Mamma Mia Jericho in Oxford

Popped in before the cinema to see if there would be availability later. Although fully booked they said they should be able to help. Sure enough we popped back and were seated at a bar area. Very warm friendly service from everyone. Food quick and tasty. Lovely ambiance Sensible prices. They deserve to be busy (which they are) Well worth a visit!

The pizzas were disappointing—neither appetising to look at nor enjoyable to eat, and they weren’t even sliced. The tiramisu was essentially all cream, lacking any real texture. While the staff were friendly, it didn’t quite make up for the lacklustre food. Safe to say, I won’t be returning.

This restaurant very kindly fit our large party in at short notice, and made us feel very welcome. I went for the lasagna which was delicious and a decent portion size, and everyone else seemed happy with their meals as well (mix of pasta and pizza). I also had the tiramisu which was lovely. Our servers were attentive and patient, especially when we were paying separately - thank you! Overall a great dinner with friends, but it had a nice ambience that would suit any occasion.

Very good Italian restaurant, with mainly Italian staff as well. The menu is made up of tapas and classic Italian dishes, it is varied and includes many vegetarian and gluten-free options! The place was a bit noisy as a large group was there (back to school) but we had a great time. The servers are attentive and attentive to customers.

I work nearby so sometimes come in for the lunch deal which is great value. This time I needed somewhere to eat with my daughter on the day of the Oxford half marathon, consequently everything in Oxford was very busy and booked up. The restaurant was super busy and full but they very kindly squeezed us in. The pizza is always delicious and today was no different. The main reason I’m writing a review is that I was so impressed with how calm and friendly all the staff were today when they were clearly so busy - at one point I saw the man who I assume was the manager dealing with three people coming to him at once and didn’t loose his cool at all. Super impressed and grateful that we were able to get a quick service and lovely food under these circumstances!

We always visit Mamma Mia's when in Oxford. The service is impeccable, it feels like we're regulars when we only visit once or twice a year. The food is fresh and tasty and their tiramisu is the best we've ever had and we order it no matter how full we are. The wine choices are well recommended, and we thoroughly enjoyed the aperitif and chatting with staff after our meal. Thank you 😊

What's the excuse? A bad pizza at a pizza restaurant!!! Just to say that this is the first revue I've given a restaurant but was inspired to do so by the awful food in Mammamia Pizzeria in Jericho last night. Just looking at the pizza's on the reviews here and ours were nothing like those! Firstly, the restaurant was super-busy and very vibey, I've been several times but not for two years, it always struck me as a failsafe? The manager LOVELY ( and probably firefighting a busy night) however the pizza's were probably the worst we've ever had. My daughter - a gluten free one, when it arrived, the toppings were not cooked, onions, egg, the white still transparent etc, she asked if it could be heated enough to cook the top, apparently gluten free bases can't take the same level of heat, fair, but to cook the toppings, it was returned rock hard. She's never had that problem before and we chose mamma mia was because she is GF, it's an old haunt of hers. Mine, an Americano, not gluten free was uncooked in the middle, onions not cooked, presumable cooked for the same amount of time as the gf - and when popped back in the oven was returned so hard only the middle section was edible. It was such a shame, the manager was very kind to get the pizzas reheated, it's awkward to ask and it makes you feel bad to ask. However, it wasn't just the pizza bases but where was the grate of pepper or Parmesan? There were no complex flavours, no background herb flavours, just an excess of saltiness that was quite unpleasant. Plus one starter, calamari, not cooked quite long enough, the batter damp, a coffee, they had no dairy free milk - but sent a nice lad down to the co-op and a coke between us, this came to £46!! Ouch! When our waitress asked 'how was the pizza?' I said 'honestly not the best' to which she replied ' well. you chose a greasy one'. I don't think she got it! Really sad, I don't get the opportunity to hang out with my daughter so much these days and the experience was disappointing and I felt embarrassed by the food. I hate to dis a local business but that wasn't great.

