Best sushi in Southampton! Really diverse menu with options for everyone and very reasonably priced. All food was clearly cooked to order and very fresh. I would recommend the yaki Udon and the Gyoza. Will be returning!

Very bad customer service. We felt that we were treated differently because we are not locals. The lady who look like she is in charge is very rude. She told us to wait several times before taking our order when clearly we arrived first. While we are eating she came to us and said “are you finish?” when it is very obvious that we are still finishing our meal. I know they want to have more customers becuase it is a weekend but they should not jeopardize quality service just to earn more. Food is fairly good and wanted to order more but we felt that she wanted us to pay already and leave because there are other customers waiting. Certainly won’t recommend this place.

This place used to be my favourite Japanese restaurant but I hadn't been for awhile. During that time they have changed their menu and I was little dissapinted. They used to have a really wide selection of maki and sushi but that has now been limited to a handful. New dishes, some of them Korean had no descriptions.

One of the female serving us was very rude. The menu given to us was dirty with some fried rice on it. Table looked and feels sticky.

Have eaten here a few times now. The food is always absolutely delicious. Best sushi I’ve eaten! The staff are always efficient and friendly, the food always arrives very quickly. Would 100% recommend eating here!

They made a snap judgement that we were there to get drunk - (wrong. There are plenty of venues nearby which are much cheaper if we wanted to do that.) Then the service took a turn. They didn't bring out all the courses they promised but still tried to charge us for them. Poor experience.

An absolutely delightful and authentic restaurant in Southampton. Beautiful decoration and swift and graceful service. You are transported to another world. We ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, Teriyaki Salmon, Broccoli Butter, Moriawase Tempura, Sashimi Moriawase, Hanetsuki Duck Gyoza, Tempura Ice Cream and Mochi Ice Cream. Everything was brought out swiftly after ordering and tasted absolutely delicious. One of the beat restaurants for Japanese authentic food. Thank you.

I had the black garlic tonkotsu ramen with char siu. The broth was very nice and the char siu was good too, the only let down was the ramen noodles itself. Mine and my partners noodles were clumped and stuck together like a block and a bit of my noodles was also undercooked… apart from that I enjoyed my meal still. Had the lychee lemonade drink and that was refreshing.

Wide range of delicious food. Great sake and decent draft beers. If you like Japanese the this place is well worth a try.

Sakura Southampton is definitely a hidden gem in Japanese food. The many varieties of dishes served are authentic Japanese cuisine. Most importantly, food are tasty and presentations were very nicely done. Lava Roll and Hell Ramen are the Must try dishes. My wife and I were on holidays in Southampton for 2 weeks and every night, we had our dinner there. Beside the food, we also enjoy the cozy environment and the services rendered by their friendly staffs. Anyone going to Southampton and enjoy Japanese food should include this venue. No regrets!

Really nice food and good services. The hell tonkatsu ramen is the best , and the sushi was amazing especially the lava roll ,spider maki and also the Aburi cheese salmon . The food is serving in big portions. Also getting benefits if you pay by cash. The decoration of the restaurant is also very Japanese style . Overall love it so much. Would definitely come again next time

The restaurant had really terrible food. The restaurant is not proper Japanese, the restaurant is run by Chinese cooks serving Japanese food. In terms of dishes, I was really disappointed with the Kastu chicken, was really sweet and the teriyaki dish had the whole rice dipped in the sauce. Overall really disappointed with the food and the quality. Won’t be coming back

Good selection of sushi and great ramen

This place never fails. Fabulous food every time, whether that is sitting in or taking away. My most recent visit was a new experience as we asked for staffs recommendations and really enjoyed what they selected.

Excellent Japanese restaurant. Staff is very helpful and the vibes are very positive. Food is meticulously prepared as you'd expect from a Japanese chef.

The food here is the best around. My partner and I travel down from Brighton way, just for a date here. we always order a ramen which come out perfect every time. I don’t know how they get the eggs so perfectly runny but they always do. 10/10 in my opinion! Additionally the sushi there is also incredible and the waiters are always so kind and friendly.

Japanese restaurant run by chinese people. Food is ok, for a first japanese food experience it's nice. However for someone that has a lot of experience with food from japan I wouldn't recommend.

I eat here once every couple of weeks or so and I always enjoy it. There is a big menu with lots of sushi/sashimi and good box sets. Well priced, especially with weekday lunch discount of 20% (cash only).

We love Sakura and visit every few months. We usually have the ramen because it's so tasty. They are usually busy, which is another testament to how good they are. We think the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. The service is attentive and friendly. We highly recommend Sakura.

Take away the food taste it's fine

The atmosphere, food and staff are all excellent. I've visited three times over the last year and have had a great experience each and every time. The diversity of dishes is great, and plenty of things that I want to try (haven't dived into their ramen yet, but it's on the cards!) but have made a decent effort at getting through the menu Highlights are the age dashi tofu (unbelievable), volcano maki and the mango asahi - but you probably can't go wrong ordering with your eyes closed! Keep it going, you're awesome 👌

A fairly relaxed night for the kitchen but no denying the udon was really good, perfect bite, perfect spice and real umami. Bravo!

