New address in Queen Street! (same telephone number) Slightly improved premises with a little more seating than in Milton Road. We enjoyed a good selection of starters - all very tasty. The dosas were a little under done but ok. The service was friendly but as the place was almost full they were struggling to keep up. Despite this the quality of the food makes it wort visiting. Don't expect table cloths and napkins etc. Inexpensive so good value. Not the sort of "standard" Indian / Bangladeshi restaurant food. Great for vegetarians.

I left Gravesend nearly three years ago and this is one of two places that I travel back to Gravesend to eat in. If you are looking for great Indian food and friendly service, then it should be on your list of places to try. Always made welcome when we visit and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere... I don't like to feel that they are already writing the bill, two seconds after they take the order. As long as the quality of the food does not change, I will always look to come back.

What to say… the place looks battered from top to bottom, the chairs are a wreck and tables have a distinct sticky texture to them. Hardly inviting. So what about the food then? It’s good, tasty, I feel there is a serious hygiene issue with the place. If they fixed this it might be a place I’d return to. I had the dosa on this visit, the menu has a lot of everything, so South Indian with birth Indian as well. Perhaps they just get the panjabi food from next door !!

I will not go there ever again food is serve on plastic plates which had a corner broken .

I hadn't visited RT Dosa since they moved premises from Northfleet and was pleased that te quality of the food had been maintained. The restaurant is small and fairly basic but the service is good and very friendly. It is popular with families with young children. The food is South Indian / Sri Lankan and consequently serves a good selection of tasty vegetarian food with the addition of meat dishes. I particularly like their vadai and dosas. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion. I would recommend booking on a Friday or Saturday evening. It is possible to have a limited selection of beer etc. Note that they only take cash.

It would be a hard task to find better dosa anywhere else in the area, and the quality reminds me of the stuff I used to have in Singapore. I would definitely recommend visiting to try out their menu. They also still do takeaway during lockdown, so support local business and do yourself a favour!

RT Dosa is our favourite restaurant in the world. A hidden gem. The food is absolutely incredible. We are regular customers and have never had a single complaint. The prices are very reasonable for the high standard of food you receive. I personally cannot eat from any other Indian restaurant in the local area anymore, because it just doesn’t compare to the flavour explosion from Dosa. Everything is perfectly seasoned, tastes fresh, and is just out of this world. The chicken 65 is a real highlight. The dosas are perfect. Crispy on the outside with flavourful fillings on the inside. My usual curry order is the lamb madras. It has a real kick of spice, and the meat just falls apart in your mouth. Don’t go there expecting your usual local curry house food. This is a real, authentic South Indian taste experience.

Possibly the best south Indian cuisine I've had outside of Asia. The menu has an enormous variety of options not found on your average British Indian menu, and every item we ordered was an absolute delight. Don't listen to the reviewers that say it wasn't what they expected, these unimaginative fools wouldn't understand real Indian cuisine if it came and took a bite out of them. But if you want something truly authentic and a fresh culinary revalation, that stands out from the dull hegemony that the endless north Indian restaurants, ubiquitous across the land, limply proffer in their tired claws, then do your taste buds a favour and come to this truly unique (in this country anyway) dining experience before it closes forever; a very real and sad possibility given the paucity of imagination of the average Kentish customer

Doesn’t look anything special but the food we had was very tasty. Not your typical northern Indian food, this is southern and Sri-Lanken food. A bit more delicate and fragrant. They also do Dosas which seemed popular with the locals, so we tried them but wasn’t to our taste. But the other food was very tasty and a bit different and very affordable. Decor is basic but the food makes up for it, a hidden gem in my opinion.

