Hilcote Country Club Restaurant in Bolsover

Well worth a visit…excellent customer service…great value for money…food was 10 out 10 and an added bonus it's dog friendly 🐾

Food was great. Plenty of it and well presented. Service was also really good. Would recommend hilcote country club and I've already rebooked to visit again.

booked the hilcote for a birthday party, from start to finish the staff were so nice and helpful! danny the manager has good communication throughout, and always there to help. pauly the chef came to the rescue, when the birthday cake took a tumble. the lady (sorry didn’t catch her name) was really helpful with setting up, and showing me around! and letting everyone go in to set up whenever. when i had a last minute cancellation from my dj, danny was quick on the phone to their resident dj as a back up! the bar staff were all so lovely and very patient, and lots of options at the bar thank you guys and would defintely recommend for anyone considering booking the hilcote for parties xx

We stayed over in the Aire (x 2), had access to facilities of the club house for most of the night until closing time around midnight. There are 2 pitches for overnighting with EHU’s away from the main building but adjacent to a really old and large couple of Oak tree which gave a good shade and the view to the east was spectacular as the Sunset. We didn’t eat but did a couple of drinks on their large and well laidout patio area. Only a short drive from the M1 passing by a really large shopping and Industrial complex so you can stock up with stuff and have coffee & such before arriving ! Very pleasant and helpful staff and they also have a Bistro but not as aware of its opening times…, its a good halfway stop over for us travelling up from the south coast near Southampton

Attended a wedding reception here, it's small but nice. Beer was reasonably priced but didn't eat any food so can't comment on that.

Lovely bright beamed building and surrounding area. Absolutely beautiful cream tea well worth the money. Home baked Scones served warm honestly THE BEST CREAM TEA ever. served by a lovely lady Amanda who honestly couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you for the lovely warm welcome and making the day special. We shall return

First time visit to Hilcote Country Club today 7th Feb 24 @ 1pm for afternoon cream tea. I have to honestly say what terrific value SIMPLY THE BEST afternoon tea i and my wife have had. Lots of it and home made scones full size, cheese and pickle, roast beef and salad, ham and tomato, and egg mayonnaise sandwiches along with sausage roll salad and coleslaw. Fantastic choice of cakes highly delighted with the warm welcome from Amanda and for taking care of us. Stunning place light and airy with lovely beamed ceiling. I will definitely return and would definitely recommend you’ll not be disappointed

Had a really good time at a Christmas meal here- great price for excellent food. Will definitely be going back for the regular food with partner for a treat

This venue was very noisy. Lots of surfaces that echo sound therefore conversation for our party was limited. There was also music playing which added to the hubbub. Food was good and hot and the attention from our host was unquestionable.

We go here to an auction that sells a whole array of different items. It's got a great atmosphere.

10 of my family went December 1st for xmas dinner and disco The service wasnot good there must have been around 70 people for 1 sitting which is fine but we ordered all food before we went so they had a idea what food on which table But my sister had turkey dinner i had pork loin but she had nearly eaten hers before i had got mine surely you would serve table to table not all turkey dinners first and so it went on They hadnot got enough staff on for that The xmas pudding wasnot great either it was chewy on the edges When the coffee was served no cream but tea was served with milk so had to wait for cream coffee was lukewarm when it arrived but good points was the disco

I had the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had, the food was beautifully fresh, finder sandwiches with a good selection of fillings and salad garnish, sausage rolls, beautiful little fresh cakes then the most amazing warm scones with jam and clotted cream with as much tea as we could drink. The staff couldn’t do enough for us - we’ll definitely be back for me - thank you

Horrible, horrible food. Steak that you could pick up at one end and it didn’t bend. Chips so overcooked and greasy they were like little bags of pus. Salad that appeared to have been scraped off the floor and thrown at a plate. Wait staff were fine, but the duty manager was argumentative, then aggressive, then abusive. I would rather cut my own foot off and eat that than go here again.

