What a grotty, tatty shop with dirty aisles and miserable lighting. Time for a revamp and that goes for the staff too. Rude and insensitive to customers with disabilities. I won’t shop there again until they spend some money on making the shopping experience more pleasant for the customer.

Did some shopping and found when I got home checked the receipt and none of the discounts were added, realised should have checked it in store but really why should I have to, if I ever go again and its a big if, I will be scrutinising the receipt

Avoid this store. This is my experience; When shopping I bought tins of cat food for the charity box, a customer told a member of staff that I was stealing from the box. So, whilst placing the food in the box which is on the floor and you have to bend right down to put it in , I was followed to the door and stopped inside by security for allegedly stealing from the Charity box as advised by one of their customers. I showed them my receipt and then went back into the store to complain to the manager. My issue was that I wasn't stealing and took pictures of the food I had donated with the receipt to prove it! The manager apologized. My issue was that unless they had camera footage of me stealing (which i assure you I wasn't) so they didn't) then why was I stopped on the hearsay of a busy body customer. The manager apologized to me. I pointed out that if a customer said I was carrying a knife what would they do, would they pin me to the floor and assault me on. I wrote to complain to head office with no reply whatsoever. I am 61 years old and have a heart condition. I have never broken the law and am not a criminal. This experience frightened me as I realized how vulnerable I was within this store, they seem to be a law unto their own. I never got a reply to my complaint. So to my point, I am mixed race Pakistani and have since visited the store. Each time I am followed by the same security man that initially stopped me for allegedly stealing (was donating) from the charity box. I am not just followed by this security man but I am also followed by whoever his side kick mate is. This amounts to intimidation and harassment! So people of colour I warn you, if you go into this store you will be followed and you will stand out like a sore thumb as it is a store with a primarily white customer base who will as in my experience look you up and down and make you feel awful. Avoid this store at all costs as security will zoom in on you and follow you all around the store. Absolutely awful experience and totally wrong and racist. Only something a person of colour would understand. Stay well away people of colour, you are not safe in this store a security are from the wild wild west and a law unto their own.

I visited Sainsbury’s with my 16 year old daughter all was fine and well shopping. However when we got to the checkout my daughter was looked up and down as 1 can of gin and tonic was scanned, she was asked are you paying for this! We both replied NO! .we carried on a few mins later with shopping scanned and bags packed I wanted to scan a voucher that was on my daughters phone it went through all okay. However then then another store colleague approached us and said because my daughter scanned the voucher for me she though she didn’t look 25 and we couldn’t purchase the alcohol. My daughter was asked for ID or a passport My daughter replied with I don’t have one. We had to sift through the over £100 pounds of shopping to find the 1 can of tonic and gin to cancel it off the order and pay for everything else. This made my daughter extremely uncomfortable and targeted. I had to pay for the 1 can of gin and tonic separately which only cost £1 and this whole experience was enough for Sainsbury’s to lose our custom! Remember everybody don’t take your children shopping if they don’t look 25!!! Or you have no chance of getting your gin and tonic!

Just got back from the most stressful shop I have ever done. Due to coronavirus and needing to distance this store is not putting enough in place. You queue outside that part great. But then once inside it's crazy they let too many in and it's hard to avoid people as some just don't understand social distance including the staff!.. then when you leave your going through the same door that everyone else is coming in through! So what's the point?. Way more needs putting in place seen as we can't get an online delivery done you should at least make it more safer to shop in your store. And for staff to learn to social distance from customers.

I called in here tonight, my first visit, enroute to the match. I watched as the people in the queue attempted to order food while being repeatedly told "We haven't gone any of that left". Eventually, they struck the jackpot and secured a meal. It was at this point that I realised that the woman serving was actually enjoying telling them that their first choice orders were unavailable? It then came to my turn and I then fully realised that the woman serving wanted to be anywhere rather working in Sainsburys at that moment. I asked for a white coffee she replied "Latte?", I said "No, just a white coffee please?" She replied " Americano?" I replied "a coffee with milk in" she replied with absolute certainty on her part "Americano". I then took my coffee and cake to my table only to find that they had served me with a black coffee. It was too much trouble to tell me that the milk was on a counter and I had to put my own in. We all encounter miserable, unhelpful disillusioned staff but this cafe takes it to the next level. Definitely my last visit.

