Just stopped for a pint. But the hotel was beautiful and clean. The food being brought out looked lovely. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Hope to come back and stay.

We had Sunday lunch here. We were served by Guy. He was friendly, extremely efficient, really on the ball. We had an issue and he sorted it out immediately. The food was very good too! Definitely coming here again!

The food was lovely and tasty. The adult meals were generally great. The kids' meals were more frozen pizza/chips, but the price is low, and they get a "main" and 2 side options. So you can't complain about the price and the kids generally ate it. Be aware, as we weren't, that they do not take cash at all. And you are not told over the phone while booking. Which they really should. A few tables around us were shocked or agreed that they'd been caught out by this themselves previously. So something they should make you aware of before you book or before you order at least. The water said they have no tills but hope to have some soon. Seems weird to open without them. As we can't be the only people who had cash to pay with. Especially when you go for a meal and it's a mixed group and you all split the bill. Quite a few staff members who were nice. New, so didn't know answers to everything, but they were all lovely, and I'm sure they will be brilliant once they have worked there a bit longer.

Had a lovely meal for my birthday.the food was super. We enjoyed a bottle of wine on the terrace. The staff were great, especially Charlie who was attentive, cheerful and professional. Great place; would highly recommend.

A great couple of days were had there. The room we had was huge with a super king-size (?) bed, fabulous service and food, will definitely return.

First visit for a long time in which time it has changed hands. Visited recently for lunch and a drink. My rump steak and chips was well presented but the steak was very tough and practically inedible. I raised the issue with the manageress and a replacement meal arrived shortly. Unfortunately the new steak was of the same batch but not as bad as the first one, it happens I guess. The manageress was very good at dealing with the situation and apologies we're accepted. I'd be happy to return at a later date.

Attended for a lovely meal this evening and served by the awesome Charlie. I’ve had a number of meals at The Royal and Charlie was by far one of the best if not the best…and that’s saying something as I’ve always enjoyed my visits. Would thoroughly recommend

They didn't give us anything to eat because they had a lot of people, the place is good for the views, nothing else

The Royal Inn has had a make over and looks very good indeed. Great views plenty of places to sit outside and indoors. Had the two course menu 16.50 so good value.

The place is nice, outdoor seating very nice in the sun but you must book in advance. Saying this they didnt allow us to reserve outdoor seating when booking. We were asked to tell staff when we wanted mains and puddings bringing out, which was odd for a pub meal. Staff were minimal for the busy summertime rush.

Fantastic place. Beautiful atmosphere and surroundings alike. A team that truly care about their guests and experience. Highly recommended to anyone visiting or living in the Bristol area.

Popped in for a few drinks on 11 August then went back today (18 Aug) for brunch. Really lovely food and fast and friendly service. Hubby and I went for a meal on 29 Dec 23. Great food and excellent service!

After hearing excellent things, I visited Royal Inn without knowing what to expect, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel overlooks the sea, interior is tasteful and comfortable, service was excellent from what can only be described as a lovely team and the fish and chips were delicious.

We had an exceptional stay at the Royal Inn, enjoying dinner, breakfast, and lunch. The location is stunning with breathtaking views and our recently refurbished room was lovely. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The food was delicious with generous portions. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend !

We had lunch yesterday. My partner had the steak sandwich, which he throughly enjoyed, he said the meat was cooked perfect and no fat. I however, had the vegetable tart, it was tasty, the salad was a bit oily and could have done with a few cherry tomatoes and I was disappointed in my portion of new roasted potatoes could of done with a couple more, but apart from that we had a relaxing time.

Great spot to enjoy a beer with friends. Very pleasant staff. See you soon

Absolutely loved this old Inn located as it is on the Severn just opposite Wales which you can see across the river. I do wonder why many establishments in the UK insist on having winter duvets in the summer but then I guess the reality is that they don’t really have a lot of summer to deal with, so I’m probably griping about a real non-issue! Enjoyed the heck out of this place, Jess who I assume to be the manager checked us in and sorted us out with a great table. We had a lovely dinner. Everyone was super nice and really really enjoyed the small beach just down by the stairs which was a nice relaxing place to go and 420 chill for a bit!

Marvelous food, superb service and gorgeous views. Book now you won't be disappointed. Roasts were really good.

