Rutland Arms in Hammersmith and Fulham

Booked a table for 5.15 to give us plenty of time to eat before going to a concert - at 6pm they told us our food would not be ready until 7pm - I explained our situation that we would not have time to eat our food and the waitress replied it wasn’t her problem - say no more - currently eating my dinner in burritos

Had the mussels and chips by the river – super fresh and tasty. It’s a great spot for people-watching, with chilled vibes and a varied menu. Big thanks to Gaz for the friendly and attentive service! Drinks were cold, food was spot on, and it’s an awesome place to kick back for lunch.

Hubert was so helpful with us, the staff are super friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for drinks after work!

Lovely friendly venue. Gaz the barman took great pride in what he was doing ie checking the glasses were clean before serving the wine, his service was fantastic to the point we stayed longer than anticipated.

What a spot. I have seen this bar many times on street view as I have traveled around London. I got the chance to visit it today 23 Feb with my wife as we walked along the Hammersmith bridge. It is one of the nicest locations in London. We went in for a drink and were greeted with a hello. We set for an hour are so having a few drinks and the good thing was we were not ask hurry up. The bar was beautiful in side an it was warm and comforting we didn't want to leave. We were in London for a weekend and are going back tomorrow night for food as it looked amazing. As we walked along the River Thames, The Rutland Arms looked inviting and then a staff member saw us and invited us in with a smile. This turned out to be the Manager, Chris, who is one of those welcoming people that encourages you to spend time in his company. We were seated at a table with a lovely river view and had the menu explained to us and recommendations that were appropriate for us. The food was presented beautifully and was delicious. As the late afternoon sun beamed in through the stained glass windows in this historic and sensitively updated pub, there was a warmth that only certain places can boast. The music played gave a great atmosphere along with the genuine hospitality from Chris and his staff. No better place to watch a sunset across the river through rose-tinted glass. We regretted having to leave to drive home to North London. Superb !

I love the aura in this place. I’m with my dad and he recommend this restaurant so many times. I was so amazed with the staff especially the one who’s wearing a pirate outfit. That was cool. And i told my dad i wanna work in this pub.. soon….

A very warm and charming pub on the Thames Path just off the Hammersmith Bridge, service was first-rate. Staff was very attentive to detail, and the server, Gaz, came by the table just the right number of times to ask how everything was. Food was delicious and the view from the window on the Thames from my table just made the experience perfect. Ideal location if you are going to see a play or film at Riverside Studios. Thanks to Gaz for his hospitality.

I go every Friday for food, drinks and karaoke. I was not disappointed. The Rutland Arms is one of the best pubs in the area. Not only is the food outstanding, the staff make the whole experience fun and the karaoke DJ keeps the party going until late at night.

What a great pub!!! You can sit outside when the weather is good. The staff are so friendly, happy and helpful. Good selections of drinks. Excellent menu and do gluten free meals, we didn't eat there are wrong time of day but the meals we saw being brought out from the kitchen looked great. They take cash which was a big bonus :-) . Fantastic service by Gaz. Couldn’t have done any more for us. Made sure my husband in his wheelchair could get in ok and that we found a suitable table. Venue eas lovely inside felt very homely in a traditional old pub way and food was great. Very quick service too. Thanks Gaz!

Lovely day along river just fancied a snack and a coffee. Very friendly staff member Gaz approached and looked after us. We both had sirloin steak ciabattas with coffees and a side of chips. All excellent. Prices very reasonable and noting that it was a Greene King pub will certainly be back for a more substantial meal and a pint of Abbot

We booked a table at The Rutland Arms as we were in London waiting to collect our daughter from Eventim Apollo and thought this pub looked ideal by the river and not too far away for dinner. Visited here a couple times recently and the place seems to have had a revamp and new management. Real ale was some of the best I’ve tasted in a long time, new manager obviously serious. Food and service nice as well.

