I must say I went in this restaurant without reading any reviews. Downstairs was full so I was asked to go upstairs. Two tables were already taken - about 10.20 in the evening and I hadn’t eaten all day. One certainly wouldn’t choose this restaurant for its ambiance. As a frequent visitor to China I would remark that it was typical of China. Not perhaps that clean and limited attention to finesse. I ordered my meal - hot and sour soup, and for mains beef curry and egg fried rice. I was asked if I wanted the courses served together or separately. I said together was fine. The food arrived. It was excellent, served hot and was thoroughly enjoyable. Beer was also good. My waitress was attentive. I ate all the food served which served as testimony to it being good. Don’t judge a book by its cover or by what others might have written on it. A nice meal with two beers for less than £30 in central London. No complaints on my part. Loved this place and its authenticness. It’s your looking for more luxurious surroundings I’m sure there are other restaurants.

What an awful experience Myself and my daughter love visiting Chinatown, trying the different restaurants. This was the worst experience. I ordered crispy pork belly and rice, there was no crisp. It was so disappointing I left a fair bit of it but I was hoping for that crisp! My daughter had chicken fried rice. She had 3 mouthfuls and said the chicken tasted funny and left it. I tried the chicken and it was bland and felt slimy!!! I asked to take the food home, at this point when given the boxes they were pretty much thrown at the table, then the bill was thrown at the table. The food was awful and the service non existent. I asked for a reduction in the bill as the food was awful, apparently I was the only person who had bad food!! She took the service charge off eventually. Now on my way home and have a stomachache coincidence.. I think not... So many better places to try in Chinatown. I will never return

A very unwelcoming experience from the moment we walked in. Once we ordered the waiter looked really cross with us like he was doing us a favour? I asked if he was ok and he said that I’d ordered too much food for my kids. During our meal we never received our drinks and all the food was pushed on the table at once even though the set menu states a starter so I’d expect this to come out first. We then were witness to a full blown argument between the waiter we encountered and two diners who were explaining they weren’t happy with their food and the fact the air con was dripping on them and their food. The waiter threatened to ring the police on them which was so extreme and english law states if the food is unacceptable, you do not need to pay. Once he forced them into paying, they left and he began swearing about them in front of all the diners including my two children! When I asked for the bill they had put a 10% service charge on but I asked for this to be removed because of what we were witness to and the fact we never received our drinks and the attitude was awful. Another waiter told us it was mandatory to pay this fee but after I point blank refused he removed it. A new family had sat down and then asked what had happened, I went to explain and the waiter told me I was to leave immediately and speak to no one. Needless to say, he made the situation prove my point and the family left along with us. Do not waste your money, find somewhere where they appreciate your custom and respect the children. Awful establishment.

Terrible food, pork dumplings were spat out as the pork tasted 'off', beef noodles lacklustre beef chewy and 2 roast meats salty, dry and not nice at all, both me and my partner ended up ill with a bad stomach a few hours after consuming. Establishment was dirty and staff rude. If I could have given a zero rating I would. Utterly disgusting from cleanliness to staff to food

Great food, rushed service. Set menu was fantastic value and really tasty. I do agree with other reviews, we weren’t allowed to take our time and was told we needed the starters & the duck at the same time, shame as it wasn’t full so this didn’t need to happen. Let people enjoy their food without the rush.

I’ve read other reviews and have to agree that the attitude of the staff at times leaves a lot to be desired but in their defence it’s a busy restaurant and some of the clientele were a little challenging. I am commenting purely on the food and in that respect I cannot fault it. It was plentiful, fresh, tasty and also excellent value.

