On the recommendation of our daughter who has spent more time in London than my wife or me, the three of us enjoyed the best meal of the entire trip at Sade. It was a warm late October evening and we met up dined al fresco. We each ordered something different and shared food with one another. I ordered a combination plate and everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I don't recall what my wife or daughter ordered, but I do recall enjoying the samples off of their plates as well. Our server recommended reasonably priced wines to accompany our orders and we all enjoyed the pairings that we received, our wine snob daughter included. Our server was extremely attentive without without interfering, and he did nothing to make us feel rushed even though we lingered for quite awhile after our meal was complete. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to dining there again the next time we go to London.

visited Sade on a Monday evening with a friend. Restaurant was not busy. Shared a (complementary) Humus between us - restaurant very accommodating as friend has allergies so bought out some crudites (fresh carrot/cucumber) to have instead of the bread. Humus very tasty. I had the lamb tagine, my friend had the lamb cutlets - both very well prepared - accompanied by a bottle of the house white and followed by coffee's came to £50 - very reasonable for the quality of the food and the service.

I visited here late on a Saturday afternoon with my wife and son whom we were visiting as he is at Uni close by.We checked out the billboard menu outside, and to be honest, that due to the menu being quite extensive (I've watched Ramsay) and the fact that the restaurant was empty whilst others nearby had customers I would have looked elsewhere but for two things- 1) My son pointed out that it had a decent sized veggie menu. 2) The very cheery looking waiter stood in the doorway saying hello. The interior is clean and modernish but not new. The Portugese waiter was friendly but not overbearing, and offered us the perfect level of service. Bread and humous both delicious was served whilst we waited for our starters which arrived reasonably quickly. To start I had soup which was very good, my wife had fried mozzarella and I forget what my son had, we were all happy with our starters. Our mains arrived about 20 minutes after our starter plates were cleared. My son had the veggie moussaka which came with a large salad, he said it was exceptionally good, my wife enjoyed the chicken shish with rice and vegetables, and I tucked into the mixed grill which was a hefty plate of food spiced and cooked to perfection with rice and the vegetables the lamb in particular was as good as I've ever had. Our waiter knocked off during our main but took the time to let us know and say goodbye, and was replaced by a lovely waitress who was as equally attentive and just as friendly. 5 Peronis and 2 coffees finished it off, all for 78 quid with the obligatory service charge. I was happy with that. Would I go back? Yes, 100% I would, the staff were perfect, the food was good, the surroundings are fine and the toilets were clean. Next time I visit my son I'll be re-visiting Sade restaurant too.

This was an impromptu visit, we were in the area, hungry, I had a hankering for Turkish food & my partner has a taste card - Sade popped up in our search & everything came together nicely. We had a lovely meal at Sade. The staff were all incredibly friendly & welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed & easy & the food was delicious. I ate my own body weight in a mixture of hot & cold Meze. The hummus was the most delicious & creamy I have tasted to date (& yes, I have eaten it in Turkey). We didn't get onto the main dishes but I saw a lamb shank waft by & it was enormous, I will definitely make a trip back to sample the wider menu as the Meze was just so tasty I wasn't able to fit even a wafer thin kebab in! We both left feeling satisfied, both in terms of a full tummy & a happy tummy. I left wishing I lived closer or perhaps they could consider relocating south east? Worth a visit if you enjoy Turkish food.

We were welcomed very warmly and shown to our table; within a minute we had delicious bread and houmous which staved off the pangs of hunger for a while. I'm usually pretty decisive but spent ages browsing the extensive menu as everything sounded great. Our food was delicious and well presented. I particularly enjoyed the Turkish red wine. Our waiter was a bit of a character and convinced me to try Ayran - a traditional Turkish drink consisting of yoghurt, water and salt. It wasn't as bad as it sounds but I'm not keen to repeat the experience! We'd certainly eat here again if we were in the area.

I initially stumbled upon Sade by chance; having now visited a couple of times, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to almost anybody. The menu boasts a delectable range of starters, mains and desserts, all reasonably priced and affordable. Most of the mains are around £10-14, and due to the wide range of dishes on offer there really is something for everybody (Sade does some gorgeous vegetarian meals, including a vegetable moussaka that I would highly recommend). There are also some very generous set menus and meze platters on the menu, and it gets quite difficult to decide what to have! The food is some of the most tasty and well prepared that I have ever eaten, and the portion sizes are fairly ample. Even the little things, like the salad that comes with starters and mains, are delicious - the salad is really very tasty, made with fresh vegetables and topped with a lovely dressing. The house wine was of a high quality, and the servers are friendly and attentive - whilst the food tends not to come particularly quickly, it is always well worth the wait. The only thing that I would say is that a service charge (I think around 15%) is added to the bill automatically and this would appear to be non-optional.It's also worth noting that Sade is a member of the tastecard scheme: with a tastecard, the food works out very cheaply indeed - starters for approximately £2, mains at £5-7, and desserts at around £2.50. All in all, however, Sade is definitely worth trying with or without a tastecard.