A very rude bartender upon looking at my ID (a valid UK driving license) confiscated it, saying I 'would have to go to the police station a few days later to get it back'. This im sure cannot be legal. I had to go back home the same night to get my passport and prove it was indeed a valid drivers license. Person who took my ID was continually rude and agressive. Dijo eso y se quedó allí mirándome. No "lo siento por eso", no hay otras sugerencias. Los menús son cortos. Espero que el personal sepa si algo en el menú no está disponible en lugar de dejarnos esperar 10 minutos antes de avisarnos. - He ordenado otro postre (realmente para no decepcionar al niño, de lo contrario me habría ido para entonces). I was hunger for Sunday roast as living abroad now. As we strolled down the Thames from Hammersmith, we spotted Rutland Arms.The next store, the Blue Anchor, was busy so we opted less crowded Rutland Arms instead. It was a huge mistake. It was still lunch time and we were hungry. We expected some reasonable service and food. Prices were normal, however, we were told the food would take a hour!!! We had another appointment afterwards so we decided to stay.There was no apology or anything but just they made us wait. Staff were not friendly or anything.When the dishes arrived, it was like a ready meal instead of “home made.” It was obvious that they got it from somewhere. Never again for foods here. Better stick to drinks instead if stopping by.

This is the perfect place for a cool beer on a hot summer evening. It is a short stroll from beautiful Hammersmith Bridge and even if you can’t squeeze on one of table benches just join the lively crowed standing along the river wall and watch water, time and people flow by. The bar tender was super friendly and we were bobbing our heads along with him and the music while he served us a refreshing cool pint of IPA. Definitely beats the bars and pubs on other side of Hammersmith Bridge in regards to atmosphere and friendliness of service - there we could not even attract the bar tenders attention to order a pint! So turn right at Hammersmith Bridge towards the Rutland Arms - you can’t go wrong!

I am trying to drink away from Ealing at the moment Explore other places and have to say I am finding some great pubs, the Rutland Arms is up there amongst the best of them. Looks great from the outside and inside there is a choice of beers, lagers, IPA etc like I have never seen before. The neck oil was superb, and Lee the manager is a great guy, they don’t make managers / landlords like that anymore unfortunately. He really knows his stuff, both with friendly chat / banter and has selected the best choice of drinks I have ever seen. We both had the burgers, my friend and I (not Lee!) they were very tasty and good size portion. Fantastic place to be on a very sunny afternoon and I will be back again for sure. Well done, a real pub run in the old fashioned way!

My colleagues and I were looking for somewhere to hire for an event and decided to approach this venue as it was close to their work place. At first we though it was a good idea as the venue and location was ideal, it was along the river bank and had a very friendly/welcoming look to it. This notion was soon spoilt by the staff. My colleagues approached the bartender who was serving a male patron at the time, waited their turn and when the bartender was free asked him if it was possible to speak to the manager as we wanted a bit more information about the venue and our request. This man behind the bar (who quite frankly in our opinion disgraced the profession) in the most derogatory tone of voice told my colleague that “The manager is busy you can not speak to him now” and before my colleagues were able to enquire further were dismissed with an equally sharp “Thank you goodbye” from the bartender. As we walked away in shock by the totally unwarranted and disrespectful treatment dishes out by the bartender we over heard the male patron asking “What was that about?” and the bartender replying “I don’t know what they want or why they came her, it’s usually about money”. Now dear reader this man was partially right as it was about money but not what we in his inaccurate and biased opinion wanted to take away rather what we wanted to put in by hiring the venue and possibly making it our weekly visit due to convenience. Sad now and not because of his reply rather his attitude towards us we a happy to look elsewhere. It’s a shame when one person and their attitude spoils the hard earned reputation of an entire venue and in our opinion that is exactly what happened here. Please remember however that this may have just been our experience as or face may not have fit the location or ideals of this individual and your experience may be different and this was only posted to report our experience a while after the visit when we were able to gather our dignity and self worth back together. Nice Place, but I could not go outside due to the seating and my knees, but getting in was OK, good location by the River Thames near Hammersmith Bridge.

My husband and I met friends here on our first night in London. The location is lovely, right by the Thames. The ambiance is pleasant; the staff were friendly; and our meals were good solid comfort food.

We hired the upstairs Riverview room and used their catering for a Birthday party. Lovely large room with a great view of the river and Hammersmith bridge. It had a bar and dance floor with private loo. The Manager Lee ran the bar for us, and helped us set the room up. Totally helpful and good with all the guests. The catering was perfect, all freshly prepared and exactly what we had chosen. We were able to set the room up, collect our stuff the next morning and there was no pressure to finish the party.

Small portions of average food. Pleasant enough staff. Nice spot. Heinz condiments. Forgettable. Dog allowed in.

Malgré un service peu dynamique et une obligation de commander à la caisse et une salle de restaurant pas chauffé et soumise aux entrées et sorties des clients, nous avons passé un très bon moment au bord de la Tamise.

