Sabai Sabai Central in Birmingham

Food was in my opinion for £70, 2 people, worth less than £20. Not seasoned very well or unique in flavours as compared to other Thai restaurants I have been too. Some staff were rude, very uncomfortable environment. Would not go here again or to their other chains.

Went today. The appetiser platter was nice, very fresh, loved it but we were dismayed to see we were charged twice the platter price for 2 people. They explained because the fish cakes, prawns, chicken satay and sweetcorn patties were 2 in quality but paying 21£ for this was too much. The main is ok nothing to write home about. The quantity of food is very less and the taste is bit bland, not very flavourful. They asked us quite firmly to leave our trolley at the greeter station. The waiter was nowhere to be seen the chilli oil we ordered didn’t come with the food and when we asked for it, there was a separate charge for it although we weren’t initially informed. Altogether it was not a very good experience, the pricing is also a bit high and tables for two are too near to each other.

Booked for 14 people and the food and service were perfect. The best Thai food I have had. The service team were superb as well. I would definitely recommend coming here.

I recently dined at Sabai Sabai and was thoroughly disappointed. The menu offered various protein options for curries, including duck, but when I tried to order a duck Massaman, I was first told it couldn’t be done due to "health and safety" and then that it wouldn’t taste good. This made no sense, especially since I’ve had the dish elsewhere and enjoyed it. The honey duck I did order tasted off, like they had substituted honey with maple syrup. The service was equally poor, with inattentive staff that needed chasing for both mains and drinks, despite the restaurant being quiet. Overall, it was a below-average experience.

We had a large party booked for 16 people. We had two members of staff looking after us and I can’t thank them enough for how accommodating they were. The food was delicious, we couldn’t fault anything. The staff were there whenever we needed something and made sure myself and my party had an absolutely amazing evening. The food was out really quickly and plates also cleared just as fast as soon as we finished eating. Thank you for bringing out my birthday cake as well. The staff made sure we constantly had drinks and with a large party like ours there was always someone that needed something but the team members did not bat an eyelid to get us anything we needed. Thank you so much again and hopefully see you soon.

Got the set menu, plenty food for 2 Tasted great

Disappointed! Today I went with a group of friend for lunch, but upon arrival was told that although our small 5 month old baby was okay to come into the restaurant, the pushchair was not. This was disappointing as this is not something I have ever experienced in any of the other Sabai Sabai restaurants, having gone to all but the Mosely one. The gentleman who served us said the restaurant was a strict no pushchair policy but did not give reason or justification as to why. This was upsetting to hear because although our 5 month old baby was okay to go into the high chair provided, I was hoping to come with another friend in 2 weeks time but as her baby is new born and not yet able to go into a high chair, having to hold her baby for the duration of our lunch is off putting when simply allowing the pushchair could be an instant fix. The food was great but the no pushchair policy will certainly put me off booking in future.

Was excited to try this place since I don't have a go-to restaurant for Thai food yet, but my experience was very mediocre I'd say. Geng Kiew Wan - Green Curry: portion size was very generous; bigger than expected, which was nice! But for a place that boasts a high dining experience, the presentation felt a bit uncaring with some sort of coconut paste on top which looked toothpaste-like and very sloppy... Very unappealing and unappetising to the eye. Unlike the thin Green Curries that I'm used to, the consistency was much thicker than expected, similar to South-Asian curries. However, the taste was actually quite delicious. Rice had to be ordered separately, so I ordered the Thai Fragrant Rice to accompany the curry. I paid £4.35 for a small bowl of rice which was very dry, clumpy and lukewarm; the total opposite of it's name which was very disappointing. Regarding the service, the gentleman waiting our table didn't seem very attentative and seemed reluctant to serve us for some reason, with some attitude towards fulfilling small requests like supplying a single fork and a few extra napkins. However, a new waitress appeared later who was very kind, asked us how we were doing and brought water for the table, so the staffing was 50/50 for us that evening. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, big seating areas with a dim light setting during the evening. After this experience, not sure if it's worth frequenting for myself, but I will give it another try some day.

Attended due to cocktail weekend and received the most prettiest tasty cocktail

Food service was terribly slow. Over an hour between ordering and getting our main course. Other tables arriving after us and getting starters and main courses ahead of us. Table booking was for 45 minutes, so we’d expected a quick meal. We had to ask where our food was, apparently there had been ‘a misunderstanding’ Really interrupted our afternoon plans. I’d have been able to understand had it been busy, but not only having to wait, but also no serving staff noticing we hadn’t been served isn’t acceptable.

