We had a lovely meal on Christmas Eve at this restaurant. The food is always delicious, and the staff are incredibly helpful when it comes to selecting the perfect dish. They are more than willing to adjust the spice levels to suit your preference, which is a nice touch. The owner is such a gentleman and perhaps the most welcoming host I've encountered. His amazing life story adds a unique charm, and he makes a point to personally greet each table and spend time talking to all his customers. This personal interaction really makes the dining experience special. Highly recommend visiting! 5*

On Monday evening (09/12/24) me and my family visited the 'Royal Ghurka' restaurant for the first time. The experience was one to be remembered, not only for the quality of the food, and the lovely warm restaurant, but also the welcome and company of the restaurant owner. Kumar, you made the night extra special with your conversation and character, we could easily have spent much longer chatting to you! Tasty food and will re-order again. Mix Grill and food was slightly warm when delivered and would have preferred it being sizzling hot.

This place is ridiculously good. It’s most likely the best restaurant in Bedford and probably beyond. I hope the good people of Bedford understand and appreciate what an absolute gem of a restaurant this place is. From the location, to the service, to the food. Every detail has been taken into consideration. It’s extremely rare to find a restaurant which can pull this kind of dining experience off and The Royal Gurkha does it with ease while remaining unpretentious. I highly recommend the Lamb Shank. Absolutely to die for. I fully expect this place to become nationally famous one day.

If you want a real taste of Nepal then look no further! We celebrated our friends 50th here and one of the best things about this restaurant was the service and obviously the food! The manager/owner was extremely accommodating and welcoming! 10/10

The service was impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. The food was simply outstanding! Every dish, from the flavorful momos to the comforting dal bhat, was a burst of authentic Nepali flavors.A special shoutout to the owner, whose passion for his culture and cuisine shines through in every detail. He personally greeted us, shared stories behind the dishes, and made sure our experience was unforgettable.

This is our go to restaurant. We love everything about it from the food to the service to the warm welcome received by anyone dining there. The chicken bhutuwa is delicious and a real favourite of ours. Go, you won’t regret it.

Worst experience. Not a good quality food. Manager was drinking Infront of customers and he brhaved rudely. Non professional staff with hugely lacking manners. Making blunder in bill even.

Fantastic service and quality of food

Booked a table for 4 for sunday bank holiday. The service , food and atmosphere were all excellent. We had a lovely time. Best of all we had the great honour of meeting one of the owners, a gentleman as well as a Royal Gurkha. What a pleasure. I definately would recommend.

As a family, we have visited the Royal Gurkha at least 20 times! Each and every time the food has been incredibly delicious, Kumar has been fabulous and has treated us like family and the team are amazing! As a family we range from early twenties to mid eighties and there is a meal choice to suit all palates. There is no higher praise we can give to this place and recommend the Gurkha to anyone! It’s always a pleasure The Bradley family!

Food of extremely high quality. They have more standard fare as well, for obvious reasons, but their signature and Gurkha dishes are distinctive and well worth the trip over the numerous very good Indian restaurants in the area. Staff attentive and the proprietor and vibe are genuinely charming. Five star every time

was a little disappointed, we have eaten in the restaurant and it was very good ,so thought we would have a take away ,the food did not taste the same ,lots of quite runny sauce and little chicken ,not a patch on the restaurant food but the same price, all 3 dishes tasted very similar.

Good Food, authentic taste, humble staffs. Usually very busy & occupied duting weekend. Reservation required during the weekend to secure your spot.

Attentive service good night out

Excellent food, service was a little slow but the resturant was busy. Only niggle is they don't accept american express despite this being advertised on their website, resturant window and the bill is given in an American express wallet.

Came here for a double date on Wednesday 7th Feb. We had a lovely time. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, we enjoyed it all. Huge variety on the menu! There's something for everyone. I loved the chicken momos!

Nice ambience and excellent service. I did recommend them to make egg free Naan's for vegetarians as they complement traditional veg curries. You could go easy on amount of sugar you put in your curries (paneer) and Manchurian. That said, I would highly recommend them and Diya Royal in Kempston.

5 star Indian takeaway! The chicken tikka was probably the best I have ever had very juicy and spice was on point. Price is fair for the great taste and service is fantastic not too pushy. Large and small tables so ideal for couples or big groups.

Good food but not a lot of meat in sauce dishes and quite expensive for a lot of sauce and not a lot of meat. Good flavours though. Would order again but would just order sauces and cook meat at home if possible.

Very disappointing after having read good reviews. None of the meat had been marinated is was very bland, then just had a sauce poured over it. Very few pieces of meat in the dish all sauce. To be served a curry of this poor quality in Bedford when there are so many other Indian restaurants was shocking and it wasn’t cheap. I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning.

I had a long day at work and ordered a takeaway from my favourite curry house when I got home. The owner turned up at my door with the delivery. He also brought a large Gurkha beer, which I didn’t order and gave it to me free of charge. He explained he had no drivers and was doing the delivery himself. What an absolute gentleman. Made my night. Thank you! This is a must try restaurant if you’re in Bedford. It’s definitely the best curry in Bedford by a long shot too!