Terrible restaurant. The staff that greeted us were blunt and rude, seemed annoyed we were even there. Just before ordering our table made them aware of the allergies our table had and we were basically told to piss off and they would not accommodate anything on the menu to allergies stating they only put the allergy advice poster up for the law but won’t accommodate to any allergies. The waiter left before saying anything else and we went to use the bathroom, before we even decided we were not staying even for drinks the waiter came up to us and pushed me out the toilet shooing us away telling us the toilet is for customer only and to get out. Disgusting service and from the reviews seems we dodged a massive bullet here. Hopefully people read reviews before going to this restaurant as from the way they treat people they don’t deserve any custom

Absolutely awful. Went here thinking we would get a nice authentic Chinese meal in china town. Took a long while to get seated at the table, it was a Friday evening so that really wasn’t too much of an issue/surprise. The staff were relatively surly and rude to begin with but we looked past it. Then the food arrived, with our drinks order that took a good 50 minutes or so. I’d ordered a plate of ribs, and I think it’s fair to say those ribs had never seen a pig in their life, I don’t know what meat it was but it was absolutely vile and the coating of “bbq” was actually sweet and sour. Complained about it, the waitress proceeded to inform us how nice the ribs are and basically it’s my fault for not liking them! The chicken balls also tasted very strange and not at all pleasant. Avoid, this place is cheap for a reason and you’d have a better dinner fishing out of the bins in the street.

A lick of paint, some new menus, bit of staff wellbeing and this place could be better quickly.

Went with two friends before a show, got to the restaurant around half 1 and they immediately asked what we wanted to drink, we said we needed a couple minutes and they didn’t come back for over 15. After taking the order of drinks and also food, I ordered a 2 meat bbq dish and noodles for side, they brought over the meat first and then took almost half an hour to bring any other food over including my friend’s. The duck was barely edible, basically no decent meat on there apart from fat, gristle and bone - fortunately the char sui pork was nice. My friend said their veggie curry was bland and it was, as were the noodles which I guess were supposed to be similar to chow mien style. The dumplings tasted stale and some had barely any filling in. We then ate what we could and asked for the bill, to which the guy said he would bring it over but didn’t for over 10 minutes - the restaurant was not remotely busy so I don’t feel there was any reason for this. We agreed amongst ourselves that we wouldn’t pay the 10% service charge as the food and service were bad, we then got up to go and pay at the till but the guy said no go and sit down but we’d already got up so we settled at the till near the bar. Myself and one of my friends paid by card and when it got to the last person I explained that we would not be paying the service charge and then the waiter got angry and said we had to - I said it is discretionary and would just pay for the food not the service (which is true, you don’t have to pay a service charge if you don’t want to) he then started to raise his voice and said there was a sign saying it’s included on the bill and you have to pay! By this point we needed to leave to get to the show and were fed up. My friend handed him £20 which was more than enough for her food and we left. Disgraceful service and poor quality food - don’t be fooled by the delicious crispy duck hanging in the window or the person ‘greeting’ customers outside.

We were looking forward to an authentic Chinese meal in China town. How disappointed were we! I think we probably picked the worst Chinese restaurant in london when we walked into this one. All meat chewy, dry and tasted very old and reheated. The crispy pork had never been crispy. Crispy chilli beef was sweet, not chilli and horrible. We left almost all of the food and told the waitress it was inedible. When we got the bill nothing had been removed even though it had been sent back uneaten, there was even a service charge added on extra! We complained again and they removed the service charge but non of the inedible food. So we had to pay £92 for a meal we didn’t eat.

Called in for dinner to round a fantastic day off after the theatre. The restaurant is not the cleanest and the toilets are disgusting. We opted for the set menu for two but were then disappointed by the waitress’s insistence to serve all 3 courses at once. The food was found to be mediocre but what was worse was the rudeness and arrogance of the waitress. It was even more insulting to find a service charge on the bill which apparently is in the small print on the menu and definitely not made clear. I always tip generously for good service but in this case the service received was definitely not worthy of a charge or tip discretionary or not! When we politely asked about removing the service charge the waitress was again found to be rude and arrogant. We simply paid the bill in full, left the restaurant and shall never return!

Really nice, friendly restaurant in the middle of Chinatown. Be careful when ordering as the portions are large. Each main course is enough for 2 people with rice. We ended up with a lot to take home with us. Every dish was fresh, hot, and very tasty. The salt and pepper squid was some of the best I have had. A light batter with great chunks of perfectly cooked squid. If you are having it as a starter, I recommend sharing it to save room for the main courses. Considering it is in the middle of Chinatown, it was not expensive. 4 people could eat well for £60-80 with a drink each.

