We visited the Seafood Bar after seeing it when we bought fresh fish from the adjoining shop. First impressions are that this is just like an Italian simple quayside cafe with an English Brighton Lanes/Borough Market feel. Food a total surprise and wonderful. Those Posh Chips are deceptively filling and soooo delicious, fish roll, scallop roll etc superb. The mussels fresh from the landing boat smell of the sea! Staff very friendly (but not familiar) and always cheerful. I know all the positive reviews of this young cafe will make finding a table difficult but we have so few truly good places to eat that I have to take that chance. This is Nirvana for non meat eaters . Oh, I forgot the music in the area with bench tables and huge oil drum brazier in front of the cooking hut. Very Brighton feel with 70s/80s hits! We are off today for Sunday ‘lunch’ and shall be inside because of the rain. Husband loves the Champagne Beer. He almost fell over with shock at the low price too. I have Americano Coffee (no fancy barista stuff here) and it is seriously good. Wine list impressive, blankets to go over the knee should shivers set in as we are beside the quay. So if you find funds deny your overseas break this year, come along to Seafood Bar and enjoy the continental harbour taverna ambience.

An incredible find! The best and freshest seafood, simply cooked, with delicious layered “posh chips” in casual surroundings. Love it so much.

What a find! If you find yourself near Ypres Castle and the (very welcoming) Castle Inn pub, continue down the hill to this seafood bar. It's a pop-up manned by serious chefs and the seafood is divine. My husband said his oyster was the freshest he'd ever had and enjoyed his scallop roll. My dressed crab was delicious, all washed down with Three Legs and a glass of vinho verde in the sun with some very cool music in the background. Lunch for two £41. The adjacent fish market is excellent and we took away some fish packed in ice for transit. There you are, a mini tour of 3 venues. Check for opening times beforehand.

Great find. Went in search of seafood to take away and discovered they have an outside dining area serving delicious seafood. I had a crab sandwich and my partner had the cockles. Both were delicious. They also have a good selection of drinks. Several wines, beer was in tins but a good selection, my partner had a New Zealand IPA which he enjoyed. There were a couple of non alcoholic lagers and soft drinks for the non drinkers or drivers. The service was friendly and efficient. The tables were spotlessly clean despite being outside and were sprayed with cleaner and wiped down each time a customer departed. We went into the retail part afterwards and the array of fresh fish on sale was amazing. Staff here were also knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.
