Great restuarant...authentic.. lovely staff, ordered tapas, food was ok only let down was they didn't provide a finger bowl with the tapas, need to clean the fingers when picking food.. other than that a nice place to eat..

I went with my co-worker today who is a regular, and me with first time attending Salsa. Beautiful service and kind workers. So friendly and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious. We both had a paella, and lots of options for my vegetarian co-worker. There was not a fault at all, the staff were so polite, professional and kind. I even messaged my Portuguese mother-in-law who needs to come visit this place considering how authentically made everything is! So lush!… & on another note I don’t even like rice! BUT the paella made me think different, and reasonable prices. Salsa staff, expect a bigger tip next time! You deserve it xxx Thank you Salsa ❤️🙏 See you soon

We hadn't booked but had a lovely welcome. Menu choices are fantastic for fish, meat, and vegetarians. We had Tapas - Pilchards, prawns, cod croquettes, potato bravas, squid, chicken with chorizo, and a lovely bottle of Albarino wine to wash the tapas down which really matched the tapas. The service from the waitresses was very friendly and at no time did we feel rushed in fact the waitress made a comment about the wine and to relax and continue to enjoy. Very responsible price for food and drinks Next time we are going to try the espetana. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Celebrated a friends birthday here. Staff are really friendly and helpful thanks especially to Bea. Good selection of dishes to choose from. I enjoyed a selection of tapas really enjoyed the skewers and peppers very tasty. Something for everyone. A good time was had.

We came here for my wife’s birthday , we had tapas , small plates prawns in garlic x2,, garlic mushrooms potatos bravas , bread and alio , all lovely and hot -and tasty . The best jug of sangria we have had in a long while , Estella beers nice and cold . came here for my birthday meal with my partner and best friend and the food, service and atmosphere was amazing. i have celiacs disease (gluten allergy) and the waitress took my allergy so seriously but still managed to have a laugh with us as well. i would 100% recommend and can’t wait to attend again! our only regret is not asking the waitress her name to mention her in this review, all i know is that she was wearing a red top and was from Portugal and shared our love for garlic butter! thank you so much to all the staff for making my birthday meal one to remember!

Thank you Salsa for an amazing night for my daughter’s 18th Birthday. Really helpful setting up the table and cake. Service, menu choice, food and atmosphere were fantastic. The live singer had us all up dancing after the meal. Couldn’t have gone better.

Went to Salsa for an evening meal. We always go there and have always had a good experience. We were seated by our normal waitress, we order our drinks and she then informs us that they are no longer selling pasta on the menu - which is my go to food there. So disappointed. Didn’t fancy any of their other food so we left. Not great.

Finding ourselves dogless and childless for the evening, and planning to go to a local pub, I suggested popping out for something to eat first. Friday evening, although I was early, I suspected without a booking we would struggle to find somewhere. However Salsa were able to accommodate. It was happy hour, so we started with some margaritas. It wasn't particularly strong, so my husband requested an additional shot of tequila. The knives and forks at hour table were dirty, but to the staffs credit, when we highlighted it they apologized and immediately got us some clean ones. We opted for Tapas. As a food-grammer, I almost always take photos to share. However, visually these dishes didn't look great. Taste wise, they were OK. But nothing special unfortunately. We had a plate of Spanish cured ham, which I suspect, as the previous review said, was just a supermarket one. The spicy king prawns were nice, but when they came out the sauce was molten hot, as if it had just been blasted in the kitchen. We had bread and alioli, but the bread was just a part baked baguette, which is a little disappointing. The whitebait was a generous portion, but average taste. The boneless pork loins were probably the best dish of the evening- the potatoes it came with were significantly better than the potatoes with the patatas bravas which were bland (frozen I suspect). The lamb chops were tasty but visually very poor. The service was generally good, the ladies very happy, smiley and accommodating, but the food sadly doesn't match up. I will not be in a hurry to return unfortunately.

