Date of visit(8/12/24) morning time. My family and I were visiting for the weekend and decided to go to Rabble as it was highly recommended. When we arrived for breakfast, the place was quiet and not many customers. The man who served us had to take a few minutes to “check for a table” which was strange. He also had filthy runners… We were left reading the menu for over 15 minutes despite it being clear we were ready to order. The staff weren’t busy so we had to ask one girl can we order. After my mum asked her this she had a disgust look on her face and replied “what do you want” twice. To follow that my mum was shocked and asked “have I done something to you” the waitress was not phased by this , so we got up and left and said we would not be eating here. We had also asked for the manager to which she replied that she was the manager !! She also had filthy runners… We all left upset and shocked and how rude she was and the hostile atmosphere.

Please don’t go!! Had the worst dining experience, the food was slow to appear, the potatoes were inedible, the food was cold and flavourless. The staff were poorly trained, the service diabolical, and the manager was clearly out of her depth and positively rude. Will never go back and I urge everybody to stay away!!

Stayed three nights at Rabble Taphouse and Grill at the end of November for my partners birthday, overall, really cannot fault as the prices were comparable to one of those dystopian ‘hub’ hotels or languid aparthotels that keep popping up, neither of which I tolerate. Hotel was clean and organised and staff very friendly, if a little hectic for breakfast service. Check-in and departure were smooth, lots of good facilities in the large and clean bedrooms and breakfast the two days we ate was enjoyable. Only criticism, and it feels a little harsh, was the sleep deprivation enduing noise, we were woken each morning around 6am by the first of what appeared to be half a dozen bin lorries hurtling along Thistle Street, and despite traveling at what appeared to be 50mph plus, also engaged in emptying one bin each full of glass bottles. This would go on for around 2 hours before, defeated, you were forced to arise, unrested, and by this stage, with a headache. As this is not directly Rabble Taphouse and Grill failing, overall scoring remains high, however, perhaps the venue could look in to noise reducing glazing, especially at the rear of the property.

Had breakfast here as staying at Frederick House hotel - the place is beautifully decorated and day 1 was nice but I had a continental plate which obviously was cold and food was nice - day 2 was awful - staff were rushed off their feet, had to wait an hour for our breakfast and and by the time it came it was cold - asked to swap out haggis for black pudding and had finished my breakfast before the pudding came out! Clearly need more staff - then it might be ok. It's not disabled friendly!

The experience was underwhelming, with inattentive staff and a dismissive attitude toward issues. My full breakfast, The Rabble, arrived barely warm, and the poached egg had an overpowering vinegar taste. When I raised the issue, the staff rolled their eyes and, rather than re-poaching the egg they said it wasn’t possible without the vinegar taste, so it was replaced with a fried one. The rest of the dish was reheated instead of freshly prepared. My son’s The William Wallace tattie tot skillet was served hotter but suffered from rubbery cheese, left too long under a hot lamp. Unfortunately, the food and service failed to deliver—all style and no substance.

I used to visit this place many moons ago when it was Rick's Bar, great atmosphere, excellent cocktails and service, diversity of different ages. Not everything changes for the better. Clearly looking for a much younger clientele nowadays. Visited on a Saturday afternoon, the ubiquitous studenty/trendy (is that word still "on trend"?), loud, impersonal and quite unfriendly. Supposedly table service but the young waitresses were too busy posing & flirting with the bartenders, so very difficult to have them actually do their job and actually serve us punters. Bartenders were good and friendly. Can't be bothered with anywhere that doesn't respect customers, there are many better places to spend an afternoon with friends. Wasn't impressed with anything in Rabble and will definitely avoid in future. RIP Ricks - even the decor is rubbish now.

The room is great, but having to walk through a restaurant/kitchen to get to the rooms was unpleasant. The WiFi was basically non existent. There is no lift for luggage either. It’s extremely anti-accessible. There was also a ridiculous amount of noise you could hear from the room because it faces an alley with the backside to a few restaurants/bars. The rooms were very warm. Even with the windows open and the fan provided on.

