First time visiting this evening amazing food and service will definitely be returning.

We visited Lymm by narrow boat and wanted to eat out. We have eaten in various places in Lymm before, which were fine, but I never felt so impressed as to write a review. Access to Sahib is down a little alley way. The restaurant is upstairs, the staff were very welcoming on arrival and very helpful. The menu was varied, and I chose to have something I had not tried before, which is apparently a house special/invention. Both my husband and I enjoyed our meals immensely and will go back again when passing. The owner who was serving wad very pleasant and interesting to chat too. I can definitely recommend a visit here. Our dishes are not on the list below I had a Cham Cham and my husband had a small prawn dupiaza.

Me and my friend went Friday and had a great meal,service was fast and the food was great,I’m from Bolton so I know a good curry and this place was up there,owner and chefs where nice as well talking to us about Bolton and just a general nice guy,will definitely return when back in the area

This is the original curry house in lymm and is hidden away. If you want the best curry in lymm it's from here, I personally love the King Akbari Cham Cham. The staff are always friendly as it is a family run buisness and it shows.

We booked Sahib for our social evening. We were greeted warmly and shown to our seats. There were 11 of us in our party but we were all catered for on the same row of tables. The service was great, the food was great and the only reason I've scored low on the atmosphere is because there weren't many people in. People don't realise what they're missing though. We'll definitely be back. All the best from Lymm HC Masters team.

Always nice to stop off here for a curry when I’m back in Lymm

I bought food from this place during the Lymm Food Festival, for what I got, the Mix tray consisting of rice, a samosa, an onion bhaji a bit of curry and a chickpea side costing £13. It was not good, compared to at that event over many years it would have cost something like £6 max 20 years ago. But my real issue is that despite being capable to take card payments as a takeaway and restaurant. They were the only/ few stalls who were refusing cards. This was inconveniencing not just me but, given the amount of people at the event, near 100 at a guestimate. There was no signage either. People were having to leave food and search for cash at the 1 cash machine in the centre of the village. The Chinese restaurant at least is very clearly signed about that.

Great authentic Indian food, coupled with friendly staff. What more d’you want? In fact, we’re going again tomorrow!

Cold place and very quiet indeed. Staff friendly enough but as for another visit. Well maybe nearer spring summer when it’s warmer as the building was very cold indeed.

King Akbari Cham Cham I was staying in the area, bad journey, M6 closed and delayed in tailbacks. Bad bad day. Got to my over night stay late and needed food. Stumbled upon this takeaway (also a restaurant). A lovely friendly guy in the kitchen saw me waiting to order and served me. I order the King Akbari Cham Cham. Bliss. Delicious. Everything it said it was on the menu. Very hospitable and friendly staff, tasty and wholesome indian food. Highly recommended (if only from one meal) Good good day!

This place has a lot of competition in Lymm village with its many restaurants but it constantly smashes it. The food is delicious -always. It’s in a magical little fairy-lit courtyard area surrounded by sandstone cliffs. The owner is friendly and kind and he even gave us a lift home when our taxi didn’t turn up. Absolutely top notch place. Would recommend it.

I am writing this to let people know that we had booked a 4 person table months in advance and on the evening I called to check the time and according to the internet it was open. There was a message saying they are closed with no reason.

I would highly recommend Sahib to eat in or for takeaway. The food is fantastic, generous portion sizes & absolutely delicious! The service is great, all staff are welcoming, friendly & polite! They have had a bit of a refurbishment during lockdown too to update their decor! It is such a hidden gem tucked away in the centre of lovely Lymm village!

I used this for a takeaway. It was the first time I have eaten from there and it was really good. Flavoursome and for 3 people £48. The food was much more original than most Indian takeaway establishments. As in they make the individual curries rather than one sauce fits all.

We headed back to Sahib during the brief hiatus from lockdown last year and I have been meaning to review since. The onion bhajis are out of this world, the Cham Cham is really some kind of witchcraft as it starts sweet with a heat building but never too hot. Had me sweating! Great, always a bit haphazard but that is part of the charm. No doubt this is the best Indian restaurant in Lymm, I just wish they delivered.

Its a couple of years since we had any food from her so decided to get a take away just to see how the food was. I can say that all the dishes we ordered were excellent and I would not hesitate to go there or get food from them again.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were the first customers so we had the chance to chat to the head waiter. I couldn't decide what dish to go for so I asked for one that contained my favourite ingredients :- Plenty of coriander, garlic, chilli and lots of ginger. When it arrived, it was exactly what I asked for. It was delicious. I couldn't fault it. I was so thrilled that my request had been accommodated. I can imagine that this may be difficult during extra busy periods but it made the meal so special for me. I really appreciated it. Thank you Sahib First class service and first class food

Really lovely food. We went in late New Years eve, expecting just to get a take away, but no they sat us down and served us. The food was lovely, but we were full and took our doggy bag home. Happy New Year.