Anyone who loves Indian Food should head to this little place. Everything on the menu is cooked fresh (you may to wait a little sometimes) and with care. The spices used are refreshing. The flavours supreme. Mention to the staff if you have allergies or follow a certain diet and they will cater for you changing dishes where possible. A brilliant service by very friendly people. I am vegan and wheat intolerant and I find that I have a huge number of dishes to choose from. I have been here many times. It is my "go to" place to eat even though it's far from local to me. A return visit after more than 1 year - the food remains excellent. Extensive selection of Southern Indian dishes - great choice for vegetarians. I particularly enjoyed the Lamb Ulathiyathu as well as a Masala Dosa. The food wash freshly prepared and very tasty. The service was better than my previous visit but I arrived just before it got busy. It made a pleasant change to be offered a good choice of non-alcoholic drinks.Family friendly. The restaurant was formerly a pub and its layout not the greatest - a bit dark. Whilst the paint seemed fresh it interior is nothing special but comfortable enough. A very different experience to a more typical Northern Indian restaurant - don't expect papadoms and copius quantities of lager.

Not the usual flock wallpaper and sitar music. Most customers were Indian I think reflecting the food. As well as meat a lot of vegetarian food as you would get in India. We sat on a table with a young Indian couple and their son. They helped us identify what the different dishes were. Their son kept us entertained. There is a large choice of dishes we had never heard of before. It is not a posh place a little rough and ready but friendly and the food we had was lovely and very good value. Especially to us northerners. It is a good family restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. I cannot understand some of the negative reviews. I discovered this place completely by accident. Staying at hotel within a minutes walk, I had seen another tandoori place a little further down the road earlier in the week. Thought id visit. Noticed this place in the drive past and was quite busy considering its a Wednesday night. The place I was going to was empty. Car turned around, parked back at the hotel and walked to RT Dosa. Its relatively basic in terms of decor. However, in years of eating.out, I've learned to look past this.Got seated and got a menu. The first thing that hits you from reading the menu is that this is definitely not your average run of the mill indian and definitely something far more traditional. The menu has a lot of vegetarian options and a lot of very traditional indian cuisine. For a starter, I chose Chicken Devil. Clearly very aptly named, its a very hot starter but I do like hot food and it was excellent. For a main, I chose Chicken Bhuna, mushroom rice and a green chilli parotta. The bhuna was touted as medium hot, although to me was only medium but was a nice contrast to the starter. Bulked out a bit with potato but again, made it interesting and definitely more traditional. The parotta was excellent. Light and with just the right amount of green chilli. In light of other points, the service wasn't the quickest, but I was in no rush and they were clearly busy. The waitress was very polite and helpful and apologetic for any wait and in all.honesty, the food was worth the wait. Couple of.pints of Cobra to go wth it all (£3.99 a pint) and I was done. Bill paid, I waddled off to the hotel.If.you ae looking for a polished service, in luxury surroundings and mediocre same old same old curry then RT Dosa is not for you. If you are willing to wait a little and look past the basic decor, then you will enjoy some real authentic Indian cuisine, backed up by the fact a lot of the local indian population were eating here, which is always a very good sign.Prices are very very good. My entire meal costing £26. Absolutely worth a look this place. I think ill be back before I leave.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Southern Indian menu made a refreshing change from the more common Northern Indian /Punjabi dishes served in so many restaurants in the area. The Food wash freshly prepared and well presented. Furthermore, it offered good value for money. I also found the service to be friendly are reasonably efficient. However, I feel that the layout is hampered by the building having previously been a pub which has only been superficially modified with the result that the normal ambience found in a restaurant is missing. While there was alcohol on sale it was not found in the menu. There was a choice of wine but it seemed a bit haphazard. I can see why guests expecting a curry with lots of beer might be disappointed - it's just not that sort of restaurant. Soft drinks were generally served in cans. I'm certainly hoping to revisit soon as I enjoyed the food so much but know not to expect a "dining" experience.

