Sagorika in Crawley

We had to wait ages to be served when there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant. It was freezing cold and I had to put my coat on. When the food eventually came it was very poor quality served by a waiter in dirty clothes (not just a bit of a spill in grained grime). I wouldn't go there again ever.

We went to this restaurant for the first time today. The welcome was nice, we felt comfortable. The food was very good, hot fresh, nice flavours, well presented. Very pleasant staff. Things to address, white wine needs to be chilled (I needed to add ice to my wine to cool it down) but that was minor. The bill for the two of us including beers and wine was very reasonable. Would we go back ? Hell yes!

This is our local Indian restaurant which luckily for us is within a ten minute walk. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and there is always a warm welcome from the manager Jubz. The food is too die for, portion sizes are generous and reasonably priced. They do deliver locally or you can collect and receive a 15% discount on orders over £10 + a free Bombay aloo. I would totally recommend this restaurant.

Last time I was here was 10 years ago when it was called The Sakura. Now it's still owned by the same family, the booths have gone and it's had a lick of paint. I went on the coldest day of the year so far and it was chilly inside. The one fan heater on the wall couldn't cope. However food was hot, tasty and way cheaper than in town. Waiter was friendly. Thanks! Will return

We booked a table here for 4 adults and 3 kids for an early dinner - from the moment we arrived it was like a scene from faulty towers - on arrival there was a lot of young adults on the parade outside and they were smoking and drinking and one guy was even hunched over passed out on a park bench chair outside one of the shops lower down obviously too much alcohol. We had just booked a table but they had made this little buffet and saying they did it because we booked a table - we declined and opted for the A La Carte menu. We ordered and found the service quite slow. The food I had was a tandoori lamb starter - this was the most tasteless thing ever I think maybe they had run out of spice for the tandoori seasoning. Next was the main course and I had the butter chicken which I am very familiar with. I was presented with what I can only describe as Korma. One of the other adults at the table had a korma and he does not like hot spicy food so we compared dishes and could not tell the difference apart. I called the waiter and asked him what I had and he confirmed as butter chicken and I told him it was a coconut sauce identical to a korma and he said yes they are both coconut based and very similar. but the menu says its different anyway I just gave up at that point as it was without a doubt THE WORST Indian meal I have ever had and would never return there again and would not recommend it to anyone

Oímos a través de tripadvisor a 4.49 Sagorika y decidimos pagar una visita. Los camareros eran muy dispuestos a tomar en nosotros. Pero parece sincero. También el interior era acogedor y atractivo. La comida estaba sirviendo fue relativamente rápido. El sabor era realmente genial! Sin duda nos encantaría volver de nuevo.

We went out for a birthday dinner and ate in the restaurant rather than takeaway. The restaurant was fairly quiet but took over 45 mins for our main course to arrive however when it did arrive it was with the wait. The food is very good and reasonably priced too

went there with my sister , food was really fresh and tasty ,service was excellent . would recommend anyone to try this place

Visited tonight for their new buffet. Usual great meal, basic menu but plenty of it, eat as much of you like for £9.95. Very tasty classic cooking. Miah is a very friendly and helpful Maitre D. I love the music too. Thanks to all again!

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years, for a number of reasons, the overriding of which is the cost. If you go on a Sunday (as I normally do!) it is exceptional value; poppadums and dips, any starter, any main, any rice or naan AND any side dish for under £7!!!! There is a similar (slightly dearer) offer on Tuesdays too...The portions are generous and buying them as part of the offer doesn't mean they short-change you, size-wise. Staff are friendly, and I have never had a bad meal here. There is a very wide selection of dishes, with all curries being available with vegetable options listed for all, which is good (some restaurants fail to include this on the menu, even though most can actually do it if requested). The food always tastes very fresh and homemade, and cannot be faulted. However, the only bad thing I would say about this restaurant is the service. Be warmed; it is SLOW. Even if you go there on a quiet night (as I often have!) with only one or two tables occupied, it still seems to take an inordinate amount of time for a) staff to take your order and b) them to actually bring it to you. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food, on the condition that they're not in a rush!