Must be popular if you're told that you only get 1.5 hours to have a meal. Perhaps it's because I was a solo diner? Ramen had plenty heat, no flavour, in my opinion. English is not their fist language, so communication is quite tough

Soooooo good. Nothing more can describe it. I think this restaurant is so far the best one. The tempura was amazing. The prawn tempura was the best. Usually, more than 80% of prawn tempura is flour but this one, you could actually enjoy prawn inside! I will definitely go to this restaurant again.

Loved the atmosphere here and the takoyaki was amazing. The portion sizes are definitely worth the price and will be coming back again to try some new dishes. I had the ramen which was good but lacked a little bit of flavour, but the tempura was delicious. Can't wait to try the sushi there next time.

We love this restaurant and try to eat here whenever we are passing through the region. The portions are generous and the food always freshly cooked and delicious. The pieces are also reasonable. We had mixed tempura, soft shell crab handroll, octopus karaage, fried udon, sashimi and agedashi (fried tofu).

Eaten here several times. It feels authentic and calm. The food is fantastic and the service is exactly what I would want. There’s a reason I keep going back.

Unfortunately, I have had to drop the rating, but I'd like to explain why. While the atmosphere, staff and food quality have remained consistently high (a testament to Sakura as a whole), there's been a fairly big change that for me, affects the overall experience: the prices/deals. I am unsure if this establishment has come under new management (I was quite familiar with the previous staff, and few if any have remained when we last visited) or not, but cutting out the 20% off deal for lunch has been a pretty big change. Without that deal, the prices can stack up much quicker, and unfortunately this has discouraged from eating/buying in the same quantity as previous years. My partner and I have been going since 2016, and while previously we used to go multiple times a year, without that deal we have had to cut back on our trips quite a bit. It used to be a place we'd easily happily go and spend between £40-£55 and get our two mains, 3-4 sides, drinks and dessert to share, now that amount wouldn't get us anywhere near the same quantity of their amazing food. We'll never stop going, but that change just cannot stay unaddressed. It's a shame, but that's just how life is, I suppose. It must've been a recent change, as even briefly after lockdown properly ended, they still had that offer, but when we visited earlier this year, that was no longer the case.

Ordered the multiple Ramens with different meats and soup bases and they were terrible. The soup base tasted like it was packaged and the meat was dry and tasted day old. No sushi was ordered so cannot comment on that, but the ramen(s) were just horrendous!

Mala pork ribs ramen was spot on, spicy and numbing with great depth of flavour. Superb coffee as well, atmosphere and service is good.

Lovely and lively spot for Japanese food. I keep on coming back for more. Lava roll and unagi don are a must-try! The curry with rice can sometimes be a hit-and-miss in my experience. The restaurant gets rather busy during peak times, so it is best to book in advance. Otherwise, it is usually fine to walk in.

Great authentic food at great prices. Really cool decor and the service is great. Plenty of seating inside too. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice place to eat for not that much

One of the best meals I've had in Southampton Sashimi was fresh and delicious, great Maki, crispy Croquette and delicious pickles. Asahi on tap tasted great too. Owner seems a bit crazy but food was faultless, highly recommended

That was a great choice for lunch. Had the first set lunch option (with salmon and tuna sashimi and beef) and a bit of warm sake. The service was amazing quick, and the tastes didn't disappoint. What a great way to say goodbye to the city!

Out of the four things we ordered, one we didn't like (ten don) as it seemed to lack flavour, but the rest was good (spider maki, prawn gyoza and seafood fried noodles. Price was also reasonable. It cost two of us about £50 which included 2 lychee lemon drinks (really nice, with three lychees) and 1 mango juice (taste like ordinary rubicon, to be honest). The atmosphere was good but could have been a little brighter. Overall, it was good.

If I can give a minus 5 stars, I hope that I can do this all day!!!!!! The waiter and waitress renege on their words for the discount, although we confirmed it before sitting down. And the attitude of the two old waitress were extremely bad. They use a awful tone to speak to the customers and not keeping a good manner. It was a horrible experience to have meal there. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!!!!!!!

The sushi is significantly better than the Ramen, clean tasting salmon and large nigiri. The ramen tastes like your grans chicken soup and no tare or aromatics, desperate for some umami notes. The service was rushed and the card machine was thrust into my hands with the prompt to "press green, continue" or words to that effect, this was a prompt to add a tip to the bill. I feel that to the tech illiterate this is a scary proposal that ends up in forced tipping. If zero stars were possible I'd rate it so. The decor is ok. The tables are a generous size.

The restaurant looks very nice, but the staff was very rude to us and other diners, speaking in a very irritated and commanding manner, with accompanying body language. The food seemed like it came from a normally good cook, but it was clearly rushed. May be better on a very calm day when staff can be bothered to not treat customers like misbehaving children.

Authentic Japanese Cuisine. Staff are friendly and the food is lovely. With discount if you will pay by cash. They told us that instead of giving the money to the bank they give the discount to the customers for paying by cash.

My go to restaurant in southampton. Quick service and authentic Japanese food. They also do delivery which is great but, the restaurant inside is also lovely with a great atmosphere. The only reason I miss Southampton is because of this restaurant!!!

My husband and I tried different dishes. None of them were great… raw salmon doesn’t have much flavor, and miso soup taste quite weak. The fried eggplant was not great. I was really disappointed. We won’t go back again.