Yet again we used the benefit of an Amazon Local voucher to try out a location we might otherwise miss out on.My partner loves a traditional roast dinner, so a 2 course dinner for 2 people with a bottle of wine for under £20 was too good to miss.On arriving at Exmouth Market we were initially taken aback to find that Sade was a Mediterranean restaurant, so we were a little unsure what sort of roast dinner would be supplied. No need to worry, the dinner was as good as any pub's, loads of tasty gravy (the critical thing for my partner), great creme brulee for dessert and the included bottle of wine was a very pleasant Sicilian Merlot. And all eaten al fresco - a great evening.

Staff were accommodating when we showed them our taste card on arrival and were friendly throughout. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry and happy to soak up buzzy atmosphere of our beloved exmouth market. And we were not disappointed with food when it did arrive. One should not necessarily be cautious about choosing a traditional sunday lunch at a mediterranean style restaurant, especially when so called English pub grub outlets throw it together and pile it high. However, were were taken to this restaurant by good friends who had an Amazon deal; so when I got over the shock of what looked like leftover, stringy lamb pieces placed on top of veg with sad looking roasties and a lonely looking Yorkshire pud on the side, I was pleasantly surprised by the rather delicious and intense flavour of the sauce and the tenderness of the lamb. Plenty of wine, one bottle complementary per couple and great company made this a very pleasant sunday afternoon at relatively low cost. Our friends wisely ordered bread; not something I would normally do with a roast but in the absence of more potato, it was great for mopping up the flavoursome sauce. We sat outside in the sun and the combination of wine and bread made this a rather pleasant and a somewhat continental version of the sunday lunch experience. The staff looked like they had had a late night and although they appeared somewhat worse for wear at first, they soon became friendly and attentive. Perhaps I should return to check out their main fare before commenting further.

I keep giving 5 Star reviews because, firstly I'm easily pleased and secondly I tend to visit restaurants because I'm using an Amazon Local or a Woucher deal. This visit was with an Amazon Local deal costing £19 which was a 2 course Saturday/Sunday meal of roast chicken or roast lamb with vegetables followed by a dessert, and including a bottle of white or red wine. We chose the white wine which was nice enough no complaints. The roast chicken was succulent with a lovely gravy, and the lamb was nice as well, in slices. Only slight winge was the fact that we only got two roast potatoes, which looked a bit lonely on the plate. Followed by a nice baked lemon cheesecake.Next time we went with the same deal, they had completely sold out of the roast dinners, so we were offered meals from the main menu, rather than coming back another time. We settled for chicken and lamb koftas with rice and veg which were lovely and tasty, followed by a hefty piece of chocolate cake. Top marks for Sade giving us those deals rather than us having to return at a later date. I'd definitely go here again with another deal like that!

It was a lovely sunny day so we preferred to sit outside of the restaurant, so the waitress put outside a table for us, which was very nice touch from them. Steak and the side was tasty. The wine was averagely, nothing special. The waiters (especially the Hungarian waiter) were polite and friendly. In the end of the main course the Hungarian waiter offered (does not included in the woucher) desserts, so we tried the chocolate mousse which was the best dessert we ever had. In overall everything was delicious and great service.

Visited yesterday on Amazon Local deal for Roast dinner for two. Surroundings Ok, but atmosphere very nice and relaxed. We had the roast lamb and whilst I agree with another reviewer that the portions were very small, the quality of the food was excellent and the flavours made every mouthful a pleasure. The lamb was cooked beautifully and the accompanying sauce was excellent. This was folowed by a very small slice of lemon cheesecake with lemon sorbet. again, each mouthfollow was a pleasure. Despite the size of the portions, my daughter and I were completely satisfied. As the saying goes, less is more and it was certainly true in this case. I will certainly be going back for more. The only reason for rating Sade a four and not a five is this is not a fine dining restaurant and the decor is a little tired, other than that, what a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

