Saint Aymes in City of London, Westminster

I came here in August for the afternoon tea. Unbeknownst to me, the owners were winding down the business and it showed. The decor was nice and the one owner and her employee were friendly enough. However. the afternoon tea was outrageously overpriced for what I got. I felt absolutely underwhelmed and fleeced. I should have paid 1/16th of what I paid for the food and service that I received.

I booked a private booking over a month in advance for this place. I was traveling to London from the US and my trip was short. I planned for a nice afternoon tea. I received confirmations that my request was approved, and a confirmation email 24 hours out from the appt. They even asked me how many were in my party for the day. Imagine my disappointment when I walked up to the front door, 5 min before my appt, to find out that my booking would not be honored. The space was hosting another party at the time. What poor customer service! This business doesn’t respect your time or money even though I followed their own booking system and confirmed with them 2 times. I will never spend my money here and suggest you take yours elsewhere.

this place is a joke. We checked the website that clearly says walk ins from Thursday to Sunday 12-3pm. When we arrived for our special celebration day out in London it was closed. No message on the door, no message on the website. To be honest in the end I was kind of glad as the place looks so run down via window. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like the pictures on their website! They cant even swipe the mess in front of their door that by the looks cumulated for a long time. Flowers on the outside looked so dirty and tired I wouldn't even take a picture. This place is a scam, In the end we went to EL+N and they saved our day. Or try Peggy Porschen as St.Aymes just copied these places anyway but not very successfully.

Family visiting from the US recommended that we stop and have lunch at Saint Aymes a few weeks ago. The entrance is whimsically lined with attractive florals, but the lovely experience ended at the front door! The service was appalling! We waited over 20 minutes for the waitress to attend to us - she brought the menu and another 30 minutes later we started to place our order. She stopped us mid-sentence as she realised she handed us the wrong OLD MENU. 45 minutes after placing an order on the new menu, the food (that she happened to remember from our order) was stale, flavourless and overpriced! During this terrible visit, we noticed flocks of people coming for photos (Instagram, presumably), and waltzing out - not staying for food! Looks like those people figured out what we painfully discovered too late…

Positives first: the venue is pretty and good for Insta snaps. I’m afraid that’s where the positivity ends. I visited with a long-time friend, eager to support the Bajan sisters we’d heard so much about. First impressions were not promising. My friend was spoken to rudely on her arrival as I was running late and therefore they couldn’t seat her until I got there. When I did arrive, we were seated and decided to go for the afternoon tea (£40). It arrived 20 minutes later and I mistakenly thought it must have been one person’s portion as it was so small. Alas, it was for two of us. I was looking at 80 quid’s worth of bread and cake. I went to ask - politely, as ever - and was told abruptly that ‘it’s 3 sandwiches each’. Oh, right. Three *strips*, more like. We pressed on. Around 3:45, one of the owners came to our table and stood there with the card machine. I hadn’t realised the place closed at 4pm. ‘Are you trying to get rid of us?’ I asked, jokingly. ‘We close at 4’ was the taut reply. Utterly rude. On leaving the venue, my lovely friend - who is polite and thoughtful, told the owners that we’d thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and that everything was great, but kindly joked that we we’d have loved ‘a few more sandwiches….and we’d be happy to pay for extra’. Well. If looks could kill. The owner told us crossly that ‘no one had ever’ said that to her before and that she’d ‘think about it and then charge you an extra £5’. I was beyond shocked. Is this really what customer service looks like? I’d wanted to bring my daughter here but in honesty, I’d think twice. I’ve paid double at Fortnum & Masons before but the customer service was impeccable. I’m afraid these sisters need to value everyone’s money - not just the celebrity ones….🙄🙄🙄

We visited for a unicorn afternoon tea after seeing photos of Saint Aymes and think it would be a fab photo opportunity! The outside of the cafe looked very pretty however inside was quite run down especially downstairs. Our hot drinks were lukewarm and the unicorn tea was a disappointment - the scones were doughy and the cream and jam was served together in a cake case (you can imagine how tricky this was to share between 3 people) and although the white buttercream cupcakes were nice the Forrerro Rocher one tasted strangely bitter like Cocoa powder, the waffles were very dry and needed a bit more sauce or something. Although the decor inside is pretty, it is a little rundown with signs of wear and tear and the experience itself fell short as a result although I took photos I didn’t end up posting any.