I have already found my favourite 'authentic Indian restaurant' (chattorey) but this is a good substitute if (like in our case) it is shut.I won't compare the two exactly as that would be like comparing a pie and mash shop with a chip shop as they both do traditional Indian food but with dishes from different regions. As a party of 5, we tried this place due to the Chattorey being hired for a function. Not wanting to slip back into eating the traditional 'Engladeshi' curry house curry, I found this eatery. It has a big menu which includes Dosa's. These are large pancake type dishes served with various fillings and sauces. The two of us that had them were very pleased. In fact all the food went down really well and all of us were very happy with the food. Nice flavours, good heat in the spicy dishes and overall very good. There was only one waitress, which was ok because the place wasn't that busy. But she was very good and a credit. Why not 5 stars? Well there were a couple of things, not big, but enough when clumped together to keep it at 4.The restaurant was an old pub, maybe that is the reason that the place lacks a nicer ambience. I'm not sure but it's not quite there. The beer wasn't very cold and those of us that were drinking Kingfisher (my ususal) remarked that it didn't taste like kingfisher, well, like any Kingfisher we had had before. We checked the bottle to seen if it was an export version or for something different but it wasn't. And it was straight out of a bottle so it was strange. The others drinking different beers had no problems. It may have been because the kingfisher wasn't that cold and our brains were used to cold ones and maybe that was the difference.Soft drinks were straight from a bottle. I ordered a lemonade which again wasn't very cold and half flat. The wait was a little long for the food but not excessive. I can see how it could be a problem for some people but we just had a good chat and I'm sure no one else thought anything of it.To sum up- RT Dosa serves up some mighty fine 'traditional' Indian food. Great flavours and a vast menu. I ordered things that I had never heard of before and can't fault the food that I had. Good flavour infusions.Let down a little by the ambience, drinks and wait.5 stars for the food overall 4 stars because eating out needs to be marked as an overall experience. On the night it was a substitute for the Chattorey not being open and it was worthy of this. Would it be my first choice? Probably not at the moment.Would I visit again even if the Chattorey was open? Most definitely YES! Well done RT Dosa. Another great find.ThanksMatt

This place is probably the reopened Curry and Dosa restaurant used to be in Gravesend city centre. The parking situation is a bit better as the parking opposite the road is decent except busy working hours. The menu is very extensive and the prices are really affordable. The food is very well presented, although the interior could do with a facelift, as it is very dimly lit. An ideal place for south Indian cuisine as they serve all the essential south Indian dishes one can find in a south Indian restaurant in India, and perhaps a bit more. I ordered a fish thali which was a massive portion, and I took the food away to eat at home, and it took three days to finish. The food is delicious, but there could be more variety as there were three types of Dahl which could be changed to one and introduce more types of vegetable sabzi. With an extensive range of desserts, this place has the potential for the Indian and non-Indians to enjoy a quality experience of South Indian cuisine.

We go here a lot. The food is incredible! The waiting time can be a bit on the long side but no more than any other Indian restaurant. Plus you can actually hear them cooking it which I find reassuring! The lady that takes the orders is super efficient and on the nights she isn't there the guys seem to struggle. All in all, a quirky, fun place with great food!

My husband and I visited RT Dosa tonight. We live around the corner, and always go past, but have been wary to try it as it's always empty in there, but after a recommendation from a friend, we thought we'd give it a go. Oh my word! It was probably the best Indian food I've ever eaten. The dosas were HUGE, everything we had was fresh and tasty, and by the looks of it, there was absolutely no food colouring. Everything was perfect and full of flavour. My favourite part of the meal was our starter, Chicken 65, absolutely gorgeous! The best chicken I've ever tasted. We ordered a dosa each, chicken 65 starter between us, a paulo rice each, I had the lamb madras, and hubby had the chicken bhuna. I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a great standard of Indian food. The price was good too just under £41, that included all the food, two Cokes and a fresh melon juice that the waitress made. The only complaint I have is that the drinks were warm, hubby had ordered a beer, and we had to politely send it back because he wasn't enjoying it. The waitress was apologetic, and she said she knew that it was warm, but all the drinks were as the fridges had been turned off until they opened. She didn't charge us for the beer, and replaced it with the juice with lots of ice for half the price than usual. I'm still giving them a full rating, despite the drinks, because the quality of food is absolutely outstanding. My new favourite restaurant!

We experienced very horrible service, waited 45 mins for food to arrive after Starters and upon questioning we were told that we are busy.. That was so unprofessional. Looks like people managing restaurant are new and have absolutely no idea of customer satisfaction. Most amazing thing is- in that 45 mins 4-5 delivery orders were prepared and delivered with taking no notice of us waiting soo long..!! They dont have drinks menu and dont know which drink they have available. Do not visit if you want to enjoy your evening after a long days work.

However good the food be,if the service is not good it kills the fun.A very sluggish service.after ordering the starters no one came to check until asked.Would do better if more people are employed rather than one person having to take care of the whole thing.