When our actual ordered dishes arrived, we queried what the first dish was and the waitress looked like she was about to be beaten in the backroom by her manager and was genuinely scared. What transpired then was a catalogue of rudeness, time-wasting, horrible guilt-trips and bad attitude from the two managers. At first the waitress asked the chef who said we could have the dish for free as it was their mistake. We thought this was a nice solution and decided to leave a nice tip as we'd quite enjoyed the dish. Then when the bill came they had put the full price of this mystery dish on there and got quite rude when we dared to ask what was going on. What followed was bout half an hour of us waiting around while the two managers berated the waitress publicly, kept shooting us dirty looks and generally arguing amongst themselves in an ever-increasing charade of awkwardness, so much so that the two ladies in our group felt so uncomfortable that they had to leave. The manager came over and started saying that he'd have to pay for the dish, it was our fault somehow and lurked around waiting for us to concede (which we didn't out of principle as they'd been so rude already about the whole thing). Two of us stayed there, patiently waiting and trying to ignore the bitter vibes from the managers. After they'd wasted about 30 minutes of our time, one of them came over with the bill, where they'd not only left the mystery dish price on there, but also added another thing just to spite us. I pointed this out and said it wasn't fair to charge us for something we'd never ordered and in a huff eventually they produced another (correct) bill.We wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible as the atmosphere was so unpleasant, so we paid in cash (service was included) and waited patiently for our change. After a while we stood pointedly next to the manager while he cashed up, thinking that surely they would at least give us the change. He didn't and made a point of turning his back on us and walking outside, having stolen our change. Genuinely shocking. The dish in question was their "Sade Special" which was the most ridiculously overpriced dish. £13.45 for something no bigger than their small plates. It doesn't surprise me whatsoever that Sade is always empty of customers. I thought it was because there were so many better options in Exmouth Market, but I realise now that its because the management team in Sade are such nasty bitter people and their customer service skills are non-existant. A shame as the waitresses were so pleasant and the food wasn't bad, but it was a truly horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there.

Booked a table through Tastecard, when we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted with a big smile until I mentioned that we had booked and were using Tastecard. At this point we were taken to the back of the restaurant. We placed our order and it took 10 minutes to come back and tell me that my starter wasnt available which I find hard to believe as it was 2pm on a Saturday afternoon probably the busiest night they have. The food was good quality but the service shocking. Not once were we asked if everything was ok, also 12.5% service charge added to the bill which under normal circumstances I wouldnt mind paying,As previous reviewers have mentioned the toilets and the stairs to the toilets are not that clean. Would we return? NO I am assuming the lack of service was because we were using a Tastecard, if the restaurant doesnt want to take customers with the card dont accept the reservation.

Staying at nearby hotel and ventured out for food, happened across this place and gave it a go. Excellent service, good priced menu and not extortionate wine menu. Chose the set menu and wasn't disappointed. Fresh, flavoursome and good value, the chile sauce was excellent with the mixed grill. Slight isue with the bill was immediately rectified with no arguement. No complaints at all, very good food, good service - recommended.

I came across this restaurant with the Tastecard app and yes I admit I was attracted by the picture of Jude Law who was once in there.. We were showed to our table by the manager who was not very welcoming to say the least. Our waiters were then a lot nicer though. Food-wise, it was ok. We shared the fried mozzarella which I wouldn't recommend and the grilled prawns to start. I then had the kofte as a main. The meat was moist and really nice and had good flavours. The chili sauce that they give to compliment the main gives a nice kick to the meat. Now for the bad, a service charge of 12.5% is automatically added....As for the restaurant itself, I think they could do with some renovations and a massive spring clean. You can see that everything is dated and is starting to fall into pieces.. Also worth noting that the toilets and the stairs to go down there were disgusting.... Just hope that the kitchen is in a better state... For that reason, I won't be back to this restaurant.

Visited this restaurant last year, and gave it a good review. We returned again last week and were extremely disappointed. We had the set menu, and although the starters were good and well presented, the main course was poor. I had the chicken which was supposed to be marinated, but all you could taste was oil, both on the chicken and vegetables. My friend has honey glazed lamb, but there was no taste of the honey and was very fatty. Requested small portion of potatoes which the waiter said they would do and give extra vegetables, but this did not happen. There was a carrot and courgette which was not even cut up. Even the drinks that we particularly asked for 'no ice' arrived full of ice. A very disappointing evening. Not likely to return

Faced with only a few limited options on xmas eve, Sade's doors were open, and staff welcoming. It would be interesting to see what it's like on a busy night as it's a great space (with a curious mixture of styles for the decor). The complimentary hummus was fantastic, and a house red of Merlot very drinkable! The lamb shanks fell off the bone, and the grilled prawns beautifully seasoned. Only complaints were that the veg with the shank was a limp mess (but flavoursome). The homemade chilli dip (like a salsa verde) was amazing. One niggle is that the menu is far too extensive. A lot of very similar dishes under different headings, in different portion sizes. All that meant is that it took a little longer to order, and more wine was drunk!