What a lovely place, we went today to celebrate my mums 80th birthday and wasn’t disappointed the food was lovely! Not many in so this affected the atmosphere score but still great

Our friends have there birthday party there every year. They book bands and artists for the whole wknd. Brilliant and the Guinness was spot on too

Enjoyed the best afternoon tea here that I have ever had! The quality of the food and the presentation was superb. Great choice of fillings in the sandwiches, tasty cakes, sausage rolls, salad garnish and not forgetting the scones with jam and cream which were served separately on a wooden board. All washed down with prosecco (a small bottle each) and as much tea as we could drink! The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was perfect. The staff were most welcoming and attentive throughout, all adding to a very pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended!

Service at the bar was brilliant, fast with good banter. The gents toilet in the bar was a mixture of looking refurbished and broken, the sink tap was not over the sink and had no pressure. The venue was great, the room had good sound, I was there for Warrens dirty thirty, two days of great music. The pizza I ordered in the evening was not worth the money, it appeared to be a microwave pizza and was horrible yo taste. The cafe on the Sunday was lovely and they did a great cuppa tea. Overall, I would recommend the Hilcote Country Club as a music venue with plenty campervan and tent camping space.

Amazing place, amazing venue, amazing food and staff can not wait to keep attending charity festivals here!

Great food but limited choice for non meat eaters, don't recommend the meat free burger but everything else is good although they can be a little short on staff some days

We came for a Sunday dinner last weekend and it was delicious. The two guys running the place were lovely, Polite and attentive. All three courses were very tasty. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon.

Stayed overnight in motorhome after ringing ahead to check. Very friendly staff. Charged £5 for the night to use the aire. However the waste bins were overflowing and the elsan blocked so unusable. We did fill with fresh drinking water and had a relatively quiet night even though so close to the M1. Have stayed before and would again but hope the manager Paulie manages to sort out the elsan.

Love the Willow Cafe. It's just another great addition to The Hilcote country club.

A review of two half’s ! Nice place, decent food and great staff , as a one of event venue it’s fab, However not a place to stay over or camp . Attended a music event with “camping “ your choice is to be meters away from 8 lanes of the motorway with lawn covered concrete (guide rope unfriendly) or motorhomes and awnings near a concrete standing covered in broken glass and charcoal remnants. Unpleasant sleeping arrangements and not ideal for dogs. I think this is all a work in progress so potentially has great things ahead .

Stopped here on our travels for a break and something to eat. Super friendly staff and fantastic food. It is a hidden gem. Just of Junction 28 on M1 It also accommodates for breakfast and lunch at the Willowtree Cafe/Bistro. Will definitely call in again. Excellant

Lovely meal with very nice, friendly staff. Recommended. Generous portions with a very reasonable price. We stayed overnight on the car park in our motorhome, there is a hook up for £5 and a parking fee of £5, water but no emptying point. Really good value.

We had our school prom here last night and I have to say it was a brilliant evening. Danny was amazing, he was so attentive in making sure everything was ok for us, the staff were great too. The food was gorgeous and there was plenty to go round , in fact too much and those homemade chips were to die for. The kids had the best time and that's what it was about. Thanks Danny and team. Highly recommended

Hilcote country club used to be the best carvery around. Not anymore, they don’t even serve carvery. You can imagine our disappointment when we turned up and there was no carvery deck (even after asking 2 members of staff the night before if they still did carvery - to which they replied YES) Turned up, car park was unusually empty for 12:30 on a Sunday - there was a reason for that! We asked if they still allowed you to have all 3 meats with your dinner (as they did previously with the carvery) The server said yes- you can imagine our surprise when we went to pay the bill that we were charged £3.50 each for the 3 meats! We waited 45 mins for our food to be served. Meat was dry (we took it home for the dogs)! Yorkshire puddings were not even Yorkshire puddings (just a lump of dough). Stuffing was ok, roasties were ok, mash was ok. Veg was the hottest thing on the plate & Who serves soggy red cabbage with a Sunday dinner? My partner would eat just about anything but even he didn’t eat the majority of his Sunday dinner. Very disappointed. Came to £62 for 4 “none carvery’s” and 1 starter. Was asked by the waitress if everything was Ok when clearing away - to which we told her our concerns. She didn’t care. Neither did the bar staff who asked us the same question upon paying. We didn’t bother telling the manager, we just won’t return for the food.

Incredible uplift and hidden gem! With a fabulous recent makeover and wonderful food this restaurant has to be visited. There are plans for a bistro and cafe area which will include afternoon tea and brunch etc. our evening meal was beautiful with great service too. The desert was one of the best I’ve had for years!

