Sainsbury's Cafe in Christchurch

Refuses to take back Argos items. I was confronted by angry manager called Tom that screws up his nose when you wish to complain ...

I asked the lady at the till about gluten free options for breakfast… I was told to go and look in the fridge for allergens lists! And that she isn’t aloud to advise me what has allergens in and what doesn’t offer of the hot menu. So she was basically telling me she was not aloud to be knowledgable about her menu and therefore could not help me. I suggested that if the sausages and hash browns were gluten free then I would just have gluten free toast with a full breakfast however they have ‘supply issues’ getting gluten free bread although they are literally WITHIN a supermarket that sells gluten-free bread. TO SUM UP : rude unhelpful staff. All have resting (non-happy Non-Welcoming) faces! Bad attitude bad customer service and to top it off I’ve now got an excruciating tummy because I wasn’t advised of the ingredients in the sausages and hash browns. (I avoided the toast obviously!) Disgusting place NEVER AGAIN!

Have recently reopened...usually enjoy their hot chocolate..but got to say nowhere near as good as it used to be..tastes cheap

First day of opening.great coffee and cheese and onion toastie.very nice friendly staff.enjoyed very much.

I appreciate that this is a supermarket cafe, so I hadn't expected Michelin star food, and well to be frank the breakfast was reasonable, sadly like many cheaper places, they have copped out with cheap bacon... a little more spent on this key ingredient would make such a difference as what they use is wafer thin. The food is cooked to order which is nice as it guarantees (in theory at least) that it will be hot, unfortunately this means that build your own breakfasts are not offered, and tweaks to the set breakfasts on the menu are limited. I think something like Debenhams where you can have 8 items of your choice for a set price would be a good addition to the menu. The service today wasn't great, I waited in front of the till behind which a staff member was writing something and left me waiting for a minute or so without a word. I don't object to the fact that she had other things to do, but a simple "I will be with you in a second" would have made me at least feel noticed. Once she did start serving me however, her manner was fine - so the experience wasn't terrible... just needs a bit of work to make it better.

We were staying in a nearby hotel, and this seemed like a good option for breakfast to start our day. We had a full english breakfast and tea. Our breakfast took a few minutes to arrive, but we had been warned there may be a slight delay. We were prepared for that and had a pot of tea EACH to enjoy before our food arrived. There were 3 lovely cups from each pot. Lovely tasty sausages, bacon, egg, hash brown, tomato and beans. Together with toast it was an excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price. I would certainly recommend.

Weather the staff in this cafe are half asleep I do not know, but that’s the immediate impression it gives off. SLOW, no Urgency. We came in on a QUIET day and still we are waiting 40 Minutes for food with a screaming hungry baby no apologies from waiting staff for long wait! Have come here 5/6 times prior it’s always the same. Yet management fail time and time again to address the issues in this cafe! Coffee is also far too bitter! Disgusting! WONT BE COMING BACK! Major revamp needed staff and produce!

We were staying at the premier inn and its a good breakfast for a good price, good friendly service.

Had Breakfast here 2 days running. Day 1 we were there pretty much at opening time and service was prompt and the food was hot. We had a big breakfast and a salmon and egg bagel plus pots of tea for £12.10p. Day 2 we were later, around 9.30'ish, and they were resonably busy. We ordered a big breakfast and a toasted teacake and butter and were told it would take about 25mins for us to be served. We were not in a rush so decided for us this would be ok, When the food arrived it was ok but definitely not as hot as the previous day.

Not that impressed, it was more like eating in an 80's canteen than millenium + cafe, quite disapointed with the microwaved food and lack of interest!

Went for breakfast, usual fare, not high class but what do you expect, it was fine and the staff were friendly. Would go again.

Went on a cold afternoon for smack and hot chocolate. Hot chocolate was so weak it was like milk with a dash of flavour.

Such a shame because the menu and potential here is so good.. We arrived around 9.30am and there was only about 10 people scattered about and only about half of them with number signs so we really didn’t understand why our cooked breakfasts took about half an hour to be ready. Maybe temporarily understaffed? Apparently not reading other comments on here dating back months.. Food was thankfully hot when arrived but of mediocre quality, also the tray station where you put your dirty tray was completely full so we had to leave on nearby table.. COME ON SAINSBURYS GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!! No reason why you can’t have few bits kept warm and just cook eggs fresh, you would definitely attract more customers if there were more staff and better system.. Hats off to poor guy behind tea/ coffee/ till point as he was holding things down single handed! With a random lady bringing out hot food ( no one cleaning)..

After an early start we popped in hoping for a quick breakfast. 1/2 an hour later our food arrived. Don't blame the lady on the till she was doing her best. The only people that looked like management were sitting at a table having a meeting. They could surely see what was happening or not happening.

Popped in for a quick lunch, only to be told after ordering that there was a 35 minute wait. Only one person behind the counter who could not cope. Food handling clearly did not comply with food hygiene standards and on sitting down we found tables had not been cleared and the self-clear tray trollies were full.

Popped in for quick lunchtime bite. Mr nomad ordered ham and cheese tostie while I had a blt sarnie.

We had a bacon sandwich and toasted teacake, which were both good. Coffee ok. Friendly efficient service. Clean surroundings. Good value. Would go again.

