Very pleasant atmosphere, good service, food not bad

Said it was late but just got to us in time ….. food was AMAZING

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! We have been customers for years but never again would I order from this restaurant. We ordered on a Saturday evening at 7.30 and the delivery didn’t arrive until 9.45. Despite calling the restaurant for an update on delivery over 30 times between myself and my husband there was no answer. I then decided to head out and get some food as we assume it wasn’t arriving this late, which it then did! We refused this back to the restaurant as it was so late to eat and we had drove out to get something else at this point! Since trying to get in contact the manager is always on ‘holiday’ and we are still waiting for our refund 3 weeks later. The staff dealing with the issue have been rude and think this service is acceptable. Please think twice before dealing with this restaurant and spend your money elsewhere!!!

The food was amazing and great service

chicken bhuna missing from order. Rang restaurant to let them know to which they was a bit rude but they agreed to drop bhuna off but would take half hour. That was 50 minutes ago and still without my girlfriend main dish. Very disappointed

Ordered take-away from here and it was the worst Indian food I’ve had. It took 2 hours to deliver (maybe more), was cold when arrived and I’ve just recovered from a bout of food poisoning. It wasn’t even worth the wait because the food was horrible, flourescent sauces, zero taste and swimming in oil. I strongly recommend others not to eat at this place unless you like horrible cold food, delivered late and will have you off work for four days!

Waited nearly 2 hrs for delivery called up they said 10 minutes 30 mins later still no food! Order got cancelled

it was a large order so perhaps took time to make. food was ok, good bits and bad bits.

Amazing food, service and delivery

Food was cold and chicken and lamb was very dry and tough basically inedible and sauce too rich and sickly for a masala NOT GOOD!!

Enough oil in my madras to run several cars, chicken was overcooked and chewy, come on guys there is so much good competition around you can do better, vegtable balti was nice. Dipping chapati in oil was no fun for me or the chapati

green salad I thought was raitha because could not see raitha on menub(what I thourght was raitha (onion, tomato, cucumber plus herb) on menu. very confusing. Now ruined my meal because nothing to eat popadoms with.

Ordered a Tikka Masala and it was overly salty. Couldn't finish it because it built up the more I ate. So a no from me.

Was a very nice meal. No alcohol on offer but very kindly we could buy alcohol from across the road without a corkage charge 👍. Very pleasant member of staff looked after us. All good with no complaints from us .

The food was cold not up to their usual standards. We have eaten from here before and we always enjoyed. But tonight I was text the driver on the way now. It took 20 mins to arrive when we only live 5 mins away and the food was cold. Not enjoyable at all.

Ordered food through just eat as they had good ratings but what a mess that was. Had to wait 2+ hours to receive a cold meal that I wasn’t hungry for as we ordered from somewhere else which came within half an hour. Was rude on the phone hanging up on me as well. First time and the last time I eat here. Doesn’t matter how good the food is when you don’t get to eat it.

Well the item said spicy..turned out to be sweet. Quantity was very less, and taste was ok. I would say there is room for improvement as far as Indian cuisine is concerned.

We ordered our meal here.from Deliveroo. ETA was pointless food turned up 1hr 15mins later than quoted. Couldn't track the ordering process, tried ringing the restaurant one number "sorry you have dialled an incorrect number", next number non existent. A message ought to have been straight on their website to advise customers of this. Quote obviously they hire out a company to do their website. Terrible terrible service. When the food finally arrived, it was tepid and had to be reheated in a microwave - seriously who does that? You order a meal you expect it hot and fresh. They messed up our order no rice yet ordered it with meal, they gave us 3 pots of salad & a veg curry. I felt so sorry for the poor driver, he is having to face the grumbles from customers he was so apologetic he had told his bosses the phones weren't working, to be fair I didn't get much chance to listen as wanted the food we had paid just under £50 for. I just feel for the poor driver, he was such a lovely guy just doing his job. Shame on Saffron Lounge for such a lax attitude towards deliveroo customers. As I said the food was slightly warm and I had to heat in the microwave. The order wasn't correct, but the food itself was very nice and just the right amount of.food per portion. Although it was cooked beautifully - was it worth such a long wait ? Not in our opinion. By the time it got tomis we were beyond hungry ! Maybe they were having a bad day but I just felt their service and attitude towards customers as poor, no working telephone numbers, nothing on their website neither. Thabkngod the driver was kind and gentle and apologetic - it wasn't his fault. For the length of time we waited, no one wants to eat at 9.55pm?? I would say sorry Saffron Lounge you failed us today - despite the food being very tasty & full of flavour. I just didn't expect to have no.rice, soggyish cold food.

Food amazing! Lamb jalfrezi is our favourite. Great rices too. Chilli blows your brains out, mushroom is perfect as is garlic rice too. We adore spicy foods so very happy. Collecting next one shortly!!

After looking at the reviews I had high hopes however the chicken in the pathia was tough, small and not much of it. Everything was very greasy, onion bhajis small and rock hard and samosas Tiny and little filling. Very disappointed

Exceeded expectations! Tried Saffron Lounge due to a special offer but has to be up there with one of the best Indian meals we have had from just eat. Likely to become a regular now. Many thanks really impressed!

Usually absolutely love Saffron Lounge food, but today was disappointed as the rice tasted strange and the delivery was so late.

The vegetable curry was very watery and the popadom’s were stale, the mint sauce was bright green and watery.

The food was so good and fresh. Very quickly delivered. The delivery man was so cool. We enjoyed full meal.

