Disappointing start to the day. Was recommended by a local that Sally's was a good place for bacon and sausage sandwiches, how wrong were they. Dont visit here unless you are after burnt or microwave reheated sausages that were rubbery . Also if hygiene standards are low... sandwiches made with dirty fingers and without gloves then here is the place for you. However we will never make this mistake again. All in all very disappointed!

Whilst staying in a cute spot nearby, my partner and myself decided to check out the local area for breakfast. Hungry and hungover, we couldn’t wait for a cooked breakfast. Our eagerness quickly turned to disappointment when we checked out Sally’s menu. A mere bacon or sausage bun, not even an egg to go with it! Being ravenous we stayed, hoping for a decent portion to compensate for the limited menu. When our breakfast rolls arrived they were tiny, teeny weeny. We left hungrier than we arrived, hangry infact. Very disappointed!

We arrived without warning (please do not follow in our footsteps) and ordered the afternoon tea but despite that they did their best to accommodate on the short notice, and they were excellent, food was really nice I can only imagine it would have been better if we had given notice, the staff were wonderfully chatty and atmosphere was great, with wonderful paintings that you can purchase, I really can't recommend this place enough, big love from Swindon

We arrived early to be sure of getting a table, as on this occasion we had not booked in advance. There are also a couple of tables available outside at the front. As always, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The menu is extensive and the quality of food is always exceptional. Scones (large selection of flavours) are baked freshly on the premises every day. There is a very good selection of delicious homemade cakes too.....particularly the lemon drizzle cake (which I only discovered today is the recipe of Si King aka Hairy Biker). The homemade sausage roll is also another delight. Their afternoon tea is excellent value and during Covid we had many takeaway afternoon teas, to help support the business through this difficult time. They also offer a takeaway service.

A very cosy and sweet Tearoom that serves great lunch/breakfast food. The food is definitely worth the price (it's all home-made), and all of the staff were exceptionally friendly both of the times we visted. It was also great to see that the tearoom was LGBT-friendly, and the entire party felt very welcomed and right at home. All of us were absolutely in love with it. Despite the indoor dining area being a bit compact the staff managed to accomodate our party of 6 easily, and serve us quickly, on two occasions. Can't recommend this place enough.

Found this little gem by chance as I had arranged to meet a work colleague for a quick catch up on the A69. when I arrived the place was mobbed with happy chatty customers, But the staff quickly cleared me a table and helped me select a lovely home made spicy tomato soup, I also had one of their own sausage rolls that they warmed up for me, My workmate joined me and had a lovely traybake and piping hot earl grey tea. The service was fast and the staff were really friendly and chatty. Prices were very reasonable, The choice of bakery products is extensive. I will be back. 👍

Great service with a little treat for our dog too. So much better than manic service station, although this is a popular little place and can get busy. Really nice cafe in a good spot along the A69. Friendly staff, great food and it's a nice place to sit and relax away from the hairiness of the major trunk road outside. Pro tip: it gets busy at lunchtimes as it also functions as a takeaway sandwich shop so all the staff can be flat out doing that which means that table service can be slightly compromised until it quietens down a little bit. Pro tip 2: no fried products, in my case an egg to go with the sausage and bacon sandwich. I've come across this before in some other places, but don't know the reason for it. I guess there are some regulations behind it. It's not a bother at all - just something to be aware of...

I visited here mid-week. I have been before. There is dedicated parking, but not much and it gets full very quickly. I'm not sure where else you could park if it's full, but it is in the middle of the village so one of the surrounding streets would be fine, I imagine. You can eat in, but I've done this before and the tables are very crammed together and claustrophobic and the tables themselves aren't really big enough to get everything on comfortably so I don't eat in there, preferring to take out. Also, the take out queue is very long in busy parts of the day and this again makes the place feel too loud and cramped to eat in. This isn't their fault unless they moved to bigger premises so just my personal preference. The scones here are delicious and I always get at least a couple when I go. Absolutely no complaints about those. Fabulous. I also bought a couple of bits of sponge cake (one chocolate, one coffee) as they looked lovely and I've never tried those before from here. Flavour wise, these were both very nice. But they were so stale! I went in the morning and there was so much already gone of each cake I imagine they were from the previous day. These were a disappointment to me but it wouldn't stop me buying cake again from there as I would just make sure I ordered a slice of a new, uncut cake. I tried a piece of their mars bar cake, which was also stale and the crispies had started to go soft and stale at the edges. Again, the taste was nice so if I got a fresh piece next time, I'd happily order it again. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I asked them "which cakes are fresh today please?" and I would choose from that selection. There is a toilet just over the café area. It's small, but does the job. However, when I used it on this visit the smell was AWFUL. It could be that a customer had been in just before me for a 'number 2'. But it smelled more of drains or eggs or something to me and was really strong. Not nice. What I don't like about here though is the service. The staff are SO rude. Especially an older, larger woman who I THINK is the owner. I apologise if she isn't. There just doesn't seem to be any customer service here at all and they, and that woman in particular, is incredibly abrupt and short with people. I understand not everyone is a people person. And I know first hand how irritating customers can be. But if this isn't your forte, work in a different environment. Or work in the back kitchen instead. It's a tough one to review because the food itself is lovely but the staff are the complete opposite. The food is so good that it doesn't stop me going back. But there are occasions where I genuinely am on the verge of calling them out on the way they speak to me and to other customers. If it was on food alone, top marks. Service alone, bottom marks. So I've gone for a low 4* as 3* is just a bit too low for such amazing scones!

We stopped off here on the long drive from Hampshire to Edinburgh and were not disappointed. Friendly service, scrummy cakes and toys to keep the kids amused. Lovely village pub and very well organised for busy lunch times. I had the Welly Warmer special pie which was excellent. Service was super speedy (we hardly had to wait for our food to arrive) and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating to us and the other guests. I did have difficulty trying to call to book in as the phone wasn't answered whenever I tried. I had also seen it was dog friendly online and had tried to confirm this via phone but couldn't get through. On arrival a sign on the door stated dogs were not allowed inside (but were in the beer garden) which was a little disappointing as it did seem to be dog friendly. That was my only niggle and I would happily return as the staff and food more than made up for it.