At last an Indian restaurant that concentrates on flavour without chucking large amounts of chilli powder everywhere! The chef concentrates on the blending of spices for a first rate meal, heat without the burn! This place without doubt is now the best place for Indian cuisine in Crawley. The staff are friendly and engaging , the establishment is clean and welcoming and the prices are very very reasonable indeed. Go on a Sunday evening for a five course special for two people and expect to pay a shade under £30 including soft drinks and coffee....bargain! A family run business with their eye on quality...very refreshing. Their take away is just as good and a simple to use website that is clear and concise to use. Will definitely return because it doesn't get much better. Well done keep,it up!

We had not been here before and had struggled to find a curry house we liked since moving to the area... we finally found one!! The 6 of us all really enjoyed our curries - authentic taste and lots of flavour. Will definitely be ordering again. Warm welcome as well when we picked it up - very impressed :-)

We have been visiting this hidden gem for a couple of years now. The owner/manager is a lovely man, so happy to welcome you & even remembers your choice of drink & favourite table. All staff are friendly & helpful & go out of their way to deliver a great service. And now the food. It's AMAZING! So tasty, authentic & will be tailored to your taste on request. It's lovely - that's why we return so often. The value & quality rivals the local competitors. First class. We're going again Sunday!

This has become our favourite restaurant. Visited again tonight and was well looked after by Miah our very welcoming waiter. We had a really lovely meal on the Sunday night offer with a few extras as we were very hungry. We came away very satisfied. Miah's dad is the chef and he cooked everything to perfection. Thanks again for a lovely meal. Definitely would recommend. They do deliveries now and a special offer for this month on different days in the week

1st class food, owners are very welcoming and menu is reasonably priced. I've tried other curries within the area and not one comes close....highly recommend!!

Really authentic Indian cuisine. Everything cooked to order and tasted really fresh. Dishes beautifully spiced. A very enjoyable meal!

This has become our most favourite place for an Indian meal for Sunday nights. Last night there were 16 of us and although the meal was a long time coming it was to be expected with so many of us. They must have been working so hard in the kitchen to bring it out all at once, and the lovely friendly waiter was giving his usual brilliant service. As usual the food was lovely. Well done again! We shall see you again soon perhaps without so many friends next time

Visited as a group on 9, 5 adults and 4 teenagers. We were the only people in the restaurant. It was fantastic. The food was great. They even tweaked a curry to suit one of our party.

A group of 3 of us popped in there one Thursday evening recently. None of us had tried it before but as always with an untried curry house, expectations were set at midway (helps eliminate disappointment). Sadly we were greeted by a largely empty restaurant, in fact only one couple eating quietly in one corner. This dropped the expectation level dramatically, but, as it turns out, wrongly! The menu was suitably varied with chef specials, plus the usual favourites you'd expect from a restaurant of this type. By the time we'd ordered the other couple had left & we were the only clients for the rest of the evening leaving the place a bit shy on ambience. The food though was very nice, served hot, with good portion sizes. Definitely warranted a busier restaurant, -especially at those prices. All in all a thoroughly good evening. It is worth noting that the toilets are a bit tired, but everything else was good.

We went here with friends on a Sunday and had the £6.95 special meal. It was brilliant. Not huge portions but definitely worth it. You have Poppdoms with pickles, starter, main, side/naan, rice. I had the tikka lamb, Nepalese chicken, Samali daal and plain rice. It was lovely. Only another two couples there. The chef came out and explained what some of the dishes were. The waiter was friendly and helpful. All In all it was a lovely meal and well worth it. Our friends were very impressed too.

Lovely friendly local curry house with great food. Children love it here too. We are regulars here and will continue to come here

Went for a meal, had not been for a while, its now under new management, but same chef, great meal, great service, not rushed, goes to prove "if it ain't broke , don't fix it" Recommend it , great value as well

I have been using this restaurant since it first opened which must be well over twenty years ago and it has never disappointed me!It's not always very busy but that should not put you off. The staff are polite and very informative.Give it a go you will love it!

