The best fish and Chips shop in town but it's been closed for a while now

worst service, I was kicked out after paying for drinks

I am amazed that this is still here as my mother worked here over 70 years ago and it still looks exactly the same. The American service men who were based near here used to queue for fish and chips and chat up the young ladies of Buckingham. The food was superb. one of the specialities was rock salmon but not heard of it for a long time

Not sure what has happened but the last two orders have had terrible, hard and dry chips which is ruining what was an excellent takeaway. Will try once more to see if it was just bad luck! Last lot of chips were barely edible.

Well cooked crispy fish chips twice cooked very good . Often cooked to order so expect a few minutes wait but fresh fish is cooked in around 7 minutes ..Hard to beat

Favourite fish and chip place (plaice?). Owners have changed but reassured that quality has not. Have just re-opened as Covid secure (on 15th Sept ) and it's great to have them back.

Excellent fish & chips are served at the Buckingham Fish bar. (Note parking can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, but it is worth it).

Good spot for chips, always a bit careful with condiments so make sure to ask for more. There's only one chair in the shop though, so be mindful of the fact you'll have to wait on your feet

I hadn't visited the place since it changed hands a year or so ago - it had always been very good, with very fresh food and friendly service. Happily, on this latest visit the standards have been maintained and the food just as good. All the fish is freshly cooked and both that and the chips are never greasy. You get lots of chips and a huge piece of fish - which will satisfy the largest appetite! The staff are as friendly as ever and if you are looking for a quick and tasty meal, then this is the place to come! I personally believe that it's the best chip shop in the area. Keep up the good work!

The owners run this fish and chip bar very well. Always very busy which is a good sign. Fish is cooked to order so nice and fresh and chips are always first class and make great chip butties. Highly recommended

I visited on Friday between 6-7pm and it was chaos. Lots of people waiting for their orders. Some people ordered from a lady with a notepad who took your order as you walked in and some ordered and paid at the cashdesk where they also served your food. 8 people people were served before me which took over 30 mins and then when people who arrived after me were served I decided to give up. I only wanted a bag of chips! If you are prepared to wait a very long long time and don’t mind people being served ahead of you then go ahead.

If you like fish n chips, you'll love this place. Always freshly prepared, and often busy with people coming home after work. No complaints at all, and great value.

The best takeaway fish, chips and peas we have had ever. We went last week for sometime because we were desperate, there’s fairly new owners, and it shows. The second time, tonight did not make us change our opinion.

Best chippy for miles around. Staff are always helpful and if you phone ahead for your haddock it's there waiting for you. (Haddock cooked to order). Would recommend. However, it doesn't beat Whitby Fish and Chips

We were told that a fish & chip bar was close by. We had tried pizza the previous evening and felt ripped off for what we got. We tried the fish bar instead the next evening and what a pleasure. The chips and the Haddock were cooked to perfection. It appeared to be the only chippy around town. Thank goodness we walked down as parking can be a problem. Good value for money.

The fish and chips here are perhaps the finest I've ever had. Everything is always cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes are great, I'm not a small man, but I always feel I've more than had my fill after eating from here, plus the prices are very reasonable. Excellent.

Everything is always cooked fresh right before you and the service is very friendly. It's everything a really good Fish and Chip shop should be - the best!

This fish bar was recommended to us, and we were not disappointed. Christmas Eve there was no queue, they closed at 7.30 but we were happy customers.

I have to admit, I'm unsure whether to put four or five stars because the chips where genuinely delicious, I'd say the nicest chip shop I've been to this far inland for a long time. I ordered a non-battered sausage and chips and they were very tasty, cost £2.60 in all and I was served within a minute of ordering (I arrived at half 12 just before the rush of students form the nearby schools and most lunch customers) the couple running the chip shop were also very nice and friendly. The only slight downside, and why this is a four star review and not five, is due to the portion sizes, I felt like most chip shops would have given you slightly more chips, and the sausage was half the size of those that I would normally purchase in Milton Keynes. If you think that you can eat more than most perhaps ordering a large portion would be best (which I will try next time I go myself) but overall a brilliant chip shop rivalling the best tasting chips I've ever had without a doubt.

Being as far away from the coast as it is possible to get in the UK - I first went to this fish bar after seeing Cliff Richards 'Summer Holiday' at the Chandos Cinema in 1965 when you could get the bus from Thornborough, admission to the cinema, fish supper afterwards and the bus home for 2 & 6 pence (12.5 p). One of the great comforts in life to see an institution that has survived the transition from the 20th to the 21st century in such good shape. Really good food. Great people.

Excellent little family run take away fish and chip shop. Always freshly cooked, golden, crunchy batter, lovely fish with no skin, perfectly cooked chips and good sized portions, served with a smile. Never had any greasy, soggy or undercooked, its unusual to find somewhere consistently good.Quite honestly I find it as good as the Magpie in Whitby and I go there most weeks when I visit my elderly mother in Buckingham who is very particular and loves it too.

We think this is the best fast food style takeaway in Buckingham. Friendly staff and a bonus that you can phone through your order in advance so it is freshly cooked when you collect.

They do the best fish and chips around, really good value for money and very tasty.They offer a wide range of food and have nice fast service. It can sometimes get quite busy but they always make your food as fast as possible and its always lovely and hot when it's ready. The perfect Friday night treat!

We have been using this fish bar for years & I can honestly say its crispy battered cod is amazing. My relatives who live on the isle of man have to get the fish and chips here every time they are in the area. Lovely friendly couple run it as well.

My family enjoyed their fish and chip treat from here and the staff were lovely. The fish was very good quality and the batter was nice and crispy. Chips were not greasy at all. Will definitely go back. Only downside is they close at 8pm which may be a bit early for some.

My kids are really fussy and so we have tried many fish and chip places around Buckinghamshire ,Aylesbury, HighWycombe and then we came across this one! Thank you God! Finally a fish and chip shop that isn't greasy, has amazing batter, the chips are superb, no grit and perfectly cooked. The fish is fantastic quality AND the prices are extremely reasonable! Now my kids cheer with joy when I say we're getting fish and chips! And my other half and I get to enjoy it too! Plates are empty kids are happy and fed and all is well with the world! If you want absoloutely amazing fish and chips at a fantastic price then this is the place for you!

Have just finished a very good portion of fish and chips. We didn't think Buckingham had a decent fish shop and have been travelling to Winslow ' s Happy Friars. However, we were told that this one us worth a try. It certainly was, okay the portions are a bit smaller but that is fine as no waste. Really satisfying, good crispy batter, lovely moist fish and tasty chips. We will definitely visit again.

We stayed in Buckingham overnight while travelling back home from holiday. We asked about places to eat and this one was recommended. For two hungry travellers they were superb. If were are in the area again would definately go there again.

The owners are a Chinese Couple who have been running this Chippy for many years. They cook fresh and to order and on a Friday customers are waiting outside the shop as they are always so busy. This has to be a good sign from the local Buckingham customers.The portions are good, the food fresh and hot and the staff are friendly and helpful.