Dear Customers: read the reviews carefully. There is a good reason why this business has a 3 to 4 star rating. Saint Aymes is a beautiful space, but it is also highly over priced, and the service is less than ideal. I was excited to have brunch at this picturesque cafe. The photos were immaculate and I expected my dining experience to follow suit. My own experience was ok, (not great), but while dining there I witnessed the OWNERS of Saint Aymes berate a guest who arrived late for her party. The guest seemed to want to order additional items, which i don’t blame her because the portions are small. However the owners refused, claiming her lateness backed up the kitchen (or that’s what we all gathered from the screaming). Yes, the OWNERS of a business were yelling at their guest. What’s most ironic is that OUR items were late arriving from the kitchen and bar, as were the items of the guests at the table next to ours. None of us were late, so why didn’t our food and drinks arrive on time? Especially when the cafe was less than half full. The truth is, most bad reviews of this business mentions ‘slow or bad service’. We snickered at the owners’ behavior, but also felt sorry for the girl who was being blamed for the businesses’ inadequacies. The owners apologize to us, but the only person they should’ve apologized to, was the girl they were screaming at. Aside from this terrible display of professionalism, I would advise anyone who really wants to dine here to ‘walk in’. If you make a reservation you must pay the full amount in advance. There’s a good chance you might not want to wait through the painfully slow service for mediocre food and awful hospitality.

I took some friends to Saint Aymes for afternoon tea, it looked really lovely on instagram, and thought it would be a nice treat. On arrival we where greeted at the door and only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. We went downstairs which was really pretty but from there onwards it was awful we had to wait ages for our afternoon tea and was not given plates to eat off of. One of the sandwiches still had bits of crust on and the scones where still all doughy in the middle and my jam pot had half the contents missing which lead me to believe that my jam pot was taken from someone’s else’s serving 🤢 our scones where replaced with fresh new warm ones but we asked AGAIN for plates as we where still waiting for them from when we had first sat down. Service was slow and we had to take our cup cakes and macaroons in our hand upstairs as know one had come over to our table to check if everything was ok. Now it’s not the most expensive afternoon tea I’ve ever had but it was one of my not so great afternoon teas I’ve ever had, and pls be aware of the milk shakes as they are amazing but ever so expensive for what you get. It’s really pretty and a lovely atmosphere but I will not booking to go there again sadly.

Having seen pictures online of this magical place and the Unicorn tea for two experience I booked this for my partner. The place was super busy so glad we booked and the store was just breathtaking. Staff were super friendly and helpful and while we arrived early we don’t mind waiting. The experience was fantastic, the unicorn latte was Devine, the sugary delights of the afternoon tea were exquisite. The delicious cupcakes, pancake waffle we’re Devine. The scones were warm and fluffy, the macaroon just melted in your mouth. Just as it came to the end we could resist a unicorn cocktail which made the experience just as sweet. Certainly recommend for any couple who want a magical experience!

My biggest issue was the waitress was very unknowledgable and given the menu is so limited there is no excuse. There was a £15 deal where you could get a scone and a signature drink. After telling us initially that we could get a signature milkshake she then came back and said the drink wasn’t included but wasn’t clear what drinks were included. We were so confused that we just ordered the milkshake by itself! I also ordered a tea and cupcake. She forgot to give me the cupcake and I had to ask her for it. Look if you’re charging £17 for a milkshake on the basis of the aesthetic and experience that’s fine by me. But in this case, the quite loud and brash waitress who didn’t know her stuff took away from the experience. Disappointing.

