Me and my friends were in Edinburgh for only 3 days and every single day we went to Hasan’s restaurant and had the best food ever. He is a really nice man and amazing to talk to! With love, the three kids you fed for 3 days

I'd suggest employing another person with you + keeping the donor hot enough. Mine was almost cold with no spices. Also the ventilation isn't the best.

Big mistake. The worst meal I’ve ever had and I cannot stress that enough. God only knows how this place has so many good reviews. I ordered a doner kebab but what I got was a plate of meat and salad. None of which was fresh and was accompanied by a bowl of stale bread. Disgusting and sadly, it has completely ruined my evening. The place was also filthy. Can’t believe I ate there. Disgusting.

The best kebab in Edinburgh. Everything is made from scratch by the chef himself including the flatbread. The portions are big and more importantly the food is great tasting. The Chef is super friendly and I honestly return many times because of him! I also recommend the chicken and lamb on the coal if you have time to eat in :D

For what this small place lacks in ambience and (whispers) cleanliness, it more than makes up with friendly, kind service and mouthwateringly good food. This isn't a quick in/out kebab shop, but a proper Turkish restaurant run by a gentle proprietor who cares about the food and the people that eat there. We brought a good bottle of red and shared some starters and chicken + lamb shish each. A perfect meal - just wish it was busier in there!

Easily the best kebab in Edinburgh. Everything made fresh, including the bread, as well as a great range of mezze and stews. The meats are all incredibly tender, and there are extensive veggie options too. Whole shop is run by one guy who clearly puts his heart and soul into the place, and his establishment deserves far more recognition than it has.

Ordered on Deliveroo, the food was really tasty and lots of flavour. The pide was delicious and would definitely recommend, and falafel and doner kebabs had great flavour and a good portion size - just over a foot long! However, not five stars as kebabs were cold (even though pide was hot), suggesting they'd been left on the side for quite some time. Overall though, really great food.

Came highly recommended from a friend and I can see why. The amazing display of food catches you as you walk passed. Hasan makes everything from scratch, including his amazing pillowy flatbreads. We started with homemade baba ganoush, which was delicious and made me feel healthy eating it. My Adana kebab was a huge portion, cooked perfectly with a side of garlic yoghurt and chilli sauce. It also came with both a tasty bulgar wheat dressed in a tangy tomato sauce, as well as a portion of fluffy rice all for under £12. My partner had a massive chicken kebab with the meat being succulent and smoky from the charcoal cooking. Hasan laid down a generous, vibrant salad and more of his tasty flatbreads that he passionately rolls out right in front of you. Worth noting it's also BYOB and there's a handy Oddbins a couple of minutes away to pick up wine or cold beers. Hasan was a very warm host, always checking if you need anything and chatting away to guests. He's clearly very hard working and passionate about his food. Check it out!

BEST DONER KEBAB! So where do I begin with this gem. The owner makes the doner meat himself, he then serves it on a freshly hand stretched dough to make the nicest naan bread. The food was AMAZING. I have had the conversation with my boyfriend that while there are many places in Edinburgh that are good, there are very few we’d go back to again. I would go back here any day and everyday. The highlight was the aubergine but also the kind service. Don't let the outside fool you! Beneath the broken tiles and posters that would rather fit a coffee shop, is the best kebab you will ever eat. The meat was juicy and tender with the homemade wrap made before us, the skinny long kebab was perfect as you would get the perfect ratio of meat to vegetables every bite! This restaurant is living proof to never judge a book by its cover. + plus the baklava's were delicious.

Amazing food and sweet owner. The kebab I ordered was made fresh and was so juicy inside. The rice and bulgar wheat were both very tasty, I could have ate that by itself. The portions may look small but there was a salad on the side and additional bread so it did fill me up well. My friends ordered a wrap and it was hand made infront of us and not pre packaged wraps! I think that’s a very rare find. The only downfall is that the restaurant doesn’t look very clean with the tables and the broken tiles. The tables weren’t wiped but the owner cleaned it for us without being prompted. I really did enjoy my dinner here, I wish I lived in leith so I could go here more often. The baklava as well was delicious, it was my first time trying chocolate baklava and it was genueinly delicious. I’ll also go back to try kunafa which is freshly made (so place your order 20 mins or so before leaving) I think the tram building has affected business badly so definitely go here and try the food!

Turkish Street Food is the new kid on the block on Leith Walk. I took a walk around there last Sunday and grabbed a Lamb Donner. Now I am not usually a donner man, usually go for a Lamb shish. I don't usually eat donner because I worry about the quality of the meat. When I saw the lamb spit, I could tell just by looking, the meat was top notch. The shop owner explained he makes the donner spit himself. Very interesting. You know you are in a good place when he starts stretching and shaping the flat bread by hand. So home I went to eat. This donner was unlike any donner I have ever had. The meat was fantastic. I wonder whether he adds some liver to the meat because it had a gamey note to it. This is top quality lamb, not oily or greasy. Bread was great, lovely variety of fresh salad and a fine shop made chilli. This was an exceptional kebab. Lamb donner with some chips £7. I will be back very soon.

I recently visited this dump and had one of the worst experiences I've lever had at a bar. To start, I participated in a drinking contest that was completely unfair. The rules were changed on the spot, and there was no transparency about how the contest was being judged. But what made things worse was the behavior of the bar manager. Not only was he dishonest about how the contest was being run, but when I raised my concerns, he was dismissive and rude. It became clear that the staff were not prioritizing safety or fairness. As a woman, I also felt deeply uncomfortable at times. There was no effort to ensure that the space was welcoming or safe for all customers. The manager’s attitude and the overall environment made me feel unsafe, and I would not recommend this bar to anyone, especially women. This place needs serious management changes, and I would urge people to stay away until the bar addresses these issues. There are plenty of other places in town where you can have fun and feel respected.

Food looked as if it had little to no care put into it what so ever especially the caesar salad. It was anything but a caesar salad and looked like out of date lettuce (small portion also) with far too much dressing on it which brings me to conclusion that the salads were not prepared to real Italian standards. Really disappointing.

The experience was underwhelming, with inattentive staff and a dismissive attitude toward issues. My full breakfast, The Rabble, arrived barely warm, and the poached egg had an overpowering vinegar taste. When I raised the issue, the staff rolled their eyes and, rather than re-poaching the egg they said it wasn’t possible without the vinegar taste, so it was replaced with a fried one. The rest of the dish was reheated instead of freshly prepared. My son’s The William Wallace tattie tot skillet was served hotter but suffered from rubbery cheese, left too long under a hot lamp. Unfortunately, the food and service failed to deliver—all style and no substance.
