Rumbles Fish Bar in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Very disappointing ordered fish and chips the chips were cold and hard I should of gone back and got a refund not what I expected won't use again.

Use Rumbles regularly, for piece of Haddock, sometimes with generous portion of chips. Cannot fault them for freshness and service. Recommend them.

We were feeling hungry so stopped at Rumbles Chip Shop in Gayton, I ordered and got given what I had asked for but when it came to paying they had put on 50p for the card transaction, I queried it but was told that is what they do so take it or leave it . I have since reported them to the relevant organisation as it is illegal to do this. I will not be going back.

Quite disappointed, my usual South lynn rumbles are amazing and never miss a beat but I was on my way home from a different route so stopped here I ordered... 4 sausages in batter with a small chips... I got home to find 1 jumbo sausage and 3 cremated small ones with chips but I paid £9.50 for that pitiful amount. Sausages said £1.20 on the board so that's £4.80, thus meaning I've Been charged near on £5 for chips??? I will not be going there ever again.

Ordered our plaice and chips and this was first time we have been to this fish and chip shop and the last People was friendly and polite but! We found the fish wasnt fresh and the batter wasnt nice and the chips wasnt cooked properly so after two mouthfuls so didnt want to waste it so we fed the wildlife with this food.!!

Good food, good service. Gaytons best. I couldnt fault the food and the service was second to none, quite reasonable too

Really friendly and go the extra mile in service. Prices are average. We just keep going back for more.

I very often find myself going through Gayton. after Medical Appointments. I have over the years, called in for something and chips, around 4 pm-ish. But over the last couple of months, I have called in for large sausage and chips, normally at its time of day, parking can be an issue, along with the normal queue, but not now, and the food is terrible. Although the couple who are behind the counter, are very nice, and respectable to customers, plus the shop is presented clean. Except an awful effort, has been made to distance customers from the till. With a black tape put at an angle, and held on the wall and counter, with scruffy parcel tape pieces, that will hold germs. Very off-putting and unprofessional and eyesore display. What is wrong with a Perspex Screen, like all the good food takeaways, so to protect both sides as much as possible. It's not expensive and sensible, plus how long will we need to protect ourselves from this Covid Killer. These cheap measures could be needed for the rest of this year, and more, so it’s a good investment. But as A food outlet, isn't it common sense for the staff to mask up, but they didn't, even when I asked, it was, I was a shrug of the shoulders, and carried on, as they are breathing over the food, when serving and wrapping. On my last two visits, my first revisit in January 2021, I was very disappointed with my order of large not so nice, sausage and low standard chips. I put it down to, just one of those days, edible, but only just. My next visit was last week. The sausage batter was so hard and dry, it cut the inside of my gum, and the sausage itself was rubbery to bite into. and the chips, well they are the worst I have ever been served, in my 68yrs. sharp, small hard dry sharp bits, and the larger chips were tasteless, greasy, also dry. that was surprising, as I had waited for them to be cooked. I’m certainly no chip cooking person, but all they tasted like, old burnt chip fat. I bought a nice big breakfast in Swaffham later, and sat in my car and enjoyed it. Of course, I threw the so-called sausage and chips, in our wheelie bin, when I returned home. Come on Rumbles Gayton. It's been a long while now, but in the past, If I call in at the Rumbles South Kings Lynn Shop, and I am happy to detour, and pull off the A4, to get what I know I will enjoy the selection and the food from there.

By far the best Fish and Chips in the Kings Lynn area, fabulously clean premises and friendly staff.

Both usually go for cod and chips and reliably good, been maybe 4 times now. Very clean and tidy.Always go for a Thursday to avoid any queues. Plenty of customers coming through the doors and the kebab skewers lined up to cook look very enticing so must try sometime. Looks as if you can have a wrap or pitta so would go for the wrap if so. Friendly guys in there too, and if you are really lucky you can park fairly close, sometimes maybe right outside.

Good food and generous portions served by friendly staff in a clean establishment. The fish especially are excellent and the "Rumblers Special" kebab is something everyone really should try. My only wish would be for a more spicy Curry Sauce please??

This Fish and Chip shop is in the centre of the village and opens long hours. There is a good variety of fried food with chicken and kebabs and the portions are really good with plenty of chips.

We walk often on Roydon Common and afterwards sometimes we make our way to Rumbles Fish Bar for a freshly cooked and therefore hot - fish and chip lunch! There is a little wait whilst the food is cooked - but its' worth it! We drive up to the Ashwicken turn off and sit in the car along the avenue of trees and enjoy the generous food and the tranquillity!

Well off the beaten track but worth the journey. Never mind the doner spit and nuggets on the menu, if you like that sort of thing; the cod was majestic in stature and flavour, and the chips portion nigh needed planning permission. Bravo

Always have a great fish frop here and the staff are always friendly and helpful.i have turned up twice now a 9pm when they are closing and the have cooked me fresh fish while I waiting which must make them late cleaning up.. excellent service

Just popped in as passing by in the car, all the fish was cooked to order so all very nice, chip portions are BIG !