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We were looking for a restaurant that was open on a Sunday afternoon, prior to attending a concert at the Barbican in London. A quick perusal of one of the multitude of restaurant booking sites threw up the Sade Restaurant and Bar. Firstly the good. The staff were attentive without being all over you. When we arrived we received a very nice warm welcome and were taken to our table. On the booking form we did happen to request a table by the window. We were actually given a table just about as far away from one as was possible. The complimentary warm bread and houmous was very pleasant and the waiter took the time to go through the various menu options and dining packages that were available. As noted by an earlier review, the drinks when ordered came promptly. This was only marred by the waiter bringing the wrong drink having mixed up the beer I ordered with another diner's choice. We both ordered form the theatre menu. The starter options were a little thin on the ground, being just four. There was a red lentil soup, falaffels, deep fried mozarella and an advocado dish. I plumped for the deep fried mozarella and my other half for the advocado. The mozarealla, three pieces with a side salad, was actually quite pleasant, but really very bland, the advocado tricolour was a few slices of advocado with a few slices of tomato and few bits of mozarella. It was all presented very nicely.Having finished our starter, the plates were taken and within a couple of minutes our main course was there - all a bit too quick for my taste. When the mains came, a special mixed grill for me and the vegetarian moussaka for my partner have to say that there were a little disappointed. My wife's moussaka was at best luke warm. My mixed grill, if you can call one piece of lamb kofte, two small pieces of grilled lamb and two even smaller pieces of grilled chicken, a mixed grill was disappointing. The meat was greasy and the rice that came with it was very salty. The vegetable side dish was very pleasant thoughI decided to forgo the limited desert options on our particular chosen menu. My wife went for the baklava and instantly wished that she hadn't. I headed straight for the coffee.A word of warning. Should you need to use the toilets, be very careful. The stairs are very steep. I cannot actually remember if there is a handrail, from memory i dont think that there is. If you are the slightest it unsteady on your feet or have issues going up and down stairs, i would suggest you go elsewhere. Also, the toilets themselves were not that clean. Finally a word on gratuities. A discretionary 12.5% service charge is automatically added to your bill. Yes, I know it is discretionary, but I still think that the decision to tip or not, and how much to tip should be up to the diner. If the service is average, I will tip 10%, if it is good, I will tip15% and if it is very good I will tip 20%. If it is lousy i will leave 10p ! In this case the service was exceptional and deserved a higher tip than the automatically added 12.5%, but I did not give it, because i do not like this automatic adding of a tip. As I said, it should be up to meSo conclusions. In that part of London there are not that many options available for pre-theatre dining other than Indian, so we were pleased to find somewhere to eat at 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant itself was nicely laid out. As I said, we requested a table by the window and ended up in an alcove at the back of the restaurant, despite a couple of window tables being clearly available. The service was very good but the food was really not that interesting. Perhaps it was down to us choosing the wrong menu. Would I go there again - sadly the answer that is No. Would I recommend it to friends - again I have to say no. If I had to give marks out of 10, I guess 5 would be about the score

