All superb food, atmosphere and service.

Wonderful food with great service in a top quality venue

Really liked this place, ended up here on a Friday night without a booking. They had enough tables to seat us anyway. Food is good, lots of choices I've not seen before in addition to standard Indain stuff most English are familiar with. Service was really good, prices very much reasonable. Very enjoyable night and not rushed by the staff in anyway - would recommend 👍

Mixed feelings. Food was good and if you don't mind spending a bit of money go for it! But I've never been charged for a popodum in my life so when they asked if I wanted one I said yes. They also brought out a few little accompaniments with it so I tucked in. Was very surprised at the end to see I was billed for both! And I didn't think to check the price of rice when I ordered and was very surprised that cost more than 3 pounds as well. So low score on the service for bringing stuff out without telling me I'd have to pay for it.

Love coming to the Gurkha - Kumar and his team make fantastic and attentive hosts, always pleased to see you. His stories of his Gurkha service are legendary, much like the food! Not your everyday curry house by any stretch - a great varied selection of Nepalese dishes to add to the usual options. Highly recommend

Great service & food was very tasty

Tasty food and extensive selection of menu options. We had the momos and lamb chops to start which were both very nice. For mains, we tried the butter chicken, lamb shank and prawn makhani - all the curries were very nice. Also recommend the naan was also soft and pillowy.

.On Sunday 2nd March, The Charity Chicks held a fundraising event hosted by this exceptional restaurant to raise funds for The Outreach Music Group. It was an amazing day attended by 102 guests and I cannot express how efficient this restaurant were considering the large number being catered for all at once. The food was delicious and the staff could not have been anymore attentive. The owner worked incredibly well with us seeing to our every request and was an integral part of how well run the event was. We have had several events here, but I can honestly say they just keep getting better and better.

Premium prices for run of the mill (mass produce saucepan filled production food) be warned if it’s authentic Indian takeaway food you want - this is not the place It was just about ok but reminded me of a time in a different establishment “when I ordered a pre-made cocktail straight out of the bottle” substandard and non-eventual, not very good at all The takeaway food is just about ok but definitely not worth the price It’s made on mass production for sure and horsed out on command (I don’t know how they think they can get away with serving stuff like this when the majority of their competitors are clearly not serving the same bland stuff) it wasn’t anything even worth recommending (sorry) I know the taste of mass produced - Boiled up in a big pot food when I taste it and this is it 💯 - 5 pieces of chicken in a big plastic dish and drowned in a gallon of sauce (not good at all) and then charged a fortune for it I wouldn’t use these guys again, I’ve had so much better Indian food delivered for a lot less cost

not as good as usual. meat wasn't as good quality and sauces were watery which is a shame as we've ordered and eaten in many times and had great experiences.

We had a lovely meal on Christmas Eve at this restaurant. The food is always delicious, and the staff are incredibly helpful when it comes to selecting the perfect dish. They are more than willing to adjust the spice levels to suit your preference, which is a nice touch. The owner is such a gentleman and perhaps the most welcoming host I've encountered. His amazing life story adds a unique charm, and he makes a point to personally greet each table and spend time talking to all his customers. This personal interaction really makes the dining experience special. Highly recommend visiting! 5*

The experience was one to be remembered, not only for the quality of the food, and the lovely warm restaurant, but also the welcome and company of the restaurant owner. Kumar, you made the night extra special with your conversation and character, we could easily have spent much longer chatting to you! This place is ridiculously good. It’s most likely the best restaurant in Bedford and probably beyond. I hope the good people of Bedford understand and appreciate what an absolute gem of a restaurant this place is. From the location, to the service, to the food. Every detail has been taken into consideration. It’s extremely rare to find a restaurant which can pull this kind of dining experience off and The Royal Gurkha does it with ease while remaining unpretentious. I highly recommend the Lamb Shank. Absolutely to die for. I fully expect this place to become nationally famous one day.

This is our go to restaurant. We love everything about it from the food to the service to the warm welcome received by anyone dining there. The chicken bhutuwa is delicious and a real favourite of ours. Go, you won’t regret it.

Worst experience. Not a good quality food. Manager was drinking Infront of customers and he brhaved rudely. Non professional staff with hugely lacking manners. Making blunder in bill even.

Fantastic service and quality of food

Booked a table for 4 for sunday bank holiday. The service , food and atmosphere were all excellent. We had a lovely time. Best of all we had the great honour of meeting one of the owners, a gentleman as well as a Royal Gurkha. What a pleasure. I definately would recommend.

As a family, we have visited the Royal Gurkha at least 20 times! Each and every time the food has been incredibly delicious, Kumar has been fabulous and has treated us like family and the team are amazing! As a family we range from early twenties to mid eighties and there is a meal choice to suit all palates. There is no higher praise we can give to this place and recommend the Gurkha to anyone! It’s always a pleasure The Bradley family!

Food of extremely high quality. They have more standard fare as well, for obvious reasons, but their signature and Gurkha dishes are distinctive and well worth the trip over the numerous very good Indian restaurants in the area. Staff attentive and the proprietor and vibe are genuinely charming. Five star every time

was a little disappointed, we have eaten in the restaurant and it was very good ,so thought we would have a take away ,the food did not taste the same ,lots of quite runny sauce and little chicken ,not a patch on the restaurant food but the same price, all 3 dishes tasted very similar.

Good Food, authentic taste, humble staffs. Usually very busy & occupied duting weekend. Reservation required during the weekend to secure your spot.

Attentive service good night out

Excellent food, service was a little slow but the resturant was busy. Only niggle is they don't accept american express despite this being advertised on their website, resturant window and the bill is given in an American express wallet.

Came here for a double date on Wednesday 7th Feb. We had a lovely time. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, we enjoyed it all. Huge variety on the menu! There's something for everyone. I loved the chicken momos!

Nice ambience and excellent service. I did recommend them to make egg free Naan's for vegetarians as they complement traditional veg curries. You could go easy on amount of sugar you put in your curries (paneer) and Manchurian. That said, I would highly recommend them and Diya Royal in Kempston.

Food amazing. Service amazing. They could do with extractor fans. Got home smelling of spices.
