Been loyal customers for years, always eating in or ordering from this restaurant. The last few times we have ordered the wait time has been ridiculous - most recently we waited 2 hours for our takeaway and when we phoned there was no apology and they didn't care. When it finally arrived we asked the driver was it a particularly busy night and he said no! This has happened quite a few times recently and the lack of customer service/care for loyal customers now means we will order elsewhere.

The food was just ok but this place needs a tidy up. They have white doors which look like they need a good clean or a lick of paint. Going upstairs to the loo, the doors are all filthy and the toilet needs modernising. It was a bit cold downstairs and the radiator next to us was switched off. Sadly for these reasons, I will not return. The Thai red wine was nice.

First time I have been to this Thai restaurant and I was most disappointed. The service was appallingly slow, one waitress barely knew the menu and was happy to be on her phone most of the time, while the other waitress ran around doing all the work. My stomach started to feel bloated when I had almost finished my starter, and I could not eat more than a third of my mains; which is very unlike me, as I love my food and hadn’t eaten anything since lunch at 12:30. When we had finished our mains I went to use the toilet, which I wish I hadn’t; they were flithy dirty, the hand dryer didn’t work, and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been decorated in the last 10years. I came back to the table to find the plates still there. I wasn’t feeling very well at all by this point, so I waved the waitress over to clear the plates and get us the bill. She cleared half the plates, and after some time had passed we decided to pay at the desk upstairs. I really wasn’t feeling well now and couldn’t wait to get out of there. I managed to get home with 10mins to spare before needing to rush to the toilet. The Tempura Prawns I had for Starters had given me food poisoning. I spent the rest of the evening and next morning emptying the contents of my stomach and have never felt so rough.

We had a quick meal here on the way to a party and it didn't disappoint. The starters of Salt and Pepper Squid and Thai fish cakes were absolutely delicious and the Tom Kha soup was devine. I also had the Jungle curry, which was fiercely hot, but full of the most complex flavours. It was incredible. This place is a must for delicious Thai food. :-)

Sala Thai is definitely our favourite Thai restaurant nearby! When there isn’t a pandemic we’d usually dine there every month, however recently we have been ordering food from them for takeaway and we have been just as satisfied! Fantastic flavoursome, piping hot food ready to collect within 10 minutes of calling them up! All of the staff I’ve dealt with are always friendly and efficient, this place is faultless and has been ever since we started dining at Sala 5 years ago!

Am usually quite particular about Thai food, but was so pleased with the food from Sala Thai! On time delivery and they had taken a lot of trouble to ensure crispy things remained crisp (we ordered the spring rolls and crispy battered fish). 100% recommend the spring rolls and tamarind duck - absolutely gorgeous - and the panang curry with kaffir leaves tasted really authentic (although NB: the panang curry might be too spicy for some people - not us though!). Couldn't fault, and will be returning for take-away very soon! Slightly pricey overall for a takeaway, but personally thought it was worth it, as was restaurant quality.

At last I got the chance to eat in the Sala Thai after many recommendations from friends & customers and I have got to say their recommendations were spot on. When you walk in it’s like walking in to a front room, we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who checked our reservation and showed us down the spiral staircase to the seating area. We were made to feel welcome by the staff downstairs, we ordered drinks and given time to browse the menu while before ordering. Crispy squid for starter and the Pad Prik Khing for main with sticky rice for me, Satay Gai & Pad Med Mamuang for my daughter, Tempura vegetables & Tofu green curry and another squid and Pad Thai for the others in our party. The portions are big, the squid was well cooked and was delicious, my main of Chicken Pad Prik Khing was also well cooked and all I can say is there wasn’t a grain of rice or drop of sauce left on my plate if I wasn’t so full I would of happily eaten it all again. The pad Thai for my friend was big enough for 2 people so the waiters put the rest in a container for us to take home. This was by far and away the best Thai meal I have eaten, the restaurant was clean, the staff very friendly, polite and attentive and for 7pm on a Friday night very busy. I would not hesitate to a) come back again and b) recommend it to all my friends and family

The new young waitresses have little clue as to what they are doing and we were ignored for quite a while when we walked in. People coming in after us were being looked after better and were given the normal free prawn crackers by the experienced staff. We had to ask for ours. Also the whole place had a not very nice smell to it. Possibly damp as there was evidence of damp and flaking paint on the walls. This gave the place little ambience so will have to consider elsewhere in the future.

