first time we have used here. we love a curry. this was excellent food. excellent service.

The flavours were lovely ordered lamb biryani and lamb jalfrezi if there was lamb bi there it was thinly sliced shame as was nice . Should have been advertised as vegetarian

ive ordered from here often always been my favourite but after last night i wont be back,my order was around £45 £6 on popadoms i forgot to order the sauces to go with them so i phoned the restaurant and asked if he could throw them in the bag he said only if i pay for them on the door i explained i had no cash the man on phone was extremely rude to me but did end up putting them in the order but when it came chicken extremely tough sauce was nice but no way worth the money

The food is always fresh, tasty and on time. My daughter loves the lamb curry. The only negative is the rice portion are quite small, but everything else is great .

New Indya is the best Indian restaurant near Southend-on-Sea. The food is fresh, spicy and delicious. I ordered the lamb bhuna and the paneer tikka. They were both tender and juicy. The service was friendly and efficient. This is the best Indian restaurant nearby.

Food out of this world so pleased to get a take away actually worth the money.

Not bad but not good either. Overall an average experience with little to complain about in terms of food (but I don't get why they don't serve alcohol but allow it to be brought onto the premises -leading us to order, go and get beer from the off-licence around the corner)

I keep ordering and trying new dishes each time I order and have enjoyed everything we've tried. Really tasty food, good portions, always on time and free stuff on occasion.

Food was delivered a little later than expected but nothing to complain about, food was delicious and will be ordering again.

Order from here at your own risk. Staff are rude, and unwilling to listen. Ordered a takeaway, according to the restaurant they waiting and rung the door bell for 15 minutes while calling my mobile. Yet neither my doorbell nor my phone rung once. Apparently they also knocked which also was not heard once. They man that answered the phone was rude, unwilling to listen and repeatedly spoke over me.

Staff lied! Cannot be trusted and completely rude. Never have I experience this abysmal, insulted service in my life. Apprently they waited for 15 minutes and rung my phone, yet I do not have a single missed call and no one rung my doorbell.

Great food taste is amazing only thing is that ask for mild to be cooked and do to hot put in notices but never read so that's why it's a 4 star very important to read the note people leave as could be some one who can't eat serton food

They are not delivering food on time and there service is terrible. The delivered the food after 2 hours for 2.5 miles and the food is too cold to eat..I don’t recommend to order any food from here.

Really disappointed in the food, usually it’s great but tonight it was so salty that I couldn’t eat mine, so it ended up in the bin. my husbands was ok. I had a chicken tikka masala with pilau rice, which is what I always have. Very disappointing

The meal I ordered was dry and tasteless, not up to their usual standard, and so I will never order from them again.

Restaurant was really helpful arranging our dinner to ready ahead of schedule.

The meal was delivered almost 30 minutes after the original estimated timeslot without update nor apology. This was disappointing as we regularly order from this establishment and they are normally very reliable. The food was tasty enough but spoilt by being barely hot (and reheating by microwave is a recognised food hygiene risk). Let's hope it's a one off.

Ordered an omelette and chips for the other half, he got about 4 chips and the omelette must have been made with 1 egg, I had chicken korma that was lovely, coconut rice was cold, naan breads were nice, sorry honest review won’t be using again but some bits were good .

Had this for the first time last night. Absolutely exquisite - duck in puri and a chicken asari. Naan was delicately done and the best peshwari ive had in ages. bosh

I just took a take away(initially wanted to dine in but found the man to be rude) I order lamb and veg bhuna and 2 garlic naan and specifically requested the naan to be made thin and crispy but it was made thick and soggy. Curry was also sweet and disgusting. Overall bad taste !

I have been visiting this curry house for over 15 years, I havent found anywhere else that can match the price, portion sizes and the large menu choice in Essex. It's great you can bring your own drink as I tend to visit in large groups and saves so much on the bill when splitting it as your not paying £4-6 for a beer. Owner and staff are very friendly and provide a great service. The Chicken Morissa is a firm favourite of mine.

Four of us went on Friday evening, not been for a while, fantastic meals for everyone, my king prawns madras was the best I've ever had my starter was also excellent we couldn't fault one thing. Great.

I ordered a chicken dish which was absolutely packed with generous chunks of chicken, and with a delicious sauce, potatoes which were perfectly cooked, soft but not mushy and plentiful, mushrooms which were rich and flavourful and an enormous soft fluffy naan. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious, and large portions ....the only disappointment was my poppadom and mango chutney starter as it was literally one single poppadom in a bag...every time I order poppadoms I get more than one, so I won't order that again! However, apart from the poppadom I was really happy with the quality and quality of the food and I will definitely order again and try some other dishes 😊

Highly recommend New Indya, food is the best in my opinion. Bringing your own drinks makes it a reasonable night out. Lovely friendly staff, great atmosphere and the best curries never disappoint

Ordered butter chicken which says mild curry with butter (Self explanatory!) but fails to mention its also coconut so if your allergic to coconut you won't know this. I called to advise and they said they couldn't do anything then wanted to charge me for another main dish and a second delivery charge! Not helpful at all and spent £30 and only ate a starter!

I think this is the best indian restaurant in Southend at the moment.

I am so upset leaving this restaurant tonight. A large group of friends were here to eat, and two babies were in the group. I ordered a meal that would come on a skillet, so asked, for safety, as I had a baby with me, for the food to be put on my dinner plate in the kitchen. The owner/manager refused pointed to my son and said "put IT in there" meaning his buggy. I said for safety I would like it on a cold plate and again got refused. I then asked them to cancel my food, which he said he would. I'm really not sure what the issue was, especially as they give you a dinner plate anyway. Another mother had the smae dish. When we both asked for dishes to be on cooler plates they eventually agreed. The man made such an issue of me wanting a cold plate and was speaking to us in a disgusting manner, it tarnished the evening. The incident will stop me going back. It's down to the fact we were there with lots of lovely friends, that the evening was still a success.
