Alebro in Southend-on-Sea

We had a fantastic meal here last summer everyone enjoyed their food it was full of flavour especially steaks and reasonably priced! Staff were lovely, restaurant is decorated nicely and is comfortable, definitely hope to return soon!

Amazing trip to Alebro tonight, food was spectacular. A definite must visit if your dining in Leigh.

We had prawn cocktails and roast sirloin of beef and all the trimmings the meal was perfect service was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Went here for for Sunday lunch based on the reviews and wasn't disappointed. We moved to Benfleet 4 years ago and have been trying the many restaurants in and around the area for both lunch and evening meals and many have fallen short of their excellent reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed the starters, roast and sweet and will definitely be returning.

Visiting from London, I took my children and elderly mother here for Sunday lunch in early January. Very friendly service with the perfect balance of attention and laissez faire. Very comfortable decor. The food was excellent - the roast beef delicious and tender, the roast potatoes perfect. My children had roast chicken with the most delicious stuffing. I highly recommend it, and intend to go back in the evening during the next visit to my mother. It is not cheap, and is comparable to London prices but with food and service of this quality there can be no complaint about that.

Our first visit to Alebro last night. All 6 of us agreed that the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Will certainly be returning.

Six of us booked our Christmas get together at Alebro last night. Good selection on the menu men very happy that the Scotch egg starter was still on menu they loved them. I had traditional prawn cocktail but very tasty and prawns succulent. 2 had the lamb rump tasty hubby had the pork with prawns yummy and friend had short rib delicious. All food presented nicely and side of veggies yummy too. Service certainly not over friendly but very efficient. Overall very good restaurant clean cosy decor.Thank you Alebro.

We were celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday. We always like the look of the Alebro as we walk past and it did not disappoint. Very warm and inviting with little lights making a pretty environment. The service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. The menu looked delicious, and l could have had several dishes ( perhaps a tasting evening could be arranged?) l settled for slow cooked beef and my husband had fish. Our starters were the confit duck wonton as nd the chicken strips. Nicely presented and tasty. We finished with a nice little cheese board, though really also wanted a taste of everything else on the menu! Everything was very tasty and nicely presented. Like a warm hug, Alebro really was a lovely evening and thoroughly recommend. I also thought it was great value, with two starters, two mains, a shared cheeseboard, a bottle of wine and coffee and soft drinks coming way under £100, not common these days!

Such a lovely restaurant, all the staff are really friendly and very helpful. Mine had to be dairy free and gluten free, they were so helpful with sorting out my meal. The food is so delicious, we all had variety of food. The mushrooms were gorgeous and the pâté was very tasty. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were succulent, the beef you could pull off the bone. The lamb rump was delicious, also was the chicken pie. The desserts were delicious and the presentation of all of the food was wonderful. Thank you for a lovely evening of food and wine. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back soon.

We had the nicest evening last night. Four of us had dinner at Alebro. The food was just fantastic. We had the steak and chips and the chips were the best we’ve had for years. Puddings were lovely. We all ate far too much as we just didn’t want to leave any! It was busy for a Thursday night and had a really friendly atmosphere. A special place for dinner.

Thought we’d try this restaurant as we’ve driven by many times. Went back today for second Sunday lunch with family and was not disappointed. Great attentive service and food was lovely. Especially recommend the scotch egg starter and roast beef & all the trimmings 😋

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff and the most delicious Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Fresh vegetables and cauliflower cheese were cooked perfectly. A bottle of Tempranillo completed an enjoyable experience. We come here regularly and we have never been disappointed. It’s consistently very good

We had a lovely lunch today my wife had sirloin of beef and I had shoulder of Lamb with all the trimmings, We had prawn cocktail for starters and they were yummy, All the food was well cooked and tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient. It was a very nice restaurant and we would go back again and we fully recommend this place.

We had a truly delicious Meal with excellent friendly service and a nice relaxed unhurried atmosphere. After we finished eating we spent an hour sitting at the bar enjoying an after-dinner glass of wine. A super restaurant really worth visiting. It will now be one of our regular places to go now. EXCELLENT!

I went with 7 others for a boys only annual dinner. As always the food and service was excellent. The main course of Lamb Rump was particularily good. Wednesday is bring your own wine night. We will return.

Service and food excellent. We arrived expecting a Christmas Dinner meal. But there was a mix up with our booking.So we ate from the 3course lunch menue.There could have been a little food on the plate. But overall it was a very enjoyable lunch.

We arrived and were greeted by a member of staff, offered a choice of tables and asked if we would like to order any drinks. The rest of our party arrived and we ordered our food, my rump of lamb was excellent as was the service. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful so much so that no one had room for dessert. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. W3 will be returning soon.

