then had another 20 min wait. Salt & Vinegar used to be fairly quick, but waiting a long time even on a quiet evening is now the norm. Prices have also risen much more than even food price routine inflation, but quality has gone down.

Always go here even though we have moved out of Fairford Leys. Food has spot on and good service.

Great friendly service Lois was very officiant and Raj very helpful when my grandson needed feeding by keeping my son in laws food hot for him.

We had our lunch at Salt and Vinegar this afternoon. The food was of excellent quality, the staff member was attentive and very polite. All in all, a great lunch, well recommended.

If you like eating good quality fish & chips then go to High Tide or Codfather but if you want to try the best, then Salt & Vinegar at Raj’s is the place to go.

We went to eat tonight with family and dogs. We had a great time, the service was great and the food excellent. they also offered us a shot to finish the dinner :) we felt like home, we will come back next time we come from italy 🤩

Having visited Salt & Vinegar for a Saturday lunchtime birthday celebration, Sach and all the team were so friendly and welcoming , service, food, drink and ice cream all superb !! Catered for all in our family of which there was 9 of us and all different generations! Friends , family and I have now visited individually on different occasions and each time are made to feel just as welcome and receive great service even without a birthday to celebrate! Wonderful place to pop by to eat , takeout or just have a drink or ice cream.

Innocently asked for a spring roll and was looked at like I was a psychopath. It wasn't the fact that they didn't sell them, it was how they made me feel like some outcast. Suffice to say I took my business elsewhere. Found a proper chippy (in a new build estate) and got a lesser spotted spring roll from there, no questions asked.

I visited them on a Sunday lunch time and had a pleasant surprise with my family. The service was great and the portions very well served. Very good option in this small village. I will definitely come back when I'm near.

We ate at Salt and Vinegar on a Saturday evening enjoying cocktails and a fish basket and chips. It was like being on holiday, sitting outside with a great atmosphere and good food. Service was wonderful and I loved that our little dog was welcome to the outside seating area too. We will definitely be back!! Highly recommend!!

Would generally have highly recommended Salt n Vinegar, however the last two visits have not been up to scratch. The timing is extremely poor. Today I waited 30 plus minutes for two portions of cheesy chips, 1 peri peri chips, one wrap and a fish cake. I did request a new fish cake as it had been put on a plate next to a sausage. But that new fish cake was still cooked before the chips were sorted. There were NO People waiting, there were no just eat/ Deliveroo drivers/orders. There were members of staff talking, laughing and joking and not doing any work. When I pointed out to the owner I had been waiting for over 30 minutes he used the excuse I’d ordered two things that took the most time, I found this patronising and factually Incorrect, I pointed out to him that his staff were too busy messing about instead of doing their job and that, that was the problem, his response was, “ I’ll sack them then!” Rather than sacking them I would suggest training them! I ran a kitchen with 250 covers each lunch time and timing is crucial. This was poor management of the staff. To top it off the food was not brilliant. Such a shame.

Used to be 5 star, but today the chips tasted like they were cooked in 2 week old oil and the battered sausage was burnt, gravy was like jelly too. Has it been taken over by someone else? Used to be so consistently good

Raj and his staff are really welcoming. The chip shop restaurant and snazzy little drinks bar are really worth a visit. Food is great, atmosphere is pleasant. Even sitting outside under the awnings nestled behind the small hedging is very nice indeed. Thoroughly recommend a meal and drink here. And parking all around is free. I highly ecommend the home delivery service as well. Food always arrives hot and presented well.

Great spot in town. Really lovely restaurant with everything you need....Great food (all the fish is cooked fresh to order, nothing is cooked and kept warm). Lovely bar area and gelato bar and they do an all day breakfast too. But the jewel in this little crown are the manager and staff. They are all really attentive and friendly and just want to make sure you have a great visit ! Would absolutely recommend

I have come here a few times and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. This time around, I went for the all-day breakfast. I was impressed with how accommodating the owner was to my preferences. As I do not eat meat, I request some of the ingredients to be swapped out. This was done without hesitation. The owner was prompt, engaging, and courteous. It's affordable. So if a fish, chips, and draft beer is your thing, check out Salt & Vinegar.

Friendly and welcoming the moment we entered Salt & Vinegar to eat in. Great choice of food and enormous drinks choice. We shared a bottle of wine with our fish and chips, which was delicious. Big thanks to the staff for looking after us so well. We look for forward to returning and a night off cooking! The cod is so fresh, it’s the best we’ve had anywhere.

I really enjoyed visiting this chip shop with my friend. It's great that it also has a bar so you can just pop in for a pint of beer if you like. The staff are all super friendly and very welcoming.

Lovely friendly fish and chips takeaway with added bonus, you can dine in and have a drink too. They also sell yummy traditional ice cream with many flavours in cone or tub. Well done Salt and Vinrgar!
