We had an itison voucher so for what we paid it wasn’t bad but wouldn’t have felt the same if paying full price. Chicken in ramen & teriyaki was so tough the knife was unable to cut through. Katsu loaded fries were nice but tasted more like Chinese curry cause than katsu. Server didn’t seem to have any idea what gluten was, saying twice the udon noodles were gf which they obviously turned out not to be so be careful if have gluten sensitivity.

Absolutely delicious food. We visited for the first time tonight using a Groupon voucher we received as a gift. The food was delicious and the service great. We were making plans to bring family here when they visit next month but, as I was writing this, my husband got an email advising that they are closing next week. We sincerely hope that this is a temporary closure as we were really looking forward to returning soon. If you are closing for good, we are very sorry to hear this, and wish you all the very best for the future.

I really, really wish I didn't have to write this review. We booked this place for lunch yesterday. We were the only ones there, which was fine as it was early. It was a bit awkward being the only table there. The food was quick (maybe a little too quick) my daughter had the uramaki. We also had chicken goyza, some sarachi fries, katsu curry. Everything arrived at once, even tho the goyza was advertised as a starter. Which is fine, but would've been better to be asked. The portions are huge, the katsu was really salty. I couldn't eat it all. The food is really well presented. Looks lovely. Enjoyed the goyza, they were lovely (even if they were fried). My daughter loved the Uramaki California. Unfortunately, my she has woken up today with horrendous food poisoning. Vomiting and upset stomach. She started feeling unwell last night so didn't have dinner, so I know it has to be the uramaki. I see other reviews have mentioned this had happened to them and I stupidly ignored them. There has got to be some issue here with the food and I really hope the restaurant sort this. It wasn't cheap for lunch £50, with a £5 tip for service. I really wish I'd read the negative reviews and taken them into account. You might be lucky and it could be coincidence. But it's unfortunate because the food looks lovely. It's well presented but it just falls short of the substance.

Really wanted to like this place and was looking forward to it, but unfortunately it’s terrible. Don’t waste your time or money! So for the food. I honestly can say worst meal we’ve had out in as long as I can remember. The ramen broth was like a bowl of flavourless greasy oil, coated your mouth so you couldn’t taste anything else but oil. The egg had clearly been cut way too far in advance as the yolk was shrivelled up and wrinkled. No depth of flavour whatsoever in this dish which is at the heart of a good ramen. Teriyaki chicken dish was utterly flavourless also, could’ve (and often do) made a better tastier meal ourselves from the supermarket. Gyoza had also been deep fried too which was very weird (should be pan fried or steamed). For the prices, you would expect authentic Japanese cuisine but it’s clear the chef has no experience in what this restaurant is selling! I complained (nicely) about my ramen being extremely oily and that I couldn’t eat it, waitress apologised and said she would tell the chef. However she then proceeded to put it on the counter, lean back on the bar and chat to the other waitress until we asked for our bill. Oh and had to pay full price for the inedible uneaten ramen, joys! The atmosphere is also very weird. The music is loud 70/80s hits… completely out of keeping with a Japanese restaurant (or any nice restaurant for that matter). Remember Nigiri also had this problem and people complaining but seems nothing has changed there. If you like real Japanese food or if you’d just like a nice calm atmosphere. Don’t come here there’s much nicer places around Giffnock.

My son took me too Sake Maki for the first time on Sunday 30th April for Lunch. The food was excellent and the customer service was the best we had received in a long time. Having worked in the hospitality industry for decades i was most pleasantly surprised at the service that we received from Jennifer the lovely young lady who looked after us. The food was very tasty and they portions were very good. We look forward to returning with our family. I cannot recommend this quaint little restaurant highly enough.

Sorry guys, I hate leaving negative reviews but I’m finding it difficult to see where the 5 star reviews are coming from on here? For the price, I expected authentic Japanese food…let’s just say the chef here is most definitely NOT Japanese. Deep fried EVERYTHING. Even the pork in my ramen (a tragedy) and the gyoza (gyoza should be pan fried or steamed) - that, plus watery, salty broth with zero depth of flavour does not make an enjoyable meal. (Never mind a remotely Japanese one) If you like real Japanese food and are used to authentic flavours. Don’t come here. Oh, we also both had upset stomachs about an hour after leaving… After speaking to a few locals afterwards, we were met with the same response. Wish I’d asked around first! The waitress was very nice and the service fast - I’ll give them that! Sadly, we will not be back.