Booked for a Saturday night arrived on time we were not greeted by anyone had to walk over to a member of staff!

We got he impression that this place is a bit of a "old pals" act. The owner was nice enough but he spent too much time outside the front of the restaurant drinking wine and smoking. He stank of cigarettes when he came to our table and we were not surprised. The food was fine, if a little on the expensive side for what it actually is. It's not fine dining, it's not up market bistro, it's kind of home cooking that is quite well done.

I have to admit this restaurant has been over looked by myself and my partner for a few years (I have no idea why). We read the menu and it was the first time in ages that we struggled to decide because it was all so good!

This was a Family and friends gathering to celebrate a silver wedding,our hosts had an informal garden party to gather all the guests. Most of us walked to the venue and were able to continue conversations, there was no seating plan which prevented any later squabbles the staff greeted us very warmly ascertained who was eating what from a prepared menu and where they were sitting,After a short while the starters were served my partner had garlic mushrooms which were excellent, mine was prawn cocktail the like of which I have not tasted for years it was delicious with nice portion of smoked Salmon to add a little extra. The main course was Duck breast for me and Lamb for my partner both of which were tender, tasty and nice sized portions.

Nice table and attentive staff including the owner of the establishment. Short menu and a special board placed on the table and a nice wine list to choose from, subtle background music so you don’t have to raise your voice to be heard across the table.

Very good service, food and presentation, nice surroundings, a little expensive but well worth it for special occasions.

Dined at Alebro for dinner on Saturday evening. Have been there several times now and always receive great service, nicely chilled white wines and excellent food. Saturday was no exception. Friendly and welcoming management and staff, superb food, nice surroundings and a good choice of background music make for a great meal out.

Delicious and varied food served in a delightful restaurant by extremely attentive and courteous staff. And at a reasonable price bearing in mind the high quality. We shall return on a regular basis.

Ate here as part of our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebrations. Really nice staff and the food was exceptional. Couldn’t afford to go here too often as my pension wouldn’t run to it, still, it was a fabulous meal.

I visited this restaurant with my partner on Saturday evening very good food, nice atmosphere and staff very welcoming and attentive a lovely blonde waitress helped me with my food order when I was tossing between dishes and she wasn’t wrong the filet mignon was outstanding. Great evening all round and will definitely be visiting again.

First time back to this restaurant in sometime. Two couples for Sunday Lunch. Lovely selection of Roasts, interesting selection of Starters to chose from. I had the Scallops; good choice.

Had a meal here last night it was the the first time we’ve ever been the food was really nice. Our starters were delicious and the mains too although my partner found the blue cheese on his steak very overpowering but still enjoyed it. My slow cooked pork was really nice. Our only negative was not being made to feel very welcome by the staff. It’s a shame as this let down an otherwise pleasant meal.

Good choice of dishes and the food quality was excellent. With only two/three other tables dining and old decor it did make for a bit of a under whelming atmosphere but they must have very good chefs as the food was mouth watering. The main gripe is that the two very relaxed staff members weren’t very attentive, didn’t seem to particularly want to be there and had to be prompted for all orders.

I took my wife here for her birthday. The decor is quite modern and very pleasant. We had a table near the back which was ideal for us. The food is I would guess European.

Have visited this amazing restaurant twice now, once on a Friday and once on a Saturday evening. Warm welcome from the staff and the food is absolutely amazing. On our second visit, we both had the scallops to start and their special of fillet mignon with daulphinoise potatoes with a side order of vegetables. Both were incredible... so tasty and beautifully presented. No room for dessert although they looked really good. Can’t wait to go back again, but booking advisable as they get really busy! My wife and I were looking for a place to lunch without having made a reservation. My wife had previously dined at Alebro, so we successfully tried there. We were not disappointed, friendly welcome, nice staff and most importantly good food. An enjoyable meal was had by both of us.

We went there for a birthday treat, we’ve been a few times now and never been disappointed with food or the friendly staff, but you need to book well in advance if it’s a weekend visit

Came for lunch with some friends as it was my birthday. We hadn’t booked but this was no problem and we were warmly welcomed.

We have visited Alebro three times now so my view is quite balanced. The menu is good, the food is well portioned and executed very competently. Good sourcing of ingredients and it is important to add that the chef does the basics really well - which many local chefs cannot. Alebro is a nice, family-owned restaurant - quiet, well decorated and tasteful. If I have any complaints or suggestions for improvement, it is just the atmosphere itself which is underwhelming. Waiting staff are also important as they are the gateway to the owners and chef - in this case, I think they could have been more welcoming, more knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients - and most importantly, they could have made us feel more special, which costs nothing. Overall Alebro is good & competent. I would, of course, go back and likely will. But it could be so much better with more engaging and enthusiastic waiting staff who seem to care more about the diner's experience - this is the only aspect holding them back.