We live in London but had never been to this pub until yesterday when we came to watch the Boat Race. Great views across the Thames and yesterday was really busy with a great atmosphere. We enjoyed drinking at the outside bar and enjoyed the live music. We will definetley be returning!

Fulham away weekend and after breakfast and a good walk along the Thames, we arrived at the Blue Anchor to find it not yet open (Sunday morning). The reviews were good and we were looking forward to our visit but settled for the Rutland Arms next door as it was open and 'bloody freezing' outside!

Long queue, not enough servers, food took an hour to arrive. My companion's was served 15 minutes before mine - not civilised. My portion of roast beef was small and not very good. Can't recommend and won't return.

Came in here today as my husband works not far away. Like everyone says the views along the Thames are beautiful but it was too cold to sit outside for long so we moved inside. We enjoyed our drinks in the bar downstairs. Ladies toilets are clean which can be difficult to find with pubs in London. The manager Lee introduced himself to us and made an effort to chat with his customers which we found informal and friendly. Next time we will bring our friends and stay for dinner!

I've always liked the location of The Rutland Arms, and decided to go for a post gig drink on Saturday night. We arrived about 10.45pm, and looked forward to having a relaxing drink by the Thames; at 11,00pm sharp we were told in no uncertain terms that they were closing up, they started to upturn the benches all around us, and were told continually to drink up. People inside the pub seemed to be left alone, and I wasn't sure whether it was an outside drinking license issue, but regardless we weren't given any option, apart from "drink up please".

It’s by the river, it has spectacular views, perfect for a bright warm autumn afternoon. What could go wrong? Quite a lot. It’s a pub I have been to several times before so I’m no stranger to it. I ordered drinks, pie and mash and an open chicken sandwich and went out to sit in the sunshine. There were less than 20 people in the place, both inside and out, of which no more than six were eating. After waiting over 20 minutes for the food I went to the bar and asked what had happened to it. The polite young lady behind the bar said she would enquire. She came back with the explanation that it usually took about 25 minutes. I’ve eaten here often enough to know that was a a nonsense. Three people had ordered before us and only one after us. At that speed if the pub was full it would mean waits of several hours. After half an hour our food arrived. No problems with the pie, my mate said it was as good as usual. My open chicken sandwich, resembled nothing like before. I separated the chicken from the other meagre components. It total the amount of chicken was less than a tablespoon full. It was laughable, much to the amusement of some of the pubs other patrons. I asked to speak to the manager. He accepted that what I was given should never have left the kitchen. I asked for a refund, he did offer a replacement meal but frankly I had lost any enthusiasm to try another dish. In fairness to the manager he did refund the entire bill which he need not of done. The only person who had ordered after us waited over half an hour for a bar snack and looked pretty fed up. One of the three people who had ordered food before us showed me his steak. He had ordered it well done, no steak should ever be served well done, so you could say he deserved what he got. His steak was so over cooked it had almost the colour of charcoal. All this points to a malaise in the kitchen that was not there at my last visit just over a month ago or the visit before that. . I thought about what had become amis at the pub. I noticed it the last time and I noticed it today not only do the staff not engage in light conversation with their customers, the don’t with each other. So the place is all a bit dead, as if none of the staff really want to be there. I’ll go back because of the pub’s location but just for a drink. I have never been to this pub in the evening so it may well be different then. I hope it is

We used the function room last week for a group of around 40 people. The room was stunning, with incredible views of the Thames. It was a great Evening, the service was very good and everyone who ate seemed very happy with their choices.

We recently visited the pub for our monthly social - there was a huge group of us and the upstairs room was perfect. The view is incredible, the location super convenient and the little bar upstairs that was open for us was great for our needs. A fantastic function room.

Hot sunny Sunday afternoon in September & we were looking for a friendly pub on the river for birthday drinks. Shame we chose The Rutland. The first time I have EVER had to stand in a QUEUE to a bar in a London pub for a start. Then, when you reached the front of said weird queue, you’re served by the slowest, most miserably depressed looking bar staff you can imagine. 3 ladies who looked at everyone with total disdain. What a waste of a great location. Expensive drinks, messy layout, grubby loos, awful service and a bizarre queuing system. Won’t be back.

I recently came here for a works meeting with another colleague and we sat upstairs in the function room. Good size function room with great views of the river. We had teas and coffee during the meeting but stayed for alcoholic drinks afterwards, which were reasonably priced. Menu looked varied although we did not eat here. Service was fast.
