Never been really happy with any pizzas in London. Until we went to Rust Bucket! I was prepared to eat another sub-standard pizza but at the first bite of my salsiccia and friareli I realised this was different, this was the real deal! I had to talk to this shining star of a pizzaiolo and signalled him with big thumbs up. When he came closer he told me all about the care and expertise he puts into his pizza masterpieces - the high-quality types of flour and tomato sauce, the long proofing and the main ingredient: his passion for what he does. I can say more but, when food becomes art, words can’t do it justice. A presto!

Vito is not a pizza chef, the dough is made by the pizza chef who has been helping him for years. Vito is like a bad Disney character, he doesn't pay any of his collaborators! Ask any person who worked with him if they are happy to have worked for Vito.

I must have walked past the pizza part of this pub so many times without really seeing it , and what a gem it is . Lovely rustic decor and plants, and fabulous pizzas. Went with a friend whose sister lives in Italy , and he said these are the closest he’s had to Italian pizzas ! You can taste the wood smoke, and they’re made in front of you too !

Family visited Saturday night ordered 4 pizzas and staying warm in the pub. Vito smiley and welcoming as ever, lovely Mrs Vito welcoming and warm as always, they had a buzzer malfunction so brought our pizzas to our tables - the young waitress enthusiastic and professional, pizza exquisite. So wish this venture succeeds certainly without question one of the best pizza I’ve ever eaten and I’m a bit of a pizza snob. 10/10

My family are from Naples actually a place called Secondigliano. I miss the real taste of pizza from Naples. However the Rust Bucket in Shooters Hill at the Lord Herbert/Herbert Mercato and the Bull Pub is the real thing. A real taste of Naples.

Rust Bucket is in a residential area at the top of Shooters Hill. It's in the garden of the Bull pub. As a local, it's so lovely to have such a fantastic pizza place near to my home. They have a large, wood-fired oven that can cook 6 pizzas at a time. They offer a large range of pizza, calzones and sweet offerings. They specialise in white pizzas. My wife has never been a fan of pizza, but found that she loved their Salsiccia & Friarielli pizza. Until she had this, she didn't realise that she liked pizzas without the tomato sauce. Alternatively, our daughter loves their marinara pizza, which has no mozzarella. Rust Bucket is open for takeaway during lockdown, but we've also eaten in the pub garden prior to covid. I can confirm that it travels well, and tastes just as good when reheated in a microwave. And finally, the prices are really reasonable. We managed to get 4 12" pizzas for £28. Beat that Dominos.

Decided to try a new up coming local pizza place. Good to see this place actually make pizza on authentic base and that is a huge plus. Vegetarian options available but think there can be more. Boxes were wet which don’t know if due to oil or the fact it was raining so some part of pizza base was soggy. Room for improvement

This was a real last minute decision for a quick family pizza having received a WhatsApp from a friend with a strong recommendation to attend. We knew the location well and having see the gastro pub/street food revolution gather pace in recent years we were excited to see it had reached Shooters Hill/SE18! The welcome from the Rust Bucket staff was friendly and helpful and the menu and ingredients looked great. Not especailly good value for the size and the surroundings but just about fair. So we made our orders, received our buzzing tablet and headed into the pub for a quick drink while we waited. Last time I went to The Bull was when I worked the local council about 25 years ago and well.......it really hasnt changed much since the 90's! Maybe even the 70's. It is still very much a local boozer and not somewhere you'd go for a family meal. Not exactly unfriendly but just a bit unwelcoming to outsiders and very little space to sit for a pizza if you wanted to stay. Thats not the fault of the Rust Bucket but it could alter your view if you wanted to visit. The first two pizza's came within about 10 mins but the second two took another 10 mins which was a pain when you are eating as a group of four. Seemed odd they coudn't cope with 4 pizzas? But mostly the pizza just didn't do it for me. Despite the medium sized nature of the pizza they were still quite soggy in the middle which was presumably down to the rush to get them to us. Another 2-3 mins in the oven would have helped? But the main issue was the overly generous portion of Burrata served in the middle of the Inferno pizza. As a pizza which is designed to be 'hot' and crispy the idea of a very large, cold creamy ball of soft cheese just took over the taste sensation and spoilt it for me. On its own its delicous but just needs rethinking in the context of this dish. I think the others worked better but still didn't quite hit the heights expected which is a real shame a we really wanted to like it. Might try again in the Summer if you can use the beer garden to eat but won't be eating in the Bull again. Sorry guys.

Great people and even better Pizzas. Excellent food in an unusual location, we tried with my granddaughters aged 10 & 8 years, knew it was in a Pub garden so went prepared warm clothes and a blanket as it’s February. Staff were very patient whilst we ordered, kids thought they could order Pizza Hut pizzas (pineapple). None of that here only truly amazing Italian ingredients (must have the Burratta). Pizzas start from about £8 very reasonable as they’re about 12 inches. After ordering was told not to sit outside but would be welcome inside the Pub and they would bring pizza’s in. Again a really pleasing experience, welcoming staff and clientele a true old fashioned local and I can remember them. It’s a shame that there’s not many left now in London and the suburbs, all too often nowadays you meet someone in a Pub and don’t feel at all welcome it’s as if you’re bothering the staff asking for a drink. Still enough moaning, visit here for pizzas and a drink it’s a cheap night out.

Trust me if I am saying this was probably one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in London. These guys really know what they do, the pizza dough was as light as air and they use very fresh and top quality ingredients. Well done!

At last we have found Rust Bucket Pizza after being forced to move a few times over the last 3 years. Pizzas as great as ever, never let down. Fresh ingredients, thin crust, great variety and as tasty as ever. One suggestion, the patrons from the pub who are coming out to smoke should NOT be allowed to smoke near food preparation area, have them sent well away - for me it is a major spoiler.

There are imitation ‘pizzeria’ in London however this is the closest you will get to an authentic Italian pizza experience. Cooked in a traditional wood fired oven the difference in taste to other local companies who use electric ovens is worlds apart, however very little difference in price. If you want a great pizza then head to the bull pub on shooters hill road, SE18.