Visited Alebro on a Saturday evening after booking in advance (and paying £10 per head deposit). It was pretty empty when we first arrived but was completely full by the time we were having starters.

Unbelievable! Not only is the food outstanding but the service blew me away. After juggling times to fit us in for Mother’s Day this restaurant made my Mother’s Day! The food was out of this world, we weren’t rushed - despite it being Mother’s Day and an obvious need for tables. The staff couldn’t help more and even my fussy 3 year old ate all her dinner. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will 100% be returning! You made my Mother’s Day!

Went on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was really busy with several special birthday celebrations going on. Staff were superb, we didn't feel rushed at all and the diversity of the menu was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we will definitely be going again.

Booked this for my husbands 70th Birthday meal with family & friends from initial contact till the time we left the restaurant it was faultless everyone commenting how good the food was & how accommodating the staff were.

My wife and I visited Alebro restaurant for Valentines Day meal. It was three course meal, and very nice. We both had the prawns cocktail for starters, followed by the duck for my wife and the beef medallions for myself. Beef melted in your mouth and had you wishing for more. Very nice. We followed this up with dessert. My wife has the strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake, and I had the sticky toffee pudding. Both were nice. This was ended with a glass of champagne each, except I don't drink champagne so I had orange juice instead. In all it was a lovely evening and we will certainly be returning for another date night sometime in the future.

Visited this restaurant a few days ago with a group of friends. I didn’t know it was there until a friend suggested we should try it. We were very pleasantly surprised, the staff where very welcoming and pleasant. The food was extremely good and not at all over priced. There is a set menu for two courses at under £20 which I thought was very good. I will definitely return again and would recommend to other friends.

We wanted somewhere nice for our 28th anniversary. Looking on here last min 12/2/19 a choice of 3 eateries Alebro got the thumbs up. A quick call to see if there was room, Arriving just before 7pm one couple were coming towards the end of there meal probably regular users. We chose our table jokingly said in the corner naughty table studied the wine list decided on The Merlot Just under £20 a reasonable price for this wine. The main menu there are enough choices even if you prefer a veggie option. Starters arrived extremely well presented the garnish on top had me mystified Portions were a good size..Moving on to the mains the boss went for a seafood risotto while I had steak . Both arrived once again presentation A1 Still mystified by the garnish. both of us unable to clear our plates. Being tempted sometime later we decided on Strawberry fields white chocolate cheese cake. This was the perfect item to complete our meal. I ask a staff member just what the garnish was, We were very surprised to find out just what it was. Not to spoil it I'm not going to tell you what it was, Go and visit to find out for yourself !

A great dinner with friends taking advantage of BYO wine on Wednesday nights. Despite a very good fixed price menu at £18.99, we all chose to select other dishes. At £30 per head including the tip was good value.

a lovely restaurant , 1 of my favourites at the mo , good menu lovely fresh ingredients great cheese cake. Amstel ( my favourite ) and Peroni on draught ;) What more would you want , also caters for larger parties enjoy ;)

Had dinner here with 12 of my girlfriends, we were in the rear conservatory area so we had some privacy and could truly enjoy ourselves without interrupting the other guests. Was lovely to have our own area. The food was fabulous, great value and everyone had an amazing time. They accommodated our request for cocktails despite not usually having them and also were happy to serve our food when it suited us. Couldnt do enough for us will definately book again. Thank you x

I hadn’t been to the restaurant before and as I had organised the evening I was a bit worried. I shouldn’t of been, the restaurant was extremely professional in all aspects. The welcome, atmosphere and food were all faultless. All five of us had fantastic meals and there was a lot of food envy as we looked at each other’s plates. The service was friendly and attentive without ever being too much. Also they were able to talk about the food on the menu and make great recommendations. Nothing was too much hassle and I cannot wait to go back.

10 of us had a superb lunch there when the restaurant we thought we had booked was closed. They coped wonderfully & the meals were faultless.

We visited as a four and immediately loved the atmosphere and the welcome upon arriving. Lovely atmosphere and lovely smell of fresh food. Turkey and cranberry scotch eggs were top notch , gorgeous. Between us we tried sirloin, sea bream and lamb shank. All excellent. Would love to visit again and sit at the bar for wine and snacks.

