Saffron Summer in Kingston upon Thames

Just had a takeaway of 3x malai curry as we have always enjoyed this. BUT ... these currys were awful.States calcutta prawns spiced mooli Brussel spouts ... 1 whole Brussel sprout ?? ...used to be sliced up to go further with the taste & texture. Prawns tasted processed with a batter soggy outter coating... never had this before. What's happened??? New chef ? New recipe ? Certainly, I won't be ordering again with this declining quality. Sadly going downhill and you will lose a lot of customers including me

We visited Saffron Sunner this evening for the first time. First class service from a lovely waiter who knew the perfect balance between attentive and discretion. My food was delicious, from the first bite of popudum I knew I was in for a treat (freshly made). I'm an British-Indian takeaway girl at heart so I ordered my usual frankenstein dish of biryani and korma sauce which they sorted no trouble and OMG that korma sauce. It was genuinely so nice I almost wanted to cry (no exaggeration). The Buryani was fine, nothing special but I will shout out the amount and size of chicken in it. Totally worth the price and I will be eating here again the next time I visit the area.

I spent £55 on a takeaway last Saturday when I got it home the sauce in the lamb dish had all spilt into the bag because it was so runny, there was around four small pieces of lamb in that dish. The korma tasted like a microwave meal and some of the chicken was pink inside and the rice was not nice at all. I must say I have eaten here a few years ago and the food was lovely I'm not sure if you are under new ownership or have a new chef. I am not one to usually complain especially about a small business but for what I spent the quality and quantity of the food was appalling. If I had of eaten in I would have complained there and then.

Arrived quite late on a Sunday evening and managed to get a good meal. Very tasty meal with very pleasant waiter.

Over several years this has been the go to restaurant for myself and friends when we want amazing Indian food. Always feel well looked after by both waiters and management, always open to give advice and help when choosing dishes. Delicious food, if the chicken trilogy was a main course I’d choose it every time…!! Fantastic service, can be quiet at times but this doesn’t detract from the whole dining experience. Would always recommend to friends, 5 stars every time.

OVERPRICED FOR THE QUANTITY NOT WORTH IT! I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone or visit again! We had a fixed two course menu for £25 per head, to my shocked the quantity that was delivered to the table was completely insufficient, they were shamefully small portions when I complained the next day I was told I should have ordered more, therefore paying more !

For a local restaurant parking is quite hard to find. Food quality was average. Some Dishes were warmer than others, and the dish portions were limited. Starters were slow, took about 20 minutes to come even restaurant was only 50% full. Menu was incorrect in drinks, (printing mistake - Sipmith was listed under Vodka and not Gin.). Service was polite, and restaurant was clean.

Nacito is a superb host who always makes us feel welcome. Super polite and very friendly. Sayed the chef simply excels. The chicken trilogy starter is to die for

We discovered this hidden gem accidentally. I was expecting some rather dull pre made sauces etc - however to my surprise this restaurant turned out to be the best Indian restaurant for quality, taste and service on this side of town. Food is consistently good and some great dishes.

Superb. We love this place. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s just wonderful. Consistently brilliant food, excellent, friendly service. We dine in and use the takeaway regularly and both options are great. Highly recommended. Nascimento and his team deserve a huge thumbs up.

Outstanding Indian cuisine. Particularly love the classy takes on regional cuisine which we miss in average Indian restaurants. We frequently order the biryani which is brilliant and the samosas! The butter chicken is possibly the best we've had!

Had high hopes but unfortunately the food didn't have enough flavour, all the dishes tasted the same - tomato based curry. Portions were small and contained very little meat in the curries. Pricey for what you get. Not planning to return.

2nd time from here first time perfect. Second was terrible considering it turned up quick everything was freezing between two curries there was barely 10 peices of chicken which were chewy and everything was freezing. Best bit was the popadoms

This place is amazing, I can’t recommend it enough, went with just the wife, from the starter (unusual small poppadoms) with amazing dips, through to gorgeous mains, and rich lovely pindi as a side, wow.

Simply unbelievable. Having dined in various jaunts in Brick Lane and Central London - nothing came close to Saffron Summer. Every dish was perfect. Every dish was served within 5 minutes of ordering and all of it left us speechless. The restraunt was fairly empty even on a Saturday night so make sure you book a table whilst you can still get one! Service was attentive and caring and took the time to explain each dish to us. Something I'd been more accustomed to having dined in michellin stared restraunts in the City of London. Every dish left us speechless. Perfectly balanced and you could tell every aspect of each dish had been studied, refined and perfected over many years. Do not wait. Book a table at Saffron Summer - you will NOT regret it!