I walked in expecting a standard Indian and although not familiar with a lot of the dishes on the menu was keen to try something different. The food was fantastic and would love to return again to try one of the wraps/pancakes. There doesn't seem much seating with large tables mainly available and it was quite quiet for a Saturday night but we had great service and excellent food.

Excellent, authentic south & north Indian food albeit a bit over spiced! Just one citisism is that they could do well to have a separate alcoholic drinks price list. Wanted a drink but didn't know what they had. Overall very impressed. Nice decor, good relaxing atmosphere, not too busy & tasty food. Definitely would go again!

If you are like me who loves authentic indian food and when visit a restaurant wants the food to taste top quality with the taste which is difficult to achieve at home then you would love Rtdosa. The food is excellent, menu choice is superb and service is fast. I went there with my husband and daughter. We ordered dosa, chilli fish, paneer manchurian and non veg thali. The server was professional and I did not have to ask her to bring my daughters meal first. She did on her own so I was pleased. The place look nice too. Will definitely visit again.

We have been looking for another Dosa restaurant since the excellent Currys and Dosa shut and think this may have the potential to be very good. We had paneer 65 and chilli paneer to start, and found that by mixing the two together we had a very tasty dish. The chicken Ulathiyathu was lovely and the curd rice was different and provided little bursts of flavour on the tongue. The dosa was excellent, and my husband said the mango lassi was to die for! The waitress was friendly and efficient , and the place nicely decorated. I think as it is a new restaurant it would have been nice to have had some social interaction with management - it would have made the atmosphere more welcoming. The food was almost but not quite there ,but will definately visit again to expand our food experience and will watch and see if expectations are fulfilled with interest - all in all well worth a visit.

If you've missed dosa's in Gravesend this is a wonderful find. Been twice now , veg family loved the paneer fried rice and the dosas esp the onion rava masala crunchy ! Be aware the dosas have 2 types of potatoes and if you order with what might be masala potatoes it is quite hot so may want to clarify which pots in which . Lovely lassi's nice décor and the charming waitress (ex C&D) . Check it out.

Took my mother here for her 90th birthday as she was born in the front upstairs room in 1925 when it was the family's pub, the Queen's Head.We had previously visited for dosas, after the sad demise of Currys and Dosa in Wrotham Road, and were not disappointed. This time we all chose the South Indian meat thali, and it was delicious. Seven very different dishes with rice and chapatis, all in some way unusual. The shredded white cabbage (?) with coconut was wonderful, the dall exceptionally good and the flavours all multi-layered. There was even a tiny dish of halva to finish. The waitress is charming.Next time the North Indian!

Recently opened restaurant. Went on a Sunday evening. Very quiet as expected for early Sunday pm. Well lit and tasteful decor. Spacious interior. Pleasant staff. Food was good quality; authentic taste. Mango lassi was yummy. Ordered chicken 65, pepper lamb, idli and medu vada for starters. Freshly produced except the medu vada which seemed microwaved. For the mains, ordered a thali with malabar prawns; lamb special, chicken madras with a selection of South Indian vegetables, yogurt, pickle, chapati and rice and desert. All excellent. Also ordered paper roast Dosas....simply to die for! The pistachio kulfi topped off the meal. Only minor downside was that the service was a tad slow. But well worth the wait for the food, which was delicious; and the lady serving us was very polite. Shall definitely go back....plenty of dishes to try. Well done RT dosa. I am sure you will be a big hit in the near future.

I've given this place three attempts, as it's very local to me, each occasion ordering a different main. In all honesty, you might as well walk past, go to tesco and co-op and get yourself a microwave curry. You will enjoy it more. Their food has no taste, the way they present it is horrible. My final attempt was a chicken tikka balti, was just five poor pieces of chicken, and the runniest of sauces I would only compare to something I'd rather not put on here. It must obviously do quite well, but I genuinely don't understand how. A curry isn't a cheap meal, spend your money elsewhere

Unfortunately for them the lights went off in the back room prior to a birthday party coming in, which created mayhem. The food was great though. Difficult to judge. Probably deserve a second visit.
