Spiced haddock starter excellent. Prawn starter also superb. Lamb Rogan Josh and lamb korma both very good. Pashwari naan and saffron rice very good. Great to hear staying in Kilmacolm

Really poor carryout meal tonight. Came within 30 min so expected it to be hot and fresh. Fish pakora was lukewarm, very salty and consisted of 5 pieces in a small greasy paper bag with a couple of bits of onion, no salad. Did not get the extra sauce we ordered. Popadoms tasted like they had been fried in rancid oil. Spiced onions lovely. Garlic naan did not taste of garlic at all. Main courses and rice were nice enough. Not nearly worth the £40 we spent. I fed this back to the owner using the feature on their app but sadly no response. Will not be using (or recommending) again

I have visited 3 times so far. Food assortment is much smaller than the large curry houses but the quality and flavour is superb. Without doubt my favourite curry house in the West of Scotland. Worth travelling for.

We have friends over visiting from Luxembourg and decided to treat them to a Saffron take away meal and again it didn't disappoint. 11 of us with all different requests were treated to a banquet. Clean plates and full tummies after our tasty meal. We would definitely recommend anyone to try this restaurant as it caters for everyone!

We visited here as a group of 5 for a meal booking at 5:30pm and were the only table in initially. By the time we left the place was full. Small menu which I like as everything is fresh. We all had a different dish and everyone raved about their choice. Would recommend and will now also try the takeaway service offered next door. Fresh great food at an affordable price. Service was also very good.

I'd heard such good things about the takeaway from Saffron, looked forward to trying it tonight, and in the end was so disappointed with the food! I've given 2 stars because my son and partner felt their lamb and chicken dishes were edible at least. I had a vegetable kadahi- it was dry, had a powdery texture and the vegetables were so undercooked they were almost raw. After a few bites I threw it in the bin. Will not be back.

Food was great , good choice for anyone in the hunt for a kebab or a pizza. Been my go to local take away for a while now. Highly recommend.

Just collect a chicken and donner kebab. Worst ever!!! Dry chicken, dry donner meat in a very thin nan Everything was cold, salad was dripping water and 1 small sauce for all that. No colour. Dull and boring, tasteless food. Usually get tea time special but thought we would try something else. It was disgusting and straight in the bin. Not worth £12 at all. Next time back to Kebana Linwood for King nan supreme

We had our first meal from Saffron this weekend having just moved to the area. We ordered online from Saffrons website which works brilliantly and you are updated on the stages of your order and emailed when it’s ready. The staff are so helpful and friendly on collection and, most importantly, the food was stunning! My husband and I shared the butter chicken with rice and a coriander and garlic naan (amazing flavours) and we ordered a pizza for my son. I am already deciding what our order will be for next weekend! Thanks for a brilliant experience Team Saffron! x

Kilmacolm is so very lucky to have this most superb restaurant and take away. I simply cannot think we have had better Indian cuisine anywhere. We had the King Prawn Malabari and the Monkfish Tikka Masala. Both sauces are absolutely fantastic and the monkfish was just outstandingly good. Thank you Saffron.

We had our first takeout from Saffron delivered last night. It was delicious, very fresh and tasty. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Dansak and Jalfrezi and various sides. The garlic naan was very garlicky, which we loved. Looking forward to trying different curries in the new year!

Never had anything other than excellent food from here. Sauces and meat dishes are freshly made and full of flavour. Portion sizes are good too. Will be back to try the restaurant soon.

First visit in over a year and did not disappoint. The food is consistently excellent - fresh and full of flavour. Service is friendly and quick. New menu is lovely - especially the monkfish main. Small inside but don’t let that put you off.

What a tremendous family outing. Saffron is always great but their new, pared-down menu is still fantastic and the atmosphere was great. Really authentic dishes, large portions and excellent service - a definite asset to the. Ullage.

Consistently good curries , excellent service and delivery . We have used Saffron for many years and have certainly used their delivery service during the pandemic.

We regularly call into Saffron for a take-away Friday pm curry and find the staff friendly and quick to get our order ready.You cannot enjoy a proper curry without accompanying naan breads and Peshwari naan and their tandoori oven gets the right results every time. You can't bake a nan without a purpose built oven and theirs is excellent.

I’ve had carry out from Safffron twice and it’s been delish both times! Our favorite place to carry out a curry is in Glasgow, but we live in Bishopton so it is quite a hike to go regularly (although worth it)... anyway, we are really glad to now discover Safffron because we love a carry out and this place is the best I’ve had anywhere in the nearby area. We will surely be back very regularly! Great meal deals as well! Affordable for a large family!

Never had a bad curry from Saffron any time we’ve tried to eat in it’s booked out that has to say something! Wast so keen on the pizzas but the korma, tikka and the pakora are spot on comfort food.