Really enjoyed my lunch today and considering its only a fish and chip shop I wasn't going to write a review but I feel they deserve it, the chips were spot on as usual and a massive portion and the cod is just to die for

Although we live locally we don’t often go into Gayton itself unless we are coming back from the hospital in Kings Lynn. It’s then that we will stop at Rumbles for a Takeaway and either we are lucky but we have never experienced a bad meal yet despite see other reviews.I recall that on our first visit some years ago that the chip size portion was huge so now we always share one portion between the two of us. We always choose the fish (cod or haddock) without any salt or vinegar added. These are then wrapped up and we then reheat the meal in the oven when we get home. As I said, lovely fish and plenty of chips with no trace of bones and cooked in clean oil.Occasionally I may have to wait for Chips to be cooked but then we know they haven’t sat there drying up.

Only bought a portion of chips, but the menu is extensive and they seem to be open from lunchtime till late. Generous portion served, myself and daughter enjoyed. Would recommend

My local chip shop generally good. They serve a good variety of food and is always hot and fresh. Not the quickest of service and chips are occasionally undercooked.

We had fish chips etc etc it was first class the fish was so good ! Tha children had a variety of dishes pies ,chicken ,sausage ,the roast spicy potatoes were very tasty .The order was phoned and was ready when we went to pick it up twenty minutes later .Good value good food portions of chips were very large .

Rumbles have been in the village for a long while now and I have always found the food excellent. They also have a variety of other foods on offer Recommended

This is a village chip shop. It does a good range at a very good price. The portions are generous and the price is low compared to similar places. Never had a problem with the staff. Polite and efficient. The chips are lovely. I have bought from there a lot of times and I've never had a bad experience.

We've lived near here for 14 years. How dare people criticise one of the best F&C; establishments we've ever known! The portions are so generous that one serving easily feeds two. Pick up their leaflet and you can preorder. There is a pull in lay by for customers. Excellent value.

Been twice now. Clean shop, staff were okay. Don't expect chat or joviality though. Had roast potatoes the first time with my chips, I was surprised to see them served in a chip shop and thought I'd be adventurous. They were not nice- old lumps that were past it. The chips were okay, but not great. Second time round was okay, but not better. Portion sizes good both times. However, salt and vinegar, both times, was a bit thrifty and asked for more. On asking for more I felt it was asking too much of server. We went home and added lots more. There is a chip shop near Asda, Crispen and Fry, that's not bad, bit better, run by Chinese woman; Lovely woman, very friendly and chatty, although can't wrap up very well. But who cares when the service is great? I've yet to have great chips in Norfolk.

Was visiting in Gayton though we'd have fish and chips bad idea the chips had been kept warm even though they had only been open about 30 minutes fish batter soggy not crunchy the fish we asked for cod but it didn't taste like cod horrible

My family come here once a month and all we get is mash on paper , Even worse , We have all been ill from eating here yesterday ... The staff are hard to understand and put way too much salt and vinegar on the "Chips" that it could give me a heart attack ... 70p for a can of drink ? I should just go to the shop down the road and get one for 50p .... For what they charge , Its an absolute rip off and We are never comming here again !

Best fish and chips we have had for a long time. Great not to be ripped off. Lovely staff, all the food was freshly cooked, very clean and excellent value for money

We live 20 minutes from Rumbles & happily drive past 4 other chippies to get a Rumbles. Good portion sizes & lovely soft chips (my favourite, I’m not a crispy chip person!) Best chips I’ve had & I’ve tasted them from all over the country!

We have visited Rumbles numerous times and are always impressed with the quality and portion sizes of the fish and chips served. In addition the prices are reasonable and the speed of service is impressive too so that you never need to wait too long. I can thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Kebab cook while you wait.. Large cod usually cooked to order.. Great for that quick evening meal where you just want to sit at home in front of the TV and eat your food

Although mainly ordering Fish and Chips, aware that kebabs etc are on the menu. Used many times and never disappointed with the meal provided. Is only a takeaway

I visit rumbles fish bar about once a week for fish and chips the food is good also the portions are very large, staff are well mannered and polite.

Friendly staff and great chip shop that we use locally all the time. Have used for business and personally.

Since we moved into the area several years ago this fish & chip Bar (Take away only) has been a regular on our list of places we visit often. They have a circular wooden table outside which is the only seating but about 6 people can sit & eat there. They will take telephone pre-orders but there is no delivery service. The family that run the plaice (sorry couldn't help it) are lovely & always helpful & they cook as much as possible fresh upon ordering & they don't skimp on the chips!

This shop is open 11 am till 9 pm......i went at 3.30pm......the shop was clean however , the server only spoke a couple of words, I asked for haddock....i got cod....the fish was skin on, so I could see , I know my fish...i don't mind frozen at sea fish as this was, but it was tasteless......must have been defrosting in water for a long time...the chips were pre-cooked then refried for a minute....both fish and chips were cooked in fat ( solid vegetable fat comes in large blocks), it tainted both items, i could only taste the fat.....i won't go a second time