Pretty average place. It's just off a main road; make sure not to miss the turn. Signage isn't the best outside. The place is quite nice for a small venue/party. Has ample parking; but the carpark does need to be tarmac.

One of my favourite local pubs, the staff are so friendly and helpful! When we have time we will go and have a meal there and the food is faultless, all homemade! They offer an auction night on a Thursday which is great fun if you have no plans even to go and watch.

Brilliant night last Friday. Second time we’ve been to see the act and it just as good second time. As was the organisation, the food and the service. We’ll done team. 10/10

On Saturday night we were the group celebrating a 40th birthday party. We had a venue booked, food booked and a band arranged. But at the last minute they cancelled over a minor disagreement with a member of our party and we were left hanging high and dry. The staff at the Hilcote immediately rose to the challenge when we rang asking for a table for fifteen to twenty ... needed there and then ... and on a Saturday night! They were brilliant. Within the hour we had a really good table and an amazing and varied buffet of tasty, hot food. Fantastic. They were so accommodating and helpful even though they were also dealing with a full function in another room. They all deserve a pat on the back, they were great. So, huge thanks to the Hilcote for turning a total disaster into a wonderful evening.

Had a fabulous Sunday dinner there yesterday, lovely roast beef with a good selection of vegetables gorgeous parsnips and roasties. Would highly recommend just go with an empty tummy.😀

We were booked in on Thursday the 5th of January and they were closed and we had no prior notice of this, very disappointing!! Ruined a family night out!! :(

Disappointed that the carvery is no more! The set Sunday lunch wasn't great and I'll not be in a hurry to return, despite the nice decor etc. Potatoes tasted deep fried, not roasted, veg was mediocre and it's now extra for cauliflower cheese. Meat was tough and not much of it. Such a shame... The standards have dropped and it was quite empty, whereas it always used to be rammed full.

Went for the wife's works Xmas meal, great place, fantastic service, the disco & atmosphere was brilliant, the food was awful. #NEVERAGAIN

Went on a works christmas party, the food was reasonable considering the number of people in the building but seating was poor cramped around tables that were too small for the number trying to eat. One ladies chair collapsed but we were sat on little more than deck chairs.

Went for Christmas dinner food and service was excellent but needed mote Christmas touches for ambience, crackers, serviettes etc

4 of us went for the lunchtime menu on a Wednesday. Great food and service. We were served in the bar rather than the dinning room. No problems with that

went today for the first time in forever and now i think it will become a regular stop for us! we went for the sunday lunch today, it was amazing huge portions plenty of everything and more we ordered some extras but in reality we didnt need them, they popped us in the bar area as we bought the dog with us which was just as nice as the resturant side and it was very pleasant, nice to be able to bring the dog with us. first of many visits as we can walk on the trails to get too and have a pitstop 👍

No barcardi or Southern comfort also run out of diet coke. Should be stocked ready for 21st party

I would definitely recommend going for the brunch! Our server molly was absolutely amazing she made my night and had a laugh with me and my friends! It was for my 18th birthday and we were a party of 12 and she specifically made sure that everyone of our needs were catered to and that we weren’t without a drink for too long so that we could get our money worth🙂 great value for money and very very friendly staff I will definitely be returning! Molly is a credit to your team someone give that girl some credit, Thankyou to everyone at hilcote we all had a great time and a night we will remember forever!🫶🏼

It's an Aire. Has the basics, fresh water, black waste & EHU for £10 per night or £5 without EHU. It's a Country Club so from Weds to Sunday there's bar and food available in a spacious park area. Only EHU for 2, so far anyway. It is near the M1 so traffic noise but not obtrusive in MoHome.

Wow wow wow. Food great massive portions. Had to take home. Staff lovely. Went on a Groupon deal

Visited for a Groupon afternoon tea, I was slightly disappointed on first arrival but it was pleasant decor inside and friendly staff. Food fresh, but light on variety. Full price might have been more enjoyable. I won’t be going back.

Attended a brilliant 40th birthday party here, large function room, clean and polite staff. What’s more they do Cornish rattler on tap! Looking forward to returning to try their menu!
