Ruby's of London in Greenwich

Being gluten-free on a trip to London was hard, the tantalizing bakeries around every corner just looked and smelled so good. I stumbled upon Ruby by accident while meandering through the food area of Greenwich looking for something to eat, which I usually can't in food markets because of the gluten situation. Finding Ruby was a real treat for me. Not only are there many gluten-free options (most bakeries just have one if any) they were the best I've ever eaten. I got a salted caramel chocolate cupcake that I will remember for the rest of my life. The fact that it was all plant-based is pretty mind-blowing too, because the frosting was divine. I also got a piece of lemon/elderberry poppy seed cake which was insanely good. I also got a mushroom quiche to go for a quick snack which I ate a few hours later and wish I got more. Thank you Ruby for letting me have something sweet on my trip to London. (I gave the atmosphere 3 stars because there is no bathroom, so it was hard for us to hang out for too long. But I don't really blame them because all the people from the food stalls would use their bathroom.)

Rude and overpriced and you cannot eat food on the terrace that you purchased somewhere else in the market. An iced americano comes with water poured straight from the tap.

We bought some vegan and gluten-free cupcakes from here for our wedding guests. They were beautiful, and the guests who had them said they were delicious.

Went to Greenwich Ruby's this Friday April 19th, and it was really nice indeed. Amazing carrot cake! Even though it was like 15 minutes to close we received a very warm welcome from the staff and the service was great. Lovely person named Lara or Laura, not sure... anyway, good stuff! Greenwich market is great and Ruby's is making sure it stays that way.

We got an Apple Crumble Cupcake & 2 Americanos. The Cupcake was fantastic!! Not overly sweet. Perfect Apple texture and flavor. The Americanos didn’t stand out, but they weren’t bad by any means.

By far the best Vegan bakery. But you wouldn't know by the quality of their cakes that are vegan. A testament that if you are vegan or not vegan great tasting quality vegan baking is possible and can be the normal.

First time here but we’ll definitely become regulars! Everything is vegan and there are some gluten free options as well! The cupcake is perfect! The staff is super lovely!

I’ve been a fan of Ruby’s for London for a long time, since their early days of having a small stall in Greenwich Market many years back. It used to be a habit of mine, whenever I came to Greenwich, to treat myself to a variety of cakes and doughnuts as I’m gluten and dairy intolerant and they were one of the very few places that could do both. My family also have allergies so they loved them too. In recent years however, although I was thrilled they moved into a shop (well deserved) their variety of cakes dropped. I cannot have chocolate in any capacity, and yet they had a period of year or two where they just seem to make chocolate cakes. The base cakes, the flavour, the icing, etc. So I stopped visiting for a while due to this. But I was with a friend one March weekend and we decided to take a quick look, and was thrilled to see that more fruity/non chocolate options were back! I had an almond forest berry cupcake with peppermint tea, whilst my friend had an Easter treat cupcake and hot chocolate (she has no allergies, but always up for cake!) the cupcake was very moist and more-ish, but health portion for a lovely treat. The peppermint was also nice, sometimes I find it way too sharp but this one wasn’t - a nice surprise! My friend also loves their chocolate treats. I was glad to see that the cafe has many options for milk including coconut and soy. The atmosphere was ok; it was quite a busy day at the market, but we managed to find a seat fine and the place is quaint. Overall, as a long time fan, it’s been great to re-experience Ruby’s of London again. I will definitely be coming back more regularly once again.

Lovely café - and it happens to be vegan. I've enjoyed all the treats I've had: carrot cake, two-layer cake, muffins, stuffed cookies and mini banana bread. The savouries are great too - I had a “quiche and two salads” for £8, all very good. The four-cheese toastie is scrumptious - talk about comfort food! They sell bottles of water-kefir, as well as juices, and there are coffees, teas and milkshakes - several plant-milk choices. Located within Greenwich Market, off to the side. [four treats: muffin, bundt, biscoff cupcake, stuffed cookie]

Ordered a slice of chocolate salted caramel cake (quite thin) and a cupcake. Order came to nearly £10. The cake was quite flavourless and dry, definitely not enough icing/buttercream to make it worth the price. Cupcake was nice though with a better proportion of icing to cake. Staff was very friendly but super slow at the tills, which didn’t help the queue build up.

Got some cupcakes to takeaway. Service was excellent. Cupcakes were good, some better than others. A couple were very dense and didn’t have enough flavour but overall I’d recommend Ruby’s!

