Had a good night. Family party. Was supposed to have a private room but due to technical difficulties this wasn't possible in the end but still enjoyed ourselves.

Why oh why was there a conflict of interest this afternoon? The Moonshiners and Premier league Football all on at the same time? The volume of the music was DEAFENING...pardon? DEAFENING!!!! Please priotorise your clients needs... keep them separate for goodness sake... Music at a different o'clock to the football... common sense surely.... Staff are all just the best btw x

This pub needs to confirm its identity. Why would you show Sky Sports and then book a band (which was painfully deafening) starting halfway through the League Cup Final?? Totally spoilt the afternoon and the band could have been on much later!

Posting this on behalf of friends who dont do reviews. They had the Christmas menu at The Oak and inform that the salmon and Christmas dinner were very good, cooked well and service was good. Dinning room/conservatory needs some TLC so it is a more pleasant room to dine in, soft music and some nice lamps/pictures would give it a warmer amd more welcoming atmosphere. If The Oak can get people in to dine then it stands more of a chance of staying open and succeeding as a pub, as well as a restaurant.

We were travelling north and stopped at a caravan and motorhome club site about 3/4 mile from the Royal Oak Tibshelf. The Royal Oak has had a very obvious refurbishment and we received a very lovely welcome from the new owner. Good menu with plenty of choice, service was great and food plentiful. I had the sea bass tonight and it was really good, cooked to perfection. Red wine (I know it should be white!) was excellent. Nothing to fault about meal and service and would definitely come back to this pub/restaurant. Footpath all the way to and from the campsite!

From entering with a group of 13 - 5 of which where children below the age of 7 years - before 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. In which we where the largest party in the pub at 7.00pm on a Saturday. The children where playing (as 7 year olds do) in the extensive outdoors area as well as in the indoors - (grab machine and pool table). There was complaints made about our children which we immediately dealt with however the landlord abruptly and rudely approached one of our party about. Which we did not appreciate the passive aggressive type of tone. (Quite down or you’ll be kicked out etc) On leaving the said landlord then approached us with again a passive aggressive tone as a party member defused the situation. Would highly avoid with children

This place is newly opened. Fully refurbished and an enthusiastic patron. Very welcoming and great at creating a good atmosphere and events. I want to go back. It is early days and probably teething problems but the night we went we waited a long time for the food, and not so busy. There were about 20 of us and most meals were good but some were not e.g. the pasta options. I'm posting a review because I want this place to be the success it deserves. Food and service are the heart of a place.

Came last night with husband and friends. All our food was beautifully presented and more importantly tasted excellent. The restaurant/ conservatory area is not too big so you can actually have a conversation over your meal as it’s not too noisy. Really impressed it’s a welcome change in comparison to some of the other local eateries, will definitely be back.

Thought we would try this local pub which had recently Been done up. ...very disappointing. Booked few days ago, asked to be seated in conservatory/ quite area, so was annoyed to be showed to a table in bar area. The prices arent 'bar menu' prices so don't expect to sit in the bar. We did get moved into the conservatory tho, so was happy about that. Staff came to take orders and thought we had asked for Stilton steak!!??...was sirloin steak.... Three steak meals ordered and asked For them all to be cooked well done...all came very bloody. Sent my back came back the same.. Chips( if you can call them chips) bland and undercooked. No better than it was 20 years ago and a lot more expensive, Just give it a miss if you like a good quality meal.....stick with Carnarvon arms or hard wick inn. Only gave it three stars because we got moved into restaurant area.

Dined here last night after walking from Days Inn on the recommendation of the publican at The New Inn who wasn't doing meals as he had the football on. On entering the locals were very friendly (as was the black dog). Our meals were well presented and had fantastic flavours. Desserts divine. We all enjoyed our food and nothing was left on the plate. The 3 girls serving us were friendly and gorgeous, especially the new young one who wants to come to Australia - good choice!! The locals are very lucky to have this great place to dine. Thank you for a great meal.

The decor is modern and the staff are all helpful and friendly. The only complaint that I have is that our Thai red curry was very bland and quite tasteless. Could maybe do with adding some red chilli to it. A couple of our friends ordered steak medium rare and it came well done.

Came first night of opening was amazing, loved the staff the atmosphere and the bar manager was so professional but fun. Came back Saturday 26th was such a disappointing atmosphere bar manager weren't in why?. Staff ignored us for a while even tho it wasn't busy. So our 4 friends met us for drinks and wanted to leave so we did. Came back today for lunch. Disaster, service was dull, no head of house with no welcome, waited ages then food was cold, vegetables were soggy so wasn't impressed at all, so will not return. Open night was brilliant but after so disappointing. Such a shame

My friend and I visited the Royal Oak, very recently reopened and renamed The Twisted Oak. The staff were lovely and welcoming, the decor is obviously new and absolutely amazing, there is something to look at in every direction. The food was really good, our only moan is that both our burgers were served on really long and narrow wooden platters, they twist and spin when you try to cut anything and everything on them goes all over the table. Hence I have only rated it as a 4 not 5. Next time I would ask for my food on a proper plate. Good luck to the new owners, we will certainly visit again very soon.

We had Sunday lunch at the Crown again today, and it was great as usual. There is a choice of one, two or three course at very reasonable prices. The selection and quality is first class. Today we had the turkey and the steak pie, both were excellent. You can also select from the standard menu, but we cannot recommend the Sunday lunch enough, for quality and value. The landlady and landlord are very friendly, real ale is served as well as draught lagers, ciders and John Smiths etc. They also run the pub next door, mainly a drinks establishment and more recently the pub at the top of the village which also serves food. Well worth a visit.

Called in at The Royal Oak two weeks ago, after we had been ignored when we went to the Shoulder to try Sunday lunch there. Never seen the pub before, but they fitted us in after only waiting about ten minutes, which we spent getting a drink from the bar. This Sunday having finished shopping in Chesterfield about 1pm, rang the Royal Oak, and they said they could fit us in, in about half an hour. Again the meal was very good, plenty of meat as well as veg, and the value for money is amazing. I would highly recommend for Sunday lunch. They tell me they are taking over the pub next door shortly to turn in to an eating establishment, should be a great success.
