The cafe is now 'permanently closed' as part of Sainsbury's disastrous cost cutting measure. It may be that Livingston will be one of the supermarkets to get one of the promised replacements (it's a big Sainsbury's) but as of April/May 2022, there is no café.

After shopping today my mum and I thought we would have a light lunch in the cafe. I was extremely dissapointed as all they had that was gluten free was fruit or GF cake bars. Sainsburys sell GF bread and rolls in store so why can't they have them in the cafe ?The waitress offered me vegetarian which obviously she didn't realise wasn't GF. My mum and I used to always go there and I would get a baked potato, but they don't do that now. Very dissapointed. Sainsburys cater for Vegetarian and Vegan but not GF. Sainsburys always had a good cafe with hot food but I don't think we will be back until that resumes or until the staff know the difference of vegetarian and GF

Restaurant as now became a café, Pick your own food off the shelves pay for them to cook them if required, Cup of tea £2,50 ? Toasties, cakes etc. Café is clean as normal and staff are still as helpful but the soul seems to be ripped out to what was a busy place years ago.

Breakfast was cold poor service waited ages. Not very friendly nor helpful. I wouldn’t waste my money going again

It’s your usual supermarket type food, cheap( ish ) and cheerful. Friendly staff, ample car parking. Near the bigger centres in Livingston

This is a well run café which is lovely and clean and the food is always nice.The staff are always polite and helpful.

Well it was lunch really but we had an all day breakfast, plenty of it, loads of it and all very nice. Bacon, eggs, tomato, mushroom, sausages, toast, and more, the fried eggs were just perfect !. Its a cafe so no airs and graces, clean and tidy with friendly staff. Plenty of choices for food but the breaky was excellent, only just manage to fit it all in. Coffee was very nice too. Definitely go again.

Went here to pick up some food for the next week. Found most the things we needed and some cheap wrapping paper for next xmas. Overall good experience and very friendly staff!

Had a nice cuppa tea or juice with a catch up with friends and it’s clean and tidy but if it’s really busy and you are ordering stuff for a lunch you can have a wee bit of a wait but not long

Local sainsburys. Choices are not very good. Often run out early in the day. Ok if you just want coffee and a snack. Expensive for what it is!

It’s a good lunch not bad sometimes the the ham and cheese panini is a bit over heated and really crispy on the edges and had sometimes a wee 20 min to 30 min wait that I don’t mined if it’s really busy but some times it’s been quiet and they say a 20 min wait a coffee break here is good coz no need to wait for stuff x

I know it's just a cafe within Sainsburys supermarket in Livingston but you can get a good breakfast there. Clean, ( including the toilets ), reasonable prices and tasty food. Hot food delivered to your table by pleasant staff. In the morning try a breakfast baguette.

First impression not good cant be bothered attitude at till,told there will be a 20 minute wait on food.That was not a problem as place was busy,ordered 2 baked potatoes and cod and chips.about 30 minutes passed and girl came out with 2 baked potatoes no cod she then took our number from table that they need to know where the food is going?she then said she will be back in 2 mins with cod and chips.10 minutes passed with this girl passing us many times without making eye contact to say there was a problem,we had to speak to a young lad who went back then came out and said the order did not go through and was going to be another 10mins.At this time i had been waiting just under 45 minutes.SHOCKING SERVICE DONT IGNORE PEOPLE AND THINK THE PROBLEM WILL DISAPPEAR.

Waited in line for far to long in the cafeteria while 5 staff members all fuss and fumble over the customer in front of me which they appeared to know. Maybe it was The Queen???? She was in Scotland today!!! Nope, it was just another customer that makes a total performance of ordering while she, and all the staff make everyone else wait to long!

The only good thing to buy here is the fresh fruit in the fridge, the yoghurts and desserts, and fresh cakes. The hot drinks are not bad and the meals are just acceptable and no more.

We pop in now and again and this was one of those against, whilst in livinston, great for a browse and to buy something something different that you probably would not normally buy.

not the best food, not the first time I got the impression that the food was actually the "seconds" from the shelves.....black bits on the skin of the tomato. No sorry wasn't impressed.

Nice staff and good, freshly cooked food at budget prices. It's a treat for us to visit on a Sunday morning for breakfast before shopping at the supermarket.

Food is pre packaged frozen meals reheated in the microwave, sandwiches are boring and bland. service is slow.

Decided to have lunch here after shopping. Service was a bit slow and didn't have much to choose from. Cafe was quite busy but not overly. Clean which was nice. Not really much to say had toastie with chips which was mediocre.