Shame it’s a cash only bar! Didn’t discover this until two drinks were served at the bar to us. Thanks to a very lovely man who was ordering his own drinks at the same time offering to pay for ours then we gave him our cash, otherwise we would have had to leave, such a shame they don’t take cash. The young girl serving us looked shocked we wanted to pay cash, she was polite but offered no alternative and seamed accepting of us walking away without our drinks🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s cash still legal tender ?🤔

Had a meal with my wife last night 8/8/24 and it was a truly lovely experience. The restaurant was very busy yet the staff were friendly and attentive and gave us their time with a smile and patience. Charlotte in particular was charming and dealt with all the stress that came her way. I understand that there was a young man on his first night and he was friendly, helpful and pleasant also. This hotel chain has made a big difference to its previous standing, so credit must be given to the Managers, chefs and staff for turning it around. Well done to all and thank you.

Food was exceptionally low quality not cooked well did not reflect the beautiful interior and exterior … this place is all style and no substance when it comes to the food sadly we complained as it was so terrible and one of us even found a hair which is so off putting. We were told to we would get refunded and nothing has gone into the bank. Very very disappointed so we will not be going back; shame because this is Local to me and It’s a beautiful location, perhaps just stick to drinks if you’re going to go here as the food is worse than a cheap motel.

Stayed with a friend for one night. Amazing stay couldnt fault it.. Staff all very friendly & polite. Food was great Shame about the rain Would of loved to sit in the garden as that looked amazing too. Will definitely be back amd hopefully next time the sun Will shine so we can enjoy the garden.

Came here last week terrible food and was supposed to get our money paid back into our accounts but still a week later nothing ! This place looks the part but the food is terrible

Fantastic service, I think the staff member was called Ruby, extremely friendly and poured an excellent pint of Guinness which is a rare skill in this part of the country

We went on a busy Saturday evening, staff seemed harassed and had to be prompted to take our orders as with other diners. I asked for the bill on several occasions and in the end I got up and asked a waitress who seemed quite cross and snapped ‘she’s doing it’!! I didn’t ask again, my husband went up and paid. Food was nice though.

Dropped in as in the area and I must say we very happy we did. The food was excellent, the staff were very pleasant and had excellent customer service, the outside dining area and the view were very nice. Thank you we will be back.

A stunning view was had on the terrace of The Royal Hotel. We had lunch, which was excellent. An all round great food venue!

Absolutely amazing place and hospitality is second to none! Kaman and his team are exceptional! Thank you for a fantastic meal for all our family. The quality of the food was exquisite. My family came from London and Birmingham and were very impressed with the whole place, which was exceptionally clean and the decor is so welcoming. The staff could not do enough to make our stay any better I don’t often leave reviews but the service was so brilliant that I just had to! If you want a place to remember for all the right reasons, then this is the one to go to, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you and we will all be back very soon!

This is a must for anyone stopping around this area. The rooms were fantastic and so was the food and service. Beautiful view off the garden whilst having breakfast. Incredibly clean everywhere. Special shout out to Gabriella and Natasha.

Stayed in the Room 1 Tusker Rock, Amazing views of the garden and channel! Staff were amazing and very hospitable! Manager Kaman was very helpful with a slight alteration that was needed and waiter Jack was very efficient and friendly. Will be coming again, if we ever have more sunshine to enjoy the garden area more !!

Didn't stay there only had a meal there twice so can't comment on the quality of the rooms will dine there again went there on father's Day not booked with our dog very busy obviously told at at the bar kitchens not taking any more orders female manager squeezed us in very nice lady dog friendly hotel dogs allowed in the bar area and anywhere outside service quick hot and very nice

Everything today was top class! We had a large table for Father's Day, the roasts were brilliant, slow cooked rib of beef especially. Children's meals spot on, deserts were very good. The service from Jess was especially great, so friendly and diligent checking our orders. Service was quick, and really attentive for any extra drinks or supplements. Thanks for a great day.

We had an excellent luncheon at the pub ... Excellent location ... The staff were very attentive and pleasant ... Food was freshly cooked to order ... Seems like a very popular place for locals.

Gammon Egg and Chips. An easy pub classic ruined with average oven chips, frozen peas and a anemic egg yoke. Extra one star for an ok gammon steak.