I ordered 3 dishes here whilst visiting London Chinatown. The grilled pork dumplings were floppy, they were clearly cooked earlier then put in the microwave to warm up (£5.50). The special fried rice was indescribably terrible, it was not seasoned whatsoever (£8.50). Out of all...

Called in after Leopoldstadt last night, and was a miserable end to my (otherwise inspiring) evening. The danger signals were there, I guess. The food quality rating is only 4/5. The staff ignored me (I was alone), and took a couple standing behind me in...

Came here for dinner last weekend after a theatre trip with my partner and our 12 year old son. It was a warm evening and the tables outside looked inviting and the place looked busy, which I took to be a good sign. However, looks...

There were three of us for dinner, and we were able to sit outside. The staff is so busy coaxing people in that they don't provide great service once seated. It took them quite a while to take our order, which was easy, as we...

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ruyi. We received our meals quickly and they were roll-your-eyes-to-the-ceiling good. The menu had so much to choose from; not a problem as I have every intention of visiting again. There are many main-meal options from less than a...

After seeing many people eating outside it looked like a good choice, wrong! We foundthe service to be very slow and miserable waiting staff, the food to be average and just about luke warm . 2 other tables were complaining about the food as we...

Great food , pleasant and efficient service. Enjoyed the dumplings, the shredded beef and sizzling black bean, noodles with pork and the ubiquitous chicken fried rice. All tasted very fresh and were among the best Chinese food we have eaten. Had a pleasant table on...

The food is not bad but the service is horrible. The waiter accidentally split a lot of soy sauce on my jacket when taking the dishes away and when we called him back he said we did it ourselves!! He was rude and arrogant. There are plenty of similar restaurants on the same street, better try some of the others!

We ordered at 9pm. At 9:45 the food had not arrived (the restaurant is only a 5 minute drive). We called the restaurant and they told us that the food would be with us in 25 minutes. We called again 45 minutes later as the food still hadn't arrived. They told us "6 minutes". It wasn't until 20 minutes after that when the driver called us because he couldn't find the flat (not his fault). In summary: the food was fantastic and we would definitely order from them again. But we received our food an hour after it was supposed to arrive. This is unacceptable. The strange thing is that the exact same thing happened to us with a local Indian restaurant 10 days ago. Perhaps this is an issue with Just Eat and the restaurant didn't receive notification of the email, but if that's the case then the restaurant lied about how soon we would receive the food we had paid for.

I hadn't ordered from Yum Yum Pimlico for a couple of years so with family from overseas and Yum Yum just around the corner I thought that it would be worth doing a takeaway order as the food would still be hot on arrival and the food was always good. That was a mistake I won't make again. I ordered £56 of food to be delivered, after ordering it I received a call asking if I could collect it instead, which I did. Upon getting home with the order I and my family were appalled with the quality of the food. Three portions of egg fried rice which were completely brown from what I am guessing was soy sauce were inedible, mushy and devoid of anything looking like egg. The spicy garlic chicken was bland and more onions and bamboo shoot, I expected the onions and bamboo just not the lack of spice or flavour. The bbq ribs weren't very good. The meat was dry and the bbq sauce bland and it left my hands stained yellow, rather like turmeric would. The cashew chicken was more onions than chicken but apart from that not particularly objectionable. The sweet and sour chicken was sour. Far too much vinegar and nothing to sweeten the tang with a few token pieces of tinned pineapple for appearances. The spring rolls had been cooked almost to mummification. We threw the lot in the bin. After trying it all, looking for something that might redeem it we chalked the effort and cost up to experience and went out for dinner. Only the cashew chicken put up a gastronomic fight but was clearly not in the running for a happy meal award. I am embarrassed in the eyes of my family and utterly disappointed because I used to love their food, how close it was and quickly delivered. Never again.