Customer service was outrageous. Manager was disrespectful and unreasonable. Would not let us eat in or out as we brought some of our own food in there but still purchased from Ruby’s.

Popped in for a late breakfast one Sunday on a visit to Greenwich Market, the food was nice and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The salted caramel hot chocolate was really lovely.

If I could, I would give 10 stars I had the privilege of enjoying a gluten-free and vegan cupcake. There were several options, I had a hard time choosing... the pastry was so delicious, the service cordial, the atmosphere in the place pleasant. Highly recommend

(Haven't actually been; this is an online order experience). Ordered half-dozen Carrot Cupcakes for my partners' birthday, as I wanted to do something different this year (I always like an element of the unexpected). After doing much research on every upscale/gourmet bakery (both vegan and non with ''vegan options''), I kept seeing Ruby's in various comments, as well as the Carrot Cupcakes more often than not. I emailed, asked if I could get just all six as carrot, as they only show this particular flavour as one of six of their mixed selection (I want to say Ruby's Favourites?). A very nice lady named Alice very graciously and swiftly replied that they could absolutely do that for me, and have them delivered for me as well (I've a broken back and could not pick-up; not in their radius). Phew! Now, carrots, and especially ones that have been exposed to any heat/cooking are my earliest memory of most loathed food; literal nightmares as a child, as those were the days you were forced to eat what was on your plate, and since my parents were awful, they would kind of torture me with them. Essentially: my partner would most certainly NOT be expecting these from me, haha. I'd done cake to death, and even vegan macarons last year, so....yeah. Excited, I was. They came delivered by a very nice man, and Matt was SO happy when he saw them! They look impeccable; even I was salivating. I didn't buy myself a separate vegetarian dessert this year, so we both tucked in, though I let him have my embellishments (he delightedly complied) of caramelised carrot curls and walnuts. The cupcakes, for me, were moist and lovely-tasting, even with the carrot; I'd not have known they were vegan, truly. The frosting is a bit sweet for MY own personal preference (delicious nonetheless), but he is who they're for, and he loves everything about them and keeps mentioning them (''can't wait for dessert...''). So, *very* well done, Ruby and Co. Thank you for making his birthday treat so memorable for him. And easy for me. Very much appreciated. Five stars. :-)

If you are craving a slice of cake this is a good place to go. For plant-based cakes, these are probably some of the best in London and I’m not vegan (just want cake, didn’t care what kind). I had a banana and walnut cake and it was so beautifully moist and what a great size portion as well. The star of the show however is the lotus biscoff hot drink. I have not come across anywhere that makes this so if you are a lotus biscoff lover, make your way here to try this drink. Perfect for winter as well. What made this even better… I got discount (NHS) as well! So this place gets 5 stars from me.

As a GF diner I was excited to visit the Tunbridge Wells branch. Won’t be going back. Website leads you to believe it’s good for Gluten Free diners but it’s not. No doughnuts or brownies. Half the cakes were not GF and neither were the sausage rolls. No soup available either! Had huge slice of cake which looked great but was rather dry. Coffee was good but expensive. Staff very cheery but unable to meet expected dietary requirements.

The lady at the till with the glasses was so helpful. She has a beautiful smile that makes you feel so welcomed. I tried the berry cake it was marvellous and crazy delicious

OMG - THANK YOU Ruby's of London. What a sweet respite from all of the carnivore and dairy choices of eating at Greenwich Market. Since I'm vegan, finding acceptable food can always be a challenge. But Ruby's made it easy. We had 2 different vegan sandwiches, which were fresh and quite tasty as well as some delightful vegan desserts (pistachio donut and brownie). Sorry, no pics as I was too busy inhaling all the deliciousness. It was just the perfect amount of light fare that I needed to recharge my internal battery as I continued through the market. Thanks again to Ruby's and happy travels everyone.

Great place for coffee and cake on edge of Greenwich Market. V friendly staff. Great air con (it was heatwave) and good choice of music. It’s plant based, not that you’d notice.

Today is my birthday, and carrot cake is my favorite cake. My usual conundrum is that I have dietary restrictions and cannot have carrot cake on my birthday unless I make it myself (which ends up being literal recipe for disaster). But this year is different. I’d like you all to understand the joy I had upon discovering Ruby’s of London. As I’m visiting London, and Greenwich is a bit far, I opted for delivery to the hotel. The glorious cake of carroty goodness arrived in the morning, and (shocker) the cake is amazing. I’m going to eat the whole thing by myself today with zero regrets. Thank you all at Ruby’s so very much for making my day so special and insanely delicious. 💕🥕🎂🫶🏼

The staff were so lovely and friendly. The food was an absolute delight. I've actually found myself pining for the asparagus tart that I ate on my visit. Super delicious, lovely gem of a cafe!!

