Cafe defo deserves more than a 3.5 The all day breakfast is one of the best in bury and for a fiver you can't compare Staff are sound and it's a chilled vibe in the cafe, can't complain for a supermarket

Gone down hill , asked for fish and chips used to be prober fish from fish shop wish I have enjoyed which is why I came back, now frozen fish from freezer, 🙁 never again

Really gone down hill. I used to come here when I had to do trips to the hospital a lot but I won't be going there again! The food was awful. My child's mash potatoes looked like it had been reheated several times and I wouldn't feed it to my dog. The cutlery was dirty. The coffee was so bitter they clearly don't clean out the machine. Generally not as very good visit.

I go to the café on Monday and Thursday, because my mum works late so I go to the café just to get a hot meal, even though they close at five, they decided to close the kitchen at three because they are low on staff or just close, just because for other reasons and that’s annoys me because I was looking for a meal after a long day of work😡

2 stars because the young fella that bought our meals out was lovely. Ordered fish and chips and meat free chicken tikka. We were informed after we had sat down there was no tikka, so re-ordered veg lasagna. Oh Sainsburys...what has happened to your Cafe?? We used to enjoy meals there, what we ordered was truly awful. No veg apart from a tomato sauce in the lasagna, and the fish and chips were quite awful. Won't be going back

Tasty breakfast and cafe and all very cheap

We were the first customers of the day in the cafe and the food came out cold back to the north end cafe in town centre next week

Attempted to go shopping here with one other member of THE SAME HOUSEHOULD as we dont drive and neither of us could carry the shopping on our own but we’re rudely told we’re not allowed in by a member of staff and security guard who were clueless, neither were wearing PPE or offering any cleaning services (e.g. cleaning trolleys/ hand sanitiser) when I queried why we weren’t allowed in They couldn’t answer just replying “only one person allowed in”, which is ridiculous considering we were from the Same household so therefore would be worse if we were 2 people from 2 different households, which I also told them and they again rudely replied “well all the shops are the same” which is false given I also work in a supermarket and have shopped at all the others in the area and not one of them have told us we can’t shop together, I informed them that was false and they finally replied “ shop somewhere else then” - great customer service that is, wont be going back

Freezing cold in this cafe...will not bother to go in there again.

So was desperate to have a wee, toilets by the tills was blocked off as per usual!Cafe toilets was discusting, first of all dirty! They seem to have not been renovated for quite some years. Have Sainsburys really have no money to get it done so customers feel comfortable using toilets when needed during shopping or after coffee at the cafe?

Only four stars because the air conditioner was on so we were cold, also the Xmas music was too loud we strained to hear what was being said to each other. I was there with 2 friends for coffee, which was nice and a good price. A friend and I had a jacket potato with veg chilli and that was very nice too. Will go back again 😊

This must be one of the poorest supermarket Coffee Shops in the UK. They must read these reviews which are terrible. The food on offer is terrible, unhealthy and bears no resemblance to our beautiful market town of Bury St Edmunds. I had a terrible experience and write to customer complaints and just as you would imagine, no response. The supermarket itself has a musty smell about it and the Deli is full of plastic water injected meat .. in other words, like the coffee shop, the store is a dump. I bet £1.000 that sales this year have declined .. anyway .. that’s me. Tesco and Waitrose are far superior

Today was not a good day! Although the cafe was not full it still took an hour for lunch to arrive.

No windows / dull décor / not a very pleasant place to eat.

Cafe says it closes at 7pm tonight we get there at 6.20 to be told the only hot food they can do is chips, enquired if they could do ham, eggs and chips, kitchen says no just chips, really how hard is it to fry eggs?? Whilst in there customers were taking jacket potatoes back because they were cold and hard. Not a good experience of Sainsbury cafe.

Slow service. Can't even get porridge right. Why do majority of sainsbury's staff look so miserable?

Not an overly exciting menu but delivers a range of staples at a reasonable cost.

Nice friendly and helpful staff. I dislike runny fried eggs, tell the person serving and they will ensure that your food is cooked the way you like it! Good value for money. Very clean but lacking a little bit of ambience.

5 people all non English asked if wanted car washed then made some joke in own language and all had a good laugh.sainsburys get a grip and stop these people just wanna shop not get chased around gives Sainsburys a very m Bad name

Went in for lunch today, had an omelette and salad which was very nice.

I'm sorry but the process of ordering is to slow. I've walked away several times in the past because of the queuing time and that's just to order!

A lovely place for a meal, snack or just a cuppa. The staff are friendly and you will get the impression you are individual. I am returning soon just for the customer service.

Well the title says it all. Amazed that members of staff don’t realise you should toast a bagel not stick it in the furnace. As for the service, I’d get better service off my dying blind nan.

Called in for breakfast one Saturday and wish we hadn't bothered. The service was excruciatingly slow. There was only one person serving and it took a good 30 minutes to get to the till, only to be told that the food would take another 25 minutes to arrive. As we had already queued and were fast losing the will to live, we decided to wait. When the food eventually arrived, it was just bland and not at all tasty. Will not go back again.

I usually pop into this coffee shop after I’ve done my shopping. The staff always seem so busy and understaffed. It’s okay if you just want a coffee and pack of biscuits. I’ve never had a meal here, because the cooked food always looks dry and over cooked. It’s okay as a coffee shop !