Bit disappointed with some dishes. The Spanish ham was out of a supermarket pack, the bread was just a cheap baguette, like a part bake one. The fajitas were nice, steak nice and tender. My husband had the chicken and ribs. Leg of chicken very small and would have been better if he was given a steak knife to cut between the ribs which were a bit tough. Sangria was quite nice and calamari good. The waitresses were very good. Just unfortunate about the dishes. Wouldn't go again

Not far away from Southend high Street, 15 minute walk to/from The Cliffs Pavilion. Very welcoming with a great choice of food and beverages. The great staff are very attentive. Well priced to suit all pockets.

Went for dinner tonight with my friend. We’re both management in the hospitality sector, so time off at the same time is very slim. We decided to go to Salsa for our dinner and it was LUSH! Our server Maria (in the red shirt) was just amazing! Such a cutie, so friendly and gave such kind and warm service! Such an amazing person to be the face of a restaurant. Thank-you Maria! Ordered delivery tonight for first timers good arrived hot and was delicious will definitely order again

We found this restaurant by chance and decided to give it a go rather than the chain restaurants available in the same area. The service was very welcoming from the start, felt reassuringly safe with all Covid and hygiene procedures in place. The menu was varied and we struggled to decide what to have, it all sounded lovely! We settled on combo fajitas and a Portuguese Espetada. Both were delicious. The Mexican spicy fries were the best though, would highly recommend those. The tapas and cocktails looked great so would like to try those should we return. Overall a nice meal and very friendly servers, would recommend over other chains if you’re in the area.

Lively restaurant with good mix of people. Varied menu and great food. Staff pleasant and attentive in these tricky covid times, feel For them working so hard having to wear face coverings and the younger clientele can’t offer the same courtesy to them when moving around the restaurant. We booked online after looking at TripAdvisor for something different to eat and read the other positive reviews. Venue was easy to find and we were welcomed into the restaurant.Venue is nice, clean and tables were well spaced. We felt very safe throughout our stay.We started off with cocktails because it was still happy hour. Wife was very happy with her porn star martini and my long island iced tea was spot on.Our order consisted of: vegetable paella, garlic mushrooms, patatas bravas, chorizo in red wine sauce, and chicken skers with cajun dip. Because the paella was fresh we were warned this would take a little longer, so we started with some cheese garlic flatbread to start.All the food was cooked fresh and was amazing. Tasted devine and portion sizes were perfect. Best tapas I have had so far.What topped it up was how the staff treated us and how warm and friendly they all were. They are a real credit to the establishment and helped make this one of the best meals out we have had.Would thoroughly recommend to future diners, especially with the extra 30% off for online booking!

We had some time in the evening in Southend but wanted something different to the normal Italian cuisine which seems to be the only choice left in the town. We had not been into Salsa for a while, looked at the menu which is extensive with Tapas and lots of different meat and fish dishes plus a Paella to share (this is huge). The staff are always friendly and showed us to our seat, all COVID rules being adhered to. We had nachos to start, large portion with a good amount of salsa and guacamole. Then 3 bean rice, cheese burger, fajitas, all cooked really well. The star of the show was the cocktails, from 5-7pm only £5, so Espresso and Pornstar martinis it was. Excellent. Meal for 3 plus cocktails £67. Why not enjoy yourself.

Visited on the last day of the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme (31st Aug) - I have OCD and had been really worried about visiting my first restaurant since March due to Covid. When we arrived, I saw that they were doing bookings only which helped to ensure that they didn’t overfill the restaurant (big reassurance!). All of the staff were wearing face masks and the tables were distanced from each other. Due to my anxiety, I had brought my own cutlery set and straw along but I must admit the cutlery was practically sparkling! The food, as usual, did not disappoint. I’m vegan and usually struggle to find a decent option in a restaurant but Salsa has a brilliant selection of vegan friendly options. I must also add that I saw the staff at the host point throughly wiping down all menus, including each individual page. If you’re looking for a bit of peace of mind in these strange times and don’t want to miss out on the dining experience, I would thoroughly recommend Salsa. Even pre-Covid, the staff have always been incredibly friendly, food to an exceptional standard and just a lovely atmosphere!

