Surprisingly quiet for a Thursday evening. Went specifically for TU clothing 25% off week. Whilst there had a wander around, they have a good houseware selection as well as an extensive clothing department. Food aisles are pretty standard for all Sainsbury's. Parking is a total confusion. Phone them and it says there are signs everywhere explaining parking times, where, I could not see any other than disabled/child parking, nothing about maximum times.

So, we all have to enjoy the new shopping experience of doing the checkout operator's job using handsets to scan your purchases, all at the cost of staff as they cut jobs, but what other joyous effects are there? Well mainly the dreaded 'time for a quick check' message when you go to checkout. We made a mistake many months ago, forgetting to scan a single, loose mushroom and ever since then our card is marked and we 'enjoy' quick check after quick check. Last week the assistant made a mistake, scanning one item twice in error, lights flashed, alarm bells rang, the shutters automatically closed so no one could escape & we had to suffer the ignominy of a complete rescan thanks to her mistake. Well I might have exaggerated part of that, but it was torturous as the first rescan didn't work and it had to be completely redone whilst a large amount of frozen food we had warmed up nicely.... I complained when I got home, but Sainsbury's haven't bothered to respond. So we went back one week later... you can guess what happened, so a simple question, does Sainsbury's system record these occasions and force 'quick checks' more frequently for perpetrators?

So many aggravating gripes with this store... Please stop moving aisles!!! I have to do laps and laps because I can't keep up with where things are. The signage isn't moved which then just leaves the wrong overhead signs... It's clearly to make people spend longer in there buying things they don't need. Unethical when none of the other shops do it. Reduced bakery items do not scan which means you have to wait for assistance at self-checkouts... *every* other shop manages it just fine. Why is this shop the only place in the entirety of the UK where I get no mobile signal? Do you have a signal jammer. I can't search recipes or message people to ask if I'm buying the right thing etc. The left turn into the carpark from the roundabout which causes a traffic pileup because it's not made for the terrible UK driving. It's also very hard for a pedestrian to make it from that side of the carpark across. Why are there 5000 parent and child bays which everybody ignores, and 5000 disabled bays which are always empty? The only remaining fuel pumps in the UK which don't take payments at the pump. I really don't know why I come her when my total spend comes up to 3x anywhere else.

This used to be a good store but the new manager hasn't got a clue. Empty shelves, incorrect prices on the shelf and the manager closed the customer service desk; you now have to queue at the cigarette counter. The self scan constantly requests re-scan and the staff are SO unhelpful. Avoid the place if you can.

Visited 11/11/2024 and was in the store at 11.00am for the two minutes silence. Store announced it a couple of minutes before and then at 11.00. Staff and customers fell silent. Not so the store pa system. Background music played throughout. No respect. I asked a cashier to call the store manager. A manager came. I explained my feelings. Platitudes was all I got. No meaningful apology. Claimed he never heard it. I requested he take notice and ensure it is not repeated next year. Somehow I think I was talking to a brick wall. My father and uncles served. One suffered from what we now know at PTSD and later committed suicide. I knew all of them.

Great store. Stocks footwear ,clothing, jewellery, and an Argos. With more besides. I always leave with more than what's on my list. Update: 7th Nov. Remains well stocked, and as always, I left with more than my shop list. Only thing I couldn't get were vegan breads or crackers for a vegan friend. Nine in store or sold out... I was disappointed as there has been an increase in vegans, so I'd hoped they would be catered for. The vegan foods are also difficult to find (not my usual food) , I felt it would be beneficial for them to be in a general area or well labelled on the aisle. Friendly and helpful staff, and I found some bargain plants 😉

All the benefits of a big shop as there are toilets, petrol station, cafe, an in store Argos , also a Specsavers opticians. The problem with the place used to be the constant reorganization of the shelves. Thankfully this has now stopped and the store has settled down a bit with some consistency of goods remaining where they were. You can buy NISHIKI brand rice at every big Sainsbury’s. I had been buying it for the past 3 months. However, I found two dried bugs in the rice. And the quality of the rice continued to deteriorate. If you want to buy asian rice, always buy Japanese rice, Japanese products are the best but expensive. Additionally, Bugs have to ‘NOT’ be in rice. That is absolutely repulsive. I don’t want to eat bug friendly rice. And Sainsbury’s apparently supports bug friendly rice, great. This is why you always have to wash rice before cooking it. if you cooked rice with bugs in it, the bugs would be split into pieces, resulting in those soaking through the rice. And you will consume them. ps. there's no pictures of bugs because I was very shocked and threw them away instantaneously down the sink. you can at least see the quality of the rice from my picture. hope it helps you.

Rick Stein is an admirable man and when he started this was a great restaurant (he took it over from the Depot all those years ago). But it's gone downhill at quite a speed now that his sons run it - and today the Barnes outlet has all the rip off quality you expect from so many London restaurants these days. The seafood curry used to be one of the stars of this place and there also used to be a wonderful Asian crab dish that was a mess to eat but absolutely delicious. But no more. We had the curry recently and it was utterly average. And my wife still can't get over one occasion when she asked the waiter for a glass of white wine and it came in at £17.50. Service is always stretched here in my experience. Better experiences locally at Sam's Riverside and the Ivy Chelsea.