Surprisingly empty at lunchtime. I had the penne al arribiata and tiramisu which was nice. The people who had pizza said that they were particularly good. Very friendly staff too, not always a given in Oxford.

The staff were absolutely amazing and friendly!! Food was delicious and I will most definitely be coming back soon!! Highly recommend the pizza but I tried the pasta and wow! (Also get the profiteroles or u will regret not)

The tuna salad was bland and generally not delicious. The calamari was somewhat rubbery. It is a shame because the service is wonderful and the outdoor seating is great

Takeaway ordered. Mama Mia is usually reliable tasty pizza. They were clearly having an off day today. Garlic bread was so crispy dry it shattered into fragments. There were only tiny dabs of raw garlic on it. The garlic bread with mozzarella was raw dough. We also ordered a pizza with extra onions - not one onion to be seen. Disappointing all round. It was also cold but I expect that was more the fault of Deliveroo. Will think before ordering again which is a shame.

Standard food and prices. Really quick service. The pizza of my college was really good however the salmon pasta we ordered was really salty. They were nice helping one of our friend with lactose intolerance to substitute with vegan.

The service and atmosphere were really nice, but the food was bad. I’m Italian and I don’t expect to find perfect Italian food abroad but the food here was particularly disappointing: the pasta extremely overcooked and the pizza tasteless (and cooked in an electric oven).

Ever since I’ve moved city I have not found any better restaurant. Mamma mia was my favourite place to go every birthday every celebration this was the place. Best pizzeria and don’t get me started on the tiramisu ❤️

You can spend the evening with your family. Inexpensive.

Solid Italian cuisine with a focus on what's going well. A few pizzas, just as much pasta and some appetizers beforehand. Having been in business for over 40 years, the owners know how things work. A visit will not disappoint, but you shouldn't expect anything special either.

Would have given 4 stars but the 12% service charge is an American cancer that must be stopped.

Not particularly nice atmosphere, squeezed in on table as not enough space around it. Pizzas not appealing to look at or taste, they couldn't even be bothered to slice them, tiramisu all cream no texture. Staff pleasant enough but that doesn't make up for the rest. Won't be returning.

The gluten free pizza is terrible. All other non gluten free pizzas are good. Do not order the gluten free pizza here. They basically get a fat base( I’m guessing from Tesco) and add the toppings. Entirely unacceptable for an Italian pizza joint. Very disappointed. The base is shockingly inedible.

it used to be really good but the food was average not really good 3/5 it is expensive compare to other pizzerias and kind of not worth the money 3/5 it has really nice atmosphere 4/5 we had to wait long time to order then long time to get the food and when we got it we didn't get any cutlery and had to wait again so 2/5 staff were nice but i guess they were tired so couldn't see lots of smiles 3/5 and again same as many other restaurants service charge was added without asking first and it wasn't mentioned anywhere, i don't mind to pay tips but i don't like to be forced to pay it 0/5 overall experience 2.5/5

We've always loved the extremely freshly cooked, thin-based pizza at this very popular Oxford restaurant. Hadn't been for some time, so we were very happy to be back. My Stagioni Pizza (olives, smoked ham, mushrooms & artichoke plus added anchovies) was excellent: straight out of the oven, excellent toppings and a really crisp, thin base. We'll be back soon!

Food was good, fresh pasta was impressive, felt rushed by the staff though - had gone in for a relaxing Friday evening but was a bit stressful. Would go again, but perhaps on a quieter evening.

Ordered three pizzas from Mamma Mia via Deliveroo. Two were very nice, one was badly burnt. Sadly it was the only gluten free thing we'd ordered, so my seven year old daughter had nothing to eat until they'd delivered a replacement - by which time everyone else had long-since finished their puddings. Pretty shocking that they have no quality control stopping something like this going out, but replacement was fine. Have enjoyed Mamma Mia in the past, but will probably avoid after this experience.

Very tasty food, but service was hopelessly overwhelmed. Long wait before the table was wiped and our order was taken. We were brought the wrong food twice. At times it felt like the waiters had forgotten us. Pasta was served without permesan and, after we asked, no more was added. But very, very good pizza!