We have been to this restaurant and take away a number of times and have been happy with the quality and taste. On our last visit everyone's (1 veggie, 2 meat eaters) food was overly salty across each course that has led to us being reluctant to return for either take away or a dining experience for a while.

Always busy and always good. We regularly get a takeaway from Saffron but even when we phone our order ahead we still have to wait, it's that good...

Very small but very special Indian Restaurant in village with comprehensive takeaway next door. Food is beautifully cooked and presented in modern style by its young and friendly staff.

We have used Saffron for takeaway food for years but decided to sit in the restaurant for a change. Two adults, two kids. Three starters, two main courses, a small pizza and an even smaller supposed to be large chicken kebab. Two glasses of wine and two soft drinks. £90!!!! The food was tasty but the portion size is really really poor. Both lamb dishes had 4 pieces of lamb. I had asked for a large chicken kebab. Five small pieces of chicken. I had to ask for dinner meat on the side.We won't sit in again and wouldn't recommend you to sit in if you are hungry. Very overpriced for the portion size so sorry, because I really rate the food, but as a sit in meal, it's three stars. We'll stick to takeaway in future.

We visit Saffron periodically and it is generally quite good.On this occasion the food was just ok, not the usual culinary delight we have come to expect.What spoiled the evening for us was the oppressive heat coming from a fan heater on the wall.The place, although small, does require heating but this kind of heating meant it was difficult to breathe.Friends who have visited separately have the same complaint.We will think twice about returning until this has been remedied.

The menu is still great - all the usual favourites, well cooked and served in a great, informal atmosphere. Small, but perfectly formed! This is a great curry house.

We’ve had takeout from saffron lots of times over the years although it was more often when we lived in Kilmacolm and the food is pretty much always lovely, got a delivery to Houston snd food was as usual lovely but i was a bit shocked at paying £3:50 for delivery, normally I would give delivery person a tip but not when their getting that for delivery, oh and if your looking for delivery drivers keep me in mind n I could probably give up my day job

We sat in small restaurant - full on arrival, party waiting our table on our dept. There is take away too. Super tasty and very well presented mains and sides. No wonder our local friends go regularly. Would without doubt return on our next visit to Kilmacolm and highly recommend to others

We have been coming up to work locally for between around 3-5 weeks a year. Even on the occasions that we come up for a meeting and only stay one night, we always have a meal at the Saffron.

There are some very good restaurants in west central scotland, but this has to be the best i've been to, it has all the favorites but manages to refine the offering to the levels of fine dinning.

We’ve had 3 takeaways over the past 6 weeks or so and they have been excellent. The chicken is tender and the prawns perfectly cooked. We have also eaten in and can recommend it.

Fine service. Delicious mains of lamb, paneer. Scrumptious papadam and onion relish starters. As I love onion, would like to try that relish w/less tomato sometime; nonetheless, we savored it to the last bite. .

Having visited this restaurant about two years ago, I decided that I needed to return since my memory was of a fabulous foodie experience, so I made a 20-mile detour to Kilmacolm just to taste the great food at Saffron once again.

Regular take-away fan, although the restuarant is equally tasty if a little 'cosy'. Specials mean you can eat well at a reasonable price. Fish pakora is a personal favourite !

Best little Indian restaurant for miles. We eat here most weeks and have never been disappointed with anything ordered and the staff are all lovely.

This is a wee gem of a restaurant. The food is quite exceptional. We had chilli king prawns and lamb chops to start - both dishes juicy, tasty and cooked to perfection. For main course, I had the monkfish curry which was quite exquisite. The nicest tasting, most tender monkfish dish I've ever tasted - outstanding! I don't know what my friend had as I was too interested in my own dish and he was too stingy to share anyway. I've been here several times now and the quality is consistently top notch. The food is quite simply as good as you'll find in the best restaurants in India. The only thing that wasn't quite up to Indian standards was the naan bread, which was good, but not great. Lovely staff, very friendly and attentive.

It was a poor impression about Indian food and especially a fusion until I discovered this food hub with perfect ambiance and detail to service. Since then I have tried all of their layouts and service periods. Ala carte, table d hote and buffet. Lovely food and it was exactly according to the authentic taste.

We visited Saffron during a recent stay in a nearby hotel and were blown away by the excellent food. I will confess we were in two minds have driven past earlier in the day and would urge you to see beyond the exterior. The food is of excellent quality and the flavours fantastic. The service is also of a very high standard. This restaurant served without question one of the best Indian meals we have eaten. Go and try for yourself.

Love the foid at Saffron. I'm not vegetarian but I love the cauliflower, potato and pea curry - it's so full of flavour.

One if the nicest curries I've ever had, This is a small restuarant with only a few covers. The staff are very friendly and boy is the food good.