Six of us met here for a delicious meal and were not disappointed. Plenty of options to choose from and something for everyone. Generous portions and great quality food with fabulous service. Will definitely be coming back!

Food and service very good. No central heating in dining room. Just a small 2kw fan heater. We coped though!

This place is great. I took my young daughters for their first Indian restaurant visit and the staff were brilliant. The restaurant was a little bit cold but they had not long opened. The food, as ever, was very good. Don't bother with the new spice lounge. They can't even be bothered to open on time. Sahib is the best.

We ordered a take out from here by accident in all honesty. And we could not have been more disappointed with our meal. There was absolutely no taste of Indian food in the meals. Both the starter and main were bland .. No heat no spice. We had ordered chicken chat and a chicken Karahi. And both tasted like chicken in tomato and onion sauce. The chutney were small and watery. There just wasn't enough for 4 poppadums. This was our worst experience ever and will not be repeated.

We visited the restaurant as we had been let down by one of the so called fancy restaurants we were meet by a real friendly waiter who was very attentive and took us through the menu This is a no frills traditional Indian with great service and food.please support this place as it looks like its being pushed out by the flash corporate brigade

The food in Sahib is amazing and the staff are incredibly kind. The place is hidden but amazing. We have been coming here for about 17 years and have realisised that it is a great resturant and even does takeways. It's not known enough and is truly a pleasure to visit.

Folks, we had food organised with the Sahib for our Saturday night function and the feedback from the players and visitors was fantastic. Excellent King Akbari Cham Cham and Lamb Karahi, Chanda Massala and Vegatable Bhuna. Great stuff

One of the best Indian meals I've had for a while. The chef's special King Akbari Cham Cham was delicious, the kulfi good too.

Staying in lymm for one night . Was recommended by a local , what a great place , staff were really friendly, service & food was great , worth a visit . We will be back !

Fabulous food. Hot tasty and plentiful. The host was a lovely friendly man and the service was excellent.

Visited with friends food was disgusting. Definitely not cooked the same day and been microwaved.

We ordered a takeaway. We visit the town often on our narrowboat. The reviews looked good and so we ordered the Thalia Kana set Meal for two.priced 24.95. As per the menu we expected small portions of several different dishes. The separate dishes came in standard sized cartons...full of sauce with very little solid content.The lamb bhuna had very little meat and much uncooked vile onion.Very little taste difference from each carton of overflowing sauce.We both agreed this was the worst Indian meal we have ever had.Staff were friendly but food is the most important factor.

The one thing I love about Sahib restaurant is that not only is the food excellent and the willingness to be flexible an asset, I got exactly what I wanted. In fact all four of our group were extremely suited with our meals. However the fish Shaslik with a chickpea curry was fabulous. We will be back again with out a doubt. Visited Sahib with a group of 8, welcomed into the restaurant and looked after, the staff member really helped me sticky to my Slimming world plan, served me a generous tasty salad and gorgeous chicken pieces, Nothing was too much trouble, thank you.

I booked Sahib for a get together with colleagues. Booking was easy and when I called to make changes to numbers and confirm it was no problem. We were made very welcome and served our drinks very quickly. One of our group had an issue and was very late, this was no problem and we were served delicious poppadums and dips, whilst we waited. Jahid suggested that we order a banquet so that we could try various dishes which was perfect. We had 2 vegetarians in the group and every effort was made to accommodate them with each course. The food was fantastic it was hot, and very tasty, I prefer a korma which was made specially for me and was the best I had ever tasted. We all had a lovely evening, great service fantastic food and a very friendly atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble for the team at Sahib. Thank you for a great night.

Service great. Food ok. Restaurant is a bit run down in need of a makeover... Will try the other restaurant in the village next before deciding if i go back to this one again.

We've been to the restaurant here on a few occasions over the past few years. It was fairly busy on this occasion, and the room much warmer than I remember with fan heaters strategically placed around. Service was pleasant and friendly, although less attentive as the room became busy. Food was okay - reasonable quantity of meat in each dish, but everything tasted mild, even the food advertised as hot.

Order most weeks and we always find it a friendly, fast and accurate service. King Akbrari Cham Cham is our favourite.

Good food as usual but it is starting to get a bit expensive. We had popadoms to start then wife had samosas then we had tandoori mix with nan and lamb Rogan josh.

Use Sahib for the occasional take out and tbh would prob give this a 3-4 rating as not bad for the price.

