Unfortunately my veggie spring roll had an odd taste to it, and my chips weren’t very good- a bit sad. Let’s just say the next day I didn’t feel too well in the morning for a few hours

I’d lived in Hoole for 17 years and not tried Ruby’s before. So I thought why not I’ll give it a try. I wasn’t disappointed, it was very nice as good as any other decent Chinese in Chester. I will be returning on the odd occasion I’m feeling in the mood for a Chinese takeaway.

A very warm welcome received, have recently found this little gem where prices are amazingly reasonable and the food is fantastic! Would highly recommend especially the prawn toast!

Wow i have not written a review for many years but after spending £56 on a takeaway Chinese food from Ruby Chinese I'm disgusted. I have eaten Chinese takeaway up and down the breadth of the uk and reviewed many. I can't believe people in Chester will actually spend money on the poor quality food we have just received and really can not be the norm. Rubys Special Curry - full of salt and inedible to all but one who spent years in the forces and can eat anything but damn disgusting. Young chow fried rice, cooked in dirty oil (That’s why the rice is brown and so greasy) ingredients of very poor quality and no shrimp, I’ve never seen chopped Gristly bacon as an ingredient before and again massively over salted. Chicken Balls - considerably over battered and fried to a hard crisp, full of grease and a very small amount of chicken inside. Even after removing the batter the chicken is tasteless (what there is of it that is). Prawn on toast - a very thin layer of prawn, the toast over cooked and greasy. Only positive was the chips were nice!! Can’t really get that wrong can you though. I can not believe as a business you survive serving this poor quality of food. People have to save for take away now a days and sadly to give this poor quality of food for peoples hard earn cash is disgusting.

Fantastic meal, would recommend the prawn toast and back bean chow mein. Chips are the best. And prices are amazing for the amount you get. My new regular takeaway spot. Really lovely family.

Where to begin. Everything just dripping in oil, Noddles had more oil than noodles, soggy oily veg spring rolls . They don't know how to do salt and pepper dishes just terrible. Really unhappy with order as I remember when I was younger this was a good Chinese's it's far from that now. Worst Chinese's I've ever had let alone in Chester

I was visiting a friend in Littleton and said I'd pick up a Chinese takeaway on the way to her. As I live in Edinburgh I had no idea where to go so looked up lots of reviews and decided on Ruby Fish and Chip Shop. Had a lovely chat with the owners son whilst I waited for my food. Then had a fabulous meal with my friend. The portions are huge, we couldn't eat it all and the food is very tasty. My friend will definitely be using you again.

Just discovered this takeaway! Love the spring rolls that are freshly cooked on site. It is difficult to find veggie options in Chester but Ruby's has plently of tasty options. Very friendly service and good value for money.

Don't be mislead by the name, although they do fish and chips, this is a first class Chinese takeaway. Ran by the lovely Ruby, her husband and beautiful daughter Denise, this family run business has been here for 35 years. The food is exceptional, and skilfully cooked or handmade by the owners. A warm welcome is guaranteed and you can ask which is the best dishes they recommend. The portions are very generous as is the pricing very fair. Not your average Chinese takeaway, more like you won't forget this place!!

Very good chicken fried rice soy sauce friendly

Absolutely fantastic Chinese the spring rolls are the best I've ever eaten!! I ordered sweet and sour chicken and it's delicious and full of flavour and a chicken in a black bean sauce and it's fresh and full of flavour. The owners are a really lovely welcoming and friendly family I've traveled up from London to stay and they really made me feel welcome and took time to conversation with me Thank you! 😊

Absolutely adorable little take away. We just grabbed a quick portion of chips each, but they were super and the lady who served was brilliant. Thank you soo much for being lovely.

We came here a lot when we used to live in Hoole. It’s my go to place for Chinese food. Tonight we went back again after haven’t been here for a while. We got rice crackers, Peking Square Ribs, Sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, hot&sour soup and beef chowmein. Food tasted lovely as always ! Portion is always huge. Price is cheap compared to what we got. These ribs are massive ! They do take card payment. Staffs are very lovely and friendly. The owner, the Chinese lady always remind me of my grandma. She smiles all the time and make me feel welcomed everytime I visit.

Been going to the ruby for 25 years love the family always remembers me when i go now my grown up kids go as well nowhere better

I am ashamed to say I have never fancied a takeaway from here. Last month and again tonight we had a takeaway. Little to no grease. Hot and soup soup is amazing (comparable to any I have had in Asia) delicious meaty salt and pepper ribs. Highly recommend.... Gutted I have said there isn't a decent takeaway for Chinese and here was on in Hoole where I live! Try it.

Best Chinese food in Chester by far. Unlike other takeaways and restaurants there is next to no grease and no cheap ingredients used. If you want a authentic Chinese meal get yourself to Rubys. I recommend the Salt and Pepper King Prawns. Thank me later ; )

Ordered from here last week, I ordered the chicken chow mein, salt and pepper chicken and the ribs. The food was absolutely amazing and staff are very friendly. I love how it is a family run business using old authentic recipes. Wouldn’t look to order Chinese food elsewhere :)

Ordered Chinese takeaway from here for the first time this weekend. The portions were larger than other Chinese takeaways which was a nice surprise. We were told half an hour for delivery on the phone but this turned out to be more like an hour, and some of the food could have had a bit more flavour (chicken chow mein) but it seemed like good quality food. Will order again from Ruby's

Hands down the best Chinese takeaway in Chester. We've lived in Chester for 20 years and this is the best we've had. The only downside is that we only found it this year... Top tip - try the sticky beef!

Ruby's is our favourite Chinese takeaway in Chester. Always friendly, the owners make great food. The only downside is that it can sometimes take a little while to get ready even when you've ordered on the telephone.

Great chips but a little bit of a let down having no muffins

This place does nice fish and chips. Five minute wait, but it's worth it. It is just a fish and chips shop, so I give this "restaurant" a rating of fish and chips out of fish and chips.

Cuando fui allí, había unas cuantas personas esperando. Una mujer vino y pedimos unas patatas fritas - ella estaba esperando casi 15 minutos por una bolsa.mi pareja y yo esperamos otros 40 minutos! Parece que lo preparan todo fresco, que era una buena cosa pensé ... sin embargo, me decepcionó mucho!Pedí pollo dulce y amarga y mi compañero pedí un plato de chili. Tengo que decir que el dulce y amargo era muy agradable con el arroz frito. El chili pollo era pobre, y yo estaba molesto que me había esperado mucho tiempo.no volvería otra vez - pena, ya que está justo al final de la carretera de mí. siento mal diciendo esto como la señora era tan agradable.