Booked a table in advance as I thought they would be busy due to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Good thing we booked as they were very busy. Felt very safe as all the staff were wearing face masks, social distancing was being practised and there were hand sanitizer dispensers around the restaurant. It’s even possible to place your order electronically to reduce contact if you wish. I had the potato skins for starter, chile burrito for mains and their biscuit cake for dessert. I have to say all three courses were absolutely delicious and I was stuffed! Our server Maria was so polite, attentive, friendly, nothing was too much trouble for her and despite how busy it was, we still had a little bit of time for a joke and a laugh.

There is a good variety on the menu, I ordered spaghetti carbonara with a side of Mexican fries and my partner got a pizza. We both enjoyed our meal. The service was brilliant, the two waitresses serving us were very polite and attentive.

Absolutely amazing!! My husband and I have been here a few times. The food has always been outstanding and so have the staff!! There were 16 of us at the anniversary and all said what a lovely restaurant this is. Nothing was an issue for the lovely staff. There is a wide choice on the menu and all starters, mains and desserts were all cooked to perfection!!!

Me and my partner went here for Valentines Day - upon arrivals we quickly got seated to our table and the whole restaurant want Valentines Decorated with roses and candles or every table which I thought was a nice touch. The menu is very dated looking with very garish logos for every beer that was available which I think needs a re-think (see photo attached)The starters and main that we had were soo good and very tasty, we ordered nachos and burritos and the portion sizes were great.Waitresses were very attentive and asked a few times if everything was okay and we needed drinks topped up.Would recommend and go back.

We visited the restaurant the 14/02/20 for Valentine’s Day and I’ve got to say I was so disappointed. Having read all the good reviews before hand, I don’t understand where they have come from. The food:I’ve given this restaurant a 1 star as we did enjoy one dish, the starter which was calamari. We ordered 4 main dishes (tapas) between 2 of us. They were awful. Garlic mushrooms which contained no garlic, ribs which were just fat on bone, chicken and chorizo which consisted of dry cubes of chicken and hard rubbery chorizo and the worst one of all, the potatoes croquettes. They were clearly re fried as you could taste the disgusting oil, to the point it made me gag!! No I wouldn’t eat here ever again. Drinks: The drinks were ok, very strong and bitter but drinkable. One problem is the bar man (young man dark hair) repeatedly licked his fingers after making cocktails, obviously licking the alcohol off his hands but then handling fruit garnishes for the glasses!!! That is disgusting! Service: Service was avaerage, took a while to be served when we first sat down but was ok, the waitress was very polite. She didn’t even question why we had left so much food. She just took it and walked off. Now I know why the place was half empty when we walked in! By all means try this place for yourself, but you might be disappointed like we was.

We had paella and it took some time to be cooked but we were warned it will be about 20 mins for it to be cooked. Well worth the wait. The only thing that we found wrong with the place was it was very noisy as there was a big party of adults and kids of about 30. But this was a Saturday night.and the place was full. So if we were to go back we would pick a week day night. Staff were very good and polite.

First time here for me, to celebrate my sister in laws 50th birthday . Upon arrival I was first to arrive out of the 15 booked. I was showed to the table . I ordered a drink and within minutes it arrived. I was also able to pay for my drink there and then at the table. I continued doing this during the evening . Staff very helpful and polite, and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble.. Food was lovely, hot and fresh. Portion size was just enough for me so no waste. I only had a main but the starters did look lovely tho.. We had birthday cake for dessert, staff gave us plates and forks. We didn’t get to sample salsas dessert menu but I will definitely be returning so next time I might go all out and enjoy 3 courses... Thank you for a lovely evening ..

Work away from home 5 days a week & avoiding carbs as a result.Was on my way to Ask Italian (I know, desperate times) & happened across this tapas bar literally across the road. Had an offer of 3 for 2 on & I ordered Piri Piri Prawns ( Not sure if tjese were authentic Spanish cuisine) but they were delicious. Then had the lamb skewers which were exceptional & the barbecued ribs where tje meet fell off the bone. Avcompanied this with a large glass of Reguengos Tinto at 14.5% for £5.95. Waitress kindly bought me a finger bowl without having to be asked & free glass of tapwater for spicy prawns. So happy I came here & will definitely return next time I'm in Southend ( probably another 60 years but now I hope not.) Staff charming to boot. Simply lovely meal.