Even though you are in huge supermarket that sells a huge variety of alternative milk's the only one you can purchase is soya, why? I appreciate you don't get your cafe food from the shop floor, but that is absolutely no excuse for not selling at least 3 different alternative milk's. As a person who has an allergy to dairy and soya the only drink I can buy is hot water. Not good enough in what is supposed to be the 21st centuary. Time you opened your eyes and moved with the times.

I went to Sainsbury cafe in Archer Road branch for my breakfast with family on 28/07/2019 morning. I asked one of girl staff to give me some napkin because there was not any in the napkin compartment. She replied to me very rudely with frosty face and "they are there". We ordered vegetarian sausages without beans for breakfast but breakfast came with with beans and pork sausages. Food was really greasy. If management read this review sort your staff behaviour and maintain food quality.

Ordered a pot of tea and a toasted teacake. After 15 minutes it hadn’t arrived so asked the staff member “ oh its definitely ordered” she said. Now, after half an hour i thought it was quite long enough to pop a teacake in a toaster and put this on a plate with a sachet butter. When i asked where it was she “yer were busy and your in a queue” but people came in after me and have been served. She just shrugged her shoulders. I said i couldn’t wait any longer and refund me and put the cash in he charity tin. Really bad experience. Want to get there act together with staffing levels.

Probably the worst supermarket cafe I have ever visited. Staff surly and complaining. Waited 10 mins just to place order when less than 4 people queuing.Ran out of cutlery Absolutely awful

Absolutely disgusting! I was served a prawn jacket potato with a salad which looked nice on 1st glance however the salad leaves were soggy brown and old underneath. To think they let it go out of the kitchen and tried to disguise with green leaves on top is disgusting for such a big name supermarket and The canteen is filthy.

Been to the cafe several times. At first it was ok, but the last few times it hasn't been all that great. Food cold, waiting ages for it to arrive, tables not cleaned. Disappointing experience.

Having been to the cafe here previously and not been too impressed I was prepared to give it another go today as we were visiting family and needed somewhere for a quick sandwich. There was a very limited choice of sandwiches, three baguettes, none of which were labelled to say what was in them! Nor did they have a date on them. My daughter and my husband had a bowl of chips with their sandwich, but left them as they were just warm, but dark and shrivelled. I think they had been heated up from yesterday. Only good thing was the coffee. Suffice to say we will not be eating here again. It's a shame as the shop itself is large, bright and modern - generally a pleasant place to shop, just shame about the cafe.

I like to be positive, and the large latte was superb. The food, however, was not. I had pie chips and peas. The pie was mostly pastry, but the filling, when I found it, was good. The chips were poor. Leathery and tasteless, I think they had spent hours under a heat lamp. My wife had sausage and mash. The sausages were ok but not great. The mash was suspiciously like something made from powder. We did like the fact that the cafe was almost deserted. As it was lunchtime, this spoke volumes.

I shop at sainsburys almost every week for my 'big' shop. I love the store...its clean, very spacious with wide aisles and well set out. Although its a bit pricier than some supermarkets (especially Lidl.. But then lidl doesn't stock everything like sainsburys does) it doesn't seem to be as expensive as it used to be, in fact they do have some fantastic offers on! The restaurant is very good, I am quite addicted to their toasted teacakes! The household goods are quite tempting to buy too, the way they are displayed makes me want to purchase! All in all, a very pleasant place to shop.

The reason I've put this little restaurant as one of the best in the area is because even though it's basic, people like me who are gluten intolerant don't have to battle to be fed. The staff are lovely, and are very helpful. This is one of my favourite bolt holes at dinner time on a Thursday and I know even with my problems with gluten I still have a good meal. I can now enjoy going to the shops again and having a treat in a cafe and I don't feel like a second class citizen because of gluten. Thank you Sainsbury's for going that extra mile.

Came in after a long day of walking in the Peak District and needed more snacks. Wasn't all that impressed by the dirt, dust and bits of debris strewn about the floor. The boy who took the order greeted us with all the enthusiasm of a secret arch-nemesis. There's a fairly extensive mention of milkshakes, waffles, ice creams, cakes and other unhealthy options. Ordered 2 Mint Aero cheesecake milkshakes. Both were good, but will not be coming back due to the general messiness of the place.

Sandwiches - sensational! Desserts - delicious! Service - superb! I tend to visit Olive Grove Sandwich Bar every week-or-so. They make a perfect chicken and bacon mayo sandwich with salad. Plus a cornflake cake tart which is to die for. Highly recommended.