The starters were a bit disappointing, particularly the calamari. But mains were great. Staff training did mean a bizarre overlap with starters and mains. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and we ordered a variety of both specials and from the main menu. The service was really attentive and the food was incredible (as it usually is). Never had a bad meal here, the tiramisu is to die for!

We have eaten at Mamma Mia several times over many years when visiting Oxford friends, (most recently last autumn) and were looking forward to another enjoyable evening but sadly, on this occasion, we were left rather disappointed. Having lived in Italy, I do appreciate an authentic pizza and previously, we have always found those at Mamma Mia delicious, filling and good value for money. This time, however, the toppings appeared quite sparse, leaving a far wider, very hard and overcooked, crust and a very thin pizza. The pizza and the gnocchi dish, both from the "specials" board at just under £17 each, were underwhelming, as was our shared starter which contained some rather crunchy peach. Fortunately, our desserts were good and the staff, as always, were polite and welcoming, but our level of enjoyment did not equal the size of the bill! At a time when eating out is now a luxury for many, we want to continue to support restaurants, including Mamma Mia, but only if we return home thinking "that was great", and this time, we did not.

Mama Mia's is absolutely the best Pizza restaurant in Oxford. The gluten free pizza is the best I have ever tasted! The service is top notch, and the environment is family friendly.

Such a lovely easy, relaxed vibe in this restaurant, even though the staff work absolutely tirelessly and non stop. They are still super friendly and welcoming. We had a garlic bread to start, which wasn’t the best. Mostly cold and super hard and crispy, it was drowned in a grainy lumpy garlic and swimming in oil. A generous portion but on the whole inedible. Our lasagna however, was very good. A generous portion, a wee bit tomato heavy but tasty none the less. Great to try somewhere different and a pleasant evening was enjoyed by all.

We visited on 30th April for a mixed age, family lunch for my son’s birthday. We had delicious food and great service which is always the case at both venues of this lovely pizza (and pasta) restaurant.

We love Italian food and we decided to visit o for for our anniversary. This restaurant was recommended to us by a local bar and I am so pleased they did. The food was amazing, they really do put thought into their flavours and everything just tasted incredible. We highly recommend this place to anyone else. It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and this place certainly made us feel like we’d had a treat and the staff were so friendly too.

Place that should be Italian and they give you frozen pizza that has no taste and doesn't fill you up at all. As an Italian I tell you not to even set foot on it, the pizza is inedible (forget the dogs)

Wonderful food. Nice relaxed atmosphere and we were not rushed out when we had finished. I had been to the Summertown restaurant several times but not for a very long time. Decided this would be good to try out for the family on Mother's Day as it was local for mum. Everyone really enjoyed it. The starters are fantastic the pizzas incredible and the desserts are lovely. Friendly staff and such a wonderful place to visit. Will definitely be coming again.

I went for a takeaway. No space as waiting area. Long wait. Pizza not good. They forgot to add the Parma ham in a Parma ham pizza.

I was pleased to find a carb-free meal with aubergine and tomato. The kids always like pizza/pasta. Food ok,a bit ordinary and a bit over priced.

Food and drink was decent - I had the lingine al gamberoni and a glass of nero d'avola. I don't think the pasta was fresh, although the prawns were cooked beautifully. £8.95 was a little steep for what was quite a small portion of pasta. This being said, we were a very large group (20+) and the staff coped amazingly. Food was sent out quickly and the waitresses were attentive and did a great job. Overall, I would say it's reliable and reasonably priced comfort food, and I would refinitely recommend for groups and parties.

My husband and I made a reservation for dinner on a Monday at 5:30 because we wanted a table that was sort of out of the way. When we arrive there was one party of three there. We were shown to a table right next to the kitchen pick up window and when we asked for another table the guy acted like he couldn’t find anything else . Explained again and again that the table we initially ask for was reserved - but made no effort to find a more suitable table. There was no one else there it was a room full of empty tables! We left - happy ending we went around the corner and with no reservation got a cozy booth and the best barbecue I’ve ever had, and the best wait staff ever!

