Lovely range of beer but relatively expensive compared to other bars nearby.

There was an error on the ticket, we solved it gracefully between all. Wasn't easy after a few drinks. It was fun after all . Food was tasty.

This review is purely for the security guy that was on the door 24/10/24 He had a youth that was kicking off and causing a disturbance. He handled it so well compared to other door men over the years of being out on the town. Absolute gentleman, and very professional 👏 please acknowledge him as a fantastic member off staff to this establishment

Fairly traditional pub in Haymarket close to the confluence of trams, railways, buses and roads, so it can get busy, especially when the rugby is on at Murrayfield. That busy-ness can translate into noise at times, but generally there is a good atmosphere in there. I go in there fairly frequently to meet with friends.

Very old school classic pub filled with regulars. Was a very cool place. Good cider on tap. Only bummer was the menu was outdated online from their own site and listing and they claim they’ve told management to change yet it doesn’t get updated.

A very sociable and nice bar. Drinks and food can be ordered directly at the bar. You can really have a good time here in the evening. If you have any questions about drinks or similar. the employees always help.

A nice historic and traditional bar with a friendly vibe. Not all the draught options were available on a weekday afternoon but the prices were reasonable for the location. It’s nice that there’s a small amount of seating outside, which a brilliant spot to relax in the sun and people watch. Well worth visiting for some culture and I’ll be returning.

As pretty as the house is on the outside, it is just as nice on the inside. We were there for an aperitif and had a nice chat with locals😃

We are visiting from Canada, staying nearby and wanted to eat where the locals eat, this place was spot on! Great atmosphere, good food and the staff were lovely! Highly recommend!

The fish and chips were great. The local beers were delicious. I was introduced to a delicious new whisky. The service unbeatable.

My friend & I only had a couple of drinks in the lovely seats at the bar. The decor is lovely, mostly wood and brass with plenty of light through the large windows. As a sober drinker I was delighted to find the cost of a pint of soda & lime was just 90p!

Looks like a lovely pub but they clearly weren't prepared for the busyness of the football. Downstairs was very busy and drinks only (fair enough) so we went upstairs for food. After finding a table we were then told they were no longer doing food at all (this was in the middle of the day) and we couldn't get drinks up there either, essentially rendering that whole area pointless. A shame as we were looking forward to some food and drinks before the match. Will try again on a less busy day as it looks like a nice pub.

Asked me to cover my football shirt as they did the home fans. Had a great time in there,drinking with the regulars.

The upper part of the bar was specially opened for us as a group. The food is very tasty, the pricing is very simple. There are main courses for £16.00 each and various smaller dishes to share for £5.50 each or 3 for £15.00. The portions are all very rich and large. The cocktails here are very tasty and well mixed. All employees are extremely friendly and helpful.

Love this pub on the way to Haymarket. Good choice of whiskies and beer.

Good selection on wine. Food was mediocre. Down side was blonde hair bartender seemed as though he had taken something. Maybe a drug test on staff in this establishment.

Venue hasn't changed much in the last 30 years. A haven for good beer and whisky. Could use a few 0% drinks as these are growing in popularity recently.

As a Bay City Roller fan of the 70's, Ryre's bar was a stop I had to make. PS: The fish and chips were great too!

By far the best waiting room I have ever visited at a train station! Complete with digital departure board, so you are not late for your train.

Nice pint of Local beer. Plenty more choice aswell in here. Good atmosphere, plenty of customers from 18 too 80. Does get busy in here so if it is you won't get a table. Right next door to Haymarket train station

Great beer, food was plenty (fish & chips) but chips were too lightly fried and the fish was barely unsalted.

The pub is very pretty. However, we were there in the early afternoon, so it was rather quiet. We didn't eat either.

YOU CAN'T BE THERE IF YOU ARE UNDER 18. I sace you some time and embarrassment. We haven’t been served and kicked out since I was there with my two teenagers. They said that they won't serve anybody younger than 18. Even if we only want to eat. I haven’t seen any sign of that on the homepage or here. It was embarrassing and shocking. I never met anything like this before anywhere in Europe.