Tried Sahib for the first time and it didn’t disappoint! Everyone enjoyed their take aways and they accommodate personal preferences to meet taste! Friendly staff and we will be back!

My son had salmon curry which was tasty and fish not overcooked. All other choices were beautiful both in presentation and flavour. Great night with friendly waiters.

The owner is a very pleasant and obviously a successful man. But otherwise he is just like us all, wanting the best for his kids, wishing the best for everyone. I liked the way he asked how we liked our meals to be cooked. So we got really nice thick daal. lovely naan, a hot curry for my wife and a great lamb dhansak for me. It reminded me of being a 20 something in Kings Heath, Birmingham some years ago eating at my favourite curry house. My wife is from Winton, Manchester and we both prefer the typical curry houses of our era not the bright, white jazz playing ones that you see more of. All in all a nice clean, welcoming and enjoyable Bangladesh/Indian restaurant.

Lymm has a proliferation of restaurants these days, several of them are curry houses. My favourite curry house is the Sahib, I have been going there for years, probably about once a month. Sometimes we eat in but more often we get a take away. Jared and his team are a friendly bunch and the food is always good. It has a delightfully quirky hidden-away setting but it is well worth the trouble of finding it. If you are visiting Lymm, and fancy a curry, this is certainly a good bet for a nice meal. Hmm, I'm starting to feel hungry just writing this review...

The food was very over priced and awful in a place that hasn't been redecorated since the seventies.

I know everyone has different tastes and favourites when it comes to Indian food but I have to say that after moving to Lymm over 13 yrs ago, Sahib has been totally consistent in respect of quality, flavour, texture, service, everything! The takeaway is also excellent restaurant quality and I would think of going anywhere else. Whilst the rest fold and reinvent themselves in a different name (but same behind the scenes) Sahib is still there as good as ever. Can't fault it. 23 yr anniversary is saying something....

The Sahib reminds me of the Indian restaurants I started eating in many years ago, but that is not a bad thing. It is quiet, the staff are very polite and helpful, the food is good & the beer is cold. We ate with friends and all the dishes (meat and vegetarian) we had were tasty and generous. The pilau rice had good flavour, the naans were cooked to perfection and the poppadoms were crunchy. We are not fans of some of the nouvelle cuisine style trendy Indian restaurants so the Sahib fits the bill for us. If you like Indian food served in style and an atmosphere redolent of the 1970's then give this a try. We certainly love it.

Me and my wife came for a meal on wednesday night , the Food was Excellent , we had Lamb Rogan Josh,and Chicken Pathia both superb, staff were friendly great service , we will return

Soft bendy poppadoms didn't start off the experience well. Chicken chat with no flavour. And biryani ... awful. We have voted with our feet and we will never step foot in your takeout again. There are far too many good Indian delights available in the area. Maybe you need to go and taste and experience some of your competitors food. Or maybe this was not your night. We won't bother wasting our time or money to find out.

I have been going to this restaurant for years and it is always excellent. I usually get takeaway - if you like spice, the samber is delicious, and best rogan josh I've had. Friendly service and quiet atmosphere if you eat in.

Arrived at around 7.30 on a Saturday night, walked into an empty restaurant.

Once again a superb takeaway. I really can't fault Sahib as a takeaway. Granted they aren't the cheapest, but the food is always great. Akbari Cham Cham and a Jalfrezi, yes please. Perfect. Always fast, super friendly, and great food.

My sister and I went to Sahib Indian Restaurant tonight to celebrate her being home from Amsterdam. She was craving a good curry so we came here. She has been before but I haven't. We ordered a main to share with sides and drinks. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food turned up extremely quickly and was absolutely delicious. The price was very reasonable too. We had a lovely time and was welcomed by the staff. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a lovely authentic Indian meal :)

Comimos aquí durante el fin de semana ya había sido previamente y lo disfrutamos, el personal era muy agradable y atento, entrantes eran excelentes y muy agradable, había un pequeño problema con uno de nuestros principales campos que no era muy bueno y parecía ser el plato equivocado de lo que pedí pero el personal manejó esta pequeña queja muy bien. Esto no nos impidió volver o recomendar este restaurante indio.

Good to meet friend who has moved here. Enjoyable food: good onion bhajis to start. Chicken nawabi was ok. Sauce a bit bland. Service good & quite friendly. Bill a bit steep for 3. But enjoyed it. Good curry.

I ate in the Sahib last night and the food was very good, the waiter asked what Indian food I usually had after I had mentioned I would like to try something different and he suggested the King Akbari Cham Cham and I was not disappointed when it came out. Will definitely be going again during my stay in Lymm.

Visit here for a takeaway every now and then. Foods always nice ' tasty & Hot. The place itself is very dated and old fashioned. Could do with a boost maybe. Service average.

