Met for a familyvlunch. Excellent food, efficient but unobtrusive service. Excellent location. Car parking a bit of a challenge. Will definitely book again.

Our Server Guy was absolutely exceptional he was very attentive with wonderful energy. The food was fabulous and they cater to your every need!!! would definitely recommend

First time here, what a beautiful location. If you're going for a drink this is a lovely place. However the food was absolutely terrible. If this pub got their food right it would be amazing. The burger was processed dense meat, the gammon was ok but small portions and the chips / fries were all over cooked. None of us finished our meals. Terrible waste of money for us all.

Great location. The private room for lunch was great. Service was messed up with the wrong order, but apart from that, a great afternoon.

My wife and I plus two close friends had a wonderful lunch at the Royal Inn today. The food was excellent and very large portions. The server, Jacob was extremely professional, polite and efficient. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant.

Prebooked party of 17 for 30th birthday, not organised at all, food came cold, too salty and potatoes like bullets Edit Spoke to General Manager who reached out, satisfied with conversation, matter now closed...look forward to returning in the summer to drink in fantastic views from the outside terrrace

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the royal inn , and I must say, it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. My room was spacious, impeccably clean, and featured all the amenities I could ask for, including a comfortable bed, a well-appointed bathroom, and a stunning view of the city. I booked this hotel for my birthday for me and my sister and will definitely be returning again . The room was very clean and attention to detail was amazing. I couldn’t fault the staff at all , they were lovely and welcoming and thouroughly made sure we enjoyed our stay. I chose a rump steak for dinner and didn’t regret it as it was cooked beautifully . There continental breakfast had a large variety of things to choose from , followed by my avocado and poached eggs on toast which were yummy😋 Will definitely be returning to this hotel and restaurant as I can’t fault them one bit !

Booked in for a Sunday Roast, had the vegetarian option which was lovely! The staff were all really welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is very warm and cosy. Great views over the sea and a huge outside terrace which I’m sure gets very busy in the summer. Very doggy friendly too, we will definitely be returning!

We had a lovely meal here. The garden medley starter was delicious! As was the scotch egg! Perfectly runny in the middle. Jacob and Jess were great. Helpful, polite and checked on us regularly. Great service. Lovely location.

Disappointing, my wife and I was really looking forward to staying the night, I made a booking last night via Booking.com, which what I thought was for tonight. Turns out I made a mistake and somehow made it for next month! I requested a date change which failed to go through, I then made a second mistake by cancelling the booking so I could rebook for tonight. Trying to get hold of someone was impossible, the messaging service they use was rubbish, I kept getting an error message stating it could not be delivered, so I thought I would ring the hotel, just has bad!. After my call was answered by an automated females voice, I was put through and it rang and rang....no answer. I tried again later to have the same issue.

Great place to stop by to have food and drink. Staff were super friendly and top service. Beautiful views in the outside seating. Reasonably priced. You can take a walk by the sea and walk up to this place. Highly recommended

We had lunch today, absolutely fantastic service from all the staff, Gabriella in particular was so warm and friendly. Definitely be back again really soon.

Really enjoyed our visit. The specials menu was good and I tried the braised beef cheeks, they were really good and lots of veg with it too! My partner had the pork belly which was also good and we made the most of the 2 for £20 mains in Jan.

Had some recent meals there. Lunch bar snacks and main meals. Could not fault the food or service.

We have just return from a lovely weekend at the Royal Inn with our two young children. The hotel was so comfortable, food was amazing and the service was superb (especially from Chris and Dominika). I would definitely recommend it and we will going to stay again soon.

Came in for the burns night menu and was not dissapointed. Four exquisite courses for £28?! That wasn't even the best bit. The service was phenomenal, a special thanks to Caitlin for being our host and catering to our table. Had a grumbly 18 month old with us and they didn't bat an eye about it. I will be back!

Have been here a couple of times now and the food was great and the waiting staff were lovely, my only complaint is from my last visit when I went to the bar to get change to leave a tip but I was ignored by 3 members of staff so unfortunately nobody got a tip.

I came for dinner on Saturday and got served by Guy he was very helpful and brought everything we needed over asap.

We are a family of four from The Netherlands and had such a wonderful stay at the Royal Inn, when we stayed here end of October ‘24! Especially the breakfast in the morning served by Chris was great and really delicious and he made sure everything was taken care of, also for our kids. The room was beautiful and spacious and the beds were made up every day we came back from our trips and clean towels too! Had dinner at the restaurant twice, with family that lives nearby, and we all really enjoyed it. Would definitely stay here again when coming over to Portishead!

Stay here frequently! Amazing place! Caitlin is always fantastic! She really goes above and beyond! Chris is also always doing the most to make us happy! I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

After hearing excellent things, I visited Royal Inn without knowing what to expect, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel overlooks the sea, interior is tasteful and comfortable, service was excellent from what can only be described as a super friendly team who are happy in their roles and the fish and chips were delicious.

My husband booked a room for us which was lovely. Large and spacious with huge bath in the ensuite as well as a walk in shower. Lovely views from the room over the water watching the boats/ships. We had a three course meal late afternoon. Starter of pork terrine was delicious. Main was lovely and good sized portion. Only thing that let it down slightly was the roast potatoes, they were a bit dry and not crispy. Desert was nice, staff were attentive and polite. Breakfast of egg royal with spinach and hollandaise sauce was particularly wonderful, top marks. Will definitely return. Lovely stay.