We came here, as my dad had visited under its previous ownership and I was not disappointed. Within a short while of arriving, we were presented with a lovely creamy houmous and warm breads whilst mulling over the menu. Drinks came promptly with a smile. We both chose the mixed menu labelled as healthy (not sure how deep fried cheese is healthy but it was delicious!) and it came beautifully presented with 9 separate little pieces, including a filo cheese samosa type thing, broad beans with a yoghurt, a little delicious aubergine and tomato stew and a falafel ball, with perfectly cooked lamb and chicken skewers on the side not to mention more bread and houmous! There was only one part I was not as keen on but that's because am not keen on raw onion. My dad just about squeezed in some baklava after and we had mint tea. Though it was quite late, we managed to get a table and sit down to a lovely meal. There aren't very many restaurants in this area but there are a few of them on this street. The prices were average and comparable to other restaurants on the street. They even had a 2 course dinner special for about 10 pounds and a lunch special for about 7 pounds. There were 4 of us and between us we ordered a lamb shank, a mixed grill ( part of the 2 course dinner special) and a spicey lamb stew. All were fanastic and authentic. We wanted baklava which was on the menu but were advised it wasn't great that day. Honesty is very much appreciated. So instead had the chocolate cake and lemon cheese cake to share all around. I went to Sade with a group of family to celebrate a 30th birthday. The decor is great and the food is variable - my chicken shish was lovely, the chicken tagine however was apparently very bland with little to recommend it. However, what was really disappointing was the attitude of the staff. The woman in charge was incredibly abrupt, barking at us, and both she and a young waitress asked us for our orders almost as soon as we'd been given the menus - and then proceeded to do that multiple times - we were not lingering over them unnecessarily and the restaurant was far from full so there was really no reasonable cause behind it. I literally had my dessert menu for a minute when the waitress asked if we were ready to order - I said give us a couple more minutes and she was back at my side in under 2 mins! This happened numerous times throughout the evening. I think the staff there need to understand that they can really put a downer on someone's special occasion - they need to think about their attitude!

I've come to Sade every day for lunch for the last month - that's how great I find it. I stumbled upon it one day as it's been near work, and after one taste I was hooked. The restaurant itself has a clean, comfortable atmosphere - nothing tacky like you find in a lot of Mediterranean restaurants that use lots of stereotypical decorations. At each meal a basket of warm sesame bread and the most delicious hummus I've ever tried is brought to the table once you've ordered. They have a very extensive variety of food on their menu, but my favorite is the spinach and feta parcels for appetiser, and the seabass with vegetables and mashed potatoes for the main. Actually, as I'm a bit health conscious, I requested the dish without the potatoes and a double portion of vegetables (stir-fried and delicious!), which they were very happy to do for me. In fact, the service was friendly and prompt, and everyone was always very kind from day one. The prices are more than reasonable, and they have many fixed menu options and accept tastecards too.For price, service, atmosphere and quality of food, if I ever want a good Turkish meal in London, this is where I'd go.

Ate here in a large group on 19th October after a Sadler's Wells matinee. I booked the table online through the restaurant's website, which gave us a 20% discount on the food bill. [As an alternative to the online booking discount Sade also offer another discount if you show your theatre tickets when ordering]. It is confusing that the restaurant is called Sofra and Sade on Tripadvisor, when it's actual name is Sade, and there are two Tripadvisor sites for it under both names. There are also two websites. Most of us ordered from the Pre/Post theatre menu which is good value for money @ 2 courses for £12.95 or 3 for £14.95. Particularly enjoyed were the avocado, mozzarella and tomato starter, the mixed grill and the Sultan's Delight. Main course portions were a good size. Chocolate mousse and baklava were much enjoyed for dessert. The House wine is excellent value. A couple of us had the Healthy Eating set menu and this hot and cold meze was particularly beautifully presented as well as being delicious. A complimentary appetiser of warm sesame seed bread and hummous and free drinks with the bill were a nice addition. Service was unobtrusive and efficient and the atmosphere in the restaurant friendly. The seating was particularly comfortable too and we were not rushed through the meal in order to free up the tables. I'm completely bemused by the mixed reviews some people have posted and wonder if they are disgruntled competitors? I'm in my 50s, fussy about the quality of food, service and hygiene as I used to run my own catering business. In my view, Sade is an excellent choice for a good quality meal at a reasonable price within 5 mins walk of Sadler's Wells. All 12 in our Group have commented on how pleased they were to have discovered Sade and I'm sure we will all all eat there again soon.

Being in London and having a Turkish restaurant in Norwich (Yemek Yemek), we certainly needed to do some benchmarking in London.Me (chef and life time Turkish food cook), my brother, dad and husband had been advised by staff member working in the nearby Holiday Inn to try this Turkish restaurant. It was a great opportunity tfor us to dine in a different Turkish restaurant in comparison to the ones we had often been to on Green Lanes. Being a chef and knowing the Turkish taste, I told the owner and chef of Sade "This is the best Turkish food I have had in London". We have tried very expensive posh Turkish restaurants and also cheaper-cafes in London but none of them gave us the experience we had in Sade. We shared our dishes including Lamb Tagine,Sultans Delight and a mixed grill. They were very well seasoned and beautifally cooked. The Lamb Tagine is definetely is to die for! As a chef I can easily tell you that Sade uses the freshest and tastest ingredients .I am really dissapointed to see bad comments about Sade's food as they certainly dont deserve them.