We have visited Sangorika several times now & we are returning this evening for the fantastic food, service & value. Always friendly, always delicious. Welcoming atmosphere & a lovely experience. I recommend you give it a go!

We visited here on a Thursday evening while waiting to collect someone from the airport, we were the only people in there, the service was excellent no pressure to order quick, very good waiter. The food was served quickly with nice size portions made to accommodate any special requests as I didn't want lots of peppers, the food was delicious and we both enjoyed it very much. Would definitely visit here again if in the vicinity

Not bad. But nothing special. I preferred it when it had the little booths. Now it's crammed with tables.

Sunday Deal - poppadoms, pickles, starter, main, rice or naan and side £6.95, excellent value and good food. Service a little slow but there were 19 of us, had a lovely time thank you, will be back again soon.

The name has changed but the food was good. The restaurant may be suffering from marketing issues as the South Indian Garlica chicken with extra chillies was amazing. I would advise people to make use of this restaurant as the food is not over priced and it is a shame that the management are able to market their business the way they need to.

Three of us went to their Tuesday Banquet Night recently and all had probably the best Indian food we've ever tried. The price was £10.50 per head and the food was very well cooked, extremely tasty and plentiful. Will definitely be going back to try different meals from their extensive menu.

We experienced very friendly staff on the telephone and in person when we arrived. Service was prompt and the food was tasty. Dishes were as expected and portions were a decent size. Reasonable prices and very pleasant restaurant surround. We got a good deal when quoting local organisation Crawley Happy Times, 15% off our order.

Dined tonight. Attentive staff. Knowledgeable about their menu, helped us in our choices. Tried an aubergine side as recommended by staff and was delicious. Main courses were delicious and plentiful as well. Added touch when paying, we were offered a free brandy or bailey's. Would definitely return.

Called to order take away using their on-line menu....DON'T DO IT!!!!!! Called up and stated I'd like to place an order for delivery, the chap said he'd have to check..........

Placed an order for home delivery in good faith, after checking the amount charged with the online prices horrified to find out I had been overcharged by well over 10%. Called back within minutes, rude staff refused to refund difference despite acknowledging the prices online were out of date, refused to refund full order. Ended up paying over the odds for a curry I never received as they didn't even bother delivering it after refusing to cancel or refund me. Avoid this place like the plague. Crooks!

We have been going to Sagorika on and off for quite a while now especially since its it changed from Diwali. The food is excellent and the service is first class, we have never been disappointed where as other indian restaurants we often are especially when they are so over priced.

Can confirm it is now called Sagorika. Located in a small parade of shops, away from the town centre, with easy parking.

It is called Sagorika now ! It is very good still. Staff are always very friendly. I have been going here since 1995 !

I've used this restaurant for 25 years.. It is by far the best Indian in Crawley.. Don't think that where it's situated does it any favours, but once you've tried it, no other Indian in Crawley comes close.

Last on our list was the Diwali. New décor since I last visited leaves a lot to be desired taste wise. But the service was great (it should have been as it was empty for most of the meal) and friendly.

When it comes to taste in a curryhouse, I prefer mine in the balti dish rather than on the walls. Unfortunately, Diwali gets it the wrong way round.

I have been a fan of Diwali since it first came to Crawley. I am always impressed by the food and the customer service is always very good. The staff are always very friendly and chatty. I would definitely recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Nice place, food is great across the varied menu. Went on a Tuesday and it was £10:50 for three courses. A full on meal with drinks, just shy of 30 queen heads. Very happy, tastey, would recommend.

I have been using the Diwali since it first opened and have never had a bad meal from them, the menu has some very nice and different meals from the others in the town like lamm shank, I recommend every body to give them a try. they can be found on Gossops Green shopping parade, just by the windmill pub.

The staff were friendly and helpful and it reminded us how good this Indian restaurant is, we'll be going back soon.