We came to eat there twice during our stay. I ate very well and the atmosphere was very nice! The price is affordable and the food is very good. I had a hard time finishing my cheese platter. I was no longer hungry. I recommend the pub is beautiful

Superb pub a stone's throw from our hotel on Haymarket and a great discovery. We ate there twice on a quiet Sunday evening and on Monday evening with much more atmosphere. Very good meal at fair prices. Dishes to share for small appetites or discoveries. Choice of the first evening with soup of the day. The next day soup and a large plate of cheese, it's huge even for a French person and very good, apart from the fact that it's crackers that are served and not bread 😁 good choice of beer and whiskey. You want to eat late and a little outside the city center, it's perfect, I recommend it without hesitation. It’s next to the tram so very easy to access 😉

We came here through a recommendation. We can only recommend it, great building, delicious ales🍻, good, freshly made food, fast and friendly service. Spent a wonderful evening here, was our first here in Edinburgh - just a lovely end to the day!

Nice pub I’ve drank there for years good service usually unfortunately drinks were cleared by a member of staff from our table whilst we were at the toilet I approached the staff and she confirmed that she’d removed drinks from the table and gave the drinks back to the bar who had poured them away after I spoke with him he wasn’t what I would describe as hospitable and refused to replace and or refund in not so many words fo ( his words not mine) is what I was told as a manager like he says he is I’d expect a better conclusion to their mistake

We ordered 3 nachos bowls and two drinks. The portion of nachos might not seem much but they are heavily topped with cheese, jalapeño, sour cream, salsa and guacamole, they were very filling; quite a steal for 5£ each. I would go again and recommend it.

We popped into Ryries late on a sunday afternoon, the place had a lively atmosphere and a good mix of people. We were made welcome by the friendly and attentive staff behind the bar. There is a wide array of beers available and several real ales/ hand pumps. I chose to have a Happy Chappy followed by a pint of Jarl. Both were excellent! There are various sharing snacks available at very competitive prices and from what we saw, the food was of good quality and arrived quickly. The decor was old type pub and fitted with the location. The only critiscism would be one or 2 corners of the pub/ floor could do with a wee sweep. Overall, a great experience, and we will be back next time we are in Haymarket area, and we highly recommend you do as well.

We wanted to go for whiskey and a menu since we saw in the reviews that it was pretty good, but when we arrived the menu had changed and everything was quite expensive, so we left.

Had seen the place a few times and liked the look of it and we managed to call in on our last night and it didn't disappoint, lovely interior,good range of drinks,will return when next in the area

The ambience is great, exactly what you would expect from a Scottish bar in a very old house. The food was also very tasty and cheap. But the best thing was the service; very friendly and helpful.

We came here at the suggestion of our host in Edinburgh, and we’re sure glad we did! I’m pretty sure we were the only non-locals there which seemed kind of unusual, since it’s in the middle of the Haymarket area just across from Haymarket station. Apparently, the bar has been there for quite some time, before the station was even built. The atmosphere is great, the service was, friendly and the food is outstanding. We ordered fish and chips and sausage over mashed potatoes blanketed with a rich brown gravy. Yes, these are typical UK bar items, but the flavors were well balanced, and deep. The fish was flaky and had a wonderful crust. The sausage was cooked to perfection, and the gravy was outstanding! The chips that came with the fish were stunners! I kind of want to go back and ask if the chef will put the gravy over the fries for me as dipping them in it was delicious! They have a great selection of bruise on tap, and a very extensive whiskey menu. Each of our meals was 16 pounds per and the cost of the drinks was on par with the other pubs. We have been to. If you’re in the area, we highly suggested it… Especially if you’re looking for more of a local vibe.

Busy staff very helpful and competent. We had just got off the bus from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Needed a wee break I had a half pint of light ale and May had a white wine. Very old public house clean and tidy.. Quite a crowd in were loud and friendly.. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I normally only pop in here as I wait on a train but was in with a friend.Busy as ever but unknown to us they have an upstairs.we popped up and loved it and could have stayed all night but eventually she had to get a train.