Quite often your favourite 'Indian" is good and then falls away but not in this case. We have been using for over a year and the quality of food is always excellent the portions generous and the prices ridiculously reasonable.

There are few options in this area for an authentic curry. However Saffron is worth a visit for a better than average offering. The staff are engaging and the menu has a few surprises as well as the usual favourites It is small so booking at popular times is advisable. The carry out alternative is fine but not the same as the sit in; can be excessively salty at times, but any complaints would be addressed. Can be recommended.

We haven't had a curry from here for ages as it got a wee bit disappointing, BUT got a meal delivered tonight. Pakora, curries, breads etc. It was brilliant. Soooooo tasty, very good quality lamb and chicken. Absolutely scrummy. I actually phoned and told them is was gorgeous. I would class myself an expert in Indian / indopak food and this is some of the best curry I have had. Will defo be eating in the restaurant regularly!!

I have been going to Saffron for years since it opened as a takeaway. Since the opening of the Restaurant I have been in much more frequently, often taking many friends and clients in for a meal.The service is always fantastic, the waiters are polite and listen carefully to my order. I have yet to be dissatisfied with this restaurant and I am truly happy to have such a wonderful place right on my doorstep in kilmacolm.With a whole range of food from traditional Indian cuisine and even tapping into the fruits which are our 'Glasgow curries' this place really does have something for everyone!

Nice food if you actually get what you order � food order came without a burger and without salad as requested. Not the first time an order has been delivered minus items. When rang to complain the reply was well they told the delivery person there was a burger missing and a portion of salad that was requested and she was to let us know. Maybe give a wee call to your customer (you always ask for phone number when we order) to say a bit of their order is missing �

Saffron provides excellent quality food.in the restaurant .The dishes are quite distinct(and far superior) to the standard fast-food that they also provide.By all means enjoy the take-away service but go to the restaurant for a real treat.Ambiance is not as good as the food and the place is small.Service is fine.Saffron offers excellent value for money

Food is delicious. Lucky for us it's local. Take away and restaurant both great wee finds. Take away always busy so phone ahead. Sometimes, card machine doesn't work which can be frustrating but cash machine not too far away. Restaurant compact and bijou. One night we were in there was a group of 12 or so but they managed to serve everyone in good time and with a smile.

Fantastic fresh food, a beautiful cosy atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff! The best Indian food I've had in quite some time. I definitely recommend this restaurant for couples or small groups wanting a relaxed night out.

Visited Saffron for the first time a couple of weekends ago as it was highly recommended. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is small but the decor is tasteful and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. It was obviously freshly made and not oily as some Indian food can be, quite frankly, every mouthful was a treat. A lovely bottle of Malbec to wash it all down and all for a very reasonable price for the standard of food. The service was excellent also and the member of staff was very attentive. We will, without doubt, be back many times.

Love the take away......GREAT quality.If you are anywhere near, do yourself a favor and get your Indian meal from Saffron.It really does not look much, but great food.I did eat in the small restaurant once,but for me it is more a Brill take out than a big dine in experience.....that said it is pretty busy (small). We finally found this place last night. We knew the proprietor from years ago in Glasgow but only recently met him and tracked him down. We knew the food would be excellent but it was even better than we had hoped. The chef is brilliant and staff are friendly and attentive. As good a meal as I have had in Glasgow, and that is saying something.

Lovely, tasty, delightful!!! Yum, yum, yum!! Only downside is I don't have to drive to Mother India anymore. Yes, that good.... :-)

Went here after hearing about the delicious food. Small but comfortable. Food was delicious and what I really lived was the size of the portions. Not too much. Just enough to leave feeling satisfied and happy. Would def recommend to anyone who loves a nice curry.

Fantastic curry house nestled within a small community. Food is always brilliant, as the chefs have ample experience working in busy restaurants in Glasgow. Service is top notch, where servers know the menu and order of service very well. A superb range of beers to accompany a delisious meal; I highly recommend the monkfish. Would recommend to everyone, irrelevant of distance.

This small sit-in/take away in Kilmacolm has been operating for 4 years now. Don'the be fooled by the looks. The food is excellent, reasonably priced and take-away well above the normal. An excellent facility in the village.

4 small pieces of chicken and half tub sauce= £8?? For half a container of korma? Three standard carry out meals-bhoona, korma and veg curry ( too hot to eat), no rice and 5 pieces of pakora = £30? Much better meals from other establishments nearby. Will never be back.

Before this meal can't remember when I had authentic and flavoursome Indian food in Scotland, highly recommend to anyone who want to get real taste of India. Great dish suggestions by management team, made our evening. Can't wait to come back. Prawn starter was out of world. You rock guys.....

Ate here last Saturday evening for the first time having been recommended to us by friends. Great local restaurant with a warm welcome and lovely food at reasonable prices. Popular, so need to book at the week-end as we did only twenty two covers!