My sister and I have lunch at this restaurant every Saturday. We each have the same thing - one portion of fish, one portion of peas, one pot of tea and one pot of hot water - the cost is £10.40 which we have never complained about.For the last two Saturdays when our lunch arrived, the plate contained about a tablespoon of garden peas. Normally the fish is of a good size, plus we used to get a slice of lemon and some tartar sauce. But not recently. As I said there was a portion of fish and about a tablespoon of garden peas and that was it. When I looked at the bill, I was shocked to find out that they were charging us 70p for the peas which is complete daylight robbery. We let it go the first week and thought things would improve the second week. Our lunch appears to be either a hit or a miss - we sometimes get tartar sauce and lemon, then sometimes we don't - there's just no consistency and that's no way to treat customers especially loyal ones!But last Saturday, my sister took the fish and I took cottage pie. She again had about a small tablespoon of peas on her plate but for my cottage pie, I had twice the amount of peas on my plate. When we queried this, we were told that the portions were strictly controlled using a special scoop which is absolute nonsense and is an insult to our intelligence as I had twice the amount she had.The cutlery isn't very clean at times either and sometimes there's no cutlery in the trays.The staff in this restaurant need a good "wake up call" as there needs to be some sort of continuity.I shop regularly with Sainsbury and have done for years but their restaurant in Livingston falls way short of the standard that I expect from this chain - very sub-standard and looks like a school canteen.

Food was disgusting . No variety. Looks like a school cantina . Will never return. Shame because Sainsbury's is a good supermarket shame they cantine let's them down.

This is a cafe in a supermarket so don't expect too much. The service was ok, the coffee good and the seating fine. Great for a short break when shopping.

I recommend the Brunch (all day breakfast with chips). I share it with my son who is a bacon and chip fiend.

Sainsburys cafe is very clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is nice and not too expensive. I asked for a glass of iced water with my meal and it wasn't a problem.

O.K it is not fine dining but fish and chips here is so good and at this price cannot be bettered around this town. The service is amazing too quick and such friendly people make it a pleasure to eat here. All for under £13 with drinks you must give it a try

This is great for a coffee or a meal, the staff are always smilling and very helpful. You always have a good selection of newspapers to read.

Visit here quite often for food. Piping hot and usually quick. Coffee is big enough to last through meal. Kiss enjoy this

Nicely cooked food and some of the nicest staff in Livingston, always smiling and very helpful Although they have a fixation regarding the sachets of sauce ect they spin them away asap lol

I love this cafe. Invariably I'm in for coffee and a read of the papers but occasionally I will have their macaroni cheese which is scrumptious. The staff here are a lovely bunch - always smiling and cheerful - and nothing is too much trouble for them.

The restaurant in sainsburys is very good ,food nice and hot ,staff very polite. Sometimes it can get very busy ,clean and tidy overall very handy if your doing your shopping ,good value for money

Unhelpful management, too busy telling staff what to do than they forget about the customers. Tidy enough shop, bit expensive for the quality too. Smelly fish counter. Fresh fish doesn't smell! Don't think I'll be going back unless everything else is shut and I'm starving!

Went in to get some pet food and found lean diced casserole steak for £1.25 a pack, bough 4 for the freezer, yes, they were reduced.Staff were lovely and helpful.

plenty of parking outside and handy for a spot of shopping and a meet up for a cuppa, always clean and tidy, always friendly staff, reasonable prices, and lovely hot chocolate. Some chair seating and some 2 seater couch seating with coffee table, so you can select where to sit and chill for some well deserved time after shopping - after is most likely better as you would be reluctant to actually move once you are sitting there ( ok so that's only my opinion ) - but more tasty and possibly more nutritious than the fast food chain on the other side of the parking area it has to be said !

Good quick service and a good lunch menu, we had panini with chicken and bacon. Friendly staff with a happy attitude makes this a good lunch time!

Service is always excellent as is the coffee. Loving the fact that they now have petrol at Livingston and price has dropped from 115.9 to 106.9 only downside is that if u get a voucher while shopping for fuel u can't use it there as the petrol station is unmanned

Excellent shopping. Apart from the fruit and veg department. Does nobody sell fresh firm lemons anymore, Good selection of goods but no flair like you would find on the continent. Surprise Surprise free parking. Well done Sainsbury.

i shop in sainsburys around 3 times a week, i always find the staff very approachable and willing to help. the cafe food is good and it's a good price. my preferred shop over asda and morrisons

never had any issues, always easy to shop in and staff helpful and friendly.shop is well laid out too, like in a proper order instead of all jumbled up. and it’s cleanI hunt for bargains, some would say it’s too dear, but pop in around 5pm when the breads and cakes are all marked down in price

Typical supermarket food. Limited choice but served hot. Eating area kept clean and tidy. Value for money.