Waited a further hour for "warm" main courses, one of which was wrong and again arrived all at different times. Waitress tried to convince us that a sweet and sour dish was correct when we ordered a dish with red wine sauce. I have eaten Thai food in Thailand, London, USA, Hawaii, Vietnam, but never before have I had such an awful meal.We have just thrown away £60 of takeaway food which was inedible. No.42, the duck dish with tamarind was tasteless, seemingly boiled duck that had no trace of tamarind (or flavour) and was swimming in rancid greasy fat.The three 'different' Thai salad dishes consisted of vast quantities of thickly cut onion with celery !?! cherry tomatoes, a bit of grated carrot, some watery chilli sauce and prawns/beef/mixed seafood. All identical apart from the protein content. The Pad Thai noodles had no beansprouts or peanuts.None of the dishes contained either fish sauce, lemon grass, coriander, etc, etc, etc.Definitely THE worst food I have experienced in many years.

We were in town to play a concert, so just wanted a bite to eat after playing. We walked along the High Street, saw the restaurant and thought Thai would be a good choice. This was at 6pm on a Sunday, so we expected it to be quiet. Upstairs was one male staff/owner who gave us a friendly, smiley welcome and beckoned us downstairs. As the place was empty at this point, he let us choose a table, mentioning that certain tables would have a large party at them, so we could choose a quieter corner if we wanted. I must restate that this chap was very friendly and warm. As the place filled up (I guess it seats about 25 when full), he was fully on top of things being efficient and cheerful with everyone. He really added to the atmosphere and enjoyment. The menu is extensive with a 'traditional' array of curries, noodle, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. As I ordered a vegetarian starter, he asked if I was in fact vegetarian and noted that on his pad. This made me think that any other dietary requirements (gluten-free, dairy-free) would be taken seriously here.I ordered the vegetarian hot and sour soup to start and it was delicious. The heat was just right, not too much that it killed the flavour. The broth was beautifully seasoned and there were plenty of mushrooms. The portion size was generous, but I still ended up supping the last bits from the bowl, as I couldn't get it all out with the spoon :-)Main course was vegetable green curry, which I had with jasmine rice. Again, generous portion size and great flavour. This curry was different to a lot of other Thai curries I've had in that there was a more pronounced sweetness from the palm sugar. I actually liked this, even though it was a bit of a shock at first taste. The heat was good, although for my taste could have been a wee bit hotter. It was stuffed with vegetables; broccoli, peppers, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and green beans. There was also a generous amount of tofu. After polishing all this off, I was nicely full. There's a good wine list, as well as Asian beers (Chang and Tiger). We all opted for jasmine tea, which was tasty and plentiful. After the meal, none of us felt like troubling the dessert menu.It all came to about £15 a head for two courses and drinks. A great, tasty meal in nice surroundings, with excellent friendly service. Some other reviews have suggested that the decor is a bit tired and, yes, it's a bit dated but everything looks clean. We'd certainly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back when we play again in July.

Our first visit and it won't be our last. The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly. It's a very small place so would advise to book.

My boyfriend and I eat here once every few months. The food is incredible, good value and the atmosphere and staff make the visit even better. Had a takeaway from here for the first time this weekend and the food was still well presented and exactly as it tastes in the restaurant. My favourite restaurant in Ware by a long way. Definitely recommend!

Me and my husband booked a table here to try their food as friends had recommended this restaurant . The place does look like it could do with a lick of paint and do with up dating the decor , but clean and friendly . The restaurant was busy with a young waitress who was very helpful when asked questions about the food . We started with the mixed platter which had fish cakes and spring rolls and chicken satay, they came with dipping sauce , very tasty . The main course came , we did have to wait a little while , the food in the main course was very good from rice and noodles , stir fried beef and a red curry , some of the dishes could have been warmer , did let it down a little . Overall would go again .

Been here a few times, and every time is the same - great, friendly service, fantastic food and reasonably priced food! One thing I love about this place is that you can tell from the moment you walk in that it's a family business! It's not a posh restaurant, it's simply cute and cosy, with no more than ten tables for paying customers! The flavours of the food were out of this world, especially the crab fish cakes which I had as a starter! The Red Thai Curry was lovely but it was a little on the watery side, I find it's a little thicker at Old Siam! Nevertheless, a great meal, and I shall be going back!

Eaten in sala thai several times and regularly have takeaway from here. It never disappoints. Menu is very reasonably priced especially in comparison to thai restaurants in Hertford.Restaurant in the cellar is nice and has a cosy atmosphere but could maybe do with a little renovation but definitely doesn't put me off!