I had a lunch with ex. city friends. The menu was the Christmas menu, small, but very good. My choice was Galvalax followed by Steak, others had a more seasonal meal of Pate and Turkey. There were no complaints. It was a pity there were only two other diners on the day.

Friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere. The meals are freshly prepared so recommend you are prepared to wait a little but the wait is worth the result!! Our party had a variety of meals from the menu and all were full of flavour and well presented.

Had a totally superb night the 3 courses we had were all excellent, the service was great all in all a wonderful night

The jury is out for me, not sure about returning. The service was very hit and miss, young staff were tied up in conversation with themselves not paying enough attention to realise they should be keeping an eye the the customers needs. The starters were both fab, though neither of us enjoyed the main. We both had the same dish the special of the day thinking if it's the special and braised all day then that's the one to head for. It was fatty, maybe our problem not theirs, not all people are like us and hate fat and that's the reason along with the lack of service that the jury is still out. Hmm, I'll give a while before returning.

Just returned home from a very nice evening in your restaurant. A good night from entering to leaving, service good, food good and drinks good. Just a note to say that you won’t go home hungry from here. If anything the portion sizes could be halved and I imagine most people would still be satisfied. I would recommend waiting a good 45 minutes before attempting a dessert, too good to miss out on. Thank you to all at Alebro for a lovely evening.

This is one of my favourite places to eat at the moment. Would highly recommend the Scotch egg to start and the Lamb (Main) is to die for.

Tried to telephone to make a booking, the phone just keeps going to answerphone even if the restaurant is open. Then spotted an option to book online, made my booking and received an email almost immediately saying 'Booking Confirmed'.

We were meeting up with some friends for a late Sunday lunch before we were going to a show in Southend. The restaurant is quite small the front area has a bar on the left hand side and there is another dining area in the back.The restaurant was remarkably busy for so late in the afternoon which is a reflection of the quality and amount of the food.The Sunday menu was a fixed price menu depending on the number of courses with 4 or 5 options per course After a pre lunch drink and some bread we ordered our starters. 2 of us chose the chicken liver pate which was served in a ramekin with 2 pieces of toasted crusty bread and a salad. My wife chose the prawn cocktail whilst our other guest chose the baked goats cheese. All the portions were more than generous and were all very good. For our mains courses 3 of us chose the pork belly and one the roast lamb. All the dishes were served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli. The roast lamb and 2 portions of the pork belly were excellent. Unfortunately my portion of the pork belly was mainly fat and was inedible. However as soon as this was pointed out the dish was immediately taken away, fulsome apologies and shortly thereafter a new plate arrived with some lovely well cooked pork belly. Again the portion sizes were more than generous so we skipped dessert though 3 of us had a cappuccino. The wine list is quite small about 6 each of red and whites. We chose the Argentinian Malbec and the Chilean Sauvignon both around £20 which were very good. The service throughout was very good, professional, friendly and we were not rushed at all and the way they handled the problem with the pork belly was excellent. A meal that all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed and excellent value for money

First time visit to Alebro and was very impressed with it. Nice ambience and decor and attentive, but not intrusive staff. Service was very good throughout and the food was well-cooked, well-presented and of high quality. I had the filet mignon which was meltingly tender and came with a delicate and not overpowering blue cheese sauce and I would recommend this. Will definitely be back again and the only recommendation I would make is that a cheese board would be a nice addition to the menu for those of us without a sweet tooth,

The menu is varied and we eat there quite a lot. Never had a bad meal. The food is delicious and if you go for lunch there set meals are very reasonable. The staff are efficient and the owners very friendly. Great place to go for lunch or dinner

I have given Alebro five out of five stars and this rating is against the things that matter in a restaurant, that is the food, the service and the wine. The food was excellent the service was attentive without being overbearing and the wine was superb. Alebro is on the London road about a fifteen minute walk from Leigh on Sea station,Alebro is well worth the short walk from the broadway or old Leigh but I would recommend that you book, Our lunch was so good we will be visiting again very soon

Came here for my birthday meal. Have never been before but heard good things. Food was so lovely - they had run out of the goats cheese tart so I had the kings prawns instead. They were beautiful. So much flavour! I had the lamp rump for main, again lovely. My partner really enjoyed his food too. We came on a Tuesday - not too busy but had a wonderful time and will be back again soon!

Our children had booked this restaurant for my wife and I to celebrate our Golden Wedding, we did not want any fuss just a pleasant meal with our family.

I live around two minutes from this restaurant, having tried virtually all of the overpriced and pretentious offerings within Leigh I am a little annoyed with myself that I hadn't given Alebro a go before now.