We went with family on Christmas Eve. It was our first visit but certainly not the last. We had a very warm welcome from the staff, the restaurant has a cosy feel about it, but tables spaced so that you do not feel too closed in. The restaurant has very good reviews and they are well deserved. The waiting staff are only too pleased to advise, they were exceptionally caring towards our young grandaughter, explaining which food was very hot and spicy. The food is wonderful, our son in law enjoys a curry, his comment was it was the best curry he had tasted, praise indeed. We all found the Saffron Summer experience the best. We have recommended this restaurant to friends, and will certainly be returning ourselves. The manager and his staff deserve the praise.

Second time of visiting. And still great service, great food. More than your average curry house, in quality, choice and cost, I'd say... the best curry in the area.

Absolutely amazing food and the staff are so friendly and helpful. They even took the time to help with my daughter's who couldn't decide what to have. As they didn't want anything to spicy. Fully recommend anyone going here. Quality of service and food is outstanding we will definitely be going back.

We really enjoyed our meal, the staff were extremely friendly and had a fantastic knowledge of the dishes and flavours. Our meal was absolutely delicious completely different to other Indian restaurants. The Calamari starter was our favourite, will definitely be going back.

We have had many deliveries but this was our 1st time dining in, lovely restaurant, fab service and amazing food!

I don't think words will adequately describe how good of an experience my girlfriend, friend and I had dining here in early October. You are greeted by a stylish, spotless, inviting, classy, warm interior, and then by a host who is just as warm and inviting. A consummate professional with a voice like velvet. I had requested a glass of prosecco be brought to the table for my girlfriend upon arrival (we went for her birthday and I made the special request when booking) which was delivered promptly. Not only that, but she later received a dessert on the house, with candles and singing. Our host went above and beyond for us that evening and made the experience truly special. The menu hits that sweet spot between having plenty of options, but not too many options, if you know what I mean. Before we had a chance to order we were each served a platter of mini popadoms with 3 unique and delicious sauces to share - mango chutney, prawn and tomato & lemon. Absolutely delicious. Big flavours straight off the bat. A definite crowd-pleaser. We ordered a selection of starters. Now, read this next bit a few times... Order the calamari. Read that again. Order. The. Calamari. This is like no calamari you've even eaten. It's caramelised, sticky, delicious goodness. Texture to die for. Order the calamari. Trust me. Ok, moving on... We also ordered samosas, bhajis, kebabs and chicken trio to start. They were all incredible. You shouldn't even be surprised at this point, let's be honest. We followed those up with a few curries, rice and garlic naan to share. All on point. Delicious, balanced, fresh. Hats off to the chef. The desserts we great. Even the complementary chocolates that came with the bill were out of this world. The overall experience was reminiscent of Michelin star dining. I'm pretty sure most if not all of the food, even the sauces, are made in-house. And the craziest part... It's really affordable! Get your butt down there ASAP. Order the calamari. Tip the staff. Eat good food. Support local.

Went tonight (Saturday 1st October) on a recommendation. Wonderful food and great service. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food really was delicious. A very interesting menu with dishes that aren’t your usual curry house fare. The wild boar vindaloo is the dish to try. Will definitely return.

We had our second meal at Saffron Summer last night. Amazing food, beautifully presented and a medley of delicate tastes. The ingredients are explained as the dishes are brought to the table. Lovely decor and friendly staff who are very keen that you get the full experience. An Indian restaurant with a difference that caters for traditional British preferences but also encourages you to be a bit more experimental in your choices ( the guinea fowl is delicious!) Definitely a good choice of restaurant!!!

On the 03/05/22 I visited Saffron Summers as I was on a business trip! The service from Nacito and the chef was excellent food didn't take very long at all and each plate was delicious. All the little details made it a particularly nice eating out experience and I'm glad I picked this place as my meal out during my trip. For starters I had a Tandoori Broccoli dish which was a new and exciting experience for me who knew curry coated broccoli could taste so nice and interesting. For my main meal I had a Wild Boar Vindaloo, Garlic Nan Bread and Rice each was what I would consider a good plateful of food and each added to the experience of a filling dinner. The Wild Boar Vindaloo was something else. My understanding was I should prepare to have my taste buds destroyed by intensity and it did at first worry me. However, this Vindaloo was more developed then I expected and had flavour and was hot but the balance of the meat against hot curry was fantastic. Improved by the large bowl of rice and large garlic nan bowl. Thank you very much for the experience Nacito and chef!!! To top it all of was the time Nacito spent writing down the recipe of the Vindaloo for me which I thought I'd try to share the experience with my Nan who I cherish a lot and I think will appreciate. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. The waiter even spoke Portuguese with us, and made great recommendations.

Stunning, high-level Indian food. Usually have takeaway but occasionally eat in for a weekday lunch, when it's very quiet and service is excellent. Highlights include the Venison Kebabs and chicken trio starters, Wild Boar Vindaloo (not as hot as a 'typical' Vindaloo but still packs a punch), and the various Biriani mains. I've never had enough space left to manage a dessert so can't comment on those.

