Roya in Glasgow City

Very disappointed. We took the trouble of writing privately to avoid a public review but did not get the courtesy of a reply. Totally inflexible menu choice: we must all be pre-theatre or all a la carte. One person’s needs could only be met with an a la carte dish – so the three of us eating the pre-theatre menu were charged an extra £70 to make us all a la carte. Also, the main courses arrived while we were still at our starters. We said we were not ready and were firmly told it comes ready or not. We protested and were told, ‘If I take it back it will just sit there getting cold anyway’. I don’t think we have encountered that before in a quality restaurant.

Amazing platter of food and lovely wee sharing plates. £90-100 for three courses, two glasses of red wine and a cocktail , around the £100 mark. Great tasting food and very well presented. The restaurant is well managed with a manager on the door. We were looked after by Esther and Iona, and another woman , tall blonde lady. Will deffo be back with my partner. They have Lebanese red wine , and it’s lovely.

Me enteré de este lugar por unos amigos , decidió hacer una visita , estaba decorado bien y la comida se servía rápido pero estaba frío por desgracia , las bebidas eran buenas pero se fue ligeramente decepcionado. El servicio estaba en su punto, así que para eso volvería a visitar

No me quedé a comer ya que me dejaron limpio con las bebidas. Fuimos recibidos por el hombre en la puerta lo suficientemente educado pero zapatillas sucias. Luego nos sentamos y el lugar tiene una decoración agradable, pero un chip en las paredes cld ser retocado. Las bebidas sin embargo fueron una decepción. Pedí un spritz de sandía y lo que vi hacer al joven fue un vodka de sandía con rubicón cubierto con soda. Fue horrible y me costó £ 9 Esta bebida estaba en la sección con aeperol sprtiz por lo que se podría pensar que sería similar. Mi marido pidió un whisky de miel. Whisky con licor de miel y tiene un whisky doble con un cachorro de hielo! También cuesta £ 10. Los camareros no parecían ser los nuevos qué hacer y había platos y vasos sucios sentados. Desafortunadamente 1 calle impresiones cuentan y no nos sentimos como si fuera el mejor así que pagamos las bebidas y nos fuimos.

¡Vine a probar el Sunday Roast, que fue increíble! La carne se cayó del hueso (fuimos por el cordero) y la Sangria empacó un ponche. Gran ambiente, sin duda voy a hacer de este un lugar de citas regulares por la noche

There is no lunch menu here only a la carte so the restaurant was empty. There was literally no one except ourselves which wasn't really surprising considering they only offer a la carte at lunch time and this made lunch pretty expensive. The Labneh starter wasn't particularly nice, very sickly and creamy. The Turkish cigars were delicious but the portion was far too small and the spicy chicken tawook was okay but for the price would have expected it to be accompanied by rice or bread. We all agreed we probably wouldn't return.

This place is absolutely amazing!! Very attentive staff, very helpful explaining the menu and the food presentation was great, food all very tasty and portion size very good. The decor and ambience in the place is also lovely. We went for a works lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely be visiting again soon!

We went for a night out on NYE. The event that was promised and cost us as well was not executed well. We were just standing around waiting to be seated, there was no champagne as promised, belly dance was average and the DJ seemed to be a new starter (everyone deserves to start somewhere). But it was definitely not 'habibi music'. One of the owners was spraying champagne at one table and pretending to have an orgasm. Incredibly inappropriate. Will never go there again. Unhinged.

The food, atmosphere and decor were stunning. The staff could have been a bit nicer, me and my partner felt a little rushed for quick table turnovers. The food selection we chose was wonderful, however there were a couple items that I would not recommend. The croquettes weren’t pair with the right type of sauce, leaving a displeasing taste, I would recommend a more tangy sauce. And the potato’s were dry, unflavoured and the sauce mimicked that of Moskito Glasgow bravas, but poorly done. Overall, I would definitely return. The drinks were incredible and with a few tweaks to our food selection, the night will surely be a good one.

We received a friendly welcome and service was great throughout the meal . The decor is beautiful, such a relaxing ambiance. Food was incredible, beautiful flavours . Can’t wait to return

Fantastic meal and excellent service. Wide range of vegan options. Really enjoyed the beetroot salad l. Highly recommend.

First time trying this cuisine and I was blown away with all the flavours. Food was outstanding especially those little pomegranate chicken wings. Was there with a friend and we decided just to get a few mezze dishes so we could try a few things. Staff were attentive and friendly but not in your face. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and I will most definitely be back. Even had me eating aubergine which I always thought I detested!

Early evening dinner. Beautiful room. Great service. Our best dish was the mixed kebabs, however everything was very tasty. It was good value too. We had a bottle of wine and two beers, were stuffed full of delicious food and it was £120 for 4.

Lovely venue, with delicious food, really tasty and well presented but was very poor service - four of us and our meals arrived ten mins apart, so sadly detracted from the experience. Slow, erratic service and quite inattentive.

Visited Royâ before attending a show at the King's Theatre across the road. We enjoyed a number of different dishes and were particularly impressed with the Middle Eastern tatties, the short rib and the shawarma.

This restaurant is superb. The experience was faultless. A superb menu, which is a veritable feast for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The Middle Eastern menu focuses on Persian and Lebanese cuisine. One of our family is Persian and this was a surprise trip. He was delighted by the quality and authenticity of the dishes. A nominated driver will also savour in the mocktails, a grand selection of non-alcoholic drinks. This is not the cheapest of restaurants but offers excellent value for money. Unlike many restaurants, the tables are spaced well apart and are generously proportioned, which ensured sharing platters can fit comfortably on the table. The ambience is intimate, and the decor modern and chic. The service is discrete, timely and friendly. This is certainly going to be top of the list of restaurants on our next visit to Glasgow.

The food and service were superb - the best new restaurant we have tried in Glasgow in a while. The restaurant itself looks amazing, and the service was quick and friendly. We loved the shwarma tacos and the prawns. We will definitely return and we have recommended to friends.

Lovely food and great cocktails. Really good vibe. Would definitely return again. Decor modern but cosy great festive night.

Visited Roya for an anniversary dinner at the beginning of November. As lovers of tapas, we were tempted by the idea of Middle Eastern tapas. It is definitely up there as a new favourite in Glasgow. Really nice vibes inside, subtle but classy. Servers and staff were really welcoming from the moment we walked in. We ordered: Turkish Cigars - absolutely beautiful (just not enough in the portion IMO!!) Biggie Aubergine - super tasty Harissa and Garlic Prawns - filled with flavour but little messy due to peeling Middle Eastern Tatties - massive portion, really good especially the saffron aioli Chicken Shawarma - cooked to perfection Spicy Chicken Kebab (?) - can’t see this one on the online menu for some reason but was 100% the best thing we ordered. Paired great with the accompanying pickle and great garlic aioli. Lahmacun Pideh - super nice, almost a Middle Eastern take on pizza. My partner also had the baklava sandwich for dessert which he raved about (was too full myself personally from the feast prior!!). Can’t wait to return and try out some more of the menu.