We were recommended this restaurant by the receptionist at the hotel we were staying at and also the taxi driver. It is a small restaurant, close to many bars, and we were greeted with a warm welcome on a Saturday night without a booking. We opted for the vegetarian set menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a nice mix of tempura vegetables in the starter, followed by four varied main courses (a green curry, pad thai, tofu with cashew nuts and stir fry vegetables). All were very tasty and nice sized portions. We thought this restaurant was a good find and seemed to be popular with locals, many of whom seemed to be regular customers engaging in conversations with the staff.

My wife (who is Thai) and I went to Sala Thai restaurant on Thursday evening 9th April 2015.My wife knew the waitress from when we lived in Ware in 2006, so the welcome was very friendly. That was the highlight of the evening!!I ordered Tom Yum Gai which is supposed to be a spicy chicken soup. It was very greasy and the ingredients were not fresh. I told the waitress that this was the worst Thai soup I have ever tasted, anywhere!! My wife did not have a starter. My main course was described as 'Crispy Cod with a spicy sauce. The fish was not crispy and the sauce was out of a jar or other premade container. My wife had prawn salad with a spicy sauce, the same sauce as my fish She also had a fish soup with vegetables which she said was tasteless. We left almost all the food and declined the offer to take it away!!Now, you should remember that my wife is Thai and I have eaten Thai food all over the UK and Europe so I think we know what we are talking about.I can only believe that the restaurant remains open because local people and workers at the pharmaceutical company based in the town have no taste buds or are easily satisfied. I look forward to hearing a response from the owner of this ...restaurant???

Eaten there 4 or 5 times and always good flavours the side noodle dish could be more generous other than that thai wine complements the food. Staff very friendly we have never been rushed and the menu is varied.

Have been here three times now and every time has been good - food very nice and friendly service. The only two negatives; one time we were moved from our table to let a couple who I assume were regulars sit at their favourite table - a bit weird after we'd already been seated, started our drinks and ordered! Didn't ruin our evening but may have rubbed some people up the wrong way more than it phased us.Secondly, one dish we had wasn't great - it was a seafood medley and was just generally a bit tasteless. Other than those two issues, everything else has been great each time.

I am American who often travels to the London area. Sala Thai is amazing Thai food, not only for English standards but for American as well. I have been to Thailand twice in the past couple of years and this is one of the most authentic restaurants for Thai food. I will continue to patron Sala Thai every time I'm near Ware!

I have heard really really good things about this place and have been waiting to try it for absolutely ages. Finally the opportunity fell into place to pick up their set meal for one, which sounds delicious on paper. When I got home and sat down to eat the satay chicken I found a nice black hair sticking to one of the pieces... VILE!!! I put it to the side to give them the benefit of the doubt - okay these things happen. Well, the green thai curry and the rice can only be described as non-events. I had about three bites and got bored as hell. If you can follow basic instructions on the back of a packet of blue dragon please save yourself the disappointment and just make at home. I'm glad I've tried this place but it was a very disappointing (and off-putting) venture. Overall impression: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sala Thai in the centre of Ware town is an excellent Thai restaurant. Although quite small , the dining area is down a spiral staircase in the basement, it is set out in such away that you don't feel crammed in. The staff are enthusiastic, friendly and charming and the food is all excellent. Particularly like the Thai Green Curry, but everything we had was delicious. Already planning on going back to try more dishes.

We have visited Sala Thai quite a few times in the past for a takeaway or to eat in and have always enjoyed it. But last night we went in and ordered a takeaway, 1/2 hour wait which on a Friday - Fair enough. We went for a drink and came back a bit later than stated. Our meal still wasn't ready in fact the last dish was rushed and made within a matter of minutes, while we stood there. The gentleman did apologise. But when we got home the rushed dish was the wrong dish! Overall we were very disappointed with the quality of the food - not up to the normal standard. Disappointing!

I have gone to Sala Thai a fair few times over the years - and have recently started ordering takeaway from there - and I have to say that I have never been dissapointed by the food. I can't say that it's the best thai food I've ever had as I've been to some very nice, up-scale thai restaurants, but Sala Thai is always consistently tasty and excellent value for money which is why I tend to choose it over others. My personal favourite is the pad thai noodles, and I recently discovered Kao Pad Chatuchak which is a spicy rice that it is lovely and perfect for those who like hot food. There's always lots of fresh vegetables in the stirfry dishes and the food is never stodgy. It's also worth mentioning that the staff are extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating, and whether they're delivering food to my door or serving me in the restaurant they are always cheerful. I would recommend for anyone who enjoys thai cuisine and wants good value food with friendly service.