This stop has got everything right . A great place to do a food shop and also to find tasteful home furnishings . Ive always been a fan of their clothing dept as its well priced with excellent quality and style. At the end of all this you can relax in their spotlessly clean cafe where a good variety of food and snacks are on offer . To add to all the above the customer service is wonderful . On the one occasion I had cause for complaint it was dealt with immediately and with good manners. Definitely the best shopping experience in the Livingston area. !

I mentioned to a friend I was going to Sainburys the next day shopping and they recommended their restaurant and the breakfast in particular. They were not wrong. Firstly, the parking is great and free. The initial impression of the store was one that is clean and well managed and has very attentive staff. We went for breakfast before we did any shopping. Their breakfast is fantastic and the whole place was spotlessly clean. There was a very nice and pleasant lady who was clearing tables and ensuring the floor was clear of any mess left by the previous occupant. She had a cheery word for everyone. well done. Our breakfast arrived shortly after ordering and we were delighted with them. Piping hot and everything looked freshly cooked. We soon finished those and were ready to face the chore of shopping. The shop is well laid out and we actually enjoyed the stroll along the aisles selecting wha we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Just what you need. I will be visiting this store again but I tend to do a big shop to save too many trips in the car. Sainsburys in Livingston had everything I needed and soon it will have its own fuel station. The management and staff are to be congratulated on a job well done. Don't forget your Nectar card.

Shopping with limited time, visited the cafe for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised by the choice available. Friendly service, fast delivery of well cooked fish and chips. The coffee was very good. Exactly what we were wanting.

First visit to Sainabury's in Livingston yesterday. We were pleased to see that there was a cafe as we needed a break before we did our shopping. There was a good variety of food to choose from and, unlike many supermarket cafes, it was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed coffee and scones and did our daily crossword! Just what we needed!

Smaller than the other supermarkets in the area. I find them a bit pricer as well. Ok for buying items on promo, the clothing selection is good. And washes well. Handy if you want to grab some basics.

Supermarket Cafe is exactly it. Not to be underestimated. Staff and food were really good. Restaurant was also clean and tidy. Great for a quick break or lunch.

Easy to navigate around the aisles and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Excellent Bakery with a good range of speciality breads in particular the multiseed which is fantastic and just too moreish. One popint of issue if you are buying fresh cut bread is to ask them not to tie the bag to tightly as it is a nightmare to open. The also have a good range of non grocery items also instore including clothing and electrical.

It's nice to pop in here for a cuppa and a pastry for a change from the busy and crowded shopping centre nearby. Generally always served with a friendly smile at the tills and no problems making my granny a very, very weak black coffee just as she likes it. Had breakfasts here also and no complaints there either. Good food and very reasonably priced.

Busy café adjacent to main store with friend helpful staff. Food is of good quality and is excellent value for money.Minor points for improvement needed, cutlery needs cleaned better and food can take a little longer to arrive than normal these two points have been an issue since months into café opening. Can recommend to others, as café is great place to eat with your family or for coffee and a cake or more. ;-)

The breakfast at Sainsbury's is of a very good quality but if you are a coffee lover ask for the Americano rather than filter as the filter coffee isn't so reliable.The staff are mostly friendly and helpful, some especially so.I find the lunch a bit less inspiring but the children love the chips.

this like all the other Sainsburys we have visited do a lovely breakfast that is ideal to relax and have your food cooked for you before doing the weekly shop. The toast with our breakfast was nice too. The problem I have is having wait longer than 20 mins on a Saturday morning when it was virtually empty - the wait was one of the longest. At Braehead, the server warns you about a wait like this and when they bring your food they apologise for the delay - nothing like that here- good job we weren't too bothered but we had finished our coffee long before our food came and no refill so husband paid for another - that's not good service. I would have given a higher marking if this didn't happen - doesn't beat Braehead - none do !!

I ate in the cafe last week with my son and niece, it was clean, tidy friendly staff. It's also very good value for money. Lovely way to relax just before the mad monthly shop. No complaints about the store either, fast service well stocked, friendly staff.

Clean and tidy with a varied selection of snacks and main meals. Cod and chips well cooked and presented. A tad quite at times possibly because of Morrisons around the corner. Why oh why no all-day breakfast on the menu? It's usually #1 seller elsewhere.

Often visit here for lunch.The mac cheese and chips as well as burgers are very tasty. You get a good portion and the prices are reasonable. It's always clean and the staff very friendly.

We have been here a few times for a meal. The staff are really helpful. I have food intolerances of dairy and gluten, they are more than happy to cater for me.