I visited this little place with a friend and I was very disappointed. The woman at the front was very rude and dismissive as if I was being quite a pain ( despite that I booked and paid in advance ). The inside interior is OK ish for Instagram- if that’s what you’re after - but on closer inspection the place looks a bit like it is falling apart. Toilet was dirty, some cups were dirty… The food was below par for a “tea”. The sandwiches looked as if they had been in a fight. The waitress ( not the lady at the front ) was delightful, friendly and very nice. This was the only redeemable factor. Save your money.

I had been looking forward to visiting this place since last year, having read about the owners and being so impressed by them. I arranged to go with one of my best friends, who was also excited to be visiting the cafe. I am giving this information to convey that I went with great excitement and high expectations. We were both separately running late, and in fairness to St Aymes, when my friend rang and stated we would be 10 mins late for our reservation, they were very accommodating and said that would be fine. I arrived first. I went inside and it was empty, no member of staff was at the "front desk" so I just stood there and waited patiently. After a few mins, a lady emerged, and it was clear she had been eating because she was still chewing as she acknowledged me. Ok, slightly unprofessional but no big deal. I was seated , and given a menu while I waited for my friend. There was a deadline for last orders ( I think it was before 5 - 5.30pm, not sure if this was just for that day) so I wanted to order the food before my friend arrived, in order not to miss it. This is where the first issue arose. The menu was cracked and shabby. For an establishment that places such emphasis on aesthetics,only to have a menu that appeared to be chewed ( both the paper and the perspex that it was enclosed in)was very off putting! I have attached a pic. My side of the table was dirty, and seemed to have something resembling sticky ketchup on it.The radiator right beside me was dusty and grimy.I So by the time my friend arrived, I was already regretting my visit. She was also disappointed, but for a different reason. The Instagram pics seemed to give a far different impression than the reality, perhaps our expectations were too high, but it was no where near as fabulous as the pics convey. We were also upstairs,so perhaps the downstairs section is closer to the IG images. We ate fried chicken with waffles, and I had the milkshake with gold dust. We both felt the chicken seemed very " supermarket frozen " in quality, as opposed to a proper southern fried chicken. But a positive note,the waffle itself was absolutely delicious, and the milkshake was ok. Before we left, my friend asked for a feedback form. We were both concerned that the owners might not be aware of how staff were neglecting the place...e.g the torn menu, dirty table and radiator etc. The member of staff who was seeing to my friend's request on how to leave feedback was so loud that you could hear her from a mile away.It was bizarre. Please note that the staff member wasn't being rude, its simply how she spoke, like a former USSR Soldier, sharp and loud,as though she was taking part in an army drill! That level would be great in a busy bar in a nightclub, but completely unnecessary in a quiet cafe. I really hope this place improves because its a beautiful concept and has the potential to be amazing.

Went to Saint Aymes yesterday with my friend and we had just finished a large meal before arriving and decided that we wanted some dessert. I ordered the vanilla milkshake, candy floss and the brownie. The service was great and swift, the people who worked there was so kind and was so helpful in even locating us to the best part of the store to take pictures which was adorable. I’m not a fan of brownies, but the brownies were wonderful! Not too sickly which is great. This went down with the milkshake. The main attraction of Saint Aymes is the candy floss! So whatever you do, try and get the floss! 5 star service. 5 star food.

This was by far one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. Our head waitress Ola, went above and beyond with her team to make my sister's birthday special, (my sister is really hard to please, HA). Ola made that happen by giving exceptional service to a very picky bunch (including me). the food was very tasty, I had the waffles with chicken and bacon and they even had Tabasco sauce! Thank you to all staff that worked that day from start to finish it was a great experience... I WILL be back soon! P.s the candles Smell AMAZING and the music playlist was everything!!