I ordered jacket potato and prawns and the potato was so small it didn't cover the palm of my hand and i have small hands. I said to the older man on the till that my jacket potato is the smallest I've ever had and he said oh sorry about that but didn't offer to change or look at it and the macaroni cheese was bland and looked like it had come from a can as not crispy or cheesy on top. I took photos of the food as couldn't believe it.

I shop at Sainsburys for organic chicken, beef, bacon & eggs, tomatoes, long life organic milk, in particular but I always find offers for other products, clothes are nice & boots. I like sainsburys low salt yeast extract, its yummy. Then I get petrol & free air for in my car tyres & free water to top up my squirties, Staff are always polite and helpful.

when with family. orederd food. waited 1 hour and 10 mins - did try to spped them up but waitress useless. food arried after 1 hour and 10 mins later. cold and poor quality. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN

We popped out on Boxing Day morning for a walk and decided to try the café for breakfast. The selection was very good and the service fast. The member of staff who served us managed to remember 5 different drinks and was multitasking the whole time. More importantly she was observed wiping down the coffee machine between each drink. The café was spotless. Highly recommend the the 'super scrambled eggs'. The child's breakfast is amazing value too.

I’d regularly have a meal in this Sainsburys restaurant before doing my weekly shop.

Called in to get four pints of milk ended up having taste the difference sausage and mash peas and gravy in the SAINSBURYS cafe ordered my dinner with pot of decaf tea and sat down only to realise that the restaurant had no heating so I asked the waitress and she obliged and put the heating on very helpful

Sunday breakfast here at Sainsburys Café in Bury St Edmunds. The staff were great - but the breakfast was NOT! By the time my brekky arrived my pot of tea had gone cold. The toast was soggy (barely toast at all), and the scrambled eggs slightly underdone! On the plus side the bacon was yummy!

This store has friendly helpful assistants and a very good range of stock. They also reduce various items of food at the end of the day so some good bargains can be bought.

Usually run straight through on the A14 to sisters but toilet break required due to long road works on Bar Hill near Cambridge.

Stopped here for lunch numerous times with my mum and baby. Always busy, which I generally think is a good sign. Selection of sandwiches etc, and a good selection of hot foods too. Lovely cakes, coffees and milkshakes! No complaints, we always enjoy this cafe.

It does what it says on the tin, snacks OK, lunches looked OK. Coffee fair to middling, atmosphere non existent, but for a disabled husband who hates shopping a great retreat.

I try and avoid this cafe whenever possible but sometimes it is unavoidable (like when you have two screaming babies to feed!).

My only suggestion would be to make sure you have plenty of time !! Took me 10 minutes to pay for a sandwich & drink. Appreciate that I went at a busy time but this should be recognised by management & staffed adequately! I won't be returning.

I recently stopped into the cafe at Sainsbury's when I was picking up a few grocery items. The cafe is typical of supermarket in house eateries, and has a bit of a school canteen feel. The menu offerings are breakfast based until 11:30 am, and lunch based (jacket potatoes, etc) thereafter. There was a wide variety of cakes and pastries on offer, and soft drinks were available as well as coffee and tea. The latte was on the strong side, but good. Some veggy breakfast items were overcooked. All in all, a good place for a break when shopping, but not for planned dining.

35 minutes to heat up a panini. People getting fed up and leaving. Asking for refund on hot food orders. Badly organised. Poorly run. Salesperson didn't seem bothered. Won't be back.

I stopped for brunch on the way to the Broads. The big breakfast was excellent. Very nice with an added mushroom. The toast was made with proper bloomer bread. It was so nice I asked what bread it was and picked up a loaf at the bakery to take with me. They also did two sausages to take out for my dogs, neatly packaged in a takeaway container.

Good isles, wine choice fair, food my wife does that, but has a good pharmacy , newspapers, cards, etc. Coffee shop a bit uninviting, used once but has no atmosphere. Very basic. Car parking good, petrol station good and very busy. Good location.

Cheap eats Cafe/Resturant on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds. The staff do their best but tables are slow to be cleared and I would NOT recommend the vegetarian breakfast as the soya sausage is always hard. I have never eaten it. It is what it is, a Cafe in a Supermarket. Great to feed the kids on a budget. Look out for special offers.

Its is very ordinary but clean, coffee acceptable, clean and not too noisy. I am disabled so find this refuge in a supermarket is far better that sitting in the car

No surprises here. Clean topilets, basic refreshments, usual gaggles of pensioners and families with young children on a budget.

Thinking the food/service wouldn't be up to much, but being in a hurry, we decided to have lunch in ?Sainsburys Cafe.

Have stopped in here for coffee a number of times. Coffee good cakes good. Pleasant staff and always helpful. However, area is poor with no natural light, ie, no windows, it's like being in a box. Certainly needs a rethink on design.

We popped for lunch after shopping on Sunday. There was a good selection of hot food. The cutlery in the self-service booth was dirty. The food took a long time to arrive. Lots of the tables were uncleared. My chips weren't properly cooked. The staff were pleasant and the food was cheap. I felt they were under staffed for the amount of customers. Overall I was disappointed.

We were passing through Bury St. Edmunds on the A14 and diverted to Sainsbury's to do some food shopping. We went to their café for lunch and were delighted to find a comprehensive range of hot meals at what were really bargain prices. There was a choice of about 7 or 8 hot main meals and we also bought a couple of strawberry tarts, with fresh cream to follow which were outstanding. The hot meals (around £5 each) were beautifully cooked and very tasty. Waitress service was quite quick (around 10 minutes) and getting two excellent two course meals for just over £13 did not break the bank. Highly delighted customers!