Fabulous evening meal and plenty of choice to suit all tastes on the separate 'non-gluten containing' menu. Have already booked for a Sunday lunch and also breakfast with Santa for the grandchildren in December.

Superb Christmas dinner, great food, well cooked with a lovely atmosphere and excellent service by Izzy. We were greeted by a glass of prosecco 🥂, followed by a starter about 10 minutes later (pre-ordered). The food was so well cooked, hot and plentiful. Highly recommended and would do Christmas day again.

We booked breakfast with Santa for the second year running. My children and I had a lovely morning which was made special by all the staff at The Royal Inn. Wonderful and welcoming like always with a delicious breakfast to top it off!

Me and my family came for Christmas Day and it was absolutely everything we had hoped for. The service from Guy was brilliant and thank you to the Manager Kaman for making sure all of our extra alterations and different requests were made. We even got the table we really wanted. I met a freind there that I haven't seen for a while, for a few drinks. We were met with warm , and friendly staff and prompt service. Enjoyed a very nice evening at the Royal Hotel.

Hotel manager Kaman Miller made Christmas even more special for us. Due to plans falling through we appeared at the Royal last minute and he was extremely friendly and went out of his way to make sure we got great food and a table with Christmas crackers! Would have completely understood if we were too late but he made sure we had a great Christmas. Thank you very much!

We celebrated my son’s 5th birthday at The Royal, we decided on the day and they were very accommodating with us. Gabriella was brilliantly attentive, colours and drawings for my two toddlers and she even joined in to sing happy birthday with us! Real demonstration of the extra mile and why I would recommend coming for a meal here. Food was as lovely as ever, I can confidently say that each time I’ve eaten at the royal I’ve enjoyed my experience, and we are well into double figures now! Great pub.

We have had our work Christmas meal here 2 years in a row and both times have received excellent service. Catering for around 20 people isn't easy yet everyone received their meals in a timely manner and all food was nicely cooked and hot. We had Charlie and Jess looking after us this year and their service was amazing. As I said all the food was served quickly and plates tidied away quickly, as well as regularly checking if anyone needed any extra drinks. 10/10 would recommend.

My old haunt early 70s. The meal and surroundings were good. Only negative comment was, on recommendation of waiter, had low alcohol Old Speckled Hen, absolutely awful taste. First time in my life I left a pint.

First time trying this beautiful site today and after having it recommended I’m so glad that we did! Excellent and friendly service from our waitress Isabelle V and the food was just as great! We will definitely be back again to try another one of the Sunday roasts as they all look amazing and we are thinking of having a stay in the rooms too

The staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. The Camembert wedges were incredible. Literally out of this world best tasting thing ever!!! Portions were fantastic sizes. Atmosphere was lovely. Food was served quickly and hot. We had a slight issue with an added extra to the bill but this was dealt with immediately and with no issues. Thank you to all involved, we had a such a lovely time.

Exceptional service! We arrived at peak lunchtime on a Saturday leading into Christmas, they were very busy but made us feel welcome and relaxed and arranged a table for us within 15 minutes. Karam was warm, friendly and couldn’t do enough to help my children, from food choices to colouring sheets and crayons. We had a light lunch which was delicious and great value. Thoroughly enjoyable, spontaneous lunch visit - we will certainly be back!

Always loved this pub having been going there since the early 90's and returned there after a good 5 years to a warm and inviting atmosphere with some nice food on top, service was fantastic and would recommend. Would book in advance though just to secure a table.

Always quality food and service at The Royal Inn. Great location at that top of Portishead, with deals for Blue Light members in the app also. Worth booking and lovely to sit outside in the summer in the large beer garden! A must visit

We had a brilliant time at breakfast with Santa and would highly recommend. The kids loved seeing Santa who really engaged with them. The cooked breakfast was good and the service from Kaman and Kaitlin was great 😃

We stayed for a 3 night break over the weekend. The hotel, restaurant and rooms are beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. Very comfy bed and fantastic walk in shower and bathroom facilities. We ate in and the food was delicious and staff are all very friendly and welcoming.No noise from the restaurant when you’re in your rooms and the pub closes at 11. A really wonderful stay and we would definitely return again .

Very nice place to stay, staff very friendly, only complaint I have is that I and my company tried for THREE DAYS to ring the hotel without success they have an annoying Autobot (Claire) which is not what I wish to talk to.

We had an amazing birthday celebration for 30 guests this weekend at the Royal in their 3 open plan rooms.The food was lovely, the atmosphere and our waitress Jess made sure we had everything we needed and was so attentive throughout the meal and even brought out the birthday cake for my dad and grandma. We had a great night at The Royal, the food was superb, I had the lamb shank shepherds pie (oh wow) and loads of it! Jess our waitress could not do enough and was so attentive, thank you made such a great night of it!

Gabriella found a table where there were no tables and they were super busy - we got served so much quicker than she had even said and had a table with a fab view. We really appreciated the effort to accommodate us and the food was great! Natasha was really helpful with recommending food to us and was super polite. We would definitely come back if we’re in town again.
