I have eaten in as well as take away. the food is always fresh, delicious with so many flavours. the lamb is tender and the lamb chops make an amazing starter. always super friendly and attentive.great as a special occasion eat in or a mid week take away.

I recently dined here and was absolutely blown away! From the moment we arrived, the warm atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. The service was impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. The food was simply outstanding! Every dish, from the flavorful momos to the comforting dal bhat, was a burst of authentic Nepali flavors.A special shoutout to the owner, whose passion for his culture and cuisine shines through in every detail. He personally greeted us, shared stories behind the dishes, and made sure our experience was unforgettable.

This is our go to restaurant. We love everything about it from the food to the service to the warm welcome received by anyone dining there. The chicken bhutuwa is delicious and a real favourite of ours. Go, you won’t regret it.

Worst experience. Not a good quality food. Manager was drinking Infront of customers and he brhaved rudely. Non professional staff with hugely lacking manners. Making blunder in bill even.

Fantastic service and quality of food

Booked a table for 4 for sunday bank holiday. The service , food and atmosphere were all excellent. We had a lovely time. Best of all we had the great honour of meeting one of the owners, a gentleman as well as a Royal Gurkha. What a pleasure. I definately would recommend.

As a family, we have visited the Royal Gurkha at least 20 times! Each and every time the food has been incredibly delicious, Kumar has been fabulous and has treated us like family and the team are amazing! As a family we range from early twenties to mid eighties and there is a meal choice to suit all palates. There is no higher praise we can give to this place and recommend the Gurkha to anyone! It’s always a pleasure The Bradley family!

Food of extremely high quality. They have more standard fare as well, for obvious reasons, but their signature and Gurkha dishes are distinctive and well worth the trip over the numerous very good Indian restaurants in the area. Staff attentive and the proprietor and vibe are genuinely charming. Five star every time

was a little disappointed, we have eaten in the restaurant and it was very good ,so thought we would have a take away ,the food did not taste the same ,lots of quite runny sauce and little chicken ,not a patch on the restaurant food but the same price, all 3 dishes tasted very similar.

Good Food, authentic taste, humble staffs. Usually very busy & occupied duting weekend. Reservation required during the weekend to secure your spot.

Attentive service good night out

Excellent food, service was a little slow but the resturant was busy. Only niggle is they don't accept american express despite this being advertised on their website, resturant window and the bill is given in an American express wallet.

Best Indian and Nepalese restaurant in Bedford, and the Service is marvelous. This restaurant is a must visit if you are in Bedford.

Came here for a double date on Wednesday 7th Feb. We had a lovely time. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, we enjoyed it all. Huge variety on the menu! There's something for everyone. I loved the chicken momos!

Nice ambience and excellent service. I did recommend them to make egg free Naan's for vegetarians as they complement traditional veg curries. You could go easy on amount of sugar you put in your curries (paneer) and Manchurian. That said, I would highly recommend them and Diya Royal in Kempston.

Food amazing. Service amazing. They could do with extractor fans. Got home smelling of spices.

Very nice place to dine in Bedford. I love the starters most! Would highly recommend. The grill platters are very nice too and the lamb shank was outta this world.

5 star Indian takeaway! The chicken tikka was probably the best I have ever had very juicy and spice was on point. Price is fair for the great taste and service is fantastic not too pushy. Large and small tables so ideal for couples or big groups.

Good food but not a lot of meat in sauce dishes and quite expensive for a lot of sauce and not a lot of meat. Good flavours though. Would order again but would just order sauces and cook meat at home if possible.

Very disappointing after having read good reviews. None of the meat had been marinated is was very bland, then just had a sauce poured over it. Very few pieces of meat in the dish all sauce. To be served a curry of this poor quality in Bedford when there are so many other Indian restaurants was shocking and it wasn’t cheap. I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning.

I have dined in and had takeaways on a number of occasions. The quality and standard of service is always excellent regardless of whether dining in or just grabbing a bag. The owner of The Royal Ghurka is a retired member of The Gurkha Regiment so being from a military family ….. HUGE respect for him and a wonderful man too 😊👍 Highly recommended ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had a long day at work and ordered a takeaway from my favourite curry house when I got home. The owner turned up at my door with the delivery. He also brought a large Gurkha beer, which I didn’t order and gave it to me free of charge. He explained he had no drivers and was doing the delivery himself. What an absolute gentleman. Made my night. Thank you! This is a must try restaurant if you’re in Bedford. It’s definitely the best curry in Bedford by a long shot too!

Love it here. First choice always. Always feel welcomed by the owner and staff are very attentive. Food incredibly tasty and really does taste fresh (a big plus) and the atmosphere is nice. We've been both midweek and at the weekend and would highly recommend Royal Ghurka.

Although brilliant on delivery time, I will no longer be ordering from here. Over the past year there have been too many changes to the quality of the main dishes, today’s was more like a tomato soup with some spice and a dried chilli thrown in with the meat. Neither mine nor my wife’s meal reflected what was described on the menu. I was disappointed by the change about 6months ago, but thought the chef may have change. Today’s was worse. That said, the bread is still excellent, but is half the size and twice the price it once was. So long RG, your flavours were once the best, but now have become lost in cost efficiency and price hiking.

Food was OK. I thought that some of the ancillary bits, such as nans were expensive. However, great service. The waiters very friendly. The place was very busy for mid week, so had a good atmosphere.

Chicken tikka starter did not have any salad. King prawn starter was incorrectly labelled as chicken. Basic errors.

We have been to this restaurant with friends before but last Saturday it was just two of us. They took us to a table for two which was right next to a table of 8 with small children. We asked for a more quiet table but were told the only tables available were for four so we could not have one. I pointed out there were three tables set for four with just couples sat at them. We were told they may be waiting for friends!! We asked again but we're told sorry no,so we said we would go to another restaurant to which the guy said it's Saturday...you won't find any. Please,come on,this is Tavistok street which is packed with decent restaurants. Then, two separate couples who came in after us were given tables set for four!! Is this because we complained?? Then they gave us a table that was set for four. This was a bad start to our evening however I ordered a whisky with a splash of lemonade and lots of ice but in a tumbler. It arrived in a tall glass. We ordered our food and our first course took ,35 minutes during which time one of the waitresses was continually running,not walking from our floor up to the higher level!! Everything we had was delicious,but sadly the evening was already spoiled for us so...a dissapointing evening,we will try again but next time with friends!! Just to add that we explained all of this to the manager who was introducing himself to the customers and he apologized.

It is the best curry house in Bedford, the quality of the food is unmatched and the price is very reasonable for the quality that is provided, the staff are very nice and the service is very fast.

This was the most delicious and authentic indian food I have ever had from a takeaway. Fresh and full of flavour. Not drowning in oil like most places. The chicken biriyani is so nice and the onion raita dip was lovely. 10/10.