Well what can I say about Sake Maki exceptional food, Pork Gyozas are heavenly the Beef Ramen with Miso Broth is so good that even when I was full up I didn't want to stop eating it. Very quiet little restaurant but Im sure that is just because word hasn't got round about how good it is. Will be looking forward to planning our next visit. I would definitely rate Sake Maki as one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Thank you for a wonderful meal guys 👏👏👏👏❤️

Worst meal I've ever (not!) eaten! We ordered 2 different starters to share between 4. One of those starters was crispy chicken and some of the chicken was not fully cooked/was still pink inside! Next, 3 out of 4 of us ordered ramen for our main courses and when it arrived 2 of them had the wrong meat in so had to be remade. After a very long wait we were served our meal and all 3 of the ramen had broth that was SO salty that we were unable to eat our meals! It genuinely tasted like someone had dropped a bag of salt into the pot when making it. It is a real shame as it looked lovely but it was impossible to even eat the vegetables, noodles or meat due to how salty they all tasted. We let the server know the problem and the inedible meals were taken away. Received the bill and we were charged full price! Never again! (the mains were included in a deal and we were charged full price for the starters and drinks.) ** Just to be clear, I award this restaurant zero stars, but am unable to post the review unless I award one star.

Christmas Day at Parklands Hotel & Country Club – A Massive Disappointment I’m not usually one for leaving reviews, but after the awful experience my family and I endured yesterday, I feel compelled to share this in hopes of saving others from a similar disappointment next year. As a family who traditionally enjoys Christmas Day at home, this year we decided to try something different. We booked Christmas lunch at Parklands, expecting a festive atmosphere, good food and a memorable experience. At around £100 per head, it wasn’t cheap, but we thought it would be worth it. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived, it was clear something was off. The atmosphere lacked any warmth or festivity—cold both literally and figuratively. The staff seemed stressed, and we were escorted to a cramped booth in the far corner of the room. We had booked for six people, though two couldn’t make it due to illness. Frankly, six people in that booth would have been impossible; it was barely comfortable for four. We were directed to a table in the centre of the room for “hors d’oeuvres”—a pitiful display of sad, soggy finger food on stale white bread. Not exactly the start we’d hoped for. When the starters arrived, they set the tone for the rest of the meal. Served on tiny side plates, the food was carelessly piled high with no thought to presentation. It was obvious nothing had been prepared to order. This was confirmed when the mains arrived just minutes later. Three of us had ordered turkey, and one chose seabass. The plates were only slightly larger than a side plate and the quality was abysmal. Everything was piled up on the plate, overcooked, mushy and varying shades of brown. The roast potatoes tasted stale, as though they were reheated leftovers and the pigs in blankets were made with the cheapest pork imaginable. Two of us couldn’t stomach it and requested steaks instead. When the steaks arrived (in a mere two minutes), they were no better. Overcooked to the point of being inedible, with big chunks of sinew dangling from the meat, they were served on the same sad, mushy pile of overcooked sides. It was a far cry from anything resembling a festive meal. Dessert, if you could call it that, was equally dismal. Clearly store-bought, it lacked any freshness or flavour and none of us touched it. What made the experience even worse was the dismissive attitude of the staff. When we raised our concerns, the server seemed annoyed. Even the elderly owner, who shuffled around the room asking for feedback, offered only a mumbled and insincere apology when he saw our untouched plates, before shuffling away. This wasn’t just another lunch—it was Christmas lunch. A day meant to be special, where memories are made. I had flown halfway around the world to spend this time with my family, only to be served one of the worst meals we’ve ever had. Parklands is also a hotel, so catering for large groups should be second nature to them. Instead, the entire experience felt like a money grab: a rushed, joyless assembly line designed to maximise profit while minimising effort. If you’re looking for a festive, memorable Christmas meal, I urge you to look elsewhere. Parklands offers none of that—no atmosphere, no care and certainly no quality. Even a dog would turn its nose up at the food we were served.