I have frequently ordered take away meals from this outlet and have had very mixed experiences, There does not seem to be any attempt at portion standardisation or quality control, and the quality of food supplied varies in consequence. Ordering here is a gamble., e.g I had a superb fish and prawn curry delivered but when I repeated the order I received a curry which contained two king prawns. For this I was charged £15.00. ( £7.50 per prawn ) When I phoned to complain about this overpriced and substandard meal I was told that I had been charged 'restaurant prices' ( for a home delivery ) as I 'must have an out of date menu' as this meal was no longer on the current menu. Had they indicated that I would be charged this price when I placed the order I would have cancelled it. No indication was given. . When I suggested that £7.50 per prawn was perhaps a tad expensive no attempt was made to apologise, refund or deliver a replacement. I was simply told 'we will bear this in mind'. This slapdash approach to cooking and customer relations is totally unacceptable. I would advise customers to check their bill and the contents of their meal carefully. This establishment is capable of providing high quality food if they address the issues identified.

Lovely cosy restaurant and the very best curry served. Only issue is the restaurant is a bit small. This is my second visit and certainly wasn't disappointed, I would say probably better! Hope to return soon along with friends which be their first visit.

I visited with 3 friends and were squeezed into our table; it's a very small restaurant with a great take away.The waitress who served us was helpful and informative and we had some delightful food, well served accompanied by ice cold cobra beer.The next time we are in Kilmacolm we will definitely visit.

Used this home delivery service for the 1st time recently when friends arrived unexpectedly. 5 adults and 2 teenagers, everyone ordered a different dish and everyone was happy with their food. The restaurant forgot to deliver the naan bread, I phoned, it arrived within 10 minutes. Will be doing this again.

Went here with the family on a recommendation from work colleague and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself is very small so probably best to book ahead and bring cash as they don't take cards yet. We tend to put all our chosen dishes in the middle of the table and then you get to try a bit of everything. Nothing disappointed, it was all freshly prepared and everything had its own flavour. I particularly enjoyed the monkfish curry. Will definitely be visiting again in the very near future!

Had a wonderful meal at this restaurant last night. We went there with some Swedish friends who were understandably a bit apprehensive about the spice levels of the food. The Chef adjusted the "heat" level of the food we ordered perfectly, and the empty plates at the end of the meal was evidence of the enjoyment of our Swedish friends, who reported that it was very flavoursome and they gave the meal full marks.The restaurant only accepts cash, and does not have facilities for card transactions as yet, so make sure you take some cash along, or you may have to walk down to a Servicetill on the High street (which isn't far away).It's obviously very popular with the local clientele.

Went to Saffron restaurant in Kilmacolm for dinner a few days ago.The food was excellent and the portions were just right.The place itself is very small but cosy and we were very pleased with the reception, and were guided to a very good table.The overall experience was very good indeed. The young waitress was obviously inexperienced but she more than made up with her attentiveness and enthusiasm. As I can speak the North Indian language, I was amused to hear the "front of house" man ticking off the chef for not explaining the identity of the dishes clearly to the poor inexperienced girl who was trying to serve customers with the correct dishes as she was obviously new at her job. This actually made the whole experience even more fun as it was good to see that the restaurant management cared for her. I would certainly recommend the place and will be going back there again.The only criticism is that the menu cards were a bit grimy and "curry stained". Service was a bit patchy with courses being served to diners on the same table with slight delays and I got the impression that there was just one chef delivering all the orders but the quality of the food was worth the delays. As we went midweek, it is possible they were caught out by their own popularity and hadn't anticipated the number of customers.

Looks rather unappealing from the outside (neon 'pizzas/currys/kebabs' sign for the take-away side doesn't really inspire confidence) but once inside, a cosy, welcoming ambience settled the mood. Decent menu with good variety for a small restaurant. Best Indian food I have eaten locally. Well priced. Staff attentive and hard working. Will definitely be back.

This restaurant is quite new to Kilmacolm. Being local we decided last night to have a carry out from it. We had Chicken Pakora and Mushroom Pakora to start. Unfortunately the batter on the chicken pakora was very heave and doughy and the chicken inside was so overcooked and dry not at all nice. The Mushroom Pakora was a bit better the mushrooms inside were lovely but the batter was still a bit doughy. For our mains we had Lamb Karachi which was absolutely fabulous no complaints in that direction. The food is cooked in front of you as you wait or you could phone ahead and pick up or they will deliver. The restaurant looks very small and I don't think we will ever be in it as it seems to lack atmosphere. Unfortunately because of the standard of the pakora I doubt we will eat there again. Maybe the chef should pick up some pakora tips from either Chillies or Shimla Cottage both places being a couple of miles away in Bridge of Weir. Pick up your pakora and we will definitely go back.