Very unhappy - I ordered this back at around 6.30pm so that I would beat the Friday rush - 2 hours later still no food!!! I tried this restaurant because my local Indian restaurants are quite expensive so thought I would try a new one - what a huge mistake!!!8.30pm & still no delivery - rang restaurant & all they can say is it’s on its way & they will give us a discount if we order again - why on earth would we order again🥵😡

Meal arrived roughly 30 minutes late which I was not pleased about, BUT!!!! The food arrived piping hot much to my surprise considering how late it arrived and it was all delicious. A slight mix up with rices but I won’t complain too much! Will be ordering again for sure

This is our first order from this Resturant. We got the Delivey very quick. The food was so delicious, fresh & hot. We have enjoyed the full meal. Thanks for the free papadoms & mint sauce. Great service and very friendly Delivey driver. Will be ordering again. Highly recommend. 😊

I picked up a collection order a few days ago and tried to email you about my total disatisfaction with the quality of the food and pathetic portion size, but you don't publish an email for your busness, so I have left this review.... The Kadai Paneer only contained 6 small pieces of paneer and was completely smothered in onions without much sauce.The paneer was totally favourless - very unenjoyable. The chicken in the Chicken Balti was very tough and again lacked flavour. There was not much sauce and again completely smothered in onions - are you filling your dishes with cheap vegetables to pad them out instead of putting decent quantities the main ingredients in?? There are plenty of Indian restaurants around Southend that manage to serve much better quality food and at reasonable prices, so needless to say I will not be using Saffron Lounge again!

Never been to this restaurant before and we live very close. What a gem 💎 fabulous authentic Indian food. Service was excellent and price very reasonable. Bring your own alcohol which we prefer we are then in charge of what we bring and how much it costs. Look forward to a return visit with family and friends

First visit , easy walk to Cliffs Pavilion for pre show meal. The food was delicious and the service top notch, highly recommended 5*

I love my food. I am also a bit of a 'karen' when it comes to complaining about my order. So when I say I have no problems with the food I had from here I mean it. I had lamb sag. The meat came in huge chunks and there was lots of it. It was tender and tasty. I will 100%order from here again. I was so impressed by the food and service. My first meal from here will definitely not be my last. Whole hearted recemmendation from me.

Lovely little place, nice ambiance. Didn't eat in as we ordered a take away but, I would go back for the food, it was delish!

Restaurant tucked away in a corner of Hamlet Court Road, so not very busy ever. Food good, service quite slow even on a quiet evening. Restaurant is box-like with nothing to relieve the aspect. Would go again but not the most exciting venue.

I’d describe the food as an absolute travesty. Nothing was good and after waiting for an hour to get our order, we were done in 13 mins because the food was so bad. I’ll recommend asking them about each and every dish that you want to order because the preparation was not at all what you’d expect. We had a Mutter Paneer in white gravy. I’m from India and I can swear I’ve never ever seen anyone make it in that. To top that off, the staff were very condescending. Would not recommend this place at all.

Horrendous, eaten here a few times food always good , this time don’t care, been sitting here for over an hour with only 8 in the restaurant, only want to serve takeaways. Walked out a joke

Starter and main were OK. Dessert was awful. Whipped ice cream, with flake, put in bowl and then put in freezer. Tasted foul. Ruined an otherwise nice meal.

Fantastic food, lovely people and the cleanest restaurant I have ever been to. A real joy to visit. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.

Five of us turned without reservation but restaurant was empty, so service good. Excellent starters and main meals. Little lacking in atmosphere but probably picks up at the weekend. Will go again.

This place is a bit out of the way but the food is excellent and the staff attentive (and nice!). I recommend it!

The food is ok but they NEVER make their promised delivery times and it always takes well over an hour, even if you order at 17:30

November 22 , had a takeaway from Saffron , how refreshing to receive the salad in an acceptable container ( not a plastic bag. ,) along with other containers ( ) not plastic boxes) , OH. And the food was very good on time HOT delivery . Thank you Saffron . Chambers 5 / 11/ 22 .

Waited nearly 2 hours for online order only to receive lukewarm dry chicken together with stone cold onion bhajis and bread. The entire meal was inedible. I had rung to enquire the whereabouts of my order as it was supposed to be approximately 45 minutes. One chap hung up and the other blamed the delivery driver. I requested a refund but they were not prepared to do this. It appears the food was cooked and awaiting delivery - no wonder it was cold after having sat for an hour after being cooked !!! I ended up throwing the whole lot away. I am still trying to obtain a refund from them. In the past this restaurant was excellent and I had recommended to other people. Needless to say after this bad experience I will not be going back and will not recommend.

Visited at 6.30 on Friday- table available, and attentive waiter. Had starters and main course which were well presented, very tasty and good sized portions.

Had to walk due Uber Eats failing on delivery drivers on a number of occasions. Restaurant refused to give me the food that was sitting in a bag in front of me getting cold because an Uber eats driver finally picked up the delivery 3 mins before my arrival. Absolutely farcical. Food was average at best.

Wrong dishes delivered and what was delivered was absolutely shocking. The Jalfrezi was some very poor pieces of chicken (should have been King prawn) which came in a strange brown sauce, couple of chillis and onion, and no flavour apart from chilli. Phoned to complain but apparently it was our fault for not ordering correctly, Management just would not accept responsibility for wrong order and terrible food. We recommend that you do not use this place (cant bring ourselves to call it a restaurant)

Let down on more than one occasion. Food so salty it was inedible but no response to our complaint. Give them another chance and they send the wrong food and when we phoned back to tell them, they blamed us for ordering wrong and were not even listening. Shall not give them another chance Recommendation is.....don't use them food and service has gone down, down. down Shame

Drab! Atmosphere is tired and outdated. Service wasn't friendly and the food was beyond average. Whole place needs a shake up and stop living in the past.

Consistently high quality food. The staff are friendly and professional. We keep going back for a regular takeaway treat. Highly recommended.