A completely different Indian experience to a normal curry house. The presentation of the food was exceptional as was the service and delivery of the food with the explanations of the ingredients within the dishes. I would definitely return and recommend to friends and family

Our group visited saffron summer last night on recommendation, we try to pick a new curry restaurant every time we meet up, I can honestly say it was the worst curry I’ve ever had. On ordering our food I asked for a keema naan expecting it to be on the menu. I got told abruptly if it’s not on the menu we don’t do it” The novel crisp sized Papadams tasted anything but fresh and stuck to your teeth, I ordered a chicken madras it tasted of nothing! no flavour or spice I asked to swap for a vindaloo hoping I might get to taste an actual curry but alas much the same bland with zero flavour. We then waited an eternity for service to clear plates and order coffees and then another year for the bill. Just to be clear it wasn’t busy the restaurant was empty and in high insight I can see why. Terrible food. Terrible service.

Been for Sunday Lunch today haven't been for a couple of years - we had a very enjoyable meal - it is the normal menu for lunch which was great for us. We received attentive and calm service and were served delicious food. I can especially recommend the Onion Bhaji, Bhel Puri, Sev Batata Puri, Tandori Broccoli and Kabuli Gosht. I highly recommend the food is spicy, tasty but not harsh on the taste buds.

Very disappointed. We travelled all the way from London to this restaurant after reading the reviews. However the food is far from being authentic and tasted awful. Albeit very hungry I had no choice but to return food to the kitchen. Very small portions on the mains. Way too small portion of papadoms. We asked for chips for our toddler but we were told it’s not normal practice to have a kids menu in place. This place is overrated. Definitely won’t be back.

Had a New Year’s evening meal here. Food is heavenly particularly the chef’s specialties. Service is attentive, professional and not overbearing. Not the cheapest, but happy to pay for this quality.

Excellent food that is a bit different to your "traditional" Indian (though they do have some traditional favourites like Tikka Masala). Eaten in several times and had countless takeaways. Highly recommended. My favourite Indian in Chessington / Hook area.

What a lovely evening. We visited last night with friends who live locally. The food was amazing, perfectly cooked, with quality ingredients and beautifully presented. The service could not have been better- friendly , helpful and really well timed. We really recommend this very highly and will definitely be returning.

Simply brilliant. No idea curry this good was so local. Been in the area for 10 years and found this when spending the night with family at Chessington World of Adventures. Popped down for a quick curry with the family and it was amazing. Highly recommended. For starters we had pops (so tasty) , onion bhaji (so fluffy), vegetable samosa (so crispy), and calamari (so tasty). We all had house special mains including boar vindaloo. All so so tasty. Service was amazing. If I had any minor gripes it would be that the food portions are a little small (but we still left feeling stuffed and quality is amazing) and was also a little more pricey than any local curry (£14 for a main curry compared to £6-9 at all other locals). But these are minor, so much so, I'll be back every other week. Highly recommended.

We decided to go out at the last minute & managed to get a table. I was surprised that we did, when I saw how busy they were. After eating here, I can totally understand why it was so busy. We went for lunch as we were in the area. We had decided to order an array of food which we would all share. The chutneys that came with the poppadums besides mango were different to what we usually expect. All 3 were very tasty, the prawn one especially. The rest of the food was arranged on our table and we tucked in. We rated the puri, the dal makhani, the prawns and the chicken tikka in particular. All the food was very different, mouth-wateringly tasty and beautifully presented and served. The service was excellent and we were impressed that we were explained what each dish was and contained. The restaurant was spotless. We were so impressed that we will return although we do not live locally. Thank you very much for such a stunning lunch.

Overall an amazing restaurant. Food and service was absolutely perfect, we had one vegan guest who was catered for brilliantly. When our very kind waiter realised we had a vegan guest he explained the vegan options clearly, as well as making sure when the food came out to explain what the vegan guest could eat. There was a wide variety of options on the menu for all allergy and diet requirements, our waiter was able to give recommendations and describe every dish! The food itself was delicious, couldn’t improve it at all! As a group we highly recommend the buttered chicken dish and the onion Bhaji’s. The restaurant itself was very clean and modern.To conclude, this is one the best Indian restaurants I have been to, highly recommend and we will definitely be returning in the future!

The best Indian takeaways around. Lamb biryani and butter chicken are my favourites. Ordering online through their website is very easy too, and the staff are super friendly.

First time visit. From the outside the kerb appeal wasn’t the best but as we walked out after finishing our meal we were total bowled over. The restaurant is scrupulously clean and very COVID friendly. The owner looks after you like a long lost brother and best of all the food is different from most Indians and is absolutely fantastic.