Traditional Indian Restaurant in the village centre. The restaurant is down a passageway and upstairs. Decor is like stepping back to the 1970's. Service is friendly but chaotic and let's just say the wine list is illustrative. The actual selection is fairly random. In fact they were a little shocked when we ordered a whole bottle. 'A bottle?' Shrieked the young waiter, 'I'll get the big man'. But if you take it in the spirit in which it is offered the food is very good. You won't get fancy modern Asian fusion here just good old fashioned curry but they do it pretty well. Onion bhajis are amazing.

Absolutely horrendous. ...... From the starters it was poor and then got progressively worse ... Shocking service. .. 1970 menu and served cold .... Avoid at all costs ..This place puts crap restaurants on the map ....Disgusting

They say this restaurant was established in 1994, I think everything else inside the restaurant was too! The decor inside is really drab and stuck in the 90's. The cutlery looks is incredibly worn and looks like it's been used thousands of times over the years, as does the crockery. The food was decidedly average too. Such a shame, as the location of the restaurant is lovely and if modernised I'm sure it would have had more people in it than just us on an evening

Polite staff greeted us, with a portion of Papadums to share whilst waiting for our take away meal. The food was delicious, and each dish was large enough to also have for lunch the following day. So tasty!

Great food and service, menus and decor could do with a revamp, prices were reasonable and my madras was absolutely spot on. We will be back!

This is the only Indian restaurant I will use these days for eating in or takeaway, much better than the others in Lymm by far. The food is always consistent and the service good. Highly recommended.

Very authentic food .. Delicious without the added unnecessary food colouring which was good . Very dated environment and cheap paper napkins etc. Menu leaflets were shabby and need replacing . Very quiet for a Saturday night but got a little busier later in. Excellent, polite service and friendly welcoming staff . Get past the decor and you'll have a great meal and night out!

Decor in this place is stuck in the 80's! So old and dates. Swag curtains and patterned carpet. Just average food nothing special, empty, no atmosphere, several drinks on menu out of stock.Shame because location in village is great just wasted on this place. If you want Indian restaurant Jahan is much better, won't be coming here again

Bank holiday Monday, and an early dinner for myself, meant that I didn't have to wait, I was recommended the prawn starter by the waiter and it was very tasty. Then Bhindi Ghosht for my main course, lamb was cooked perfectly, and the Okra was fresh. Can't understand why the restaurant is so quiet when the food is so good, there was a steady stream of locals collecting carry outs.Will visit again.

The food and staff at this place are amazing. We always use Sahib if we want a take away as the Sahib Special is the nicest curry I've had anywhere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I never really understand why the restaurant side is not more busy. The takeaway business is brisk and the food is good. It is therefore hard to score it higher due to its quiet atmosphere. The waiters, however are always chatty and efficient. Worth a try in my book...takeaway or eat in.

Have used this restaurant for over 10 years now and always found the service and food great. Not the best for atmosphere to sit down but we ALWAYS use the take away !!!

The restaurant was empty at the time of arrival but it was 22:30 on a Thursday evening we started with popadoms which came with plenty of onions and sauces. I had the Lamb Rogan Josh and the wife had Tandoori Platter both were very good indeed and ate every bit the service was quick and very pleasant a enjoyable evening with great food.

I love Sahib, I receive consistently excellent cuisine, quality ingredients and extremely accommodating staff. Take away and dine in are always a pleasure.

This place is run by the rudest person I have ever met. Was empty (always a good indicator) and the food was so bland, we ordered 3 different dishes and all tasted the same. Avoid!!!!

Came for a meal for my birthday and there was no treat involved here.Entrance through a courtyard was very enchanting. Then the magic stopped.The decor is tired and the layout is different to say the least.Order ,food,ready for main, food .That quick. Gosh you had to hold ya breath the movement of the meal was that fast.They took the hot plate away then served the main? I asked for it to be replaced, which they did however we then had to ask for it to be lit.Food was average at bestExpensive for what we gotNot going again......

As a regular visitor to the Sahib, both for takeaway and restaurant, I can honestly say that it consistently delivers wonderful food and friendly service. Everything is freshly cooked and spiced to your requirements - I can recommend their speciality Akbari Cham Cham (spicy but creamy chicken dish). Easily the best Indian in Lymm and surrounding area.

Went early one Saturday evening with my wife and son. I had the Sahib special, wife had a Biryani and my son had a recommendation from the waiter. Mine was as good a dish as I have had anywhere and my wife and son were both very happy with their meals. Service was good and there was also a decent choice of wine. Prices were slightly higher than your average curry house but I thought it was well worth it. Would definitely go again.