Thought we would have breakfast here as cheap,ordered waited 1/2 he hadn’t received it,went up to counter young girl said she ordered it in kitchen woman in kitchen said hadn’t got order,said we’d have to wait even though only about 10 people in cafe!we asked for money back,rubbish service

Went here early on a Saturday morning so when we arrived there were only a few people sitting at tables. We were told there was 30 mins wait for breakfast and we decided to stay it started filling in after that and the time of the wait got longer and longer for people. I have never seen this happen before for a breakfast order. People with small children were having difficulity keeping them entertained. Maybe if you go in and order breakfast and go and do your shopping it might suit you.

We went there for breakfast as we were staying at The Premier Inn opposite. There was a problem with the till not sending orders through to the kitchen, the member of staff moaned to all of the customers that management weren't answering the phone, and that the only way she could get hold of someone was to shout over the balcony. She didn't know how to process some orders through the till, she was constantly fanning herself, she wasn't wearing a hat or hair net, so hairs could have been going over food or drink. They charge £3 for a portion of smoked salmon, which is tiny, I asked if that's all you get for £3 and was told yes it was. The lady serving was still moaning to customers when we left over half an hour later. Training on how to use the till, customer service and hygiene would be a good idea. You would be much better off going to Greggs.

We waited a significant length of time for our breakfast. Assuming it was being freshly cooked and should be nice and hot, how wrong we were. The food was only warm, the toast was only buttered in a 2”ring in the centre of the round of bread. The bacon was nearly burnt in places and dry and the sausages were the opposite, under cooked. This was the worst cooked breakfast we’ve ever had from Sainsbury’s

Bland food , dated enviroment , slow service , and bland staff ,ive been a few times on a sunday morning for breakfast, now i go to stewarts or frias cliffe cafe .

Don't usually rate supermarket Cafe's as they are so often disappointing but tried this one in the recommendation of a friend, was not disappointed, excellent customer service and good sized plate of tasty well cooked food.

We enjoyed breakfast here which set us up for our day's journey. Staff were helpful & friendly & the young man who served our food to us was very pleasant Indeed & polite too.

after over one hours shopping its nice to know you can have a refreshing cuppa, meals not special usual fast food outlet type tasteless & cardboard stick to tea & scone , butter &jam;.

The coffee is good here but the menu does not vary enough. They could expand on hot and cold meals. Long waiting time unless after 6pm.

Quite busy but great service from staff- very polite and attentive. Two meals- jacket potato with vegetable chilli and a bowl of chips- tea and a latte. All hot and nicely cooked- all the food looked quite good.

We eat here pretty regularly, due to the convenience and also because it used to be good quality, cheap food.

I often eat here breakfast and lunch as this is a handy stop off for me. Can get very busy and at busy times service slow. Staff are great, very friendly despite often being very overworked. Sainsbury's never seems to provide enough staff surprising when you see how popular the cafe can be especially with parents with young kids and the elderly. Cafe on first floor so has a lift and disabled toilet on cafe level. Certainly handicapped friendly. Does not have a wide selection of food but what it has is tasty and hot, be prepared to wait 20 to 30 minutes at busy times. Food pricing is very competitive.

Stayed at the premiere inn and Sainsburys was a short walk away ,we used the cafe for breakfasts and were not disappointed,food was good had scrambled egg and bacon or best sausage and bacon sandwiches,very tasty and good value,staff were friendly plus morning papers to borrow Will use again if staying at premiere

Called in on Thursday evening.Well if you want cheap eats not rubbish,this is the place to go.This was only a short walk away from the Premier Inn where we were staying.You get what you pay for(and it is good)Considering what what the B>E>was charging,next to our hotel,this was a bargain.

I came here for breakfast at the Sainsbury's Christchurch Superstore. Parking was free, but a little difficult as the store was so busy. The cafe is upstairs on a mezzanine level. Although the lift and stairwell have seen better days, I thought the cafeteria itself was bright and clean, and quiet with little if any background noise from the superstore below, but not really any atmosphere. I found the service to be quick, friendly and polite and the breakfast arrived after just a few minutes. I had the meat-free option which was tasty, filling and great value at £3.40.

Visit your cafe today not only did it take 40 minutes for are food to come they got are order wrong I order mushroom and cheese omelet has a vegetarian and I was given mushrooms and ham so I then had to wait another 15min for my meal by which time the people with me had finish there meal .O fill that your cafe gone down hill over the last 3 months I use to eat there about 1 a week but I think I have to find some were else to eat this is not the first time I had problems over the last few months that why I fill it time to complain. Sainsbury's has a large store by the roundabout as you approach the Christchurch bypass.There is ample parking which is free. The cafe is upstairs but there is a lift available for those unable to manage the stairs.Toilets are also on the first floor by the cafe.As you enter there is an area to store your trolley as you are not allowed to take this to your table. Plenty of seating is provided and the cafe is a good size.The cafe offers a selection of hot meals as well as sandwiches, drinks and cakes which you order and pay for at the counter.We ordered two coffees and a cake, all of which were reasonably priced. The staff were also very friendly and efficient.Very convenient if you are shopping in Sainsbury's or the next door Stewarts Nursery