Just had a fantastic meal here! I had the supper menu of squid and a very nice burger with cheese and bacon! Yummy! Hubby had lamb off the specials menu! Be said it was fantastic! Wine was ok £21 for a quality bottle of red! Happy days! Will be back in a couple of months time!!!

From speaking with Gaby to make the reservation to arriving and spending a couple nights here the service, hospitality and ambience were first class. Well done to you all. Exceptionally well presented pub and hotel with excellent views across the estuary to Wales. Decor and staff are to a high standard, food is tasty, quickly prepared and fairly priced (with huge hunks of bread to book). Large indoor and outdoor seating friendly for animals and children alike. Expansive parking options including electric charging spaces. Nice walk options locally afterwards. Excellent.

Really pleased Gabriella managed to find us a table at short notice. You need to book a table here as they are a busy pub. I had the steak and ale pie and it was huge, couldn’t eat it all!!

The Royal Inn, Portishead is a majestic building, with elegant and stylish decor in a prime location with beautiful gardens and views across the Severn Estuary. We received outstanding customer service, from the warm welcome and excellent food and drink. We are looking forward to visiting regularly.

Food was good as was service . Don't like being told at the end that they only deal in plastic and no cash. Will not eat here again. Unfortunate but refuse to be told how I should pay so will not eat here again.

Visited Portishead and booked the Royal Inn for Friday evening food, myself, wife and dog. Great service and dogs are treated well, separate area but bowels, water and treats provided. Food was great, with my wife going for Garden Plot Medley and me a Lamb special. Unusually mine featured char grilled gem lettuce which I was initially dubious about but enjoyed. Beer good (for Green King), skipped the IPA obvs and went for the Abbot. We were so impressed we went for breakfast and were well looked after by Kaman and Chris. Again reasonable priced good food and great service which extended to help with directions to the coast path to Clevedon. Definitely go again

Very nice and very busy even on a Thursday lunchtime. Would recommend booking online if you want to secure a table to be sure. Plenty of nice seating outside as well. I enquired about Sunday lunch again and recommend booking as it gets extremely busy.

Had a very tasty, flavoursome lunch. Very pleasant ambience.

Went yesterday for partners birthday lunch which all of us were looking forward to. Adult mains were cool, and medium rare rump was well done, thin, and so cold the herb butter didn’t even start to melt. Didn’t mention at time because would spoil the celebratory event. Such shame as really looking forward to this meal and I know it is usually much better, even the reopening night when rump was 10/10 and hot! That said servers were great and surroundings were comfortable. Good range of alcohol free too.

A lovely restaurant and bar. Great selection from a traditional Gastro menu. Excellent, prompt service from knowledgeable attentive staff. Well cooked, hot food. No complaints. Lovely setting overlooking Portershead Bay. Did not stay at the hotel on this occasion.

I visited the Royal Inn this afternoon with my family and partner as a birthday celebration, the food was as usual amazing but what made this visit extra special was the service I experienced, Catlin the manaer and Izzy the lovely lady who served us who catered to our every need and made us all feel very special. Thank you, we will be back again.

Local to the area but never eaten here before. Stopped by today for lunch and it was amazing. Stunning views, great menu with lots of vegetarian choice. Our only criticism and it is a weak one as the place is spectacular, the menu is great, the food is served well and tastes great BUT you give out what tastes like the world's cheapest mayonnaise, it's disgusting! Even Wetherspoons gives customers the finest mayo, Hellman's! That said, we will be back for more of the Camembert (extra onion chutney please 😉)

Stopped in here to grab a coffee and enjoy the view on my break. A great, friendly welcome from Chris (a credit to your establishment!) and a fantastic coffee. My freind and I had just walked from Bristol to Portishead and made it for sunrise. We saw the garden outside this place and we both knew we had to try this place out. Had an amazing breakfast here and it was top tier. Really great veiw from the garden and to top it off, I had great service from Chris. He was friendly and welcoming which really made my visit so much better.

I was taken here for a birthday meal and it was a great experience. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The views are so nice to look out at whilst eating your meal. A nice atmosphere too. We will return again. Thanks

Great place with really good food. One of the best in Portishead after its refurb last year.

Gabriella and the team were amazing, it was the first time we've been able to take my father-in-law out after an accident, and the whole team went above and beyond. If someone at the restaurant sees this, please may I have a contact email for the area manager to pass on our praise.