We were visiting Oxford for a couple of nights so decided to go for a meal & after going through a few Italians, we found Mamma Mia Jericho. Not only was the service brilliant - our young waiter was very friendly and attentive, the food was exceptional aswell! We all had the garlic mushrooms with warm bread to start with which we all agreed were amazing. I then had Pollo E Funghi which was phenomenal. My boyfriend had Lasagna & his mum had the Aubergine Parmigiana. Both of them said it was the best Italian they’d ever had. Then came the Tiramisu OMG!!! Next time we visit Oxford we will definitely be booking a table - my mouth is watering in anticipation

Best Pizza place in Jericho on par with the Rickety press. But feels like an authentic Italian place and I have enjoyed several pizzas here now.

Second visit in 2 weeks and just like the previous visit, the people are great and so is the food. We had just 35 minutes before seeing a show and the staff were so good in making sure the pizza and pasta came out fast enough that we had time to enjoy our meal before heading off. Carbonara is always a good choice as is the Mamma Mia pizza Thanks once again for a great meal

Very average pizza, no flavour except the spicy sausage, but as there was only five slices on the pizza it wasn't great. No herbs, very little artichoke, entirely overpriced for what it was. Service was polite but average, we were sat by the phone so...

Lovely to sit outside in the street on a sunny Sunday. My spaghetti was really nice and a good size portion at a reasonable price. Staff polite and welcoming. Delightful. Order online isn't very good. I've had undercooked bread and rocket salad without parmesan ( should have had it) 3 times. The spaghetti bol is great though. We're is my parmesan?

The atmosphere and service are good but pizzas and pastas are not that good. We ordered mamma mia and americana pizzas. We didn’t like them. Pasta was also so oily.

Had just completed the Oxford Half and was looking for some carbs. Popped in on the off chance they'd have some space and we managed to get a table outside. Service was prompt and friendly and drinks came with minimal delays. After a starter of garlic bread (very garlic) which was lovely and fresh, As we were feeling a bit cold as the sun had disappeared we asked if we could possibly go inside and with no fuss at all they transferred us to an inside table. Now I've known in these situations before where the order for the original table gets lost but no worries this time. Our mains came within a few minutes and they were everything we needed. Hot, tasty and filling. Despite being a team member down and being very busy the staff kept smiling and explained/apologised to customers for the delays. We decided to skip pudding even though they looked marvellous but we are planning to return and try them next time.

Lovely little Italian restaurant in Jericho. Quite popular, Good pizzas and pastas including a decent vegetarian selection. Good portion size for mains although the bread platter was minimal and had only a few small pieces of bread. Tiramisu was ok. Nice service.

Fantastic pizzeria in Jericho. Very highly recommended. Mamma Mia has long been my takeaway of choice in Oxford, and the authentic, cosy restaurant experience is well worth a detour if you’re in the area. Kudos goes to the maître d’, who successfully convinced me _not_ to put extra cheese on my pizza — as it would ruin the texture — thus losing out on the industry standard triple-figure markup on extra mozzarella. Considering no one has ever persuaded me not to add cheese to anything once my heart is set upon it, this is a real feat, and testament to the friendly expertise of the staff. I have to make special mention of their gluten free bases, which are so convincingly and uncharacteristically delicious that I initially thought they’d sent me a gluten-y one.

I am currently sat in this restaurant after arriving 1 hour 10 minutes ago. We received our drinks and antipasti Misto just under an hour ago and this was the last time we have seen a waiter. There is a constant stream of Deliveroo drivers through the centre of the restaurant looking and breathing over all of the food that is being taken, very slowly, to tables. The starter, though delicious, is a distant memory as is my glass of wine which hasn’t been replenished. To the owners, either take more staff and have someone organising everything or ditch Deliveroo as it’s severely hampering you business and your reputation!