Hands down the most delicious vegan gluten free cafe! So so glad I stumbled across this gem! I had the Vanilla Brownie Bite which was unreal. There were several GF/VG choices which is a real treat! I had a lovely americano too! I will certain recommend and visit again 🙌🏻

Everything looked immaculate when we arrived, really mouth watering my good. We met Dale and he was amazingly friendly, helpful, super accommodating and professional. What a great place, what a breath of fresh air… the food was superb and the service was outstanding… would highly recommend everyone to start their Sunday mornings off the sane way as my family and I were lucky enough to, today!! Popped in here for lunch, they have a pie and salad meal deal which is good value and delicious. The staff were really lovely and friendly so overall the experience here was great. The cakes looked delicious, I really need to go back another day to try them

To say that the candied carrot cake was a slab of Heaven would not do it justice. I had a wonderful experience start to finish and highly recommend any vegans and non vegans try it out! Friendly staff and delicious cake. I will be back

Taste wise I will give it 5 stars considering it's a vegan cake. But overall the price and the difficulty of getting the cake, made for us the experience as one time only.

Best sweets and quiches in the area

Ruby's of London vegan cupcakes are absolutely delightful! The flavors are incredibly rich and satisfying, and you wouldn't even know they're vegan. The best gluten-free/plant based slice of cake in London! Not too sweet like a lot of vegan/gluten free cakes out there... I visited last weekend and had the strawberry and buttercream cake. It was divine! Definitely worth a trip to Greenwich for Ruby's. The staff in the shop are really knowledgeable on all the items, too. Which is always a great touch. Will be returning this weekend for my fix :)

Amazing carrot cake and always great service from the people that work there. Try and get in at least once a week when work allows and never disappointed!

After hearing about it from a friend, I was determined to try their baked goods. However, I’ve been left disappointed. I got the carrot cake and the flavours were there, but it was very gummy/rubbery. Definitely not like what a cake should be.

If you are gluten-free and in need of a treat this place is amazing. You can enjoy it in their small Cafe or get a to-go box. There was a discount for six items to go. The strawberry cake and doughnuts were probably my favorites, but everything was excellent.

Absolutely loved everything! The service was incredible, the space is absolutely gorgeous (and clean too) and the cupcakes were to die for. Not too sweet, not too sickly, just perfect perfect perfect. We decided to come by today as we had order a birthday cake for next week and wanted to try it out, and I’m so glad we did 😍

A little find while browsing through Greenwich and its market. Enjoyed a quiche and salad lunch with cake and a hot drink. So much so that we returned for similar the next time we were passing. However, that exhausted their choice of savoury; but not of cake. Helpful friendly service.

Situated down one of the entrances to Greenwich Market is Ruby's. A tea or coffee shop for vegans. Selling cakes pastries,sausage rolls (no animal products). It was very popular, we popped in for a tea and cake with no milk or gluten in sight. Both were very nice with none of the usual dry cardboard taste you get sometimes with glutenfree products. But not cheap 2 pots of tea plus 2 cupcakes £15 . Although the cupcakes did have small doughnuts on top. Nice treat

I was here this afternoon to watch my daughter singing with her school choir. After surgery last week, I needed somewhere to sit so popped in to buy a drink so I could use their outside seating. When I explained they said I didn’t have to buy a drink and I could sit outside with their permission. i did buy a drink - which was delicious- but I was very grateful for their kindness today. We have come here several time since they opened in Tunbridge Wells and have had their quiche and salad options (delicious), their sausage rolls (also delicious) and we've tried pretty much all their cakes. Really lovely staff and really flavoursome lunches and decadent cakes. We got married a few weeks ago and they made our wedding cake and Ruby was so helpful in making sure everything went smoothly for us - we can't recommend this place enough!