The rooms are small but no space has been created to put away clothes. The box was full of iron and ironing board, cups, etc. No storage or storage space in the bathroom. The room wasn't clean either. When you go from the restaurant to the rooms, you have to go into a dirty stairwell that smells awful (old grease and dirt). Except for two waitresses, the staff is arrogant and not friendly. At breakfast you wait forever, sometimes 45 minutes, for the food. You can't park in front of the hotel either, even stopping to store your luggage is tricky... The only positive thing is the location, you can reach the center in barely ten minutes on foot.

Room ok but at the rear of the property just above where they dump the glass! Very noisy. Staff are charming but the management are remiss in looking after solo travellers. Dinner on Saturday night with a reservation I was assigned to a table adjacent to the bar in and out between couples and groups. My order took 30 minutes, the pork belly had to go back for crisping. I'm talking about the restaurant because I didn't know it had rooms. My family and I have been in Edinburgh this September. We had dinner 3 times at this restaurant. The attention was exquisite. Everyone very friendly, especially Christine. The food is delicious and they have longer kitchen hours than other restaurants. Furthermore, they do not exceed the price. It is true that in general Edinburgh has been more expensive than Spain for us, and with the currency exchange even more so, but this restaurant is one of the closest in terms of quality/price ratio than others we visited.

This review relates only to the pub/restaurant and not the hotel! We went during the Festivals in August, so the place was rather packed and noisy (the music could be turned down a notch in my - old - opinion). Probably due to the fact that it was very busy, service was a bit slow, but the drinks and the food were really good. The cocktails were amazing. But what really impressed us - as Belgian tourists - was how incredibly nice the whole staff was. The place became our HQ during our stay in Edinburgh and we will definitely go back when visiting again! Thank you for your amazing welcome!

Got the food (2 burgers) - it was fine, nothing special at all but for £18.95 you’d expect a little better than fine. After we received our food the service stopped. No check back. No offer of another drink. Had coats on and ready to leave before we could get our bill (even after asking for it when the plates were cleared). Dreadfully rude man at the host stand. Came for “boozy brunch” and the original girl at front said that’s fine have a beer first outside and come in when ready. We came back in 10 minutes later and the guy at the front now said you haven’t pre booked and aren’t welcome to order from that menu even though we had perused it for 10 minutes while enjoying a Guinness. He rudely said you can’t order from that menu and stomped us to the worst possible table in an obstructed corner (the place was half empty) and flew some lunch menus down in a huff with no apology. Popped in without a reservation and, despite it being very busy, we were easily accommodated and the staff service was excellent.

Don't waste your money, the food is poor at best along a flat pint then an evening later vodka and coke

We were staying at the Frederick House hotel across the road. Breakfast at the Rabble was included. The place has a friendly and welcoming ambience and the menu has a great selection of breakfast meal options. We tried different menu items on the two days and all were excellent. The service was friendly and quick. Great job guys, especially Victoria who made us feel welcome.

Staff are nice. However, the portion of food is less than you thought (based on the price)

I’ve never felt so safe in a late night bar before. Head doorman was fantastic and diffused a physical confrontation in the middle of the night. Brilliant atmosphere and musician Richard Jenkins was fantastic. Will definitely be back!

Delivery took 2.5 hours, chips were burnt. Order was wrong, ordered plain as I’ve got a dairy intolerance. Could taste and smell the butter mixed into the buffalo sauce, i’m sure it was done with good intent but even if I was just a picky eater all the onions everything was picked off and still couldn’t eat it. Certain wings were dark and looked inedible. When I told them I got the wrong order I was ignored. Wouldn’t recommend.

We came here for breakfast as we wanted to try a Scottish breakfast. The service was fantastic and the kitchen also deserved high praise. Even if you just want to drink a coffee, it's worth a visit as it was sensationally good. Next time we visit Edinburgh we'll stop by again!

This place is fantastic. It has a cozy vibe. The women who work there are competent and caring. The pastries are top level, as is the coffee. The menu is small and features a good mix of sandwiches, vegetarian items, breakfast items, and pastries. Seasoning is perfect. It was so good that we went back a second day on our three day visit.

Me and my friends were in Edinburgh for only 3 days and every single day we went to Hasan’s restaurant and had the best food ever. He is a really nice man and amazing to talk to! With love, the three kids you fed for 3 days
