Hi so I was invited to my friends birthday on the 7th October was a 18th birthday party. My friend and his twin payed for 50 pizzas which were £400 and and that’s a lot of money to waste and the owner said they will not give a refund because he was adamant that there was 50 and said to my mate we can’t see the cameras. Truth to be told I did not drink and there was definitely not 50 there was no more then 20. Service was bad the staff that were running the bar were 17 and really undertrained and it was a busy capacity I was waiting 20 minutes for a drink. Truth to be told the pizzas were nice but there wasn’t enough. Also another problem why we think that the owner didn’t make all the pizzas my friend had a catering service there that made food at the same time. Sorry this is so long but the last problem was I brought my friend a £76 bottle of champagne and I knew he got a few more bottles to he asked the people behind the bar to look after them and he insisted they would he asked them if they were sure and they really insisted they got took to. So it wasn’t a good night and we are all fuming 😤

An unpretentious cafe and bar with an excellent view of the River Thames and lots of passing boats.. The menu is short (pizzas and burgers, no salads) but freshly cooked and tasty. Friendly staff and easy parking. We were there on a sunny Friday night in July and the place was strangely quiet given the prime location. We paid around £35 for two pizzas and drinks.,

We visited with our 2 daughters. We were made to feel very welcome. They even had some toys at one side which we were directed too to entertain the kids and they had board games on the side for older ones. We had some lovely pizzas and even freshly squeezed orange juice which my daughter loved. Lots of rowing memorabilia and lovely atmosphere. I could just imagine sitting on the balcony in the sun watching the world go by on the river. To make life a bit easier there is a large car park or it is walking distance just across Donnington bridge from the tow path. They do talks which we have been too. The one about hotel Chocolat and how their chocolate was made was great and lots of tasty chocolate to try.

If you want to take in the river and its famous rowing heritage then this place is worth the effort. Its the local rowing club, housed in a real 1960s architectural masterpiece on Donnington bridge road. They have opened the doors of their bar to the public and have a wood fired pizza oven out on the balcony. We were a group of 10 and grazed on a continous flow of pizzas for several hours, sitting out on the balcony enjoying watching the college eights practicing for bumps racing. The walls are covered in real rowing memorabilia: bits of old boats, photos of national champions, henley winners as well as drunken annual dinner snaps. Food good. Coffee good. Rowing ambience: excellent. Booze: good.

Fabulous evening in the early evening sun overlooking the river. The ambience in the club was excellent thanks to a great bar manager. Very reasonably priced meals, nicely prepared and enjoyable. Welcoming of everyone.

I ordered a gluten free pizza margherita from the Jericho restaurant , on Deliveroo. The pizza tasted so bad and it wasn’t even cooked properly, I understand gluten free is going to have a different taste. I’ve had gluten free pizzas from other places and it didn’t taste bad, so I’m sure it wasn’t cooked well, plus there was so much mozzarella but not proper sauce, overall it was a bad taste.

I’m in Oxford for work and, by pure accident (or fate?), I discovered this restaurant. Since I don’t like judging a place based on just one visit, I decided to go twice. Spoiler alert: it was a wild ride. Night 1 - The Case of the Missing Tap Water I walk in. The restaurant is half-empty. The host stand? Abandoned. No one in sight. I stand there awkwardly, slowly creeping closer to the counter, wondering if I’m invisible. Finally, a friendly gentleman (who I assume is the manager) spots me and takes me to my table. He asks, “Still or sparkling?” I confidently reply, “Tap water, please.” He nods, says “OK”… and then vanishes into thin air. Water? Never arrived. Did he forget? Did he go on a quest to find the purest tap water in all of England? We may never know. Luckily, a hardworking and super sweet waitress saved the day by taking my order and -miracle of miracles- bringing me the water I had requested years ago (okay, maybe just minutes, but it felt long). Food-wise? Pizza was fantastic! A little too much chunky pepperoni for my taste, but that’s a personal preference. No complaints otherwise. The bill arrives with the usual service charge included. I paid it- but only for the waitress, because our dear manager? Not exactly a service MVP. Night 2 - Speed Service & Vanishing Objects Friday night. Full house. I brace myself for a long wait, but lo and behold. same manager, different energy. This time, he seats me instantly (growth!) at a not-so-great table near the door. No problem, I’ll take what I can get. Does he ask if I want water? Absolutely not. At this point, I assume I’ve been blacklisted from the tap water club. A new waitress, equally delightful, takes my order. Food arrives in record time. I order salmon rigatoni. The salmon? Great. The rigatoni? Blah. No seasoning, no flavor, just… pasta. I consider asking for parmesan, but putting cheese on fish feels like a sin. Then, something incredible happens. I take my last bite. I wipe my mouth. Before I even lower my napkin..BOOM! My plate disappears. Like magic. Before I even blink, my napkin follows. I half expect my phone and wallet to vanish next. Final Thoughts - Lightning-Fast but a Bit Chaotic This restaurant has a solid foundation: good food (mostly), insanely fast service, and hardworking waitstaff. BUT, the customer care is… inconsistent. It’s like they’re on a speedrun of restaurant service, prioritizing efficiency over making guests feel truly welcome. Oh, and maybe, just maybe, someone could bring the tap water next time? Would I return? Maybe.