Cocktail weekend visit. Tumble in the Tropics rum cocktail certainly did make my taste buds move. Very pretty floral presentation, unusual flavour thanks to the kalamansi. Definitely recommend.

Great as an introduction to Thai food. As a Thai chef I would say it was all a little too sweet vs authentic dishes, but I understand that this would appeal more to Western tastes. I would definitely visit again with friends as they would be sure to enjoy the food. AB, our server Abraham, was fabulous. So attentive and responsive, helping us with our miriad requests (such as extra chillies and spoons to eat with) and yet still discreet, perfect customer service.

By far, this is one of the best Thai restaurants in Birmingham city centre. The food tastes incredibly authentic, and every dish is consistently excellent. The chefs each have their unique touch, but I can assure you that all of them create fantastic Thai food. I usually order a variety of dishes when dining with a group. Everything in the photos are my favourites. I can't single out any particular dish because from starters to mains, and even desserts, everything is amazing. The flavours are just outstanding, and I’m in culinary heaven! The music was a bit loud but the staff were very accommodating. We tried the set meal for 2 and despite having a big appetite, the missis couldnt manage to finish even half of it!! She told me to stick to the cocktails. Fat cow lol Overall though what i smelt of it was soooo nice

Wonderful food, wonderful staff, wonderful atmosphere. We hosted my husband’s 40th birthday here. 28 people came, everything ran smoothly, the food was exceptional and we had a brilliant evening.

Food was bang on!!! I can't wait to go back and it's an absolute treat to the tastebuds. I'm craving it every day and it is one of my best experiences in the UK and inexplicable. Keep up the good work!

First off, the food is nice. We hoped it would become our Thai restaurant of choice after Zen Metro recently closed. This was our second visit but we won’t be back. For some reason, despite there being free tables on the ground floor and we had booked a week in advance, they put us in the basement. The basement is dark, blandly decorated and smelled. The toilet is on this floor and one was frankly disgusting so this might be where the smell was coming from. We were the only ones down there until another couple came. They asked to be moved but this was refused. When we left, there were still free tables on the ground floor so why we were stuck in the basement was anybody’s guess. Plus, they add a ‘green’ surcharge to your bill. I’m sure they would take it off if you asked but most people are too embarrassed to say anything. A tip if you want to stay in business, don’t put people in the basement.

The foods are really good. We really enjoy it. Staffs are also provide a really good service.

I asked if I could have the pad thai with no egg, but when I started eating I could see that it had egg in it. It was really bland even with the toppings that they give you alongside and I ended up having stomach pain a little while after eating it. It seems like a nice enough restaurant but the food doesn't match the standard that they set in front of house.

Abraham our waiter was so attentative he really made an effort to ensure we were all taken care of.

Superb quality food, nice ambience, and good value. There with business colleagues for lunch. Service was a bit slow, however, but still polite and friendly.

Lunch mezze platters were delicious and the cocktails were amazing! Can’t wait to visit again!

A solid four star meal. Not authentic or exciting but not a disappointment either. Understand that the dishes have been catered to the local taste buds but surely we can get the right vegetables for the right cuisine in this day and age. Mangetout and baby corn should not be near a Thai dish. The duck roll and papaya salad was the best of the bunch. The service was pleasant and the atmosphere buzzing. Overall we had a good time.

First time visiting the Solihull branch for lunch and it was stunning! The decor was beautiful. Very clean and great staff. Service was excellent. The food was great standard full of flavour. We ordered the set menu for 2 which included great starters including sweetcorn fritters, money bags and chicken skewers. Everything was delicious. For our mains we had a few options - pad Thai, chicken Thai curry and garlic and pepper prawns which came with unlimited jasmine rice. All items had amazing flavour. Really good for the price! We’ll deffo be going back.

Party of 8 given a nice large table. Nice atmosphere in restaurant. Good choice of dishes on menu. I had Fish Cake starter which were tasty and good portion followed by Penang Curry and Coconut rice. Both were excellent. Be aware of the 20% service charge though.

Lovely lady very helpful deserves a pay rise

Popped in for a small bite, had the fish cakes which were nice and a cup of tea, but nearly £16? My friends at home in Thailand are shocked, this would cost the equivalent of 55p