I simply love Ruby’s. Every single thing they sell and I’ve tried left me speechless. The staff is always so kind. I love coming back here for the good vibes and sweet treats. Even my boyfriend who is not vegan said that these are one of the best cupcakes he’s ever had. And the tomato and mozzarella roll… ❤️❤️❤️

i have tried the raspberry cheesecake cookie, carrot cake, biscoff milkshake & another smoothie. they taste amazingg. ive been vegan 4 years, ruby’s is the best place i’ve found for vegan deserts. the staff are so kind & friendly, amazing location, the best food & drink.. and it’s pink :D absolutely love everything about ruby’s!! :)

Ruby’s baked a fantastic cake for my 40th Birthday. It was delicious and just what I wanted - everyone who had some really enjoyed it. One of my friends was really surprised to hear it was vegan too, you wouldn’t know! I can’t fault the service either; from my initial enquiry right through to picking up the cake, they couldn’t have been more helpful, answering any queries I had and helping me get the cake I wanted. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ruby’s in the future. Thank you so much! Really want to try out the cupcakes next, which look amazing :)

Excellent pastries and milkshakes, and entirely vegan! It’s really hard doing vegan pastries right. So when I was drawn to the lemon elderflower raspberry cake, I was alarmed when I was told that it was gluten free as well. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when the cake was perfectly moist and had a great crumb- and was also most flavorful to boot! We also ordered the biscoff and strawberry and cream milkshakes, both of which were excellent and were also not too sweet. Overall, my only wish is that I had ordered more things to try, but there’s always a next time!

Tried the raspberry cheesecake cookie and it was DELICIOUS! Perfect texture, perfect taste and perfect combination of flavours. You won’t even tell it’s plant based! Little lovely place in the heart of Greenwich market, it will be my new favourite whenever I’ll be back in the area!

Found this eatery on our first visit to Tunbridge Wells. From the outside looks like a typical cafe but it is a vegan cafe and cake shop. I am not vegan but was surprised at the quality of the food. I had rainbow quiche with potato salad and kale and tahine salad. Delicious. Would be good if they could open more cafes.

Went to the store in tunbridge wells, gorgeous cake very rich with flavour, and plant based!! Service was very fast, servers were polite and cheery, would highly recommend.

I went there with my family and enjoyed the delicious salad , burger and rolls . Hot chocolate and Banana salted caramel shake was outstanding as well.

I am not vegan, but I’m allergic and intolerant to milk which made switch from dairy products to vegan here in London and I’ve always heard “ah it’s vegan it doesn’t taste the same” I am a food lover and guarantee you that this one’s really don’t taste the same, they taste much better than many cupcakes oversold in London. It’s really worth trying!

We looked up bakeries in Tunbridge Wells before venturing out this day. Came across Ruby's of London. The photos suggested it might be quite decadent, and that's what we're after. Although there was a Red Velvet cake in the window with others, I couldn't have that because it was to be sold whole and wouldn't be sliced. I settled for a cupcake of the same flavour, a bit disappointed. We didnt realise this shop was of the vegan variety and didn't notice that info online either. Not until we were asked what milk we wanted in coffees. As we felt committed by now, we paid 15.50£ and sat down to wait for the young waiter to bring our purchase. Both cake and coffees were underwhelming with the only flavour of the cake being the very sugary icing. I opted for a hazelnut shot in my iced coffee. I didn't taste the hazelnut nor was the coffee cold. The place was tidy and clean. But it didn't live up to the photos posted online, especially with the non existence of food variety.

Great selection of dairy free/vegan items, even though I'm personally not vegetarian or vegan, one thing that matters is dairy free options (better for my gut and general satisfaction nowadays) 😋😋😋😋😋

Mims was so welcoming and friendly. The desserts were delicious, especially the Nutella cookie! And the music playlist was A* :)

Horrible management, older lady just shouts loudly in the store without no reason promoting her sandwiches and salads she can't use the till to charge you , and before they charge you they WILL ask you 4 times what was your order. of course don't you ever order ice cream , the scoop is so small you can't even see it in the cup. overall not a good experience. will never go back , so many better choices around go to CROSSTOWN better service better taste and quality.

Visited the new Tunbridge Wells store, so nice to have a fully Vegan store here! Staff were friendly, the space is very light and spacious. Excited to visit again soon and try more of the amazing food available. The quality of the food was fantastic.

Best vegan cakes in London.. be sure to be organised as they need a few days notice to create what are the most perfect vegan and gluten free cakes... every celebration that requires a cakevand i get online and ordering.....plus over the last 7 years I've been using them they are consistent in their quality... 10 stars .

Beautiful spot; had been wanting to try their treats for awhile. The rocky road cookies looked good to me, so gave them a try, but sadly not to my taste. I understand they are vegan, so YMMV, but personally I felt they tasted a bit chemically and not at all chocolatey.
